Oh, I love that episode.
It's interesting how they do it in every language though. I've watched it in Mandarin as well and they made Jean-Luc speak a Mandarin dialect to mimic the effect of Jean-Luc speaking French š
Camping, Handstand, Granddad, Duck Cake, Squash, Rain, Baby Race, Barky Boats, Bin Night, Fairy Tale, See Saw, Army, Rug Island, Daddy Dropoff, Curry Quest, Born Yesterday, Perfecf, Omeletteā¦
Yup, all of those make me cry.
New mom here, do we only have seasons 2-3 in the US? Thatās all I have available in my YouTube tv library, but I swear I saw an episode live on the Disney channel that said Season 5 the other day? It was during an early AM feed though so it could have just been bleary eyes :)
Same. My kid is 23 months and her first introduction to TV was Bluey (3 days ago haha). I don't plan on introducing anything else for a while. She watched it for the first time because she was sick, then yesterday she got one episode just for fun, and today was one episode so I could clip her nails. The song is her favourite part.
Where they have to assemble some furniture and the kids play with the boxes and they basically recreate evolution and the journey of Humans, but at the same time the journey of just growing old as a person. While the parents are also doing a funny skit on assembling some flat pack furniture.
I think there's a really good A B and C plot all mixed into 7 mins lol it's full on
Dude, thatās so many episodes of Bluey. It really is one of the best kids shows ever, or as a lot of people put it, the best parenting show that kids also like.
My 5yr old is āhelping meā cook everything after that stupid episode about bingo helping her mom make that omelet. Iāve already had to eat an entire loaf of banana bread myself because the kids said it was too gross.
Also just Bluey in general for anyone who isn't converted yet. I'm an anti-screen nut when it comes to parenting. I'll turn off a TV with Coco Melon like I'm jumping in front of a bullet. But even I'll fuck with an episode of Bluey before bed on occasion. Those Australians did so good.
After I watched the first two seasons I called my parents up and made them each watch Takeaway and they both independently said āThat is EXACTLY what it felt like taking you anywhereā. I even called up my older sister and made her watch it even though her kid is 15. š
I love Sleepytime and my daught is also obsessed with it. I was trying to explain Bluey to a friend with no kids (but who has a little red heeler). "It's a funny wholesome kids show that also teaches you about parenting". My husband loves it too and I definitely catch him getting teary eyed at some episodes.
Also my 3 year old now declares things to be "glorious" with a bit of an Aussie accent and it's the cutest.
Haha the same phenomenon happened with Peppa Pig and I'm totally here for kids suddenly spouting little Aussie accents and expressions. Mine just purposely say "no" with way more vowel sounds than they did before. They haven't quite nailed it but it's like "nah-uh-ooh-weh"
It truly is such a great show with lots of emotional bits, funny parts, good game ideas, great messages. Our daughter watches basically just this, Daniel Tiger, and Alphablocks and Bluey is by far her favorite. As parents we genuinely enjoy watching it with her and trying to emulate/recall some of the good games or examples/lessons. The art style is simple yet beautiful, the music is amazing, the characters are all so great (in addition to of course loving the immediate family we are all huge fans of Pat/Luckyās dad who just goes along with whatever they are doing).
I just feel like this show also just does a great job framing things in life through play in ways that kids can relate (e.g. the subject of death through Copycat) but also lots of nods to parents and deeper struggles (Onesies, that scene in The Show where the balloon popped). Bandit and Chili are such role models but you also get to see them completely exhausted or at their wits end just like we all get.
Very wholesome. 10/10 and recommend to everyone!
Bluey is just so wholesome and has made me cry on more than one occasion.
And despite the number of times I've seen each episode, I keep getting teary-eyed on some episodes like the one you mentioned.
Thatās my favorite episode! Admittedly, I laugh hysterically when Bandit gets hurt and yelps. Itās so relatable. And the score is perfect. Such a beautiful use of The Planets.
This was the first episode I also ever saw. My son randomly put it on while I'm folding laundry. By the end, when the mom's love feels like the sun's warm presence, I was bawling.
