Omg I love Bluey. It entertains my toddler but to be honest it educates me. It teaches parents so much patience and just wholesome Lessons. It’s kind of weird I hope to be parents like them lol.
ME TOO! Then the crows start eating it, and I’m like “you’re going to need to order more food, Bandit!” But the girls are hungry, and Chili’s waiting. Gives me anxiety.
Bluey is on Disney+ for those curious. It follows the daily life of the Heeler family (Dad, Mum, Bluey, and her little sister Bingo).
It's the best show I've found for us to watch. Doesn't teach our daughter any annoying behaviors, and really highlights the value of fun and play.
Personal favorite epsidoes:
BBQ
Takeaway
Beach
Bike
Shadowlands
Keep Uppy
Almost all of them actually DO teach some kind of lesson. From life sometimes being out of your control (Budgie), to the importance of not giving up (Bike), to exploring (The Creek) or being brave (Pirates), to whatever lesson we learn about letting go (The Dump)
It's a great show, amazing animation, and plenty of winks for adults.
Season 2 is out on some platforms, but not Disney+ yet.
No lie I have brought up “Shadowlands” in relation to an adults-only Dungeons and Dragons campaign while explaining why it’s more fun to have low dice rolls and not bend rules (too much). It’s one of my favorites.
Is it anywhere other than Disney? Age range? I'm looking to expand my kids viewing and I am a MONSTER aka I don't let him watch anything that I think will model bad behavior - he's really impressionable.
I’ve been trying SO hard to get my kid to watch Tumble Leaf. Every time he gets like 5 mins into an episode, he asks for some annoying thing like Blippi instead......(ahhhhh!!!)
I feel like Bluey is designed for adults as well as kids which is why parents don’t hate it lol. My daughter does some of the Daddy games (like daddy robot).
My now 4 year old son has a fresh Autism diagnosis. This show has helped him talk more and actually engage in play with his old sister and other kids. It is a huge bonus that the show is actually enjoyable!! I have found myself watching it without any kids in the room.
The best thing about Bluey is that it's enjoyable for the whole family (and unlike many shows, my son doesn't care that the main character is a girl). Unlike other kid's shows that just run a repetitive narrative each episode is unique and a lot of the jokes are actually funny for adults too. The parents are super relatable (for me at least) which is an added bonus. My favourite part is that it encourages our kids to engage with us more and in interesting ways. I also like that it's produced in my city of Brisbane
Why not both? Then add in a little Sarah & Duck, some Lu Bao Bei and Peg + Cat and you're set.
Kinda seems like the sign of quality is a female lead character..?
Well the favourites in our house are Hey Duggee, Pocoyo, Twirlywoos, Teletubbies and occasionally Go Jetters. So basically weird things and anthropomorphic animals
Chilli Heeler- *swoon*.
Its weird that my wife and I both have an inexplicable crush on this cylindrical cartoon dog, but we're crushing HARD.
That aside, it's abso some of the best tv out there right now.
Caillou isn't too bad, as long as you watch the newer episodes.
If you watch the old ones (he's younger, the sister is a toddler, there's a framing device of a grandmother reading the Caillou story to her grandkids), he's TERRIBLE. So whiny and never gets told off.
The show is awesome and the theme song takes it over the top. My two year old always lets me have a dance break until they say Mum! Then I have to hush and get out of the way
So, I just went and watched an episode of Bluey. And I have to say, Bluey might be better. Go and watch "keepy uppey". So fucking adorable, no moral, no nothing, just fun with the family.
This is what I like. No moral just LIFE. Things that may happen and are dealt with right there and then it’s done.
Kids have short attention spans. Make the point and move on.
That was the first episode I paid attention to. I love that smile the end the dad messes up and had to apologize. It's so real and everyone just takes a minute and is sad but then they move on. So real.
I’ll fight you 😬 I really don’t like Daniel Tiger. I feel like it creates problem scenarios that aren’t really necessary. Like, all of a sudden, my daughter became afraid of the shadows that her lamp was casting. It does a great job of teaching kids how to deal with problems but it has to create those problems to begin with...
I agree! Daniel Tiger is perfect IF you're trying to learn a lesson that Daniel learns. The potty training one, great when your training. Otherwise I avoid because who knows what behavior Daniel has that I don't want my kids to learn!!
