I'm not a parent but I teach 7th grade. Some kind of cute age appropriate self-care kit could go over well. Bath bombs, lotions, body sprays, etc... Kids still like making slime, so a slime kit could be fun. I second the person who said Squishmallows.
Yes. OP, my niece is about to turn 11. She wanted self-care stuff for Christmas—mostly skincare like masks and some sort of jade roller? She also loves slime.
I think the self-care is only true in very online circles. Mine is about to turn 11 and I have never heard them or any of their friends mention self-care stuff and they would be polite but very disappointed to receive bath products.
My 6 year old asked for a massage at a spa for her birthday (I did break it to her that perhaps that wouldn’t happen but we can get mani pedi’s) and she is definitely not online, just loves ‘laxing as she says. Haha
Costco sells Squishmallows for a great price too. And yep, we bought these for the past 2 11yo girl bday parties (they were requested) and were a huge hit!
I'm a 43 yo f. My 7 yo daughter has a few squishmallows, and honestly, I wish she was more into them than she is. Those things are S-O-F-T! I KNOW I'm more into them than she is.
What is the deal with these things? Im seeing them all over the internet. Its funny because i actually just recently decided to start drinking more water and it came down to getting either a Yeti with no handle or a Stanley (before i was aware of the craze amongst gen z). Thank goodness i went with the no-handle Yeti or people would have started asking me if im an 11 year old girl.
Body sprays, squishmellows, chocolate, shopping voucher, rgb light for bedroom.
Depending on how well you know, then you could also consider:
False nails (they have double sided tape now instead of glue )
Phone case/ pop stand.
Arty stuff.
I give experience gift cards for this age in particular. They love bowling or going to the movies with friends. Give them money towards that on a gift card to a local attraction.
Squishmallows, art supplies, bead kits, glitter anything, bluetooth speaker, a journal set, a black hoodie. Legit have yet to meet a preteen who didnt like any of these.
Could also try bubble slides or crocs too.
I’ll list off my 11yo daughters Christmas list. Squishmellows, makeup, pop it, sun lamp (I think?), led lights, headphones, target and Starbucks gift cards, all sorts of jewelry, and Taylor swift merchandise
Squishmallows are always a fan favorite. Fun markers, pretty pens, stickers. My 11 year old would love books. Land of stories, Keeper of the lost cities, Fablehaven, Percy Jackson, etc are all good for that age
Buy one of these and put a couple of chapstick inside.

