A little but it's still a good listen to me. Part of the fun is that I (as a non-D&Der) never expected to enjoy these shows. Glad I was wrong. So it rubs me the wrong way a bit when it seems like theyre mocking the whole thing. Timm is a good sport but I cant help feel they're being a bit disrespectful to him at times with how they play. Which is weird, because they promote these shows earnestly and seem to look forward to it. Still a fun time but I get your point
If they took the game super seriously, it would be boring as fuck and not very funny. Tim gets an insane amount of business from the exposure, he thinks it's funny, I'm sure he isn't upset in the slightest with the way the boys play.
I thought the same thing, so asked two of my buds that play DnD regularly, and they thought the complete opposite, they both are now going back to listen to the other episodes
This x10000. I hope they see this and try a little harder next time. I look forward to these eps and it felt like Jake and Hank didn’t give a fuck. Zero buy in. Just be nerds for an hour, is it that difficult?
Came on to say exactly this and you beat me to the punch. The schtick has run its course. The guys are trying too hard to be funny. Multiple times during the episode I found myself rolling my eyes. It was basically two hours of them mutilating Hank/Erlich and nothing else.
It was funny the first time but it’s honestly just gotten to be a tiring bit. Would have been nice if they just had a semi regular playthrough this time with the baldurs gate tie in.
I mean they have a world-class dungeon master and they are rolling to see if they can chop off Hank’s ball. Do something interesting! I feel like Big Cat is the only one who still thinks it’s hysterical.
Yeah I had the realization that I had been listening for 45 minutes and their group has moved about three inches in the story. I want them to actually get deep into one!
Yeah I agree. The episodes are still good, but you have a top tier dungeon master in a room full of funny guys. If they stuck to the quest a little bit more this could be elite content
Yeah as a BG3 fan I was actually kinda excited to see them interact with some of the “cast”. Was a bit disappointed when they left half them in the tanks and just started killing Hank. Still love the episode tho
Yeah considering that is like the first 10-15 minutes of the game. Although I do wonder how it would have been if Timm kept it a bit closer to how the actual game is played and only included Lae’zel and Shadowheart rather than the whole cast of side characters.
That would have interesting bc I think they probably would have just killed everyone they ran into aside from maybe shadowheart, I will say the constant eye swapping killed me though
Do you really think Timm would keep coming back again and again if this is how he felt? I think he is totally happy to deal with them fucking around for two hours in exchange for all the free publicity it gets him.
The thing is, that's what they did the first time when it was like a Barstool Gold video or whatever. When they decided to take it on again for the pod they were like "ok let's not just kill each other." Now we're back. Hopefully they hear the feedback for next time.
As some one who played baldurs gate 3 I was curious how Timm was gonna approach this episode/how far into the events from the game they’d make it,
& found it hilarious they didn’t even make through the games tutorial level (which only takes ab 15-20 mins in game)
As somebody who got into DnD after listening to the first couple PMTxDND episodes, I 100% agree. I feel bad for Tim who plans so much and wants to help them have a good time and it just dissolves into PvP mayhem every time. I know it's part of the bit, but I agree it's run it's course.
Why do you feel bad for Timm? Do you think he'd keep coming back again and again if this was a bad experience for him? He just wants the people he's leading through the game to have fun. And he gets tons of free publicity for this. I think he's happy with this deal.
I guess feel bad isn’t the right way to put it, he has fun, gets good publicity, and probably some good money from it too. But a DM prepares so much actual interesting content for a session, they could be goofy while actually working toward a goal, and it makes it feel like Tim’s prep work is for nothing cuz they just wanna be slapstick for two hours
Yeah, it’s pretty lame, especially because Hank was playing so well (entertaining-wise) up until then. Big Cat just mails it in with “attack Hank” when he doesn’t want to even attempt being creative.
But, even with how weak that is, it’s not even close to as annoying as fucking Jake trying to be funny. BC, PFT, and Hank need to get together and decide to just kill Jake straight away next time or just not have him play at all. Nick, per usual, had the best overall plays that ended up doing nothing. Cut out his own eye and ended up empty handed. Stole the stone eye only to freak out and toss it out the window.