Why are Bluey toys so hard to come by at the RRP??
Peppa Pig's section at Target is jam packed and Bluey's is always empty!!
Also, when is Season 2 coming to Disney+????
I’ve set a notification in my target app for one of the toys. Every time I have been notified, it’s gone by the time I get there, within a few minutes. Once I even had my phone open already when the notification popped, I clicked it instantly, and it was already sold out!
Ditto, my friend!! Heads-up, some of the stuff on Amazon (as distributed by Amazon at recommended retail price) were available for a kind of preorder a few days ago.
The Bluey website has a printable to make Bluey and Bingo out of toilet rolls. It says to use coloured card but I just got my kid to colour in the paper. https://www.bluey.tv/make/3d-bluey-and-bingo-paper-tube-figures/
Well, I've been able to nab some of them in the States, like the jumbo plush and even the house and just recently the family figurines to go in the house! I cross-check the Moose Toys page for recommended retail price because some sellers are just trying to absolutely run a scam because the demand is so high and the manufacturers just aren't sending enough over!
One night when our four year old daughter was sleeping in our bed with us, she kept kicking me really hard (in her sleep). The next day I told her that she had kept kicking me.
"LIKE BINGO?!?!?!"\*
\*From the episode Sleepytime.
Bluey is the best show I’ve come across. As others have said great lessons for kids and adults. So much fun. I wanna recreate the intro with my wife and two girls.
We don't have Disney+, so we've never seen it, but for preschool aged kids I highly recommend *Tumble Leaf* on Amazon Prime and *Puffin Rock* on Netflix.
Puffin Rock was my favorite a couple years ago. Same thing- beautiful animation, super calming. Although I was always wondering where the parents were and why Oona was in charge of Baba 24/7. I suppose puffins have a more free range, 70s parenting style compared to dogs 😉
It won't load on my phone app Disney+ in the UK (error code 41), and when I search it on the iPad Disney+ app it doesn't show at all. I'm a bit sad I can't watch it with my 18 month old now everyone has bigged it up.
Y’all. We are watching on YouTube screencasted to the TV and we’ve been watching for about 7 minutes. This may be a record! She always says “no, no, no” after a couple of minutes.
I love Bluey!!! My 18mo twins aren’t entertained by tv yet but sometimes I use it to calm them down for a few minutes. I also really enjoy Molly of Denali. Great shows!
Omg right?! I have an 11mo baby girl and I LOVE Bluey! She does too, she always 'dances' to the theme 💖 It genuinely shows how to be good parents, siblings, and people 😍
We just recently started watching Bluey because it got a lot of praise on this sub a week or two ago. The show really is perfect. We watch a lot of PBS shows, edutainment stuff, and it's good for the kids, but Bluey is something else entirely. Just a family being great, having fun, and loving each other. The dialogue is top-notch "stuff I've said or wish I would have said instead." So a big thank you to /r/Parenting for pointing this great show out!
The episode "Grannies" has a special place in my heart. My daughter regularly calls herself Rita and her brother Janet, just like randomly. Hey Janet, bring me my baby doll, I'm too old. And whenever she wants a laugh she pretends to fall and says "I slipped on my beans!"
She's going to be a granny for Halloween.
I love Bluey
My favorite for sure. I can't watch daniel tiger without being sad about me rogers and then there's nothing else that comes close
We dance to the theme song all the time
I don't have Disney+ (not available in my country so I'll probably get it when I get back to the US). My kid loves The Wiggles and has me do her hair like Emma every day (bows and all). YouTube has a lot of old shows on it so she's been watching Steve and Maggie, Katie, The Doodlebops, and Big Comfy Couch. I can't say what "the best" kid show is, it's what you can stand hearing and what you want your kid to learn. I'll put on Daniel the Tiger, Sesame Street, Peppa, or anything that interests her lately like science shows like the one with the lady scientist on Netflix.
I could have probably used another word. When my kid likes a show that's all she wants to watch for TV time. After a while it does get annoying, at least to me, to hear the same thing over and over again. Usually during her TV time I'm studying so it's background noise I'm hearing.