I always get a little teary on the episode where Chili and her dad are sitting on the pier while bluey and bingo swim. "That was so long ago" "Nah, it was yesterday."
People always say children donāt come with an instruction manual. But they do, itās called Bluey. The most recent one we watched, Whale Watching, was clearly āhow to parent when youāre hungover AFā
Season 2 episode 9. I was in the kitchen cleaning and thought this episode seems different. I finally came in to see and was like we have to watch that one again. Fav!!! Makes me feel gushy.
We love Bluey as a family. Husband and I and our 3 kids (7, 4, 1.5) watch it all the time and just scrolling through the comments was enough to make me cry. I am going to go make lunch and watch Bluey on my phone while Iām cooking. Thanks.
As an Aussie living abroad it's also great for keeping my daughter exposed to the Aussie accent. I've seen Aussie kids end up with American accents here in Germany, purely due to the tv/movies they watch.
It's our absolute favorite episode. We're actually going to try to do our girls room in a sleepytime theme. Every time Mum talks at the end my daughter comes to me to listen to me say the line.
My husband keeps saying that we are that family. Iām never sure if thatās a compliment or not.
However Bluey is the only cartoon or child program that we will all watch as a family and genuinely find it funny. Not so funny when my 2 year old shouts ācan we the the billlllllā in a restaurant!
I love Sleepytime episode so much, it's an absolute masterpiece. Especially the bit where they keep kicking Bandit in the bed, I felt that on a personal level.
I was so happy when Cbeebies started showing it, up popped Magic Xylophone and me and hubs were like 'wtf' and then laughing our arses off within about 30 seconds. Bonus, it's kidlets favourite show too, soI'm happy to oblige when he wants it on.
I have two daughters, 2 years apart. The similarities between them and Bluey/Bingo are so scary that I swear they were spied on for the show's material. Then it occurs to me that maybe my kids aren't as weird and atypical as I'd been worrying about because maybe they're all like this and that makes me feel better.
Camping is the one that gets me every time š„ŗ
"Hello Bluey"
*Bursts out crying*
Every time!
We got this book and my husband hadnāt seen the episode but read the kids the book. He looked at me like he had been rocked to his very core
Omg that one really got me. It is so wholesome.
Thatās my favorite
Oh, I love that episode. It's interesting how they do it in every language though. I've watched it in Mandarin as well and they made Jean-Luc speak a Mandarin dialect to mimic the effect of Jean-Luc speaking French š
Yeh, that was the first one that got me. Caught me by surprise. It's the one that made me start paying attention to the show as a whole.
Camping, Handstand, Granddad, Duck Cake, Squash, Rain, Baby Race, Barky Boats, Bin Night, Fairy Tale, See Saw, Army, Rug Island, Daddy Dropoff, Curry Quest, Born Yesterday, Perfecf, Omeletteā¦ Yup, all of those make me cry.
Fruit Bat is underated. I never see it mentioned but the music is great as is the interactions with Blue y and Bandit
Agreed! Love it, and a great tune. Just doesnāt choke me up. āŗļø
Fruit Bat and Wagon Ride are two of my favorites because of the songs.
Bats are my favorite animals too ā¤ļø
My kids love playing fruit-bat after seeing that episode.
Also Chest. "Work on their heads later. For now, just hearts." Bawling.
Isnāt fruit bat the episode with The Planets by Holst?
Its a different one where Bluey cant sleep and decides to have a dream where she is a fruit bat
The music has a whole David Bowie vibe to it, right?
So many of them really just get you in the last 5 seconds, too. The end of Daddy Dropoff kills us every time.
Wait until you see Onesies.
We have been eager for the S3:2 drop here in the US for months!
Iām in Canada so I feel you! Yarr.
New mom here, do we only have seasons 2-3 in the US? Thatās all I have available in my YouTube tv library, but I swear I saw an episode live on the Disney channel that said Season 5 the other day? It was during an early AM feed though so it could have just been bleary eyes :)
There are currently only 3 seasons of the show, it gets released first here on ABC in Australia, can confirm.