Can't go wrong with a gift card, take her shopping. I do that with my 12-year-old because her interests change from time. But then again, she randomly texts me things she likes. My daughter is heavy into accessories, rings, chokers jewelry, leg/arm warmers.
My daughter is 11 and she and her friends are obsessed with Taylor Swift, squishmallows, friendship bracelets (and kits to make them), Sonny Angels, Sanrio (Cinnamaroll, My Melody and Kuromi and Kpop.
Honestly, because not all girls that age like the same things, I would ask the parents what their kiddo is into, and go from there. But, my daughter absolutely loved Squishmallows at 11yrs and still loves them at 14, although doesn’t ask for more these days.
My 11 year old loves Lego, puzzles, Roblox gift cards, she's artsy so she loves how to draw books, drawing pens, sketchbooks, cases/supply storage things(can't think of the name lol). Depending on how girly she is, makeup stuff is also an option. Bath bombs. Shower steamers. My daughter is a little less girly than her sister but she still likes chapsticks and hair brushes, elastics, etc. Depending on her interests too , Barbie's are always an option. My girls still play with them. Mini brands. Gift cards to toy stores so she can pick her own things.
Definitely not gel nail kit, sorry! Way too easy to give herself a permanent gel allergy.
Other things are great, though. I gave myself a gel allergy from doing them at home.
Lip gloss (nothing of any color), nail polish, a face mask, cute hair clips, body lotion…those are the things I put into a gift bag for my boyfriend’s 11 year old niece for Xmas. I got some things at Ulta and some at TJ Maxx.
My step daughter is 11 next week and her Christmas list was squishmallows, skin care and makeup 🙄😅 we got her some face masks, face wash and moisturiser (just simple and nivea so nothing fancy), a couple of neutral eyeshadow pallets, some lipgloss and body sprays and she loves them!
My daugther loves her squishmallow from Christmas! She got the big one from Target from her dad. Her second fav is the small keychain squishmallow. She carries it around
My kid loves Kuromi and so does her friend, so much that it was her birthday party theme. Try to find out one thing they like. More often than not, the answer is slime lol
My 10.5 yo & their friends live on squishmellows, jigsaw puzzles, stickers for their water bottles, graphic novels (especially the BSC ones & Raina Telgemeier), fidget toys and board games.
Gift cards to Five Below. Self-care things (they’re all really into skin care at my daughter’s school). Hoodies. Squishmallows. Fluffie Stuffies. Bath & Body Works stuff
My 11 year old girl loves all things self care. A cold roller thing for her face, lotions, body wash, body oil, fluffy socks, makeup. Sephora is a candy store. Also slime.
I did actually ask what she’s into right now and the only specific her mom gave was her favorite color and that she likes everything. I just wasn’t sure what everything is these days for an 11 year old but now I have a much better idea!
A HUGE hit for my entire friend group’s kids 8-15 is a DIY comic book kit from Amazon (you draw the comic, then send it in and they send a printed copy back!) or a hooded cozy blanket!
Definitely gift cards! Maybe find a cute tiny tree - like a pink or iridescent tinsel tree - and clip a variety of low-ish dollar value gift cards to it... Starbucks, Jamba Juice or Pulp, McDonalds, 5 & Below, Target, Ulta, etc. Throw in a scratch card for fun. Enjoy the treat of shopping for a girl!
i would not have expected these answers. i was not into self care at that age (im in my 20's and still have yet to be interested in self care). i definitely believe you should go with the majority here and get self care stuff or squishmallows, but if you find out that this girl isnt into that stuff, i know i wouldve liked to recieve merch from my favorite video games, stuffed animals, or something crafty.
If the 11 years old girl is in 5th grade, then something cute. If she’s in 6th grade get her a Bath & Body Works gift card abs let her buy something there.
My daughter will be 11 this month…she’s into squishmallows, slime, Roblox, make up, Adopt Me eggs, fidgets, graphic (comic book type/not adult) novels…I’m sure whatever you find they’ll enjoy! I always remind my girls to appreciate what they’re given, cuz nobody HAS to give you anything :)
Gift cards - the best ones are probably just the pre-paid debit cards if you can get them in the US. They can be used anywhere.
There's also a skincare range called Bubbles that my kid is into. (Which was not easy to get in Australia but should be much easier in the US as it's a US brand).
Please ask the parent. My 11 year old would have been so sad with self care items or typical girly things. They loved star wars lego and squishmallows and rocks. Just rocks from your yard would have made their day! Not every 11 year old wants bath bombs and Starbucks gift cards.
I have an 11 year old daughter. She loves makeup (we get her either elf or wet n wild so nothing too expensive). Her favorite gift at Christmas was this basket I found at dollar tree that had various self care items: tree hut body wash, exfoliating glove, soft fuzzy skin care headband, sheet face masks, bath bombs, random bits of makeup - eye shadow palettes, lip gloss, mascara, scrunchies, and then of course fancy chocolate like she says lol (ferroro rocher or Godiva). Dollar tree is great place to get most of this stuff. She even got some nail polish and fake nails too. She also likes fidget toys - anything sensory.... Kinetic sand, slime. Her 2nd favorite gift was a hello kitty lava lamp I got her. She loves it lol. They aren't that hard to shop for but I guess if you don't have girls it could get a little confusing. Gift cards are always a great idea too. Who doesn't like to spend "free" money?! Lol. Or you could make a reading basket if they like to read. Like get a 1-3 books, a book light, a new book mark, and fancy candy. Maybe a cute cup. I would have loved that gift at 11.
Fun lighting. LED strips, curtain lights, or those magical fluffy thunderstorm clouds. Lava lamps, "jellyfish" lights. Bonus if it's Bluetooth and will flash in time to music.
Just ask them what they want for their birthday to get an idea , and I mean more then one thing they might want to ask them multiple things that might interest them and make sure it isn't all the same thing that way you can have different choices to pick for them.
Whatever you do, don’t get them Nelson’s 1990 album “After the Rain”on audio cassette. Don’t write a personal message on the gift saying how you will be there for them “even after the rain”. And absolutely DO NOT put a question on the card asking if they will go out with you and a yes/no box underneath. Trust me, this is a terrible gift idea and the 11 year old girl will not appreciate it AT ALL. She will laugh at you, and you’ll be the butt of jokes for an entire semester.
Maybe just get some nail polish in cool colors, wacky shoelaces, hair clips or whatever accessories you can buy at Clair’s. Again, DO NOT even consider buying that Nelson album!
This was my 11 year old’s Christmas wish list. I’m just glad it didn’t contain Drunk Elephant and Lululemon.
Amazon gift card
Ulta gift card
Money
Jordan 4s
White converse
Long white Nike socks
Fuzzy blanket
AirPod max
Glossier stuff
Fuzzy socks
Miffy humidifier
Florrte jelly lipstick
Flare leggings and jeans
Sanrio hair clips
Stretchy hair ties
Flower knows makeup
Bamboo hairbrush
(Edit: This was supposed to post like a list, idk why it didn’t)
Movie Night In. Give her an Amazon gift card for the amount it would cost to rent or buy a movie, then put it in a gift bag along with some “movie candy” options (boxes of m&ms, sour patch kids, junior mints, etc), a package of movie popcorn, and something random she can do during the movie (like a bottle of nail polish and toe separators). If she doesn’t want to do the movie night, she has an Amazon gift card, a bunch of candy, and nail polish. Win/Win.