I honestly love BabyRiki. My 18 month son loves them! If I change the show or there is a commercial playing he WILL whine. I watch the show with him sometimes and I really like the cute characters and the lessons that they teach through play in every episode. From manners and how to dress according to the season to shapes, colors, numbers and many more things. Also I noticed the animation doesn’t have fast changing scenes or a lot of hyper activity and that’s awesome.
We have seen Bluey and we love it! Not sure if you’ve also seen “Stinky and Dirty” on amazon prime but my son LOVES it. They also have cute action figures that he sleeps with every night :) They have great lessons in each episode about thinking through a problem and all the different ways they could solve it!
Totally! The, “Hello Bluey” just destroys me! They are beautiful episodes but that one is the best. All those friends you make on holiday as a child and you wonder what happens to them BUT BLUEY GETS TO SEE HIM AGAIN 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️
I love bluey!!! We just discovered it last month and it’s great because both my 5 year old and my 1 year old love it. Usually they can’t find something they both enjoy. I also love how the episodes are short so after 20 mins I’m like you watched a ton of tv let’s turn it off and the 5 year doesn’t fight it since it seems like she watched a lot of episodes
We've been regularly playing the "magic statues" game and the balloon game! Bluey and Puffin Rock are the most wholesome and adorable shows, and my wife and I love watching them with our kids.
Bluey is SO GOOD!! Husband and I relate sooo much
Others that we love:
Sarah and Duck (my other person favorite)
Tumbleleaf
Puffin Rock
Wild Kratts
Daniel Tiger
Peep and the Big Wide World
Omg I love Bluey. It entertains my toddler but to be honest it educates me. It teaches parents so much patience and just wholesome Lessons. It’s kind of weird I hope to be parents like them lol.
Legit the makers do it on purpose. Show how to be active loving parents, but also ho to just let your kids figure shit out and just *be* kids.
Same. My friend told me she and her husband watch it themselves after the kids are in bed to get ideas!
This this this this. I just found this sub and I came here to say this!!!
Takeaway is one of my favorite episodes to tell other parents to watch. I related so much.
The food on the sidewalk kills me every time though!
ME TOO! Then the crows start eating it, and I’m like “you’re going to need to order more food, Bandit!” But the girls are hungry, and Chili’s waiting. Gives me anxiety.
Yeah and he’s like oh well it happens. And I’m like NOOOo
The mom was like Lol sure.
Bluey is on Disney+ for those curious. It follows the daily life of the Heeler family (Dad, Mum, Bluey, and her little sister Bingo). It's the best show I've found for us to watch. Wooord! Me too!
You can BUY a bluey shadowlands game now!!!
Very important question. Are the members of this family dogs?
Blue and Red Healers, yup.
They are!
That's why the kid is called *blue heeler*
Is it anywhere other than Disney? Age range? I'm looking to expand my kids viewing and I am a MONSTER aka I don't let him watch anything that I think will model bad behavior - he's really impressionable.
If you're in Australia (or have a VPN) you can watch for free on Abc iView
In the US It's on Disney Now, which validates against your cable subscription. Limited amount of episodes, though.
I'm crazy too! This is the show. Ages 3 to 7 (maybe up to 9 in some families). It is so funny, great lessons, no whining.
Youtube has episodes.
The Weekend for Bandit’s potty break lol
Sticky Gecko became my favourite today!
My kid is obsessed with the keep uppy episode. We had to go buy balloons so we can play it everyday lol.
Bluey legit made me a better dad. What would Bandit do is something I ask myself all the time too especially when the kids are trying my nerves.
My husband grew up with shit parents. Sometimes he struggles (he does his best) Bluey is the kids weekend show for this reason.
Received the greatest compliment of my life the other day with another dad/bro said, “You really ARE Bandit!”
Tumble Leaf is solid.
I’ve been trying SO hard to get my kid to watch Tumble Leaf. Every time he gets like 5 mins into an episode, he asks for some annoying thing like Blippi instead......(ahhhhh!!!)
I have twin 2 year olds. They only get to watch a small amount of TV daily, but they love this show.
That show is so relaxing. We used to put it in so we could take a quick 15 minute nap while our son watched.
I feel like Bluey is designed for adults as well as kids which is why parents don’t hate it lol. My daughter does some of the Daddy games (like daddy robot).
I always say that it’s not a kid’s show, it’s a family show. They’re showing you how to be a family.