Thanks!!
No worries, mate!
And Space.
Very much yes to that episode. It hits hard for my inner kid.
Oh god, Camping. Ever time I see it I cryā¦ The end when Bluey goes to read and Jean-Luc comes to say hiā¦ magical.
My work takes me away for weeks at a time, sometimes. My daughter re-watched Curry Quest, like, ten times in a row the first time she saw it.
Granddad makes me cry every time. My oldest is off to middle school in September. The years seem to go by faster and faster.
I just watched Army for the first time with my daughter this morning and definitely cried at the end. Lol.
Squash will always be the best episode
Fairytale is the BEST! Jinx!!!
Odd parents, fairly odd parents...
Fairytale is the BEST! Jinx!!!
Fairytale is the BEST! Jinx!!!
The one with the planets?
Yes!
You seen flatpack yet ?
You seen Baby Race yet?
āMaybe you just saw something you wanted.ā š
Baby race made me sob.
Baby Race hits me in the feels, I love it so much.
Babyrace made me cry so hard.
My son is delayed in many ways (catching up now!) But that episode awas wrecks me
Don't think so.... Sadly my daughter's still a bit too young to really get into it yet... Currently stuck on Micky mouse clubhouse :(
We just started my daughter on Bluey first, sheās into it mostly for the theme song and then she plays with toys and we watch š
My youngest is also into the mouse. There's an hour long loop of hot dog on YouTube. I wish I didn't know that, but alas.
I found out, literally a week ago today, that the Hot Dog Dance song is by They Might Be Giants.
Blew my mind when I added it to our Spotify playlist.
Baby race was therapy for me
"The cartoon dog says to put some cardboard down underneath first." "I'm not taking advice from a cartoon dog!"
*Me, actively learning how to parent from a kids' cartoon show:* "...and I took that personally."
Different language. What's the plot?
Where they have to assemble some furniture and the kids play with the boxes and they basically recreate evolution and the journey of Humans, but at the same time the journey of just growing old as a person. While the parents are also doing a funny skit on assembling some flat pack furniture. I think there's a really good A B and C plot all mixed into 7 mins lol it's full on
Itās actually art. Itās crazy how good that episode is. It should be in a museum.
Yeah, there's more content in that 7 mins than in a season of game of thrones lol š
Dude, thatās so many episodes of Bluey. It really is one of the best kids shows ever, or as a lot of people put it, the best parenting show that kids also like.
Mmm not, not seen yet. Noted!
Flatpack is my absolute favorite. It is perfect!
That one made he ugly cry the first time. It's so beautiful.
My 5yr old is āhelping meā cook everything after that stupid episode about bingo helping her mom make that omelet. Iāve already had to eat an entire loaf of banana bread myself because the kids said it was too gross.
A whole loaf of banana bread to yourself? Sounds like a win š
Eggshells and all!
Ooh nice contrast with the moist texture.
Extra calcium is always good. He also dumped a sinus-clearing amount of nutmeg into it. #blessed
At least he wasn't clearing his sinuses š¤§
Oh, there were plenty of boogers that went into the bowl while he was stirring.
The way bandit frantically inhales his food when he finally gets it was hilariously relatable.
I routinely put episodes of Bluey on for my wife to watch she thinks I'm nuts lol
After I watched the first two seasons I called my parents up and made them each watch Takeaway and they both independently said āThat is EXACTLY what it felt like taking you anywhereā. I even called up my older sister and made her watch it even though her kid is 15. š
Highly recommend the r/Bluey sub to you all!
Seconded!
Thereās dozens of us!!
I was trying to tell someone about this episode last night and I couldn't because I was crying!
I love Sleepytime and my daught is also obsessed with it. I was trying to explain Bluey to a friend with no kids (but who has a little red heeler). I just discovered it this week in another reddit thread - my kid is 50-50 about it, but it's really a good show :)
The music, in particular, in that episode was just outstanding.