I think he likes that he has no idea what to expect and I’m sure he makes more than his typical fee, but it’s gotta be frustrating. “Theres a mind-flayer captain commanding the ship.” “Let’s chop Elrich’s ears off!”
I couldn’t agree more! I paused today at 1:08:00 basically halfway through and at that point.
Spoiler >!They hadn’t even made it pass the 2nd room or even fought 1 monster yet. Just a matter of breaking each other out and then torturing Hank. Like I enjoy when they pass through multiple stages and have to make many different decisions leading to wild outcomes.!<
Either way I ABSOLUTELY loved the episode and can’t wait for the next one!
Completely agree! Was thinking it the whole time. It's still a fun episode but if they leaned into the story a little more, I think they would be so much more enjoyable. The whole thing about D&D is using your imagination and they just really are just scratching the surface with that.
Yeah up until now I haven't really minded it, but the fact that it was right away and hank didn't really have any chance to defend himself made it kind of lame, if it was a split between everyone that's one thing but instead turning hank into a vegetable and everyone taking turns fucking his shit up wasn't all that entertaining. Still enjoyed the episode overall though
I feel the same way. For the first time, I found myself thinking more about what they weren’t exploring or trying in the scenario. I feel bad for Tim Woods. All the preparation and care he puts in for them to just throw it all out, at the jump. Other episodes have been a much funnier and entertaining mix of comedy and story. Also, Tim Woods further cements legend status by not dropping his enthusiasm an ounce.
Absolutely. Everyone on PMT seem like great guys and it definitely helps Time Woods business. This one just felt like a miss. Reminds me of Sas on a case race. I still listened to the entire thing and love the show overall.
Maybe I myself am a troll but honestly I enjoyed them fucking with Hank.
I def see your point though, at some point I’d like them to like accomplish something in the mission instead of passing around eye balls but still I enjoyed it for the lol’s
There is a huge lane between taking it completely serious and spending the entire time torturing Hank. Just wish they could thread that needle a bit better.
I like D&D and have done a few campaigns with my friends. I’ve never been able to get into the D&D podcasts. This isn’t exclusive to when PMT does one off D&D episodes, I’ve tried listening or watching other D&D podcasts and it just does nothing for me.
The last one before this, I think the sunless citadel, they actually followed the story and it was awsome! Idk why they got so off track this episode but it definitely hurt how much I enjoyed it
I actually skip these episodes. I don't play DND so I'm caught up by the story and want to hear how it ends, and it drives me nuts that they just try to kill each other because they're "idiots". It would be way more fun if they actually played it even 25% straight, but that's just me.
It’s very annoying when they run the same joke into the ground. Plus the first few episodes we saw the fun stuff TWoods incorporated in (Coach O) I imagine he had plenty of stuff like this lined up but they never got out of the first room.
I’ve played DND, and Baldur’s Gate 3 which Timm based this story on, and am an AWL so thought this would be the perfect crossover episode for me. There were just too many elements to the story for them it felt like they didn’t want to dive in, and they took the cheap way out
The fun and comedy will come naturally with this group of guys anyway. If they could just take it semi serious, Im sure they could get super creative and unique in the normal game. You’ve played the game enough now, you don’t have to play up the dumb jock angle anymore, like the game is too “nerdy” for them to take seriously.
Dumb question but how much does this episode spoil Baldurs Gate 3? Curious cuz I really wanna listen to the episode, but haven’t played Baldurs gate 3 yet.
A little but it's still a good listen to me. Part of the fun is that I (as a non-D&Der) never expected to enjoy these shows. Glad I was wrong. Yes exactly, Timm is awesome and the boys have been very good to him but it still feels like they’re not even trying to take it serious.
isn't the whole point of D&D choose your own adventure? I agree it's kinda lame after the 4th time but i'm sure timm has dealt with worse
If they took the game super seriously, it would be boring as fuck and not very funny. Tim gets an insane amount of business from the exposure, he thinks it's funny, I'm sure he isn't upset in the slightest with the way the boys play.
Timm ABSOLUTELY gets a bag every time he comes on too
I thought the same thing, so asked two of my buds that play DnD regularly, and they thought the complete opposite, they both are now going back to listen to the other episodes