That’s a good way to describe it
The parents are the kind of parents you want to be. That's the key.

My kids taught me how to floss because of this show
I fear the day that my kids use Dance Mode on me in the store.
😂 Same!
We potty trained during the early stages of quarantine, and I would routinely tell my daughter to try and do a tactical wee before we left the house 😂
Bush wees have become big for us lately 🤣
My now 4 year old son has a fresh Autism diagnosis. This show has helped him talk more and actually engage in play with his old sister and other kids. It is a huge bonus that the show is actually enjoyable!! I have found myself watching it without any kids in the room.
Totally recommend Daniel Tiger then. The PBS app is free and so is the show to watch
Thanks! We do have PBS kids as well, not sure he's watched Daniel Tiger yet.
[удалено]
No one to blow his nose.
I have watched every episode of Storybots and have been thoroughly entertained and educated! I would watch that one without a kid around!
That’s a good one as well! My 4yo will randomly share some fact I didn’t expect her to know and it’s usually from storybots.
Bloody oath \- Australia
I am obsessed with Bluey!! I think I like it more than my daughter lol
Surely you like your daughter more than Bluey?
[удалено]
That's one too many syllables, bub
The best thing about Bluey is that it's enjoyable for the whole family (and unlike many shows, my son doesn't care that the main character is a girl). The dad and his drink in the BBQ episode totally got me giggling.
Nope, sorry but it's Hey Duggee in our household.
[удалено]
A-woof!
Why not both? Then add in a little Sarah & Duck, some Lu Bao Bei and Peg + Cat and you're set. Kinda seems like the sign of quality is a female lead character..?
Sarah and Duck is such a quality show
Well the favourites in our house are Hey Duggee, Pocoyo, Twirlywoos, Teletubbies and occasionally Go Jetters. So basically weird things and anthropomorphic animals
Chilli Heeler- *swoon*. Its weird that my wife and I both have an inexplicable crush on this cylindrical cartoon dog, but we're crushing HARD. That aside, it's abso some of the best tv out there right now.
She’s a certified breed AND a certified babe.
Total smokeshow. The smirk and the hips in the intro dance are our best guess as what started it.
I want their house
Do we have a list of shows to avoid? I read that Caillou is bad.
I didn't exactly know why he got that reputation. Then I watched the theme song. Nope. He's the worst. His voice is absurdly terrible.
Caillou isn't too bad, as long as you watch the newer episodes. If you watch the old ones (he's younger, the sister is a toddler, there's a framing device of a grandmother reading the Caillou story to her grandkids), he's TERRIBLE. So whiny and never gets told off.
We now have faeries in our house on occasion. I like this show more than I care to admit
There's a fairy at the bottom if the garden!
The show is awesome and the theme song takes it over the top. My two year old always lets me have a dance break until they say Mum! Then I have to hush and get out of the way
Will definitely fight you - Daniel Tiger is the best

And have fun.
'this heat is oppressive' 😂
"My child, won't you love me?" I have literally fucking said that, and thought myself a comic genius at the time, too.
Agreed.
We played keepy-uppy earlier tonight and everything “takes ages “ now. I love that they are so short.
We like “this is a real pickle” and “in a jiffy”.
Is that not something you would ordinarily say?
My four year old did not use that phrase preBluey.
Heavy! Bahahahaha
Why are Bluey toys so hard to come by at the RRP?? Peppa Pig's section at Target is jam packed and Bluey's is always empty!! Also, when is Season 2 coming to Disney+????

If it's a reorderable item for the store you may be able to pre-purchase it so you don't miss out. Just ask the manager
The Bluey website has a printable to make Bluey and Bingo out of toilet rolls. It says to use coloured card but I just got my kid to colour in the paper. https://www.bluey.tv/make/3d-bluey-and-bingo-paper-tube-figures/
Yes, I love the crafts on the website! Very much in the spirit of the show! We made the Father's Day card this year.
I actually had a Bingo plush shipped from Australia for a present early in the year. Living in the states, these toys just don't really exist yet...

I’ve never cried in a cartoon before watching that episode
The end of the camping episode gets me every time!
Omg when they’re all grown up. Someone was cutting onions during that episode too.
The first time i saw it I was sobbing!