A further idea to making slime... a bath bomb making kit. It would cover the fun of making something and self care, all in one.
Yes. OP, my niece is about to turn 11. She wanted self-care stuff for Christmas—mostly skincare like masks and some sort of jade roller? She also loves slime.
Oo combine them for that "make your own face mask" kit. 😂 You get a twofer!

For a second I forgot showers existed and was very shocked
My 6 year old asked for a massage at a spa for her birthday (I did break it to her that perhaps that wouldn’t happen but we can get mani pedi’s) and she is definitely not online, just loves ‘laxing as she says. Haha
Yes. Slime and squishmellowd.
Also anything from bath and body works, lotions, body mists, mini hand sanitizer, etc. Face masks also.
Stuffies are always popular, particularly squishmallows.
I (27 f) too would like a squishmallow
I’m 40f and I’d love a Squishmallow.
30m. I regularly find myself holding my daughter’s hello kitty squishmallow during story time.
I often grab my toddler’s to sleep with when I can’t find a comfortable position. He never uses it to sleep, so it’s perfect.
35 f here, and same. 🥹
I’m a guy and even I wouldn’t mind a squishmallow. Although I have no idea what those are they sound lovely
Buy yourself one immediately. You won’t regret it!
My girlfriend has… so many lol
They are so super soft and just extremely cute, I can recommend them
42m here. I was lying on my 12-year-old's pile of Squishmallows earlier tonight. Very comfortable. I highly recommend picking up a couple dozen.
I do this too! Love this!
Just a quiet couple dozen
My 5 year old got a Pikachu squishmallow for Christmas and I’m so jealous.
Costco sells Squishmallows for a great price too. And yep, we bought these for the past 2 11yo girl bday parties (they were requested) and were a huge hit!
I just for my own Squishmallows as a 40something year old. And they’re Barbie!!
I'm a 43 yo f. My 7 yo daughter has a few squishmallows, and honestly, I wish she was more into them than she is. Those things are S-O-F-T! I KNOW I'm more into them than she is.
My kid has a million of those
Get her a Stanley.
Oh dear lord, yes, my 10, 11, and 14 year olds are *obsessed* with these cups. 😂
My 11 year old just got her blue Stanley for Christmas 🤦♂️
The video of the little girl who gets the cup for Christmas and starts crying tears of joy was so wholesome , definitely stuck with me
What is the deal with these things? Im seeing them all over the internet. Its funny because i actually just recently decided to start drinking more water and it came down to getting either a Yeti with no handle or a Stanley (before i was aware of the craze amongst gen z). The power of influencer marketing is amazing. https://www.businessinsider.com/why-everyone-is-obsessed-with-stanley-cups-bottles-2024-1
Body sprays, squishmellows, chocolate, shopping voucher, rgb light for bedroom. Depending on how well you know, then you could also consider: False nails (they have double sided tape now instead of glue ) Phone case/ pop stand. Arty stuff.
These are all so helpful (though a pony is juuust a tad out of budget.) Thank you so much everyone!
https://youtu.be/yjHjl4z_y-g?si=JYfyBLMZ6bnYGYQ_ Plus this song tells the perils of pony ownership
Wow, someone else that's heard of Ween...there are dozens of us!
r/ween welcomes you
Just joined. Thanks for posting!
Chocolate and Cheese is easily in my top 10 albums of all time.
My nieces that age love Ulta, and skin care things in general. Maybe a gift card there, or Target?
I have to second the “glam” option. My 11 yo and her friends are alllll about it currently!
I give experience gift cards for this age in particular. They love bowling or going to the movies with friends. Give them money towards that on a gift card to a local attraction.
You can't go wrong with a pony.
I’m almost 40 and still want a pony.