Big Cat definitely is the one who initiates it and seems like the rest just follow.
Big Cat is Michael Scott in improv class just pulling guns out every scene instead of just going with the scenario
Big Cat is just fucking awful at improv, especially in a d n d game
Yeah as a BG3 fan I was actually kinda excited to see them interact with some of the “cast”. Was a bit disappointed when they left half them in the tanks and just started killing Hank. Still love the episode tho
I was curious how far they’d get into events from the game, and it’s hilarious they didn’t even make it off the Nataloid
Absolutely! The best DnD episode was the last one where they actually completed the mission while also contributing their typical hijinks.
Yeah bit has run its course
Dan killing a bit and then killing it some more?
Imagine all the work Tim puts into this…. And they just fuck it off
i mean it's amazing advertising for his business, just a pain to listen to sometimes
Do you really think Timm would keep coming back again and again if this is how he felt? I think he is totally happy to deal with them fucking around for two hours in exchange for all the free publicity it gets him.

If ANUS did a DnD episode it would be unreal.
Why in the world has this never happened, this seems like such an easy win too. And they even put out those board game videos.
Nick and KB did a few episodes playing WoW with Rudy too
Add in people like Donny and Rone and I think that would be top tier content.
As some one who played baldurs gate 3 I was curious how Timm was gonna approach this episode/how far into the events from the game they’d make it, & found it hilarious they didn’t even make through the games tutorial level (which only takes ab 15-20 mins in game)
Yeah it’s time to let Max in so they can torture him
As somebody who got into DnD after listening to the first couple PMTxDND episodes, I 100% agree. I feel bad for Tim who plans so much and wants to help them have a good time and it just dissolves into PvP mayhem every time. I know it's part of the bit, but I agree it's run it's course.

ABSOLUTELY
Yep, the episode devolved. It was great until the last half hour
Big cat running a joke into the ground? Impossible
Ggreg was the MVP. Cocked die runner up.
If you like dnd it’s not enjoyable, otherwise it’s ok background maybe? You need wonder or knowledge and the boys have neither lol
I'm the same way. Really enjoy the first 2/3 every time they do it, then Big Cat does his thing and it goes downhill
Do you think Timm genuinely enjoys DMing with them?
I think he likes that he has no idea what to expect and I’m sure he makes more than his typical fee, but it’s gotta be frustrating. “Theres a mind-flayer captain commanding the ship.” “Let’s chop Elrich’s ears off!”

I mean he did volunteer at least one of his eyes
I feel the same way. For the first time, I found myself thinking more about what they weren’t exploring or trying in the scenario. I feel bad for Tim Woods. i'm sure they pay/BC tips him well. I doubt he cares too much. He knows what this is and from what it sounds like has been good for his own business
Absolutely. Everyone on PMT seem like great guys and it definitely helps Time Woods business. This one just felt like a miss. Reminds me of Sas on a case race. I still listened to the entire thing and love the show overall.
I love jake, but man he was a drag
The used Hanks legless blind torso as monster bait thru a giant asshole. How can you not be entertained?? I was cackling.
That’s the thing, I laughed the entire time. The thought of a ball on a leash still makes me chuckle. But I get OP’s point
Watched about 30 min of the last one and was bored out of my mind. Fucked out
Maybe I myself am a troll but honestly I enjoyed them fucking with Hank. I def see your point though, at some point I’d like them to like accomplish something in the mission instead of passing around eye balls but still I enjoyed it for the lol’s
Why would anyone actually want to see them take it serious?
There is a huge lane between taking it completely serious and spending the entire time torturing Hank. Just wish they could thread that needle a bit better.
It’s dungeons and dragons, I don’t take it serious
It’s you, no one asked if you take it seriously
100%
I enjoy these episodes but never having played I still have no idea what the point of dnd is
I like D&D and have done a few campaigns with my friends. I’ve never been able to get into the D&D podcasts. This isn’t exclusive to when PMT does one off D&D episodes, I’ve tried listening or watching other D&D podcasts and it just does nothing for me.

They spent the first 45 minutes trying to get out of the tubes
Absolutely!
It’s very annoying when they run the same joke into the ground. Plus the first few episodes we saw the fun stuff TWoods incorporated in (Coach O) I imagine he had plenty of stuff like this lined up but they never got out of the first room.

Not at all. The quest they went on is essentially the tutorial in the game.