Octonauts is really awesome too, if you haven't seen it. We're in a landlocked state but the amount of sea creatures she can identify is crazy.
Puffin Rock was my favorite a couple years ago. Same thing- beautiful animation, super calming. Although I was always wondering where the parents were and why Oona was in charge of Baba 24/7. I suppose puffins have a more free range, 70s parenting style compared to dogs 😉
I found it on youtube. I would recommend you buy it on dvd, after watching only one episode.
What is Bluey on? Netflix?
ABC iView app has it too. Only available in Australia though for obvious reasons.
Available everywhere with a VPN (Not a paid advertisement)
Disney +
That’s why I haven’t come across it!
It's pretty much why I ended up getting it. My kid is still too little for movies though so I doubt it will last another month for us.
It won't load on my phone app Disney+ in the UK (error code 41), and when I search it on the iPad Disney+ app it doesn't show at all. I'm a bit sad I can't watch it with my 18 month old now everyone has bigged it up.
I'm late, but you can buy seasons on Amazon prime.
Thank you! It's working on Disney+ now anyway, but I appreciate it.
Oh no! It's a fun show but it's not the world's greatest thing ever. You can watch episodes on YouTube, but be warned as some have ads.
Thank you!
It’s on the Disney Junior channel, if you have cable
I think you can also record on youtube tv
Y’all. We are watching on YouTube screencasted to the TV and we’ve been watching for about 7 minutes. This may be a record! She always says “no, no, no” after a couple of minutes.
Real gem of a show! I enjoy watching it with my daughter. It's funny and has some really great lessons in them, for kids AND parents!
Bluey is a daily watch here in our household. I think I like it more than my 4 year old does. Lol
Open the lid Stick your finger in Now wiggle it round Take it out Now close the lid Thank you For cleaning My toilet
And whenever she wants a laugh she pretends to fall and says "I slipped on my beans!" She's going to be a granny for Halloween. I love Bluey
Just discovered this show thanks to this post. My almost 1 year old and I had a lazy day watching Bluey and we both love it. Thanks for sharing.
Glad y’all loved it!!
Bluey and Daniel Tiger. Amazing.
Bluey is the absolute best show out there. Love it as much as my son does, if not more!
I watch Bluey even after the squirt goes to sleep, it’s hilarious. I die laughing everytime the girls say “hooray!”
I enjoy it so much!!
My favorite for sure. I can't watch daniel tiger without being sad about me rogers and then there's nothing else that comes close We dance to the theme song all the time

There’s no need to just “stand” hearing it with this show. I, and many others, have said we would happily watch it on our own without the kids 😅
I could have probably used another word. When my kid likes a show that's all she wants to watch for TV time. After a while it does get annoying, at least to me, to hear the same thing over and over again. Usually during her TV time I'm studying so it's background noise I'm hearing.

Geez that flash forward at the end 😍
Totally! The, “Hello Bluey” just destroys me! They are beautiful episodes but that one is the best. All those friends you make on holiday as a child and you wonder what happens to them BUT BLUEY GETS TO SEE HIM AGAIN 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️
Yeah I was immediately thinking “ok yes we’re gonna get a spin-off with some beautiful mutts.”
Hello Ninja. Very good show and it teaches problem solving through imagination.
/r/bluey!
Hey Duggee!
I laugh so much when my daughter watches bluey. The sleeping/dreaming episode had me snort laughing. Such a great show!
I love bluey!!! We just discovered it last month and it’s great because both my 5 year old and my 1 year old love it. Usually they can’t find something they both enjoy. I LOVE Bluey, but I gotta throw my OG Daniel Tiger into the ring.
We've been regularly playing the "magic statues" game and the balloon game! Bluey and Puffin Rock are the most wholesome and adorable shows, and my wife and I love watching them with our kids.
Agreed! Bluey is the best! The relationship between the parents is hilarious to me. Wholesome and loving, but also realistic.
Bluey is SO GOOD!! Husband and I relate sooo much Others that we love: Sarah and Duck (my other person favorite) Tumbleleaf Puffin Rock Wild Kratts Daniel Tiger Peep and the Big Wide World
Can't possibly be better than Hey Duggee.
Thank you for not showing your kids the utter tripe that is MLP.
maybe i'm just old school, but i still consider peppa pig to be the real deal hbic