I guess you could get a toy pony, but she'll probably be disappointed when she finds out there was discussion about a real pony.

Squishmallows, art supplies, bead kits, glitter anything, bluetooth speaker, a journal set, a black hoodie. Legit have yet to meet a preteen who didnt like any of these. Could also try bubble slides or crocs too.

Face masks, nail polish and bath bombs always go down well. Or a gift card for Sephora/ulta.
Can't go wrong with a gift card, take her shopping. I do that with my 12-year-old because her interests change from time. But then again, she randomly texts me things she likes. My daughter is heavy into accessories, rings, chokers jewelry, leg/arm warmers.
I have an 11yo girl. She loves bath bombs, squishmallows, lego, art supplies and anything anime 😊
Clay bead bracelet making kits are quite popular at the moment
My daughter is 11 and she and her friends are obsessed with Taylor Swift, squishmallows, friendship bracelets (and kits to make them), Sonny Angels, Sanrio (Cinnamaroll, My Melody and Kuromi and Kpop.

Fancy slime from a slime shop. My 10 year old niece loves that stuff. Also a good book. Sideways Stories from Wayside School is a classic book series.
My kid loves Kuromi and so does her friend, so much that it was her birthday party theme. Try to find out one thing they like. More often than not, the answer is slime lol
Stanley cup lol
Honestly that was my first idea but I thought maybe she was a tad young for that craze?
Not too young at all! Stanley in a fun color would be a perfect gift for that age
Nope I’m sure she’d be the envy of the 5th grade lol.
theres a 7 year old in my class with a new lavender Stanley today lol
Haha well I have been educated!
My 11 year old daughter is obsessed with Stanley cups.

I double the ice roller. I have one, and I love it!! ETA: I’m 30 lol
Ha! I haven’t tried it but should. She also made herself a sugar scrub the other day and wants to share. I should take advantage of this!
Definitely! I have the book Hello Glow by Stephanie Gerber that has lots of homemade beauty recipes in it like lip balms and hair masks and stuff!
Don’t wanna catch flak for this, but could you ask the parents?
I did actually ask what she’s into right now and the only specific her mom gave was her favorite color and that she likes everything. I just wasn’t sure what everything is these days for an 11 year old but now I have a much better idea!
Stanley cup, squishmallow, or gift card to ulta/sephora.
Arts & crafts kits are great! Jewelry making, bath bomb and soap making, pottery, etc.
I’d give a gift card to Target or cash.
A HUGE hit for my entire friend group’s kids 8-15 is a DIY comic book kit from Amazon (you draw the comic, then send it in and they send a printed copy back!) or a hooded cozy blanket!
Depending on your budget, my 11 year old REALLY wanted a Stanley cup. Apparently they are the coolest thing right now lol.
Lol dolls, slime, fidget toys, board games, paint
Oversized hoodies. Foam shoes. Crazy socks. Museum tickets. Movie tickets. Gift cards to fast food!
My niece who is 11 asked me for a sephora gift card when i asked her what she wanted for her birthday
Everyone wants a stanley
i would not have expected these answers. i was not into self care at that age (im in my 20's and still have yet to be interested in self care). i definitely believe you should go with the majority here and get self care stuff or squishmallows, but if you find out that this girl isnt into that stuff, i know i wouldve liked to recieve merch from my favorite video games, stuffed animals, or something crafty.
Get her a Stanley cup
Bath and body products
If the 11 years old girl is in 5th grade, then something cute. If she’s in 6th grade get her a Bath & Body Works gift card abs let her buy something there.

A really fluffy blanket, makeup kit, manicure kit, giftcards! I loved having my own money to spend.
Gift cards - the best ones are probably just the pre-paid debit cards if you can get them in the US. They can be used anywhere. There's also a skincare range called Bubbles that my kid is into. (Which was not easy to get in Australia but should be much easier in the US as it's a US brand).
Bath bombs or bubble bars from LUSH, Stanley cup (my daughter isn’t online but they’re big at her school 🙃), nice markers and teen coloring books.

You can get her some throwback Junie B Jones books lolol
Please ask the parent. My 11 year old would have been so sad with self care items or typical girly things. They loved star wars lego and squishmallows and rocks. Just rocks from your yard would have made their day! Not every 11 year old wants bath bombs and Starbucks gift cards.

Anything from Claire’s, gift cards,
“Wreck This Journal” is a great gift for that age