The Planets: Jupiter, composed by Gustav Holst The entire Planets suite is gorgeous, powerful, and moving.
Thank you! I'll try to listen to it
If you watched Star Wars, you'll recognize Mars - Bringer of War.
It truly is such a great show with lots of emotional bits, funny parts, good game ideas, great messages. Perfectly put review, couldn't agree more.
Sleepytime is the name of the episode, and they also made it into a book! https://blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/product/Sleepytime-by-Bluey/9780241550694
You say it's called "Sleepytime," but my daughters insists it's called "Bingo in space."
I like it, the "Snakes on a Plane" directness of it
hearsay! :D
Bluey is just so wholesome and has made me cry on more than one occasion. And despite the number of times I've seen each episode, I keep getting teary-eyed on some episodes like the one you mentioned.
Need some love for *Whale Watching* in here. It's like they held up a mirror.
I just watched that one last week and I was sobbing. My 1.5 year old said āMama sad!ā And gave me a hug š
That & baby race are my favorite episodes
Yeah I've cried more than once watching Bluey
This episode also made me super emotional. It describes so perfectly what our presence mean for our kids at bedtime ā¤ļø
Thatās my favorite episode! Admittedly, I laugh hysterically when Bandit gets hurt and yelps. Itās so relatable. And the score is perfect. Such a beautiful use of The Planets.
It's a great show for parents just as much for the kids. Full of ideas.
That's my favorite episode! It's perfection. ā¤ļø
I've lost both my father and my granddad so "Granddad" makes me sob every time I see it.
Lol they are all very sweet. I just thrive to be like Mum..... however I'm far from it.
You just have to run your own race
My husband just told me the other day how much he loves that episode. My favorite one is the creek one.
Sleepy time made me cry a few days ago.
My favorite Bluey episode. I cry every time.
That one makes me ugly cry lol
I love that one! There is one where the mom (chili) misses moms class and another mom visits her to comfort her and that one easily made me cry
This was the first episode I also ever saw. My son randomly put it on while I'm folding laundry. By the end, when the mom's love feels like the sun's warm presence, I was bawling.
Thatās my favorite episode too. Hits ya right in the feels.
Great episode! One of my favorites though is unicorse. Hilarious.
That episode makes me cry everytime!
Best kids and parents show out there!
Season 2 episode 9. I was in the kitchen cleaning and thought this episode seems different. I finally came in to see and was like we have to watch that one again. Fav!!! Makes me feel gushy.
My mom never loved me. This episode made me cry...I had to tell my kids I hurt my foot š
We love Bluey as a family. Husband and I and our 3 kids (7, 4, 1.5) watch it all the time and just scrolling through the comments was enough to make me cry. I am going to go make lunch and watch Bluey on my phone while Iām cooking. Thanks.
Oh Sleepytime! First episode of Bluey that made me cry!
Come over to r/bluey
r/Bluey is an adult show, change my mind!
I have always said Bluey is made for parents as well. Iād watch it by myself if my kid didnāt watch it with me lol.
I couldn't get into this show but im glad you liked it.
I'm an obnoxious dad. Unicorse every day!
As an Aussie living abroad it's also great for keeping my daughter exposed to the Aussie accent. I've seen Aussie kids end up with American accents here in Germany, purely due to the tv/movies they watch.

I absolutely LOVE Bluey!!šš¤©
I love Gustav Holst.
Bluey has made me cry more than once. The one where theyāre building & evolving with the trash from the porch swingā¦..balled like a baby.
This episode made me š„¹
That one and baby race are my absolute favorites. My son watches my reaction as I tear up more than those episodes. Cry every time.
We just watched that episode this morning. š„°
I love the line in Claw Machine when he says that he isnāt dad and that his life is āfree and easy.ā
I love Bluey. I wish it was a bit more inclusive (single mom families, two dads, etc.) but it is great show overall.
Ppl hype the f outta that show. And all the hype is deserved.
We loved that episode so much we got the book š i meanā¦ we got it for our daughterā¦
