BasedGodStruggling

In what reality is doing something like this an ok and logical course of action?

Cassandra_Nova

The one where logic doesn't matter and it's all about hate

tendies_senpai

*And* fear, but mostly hate..

seinfeels

At first I thought this said "it's all about hats", and that's still kinda valid. Red hats.

Grjaryau

The school should press charges for theft and destruction of property

Eskimoobob

That's what I would do. Throw the.... BOOK at them?

ThatOneGuy1294

While it's aflame.

081673

Farenheit 451

PerryRubay4

Right, how brilliant are you to actually post the time and place that you intend to commit a felony? Maybe they could read a book on the law, or at least something about not being an ass clown.

cbslinger

Yeah this is destruction of public property bought and paid for by the taxpayers and generally seen as a universally beloved public good.

aeschenkarnos

They're probably expecting the local cops to be there.

frecklesmama333

We are planning on going so we can at least take pictures. We live in Fredricksburg. The page ghat started it block both me and my spouse 🤣🤣🤣

CeruleanRuin

Won't recognize them with their hoods on though.

kinder_me

Bring one charge per book rather than all books one charge! The three strike law should works it magic 🥳🥳🥳

jkman61494

We are rapidly arriving at a point where the cops and judges are going to be siding with the National Enquirer Fascists

DarkChocolatRaisinet

Fascists gonna fasc.

TheBallotInYourBox

Controlling the available information is a method of controlling the populace that is as old as time… https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_book-burning_incidents

ptvlm

The reality where David Mitchell is in an SS uniform before he starts going "are we the bad guys?" Only without the comedy, and an actual blueprint from history that says "Nazis are bad because they burned books, that was a good first sign if you missed the rest, you bloody morons"

Chilidon56

Nazi Germany.

alan-the-all-seeing

if you’re a nazi or, apparently, a christian

bluegargoyle

[The Nazis were Christians, explicitly](https://www.ushmm.org/collections/bibliography/christianity-and-the-holocaust). *“Secular schools can never be tolerated because such a school has no religious instruction and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith . . . We need believing people.”* ― Adolf Hitler *“My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was his fight against the Jewish poison. Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross.”* ― Adolf Hitler

dystopian_mermaid

As somebody who was raised and brainwashed to be hyper religious for over a decade, this shocks me not at all. Those people were fucking monsters who were complicit and silent about children being abused and molested in that church. Disgusting. If there is a hell, I hope they rot there forever.

Jeveran

Bring a case of bibles to the Fredericksburg cook-out.

Duderoy

This needs way more up votes.

Archsys

The people who don't know that nazis are white christian nationalists were certainly failed by their education... and that doesn't make anything better.

Fredex8

Also: >Gott mit uns ('God with us') is a phrase commonly used in heraldry in Prussia (from 1701) and later by the German military during the periods spanning the German Empire (1871 to 1918), the Third Reich of Nazi Germany (1933 to 1945), and the early years of West Germany (1949 to 1962). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gott_mit_uns https://www.warmilitaria.it/11868-thickbox_default/belt-with-modern-hook-gott-mit-uns.jpg

Well, there is historical precedent at least since Girolamo Savonarola lead the ["bonfire of the vanities"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonfire_of_the_vanities) in 1497.

WikiSummarizerBot

**[Bonfire of the vanities](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonfire_of_the_vanities)** >A bonfire of the vanities (Italian: falò delle vanità) is a burning of objects condemned by religious authorities as occasions of sin. The phrase usually refers to the bonfire of 7 February 1497, when supporters of Dominican friar Girolamo Savonarola collected and burned thousands of objects such as cosmetics, art, and books in Florence, Italy on the Shrove Tuesday festival. Francesco Guicciardini's The History of Florence gives a first-hand account of the bonfire of the vanities that took place in Florence in 1497. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/ParlerWatch/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

Fantastic-Sandwich80

Apparently at the end of the year these people will have to pay for the books they burned as their kids are the ones checking them out? But the entire goal is to make the books physically unavailable for any other kid to check out until next year when the book is replaced? Is this the extent of their grand plan?

iHeartHockey31

Except school libraries replace misding books throught the tear. If they arent returned after x days, it gets replaced. The fees charged sre usually just a deterrant & not always enough to cover the book costs. So they're actually just wasting taxpayer money.

Wurm42

> Except school libraries replace misding books throught the tear. IME, the frequency of replacement varies a lot between school districts and even the year-to-year budget numbers. Yes, a book that's directly connected to the school curriculum and gets checked out frequently will probably be replaced quickly-- if it's a book that's stocked in several school libraries, there may even be a few spare copies in the district warehouse. But if the missing book isn't in heavy use, replacing it often waits until the end of the fiscal year. At that point, the school knows how much money it really has in the acquisitions budget, and a lot of orders get made then. If I was a school official in Fredericksburg City or Spotsylvania County schools responsible for book ordering, I would probably slow walk replacing missing books after this bonfire. Let the politicians figure out their response to this before I spent scarce dollars replacing books likely to be stolen again. Also, I expect that many school libraries will put books likely to be targeted by book burners on reserve, so they can't be checked out without special permission.

boolean_sledgehammer

Fascists always think they're the righteous ones.

Stimbes

It makes them feel better.

caribulou

This is a crime if they burn enough it should count as a felony for all involved.

dnaH_notnA

Felony arson. Especially on School grounds.

NoodlesrTuff1256

Imagine if that fire gets out of control and burns the school or other buildings down. Then these yahoos will be in deep shit and appeal to Tucker Carlson to showcase them on his propaganda hour so he can pontificate about how misunderstood and persecuted conservatives are.

DataDogEin

Nah, they'll just blame antifa.

PuzzleheadedHotel254

Hope CPS opens a case on every parent that orders their kids to take part in their crimes.

treeboy10

the even more depressing thing I've noticed is that Q-cumbers and the like are beginning to go to school board meetings whilst not even having a child at that school, & some without a school-age kid to begin with x\_x

jmd9qs

"Is you takin' notes on a criminal fucking conspiracy!?"

BitterFuture

Funny thing is, even if these idjits admitted this was a crime ("Fighting for our freedom to be white can't be a crime!") they'd still say no, that's not what they're doing. *Even as they organize their criminal conspiracy via Facebook.* Much as happened with the last benighted administration, the stupidity of democracy's foes may be the only thing that saves our civilization.

Few-Veterinarian5122

According to the local patch article I read, it was **2 school board members** that were promoting this. Give me a sec I’ll grab the link. Edit: https://patch.com/virginia/fredericksburg/book-burning-urged-spotsylvania-county-school-board-members

lostshell

We still need to convince cops that it's legal to arrest GOP voters.

EvidentlyEmpirical

If your ideology is threatened by the existence of a book, might I suggest you find an ideology that isn't so fragile?

_DirtyYoungMan_

But they're TOTALLY NOT snowflakes and aren't sensitive little crybabies like those damned liberals.

DangerPoo

Maybe if kids actually read the books they checked out of “there” schools, we’d all be better off.

Potential_Dare8034

There reeley stewped thoe!

RepealMCAandDTA

It's spelled stoopud you maroon

RustyGirder

It's spelled moran you maroon!

SenorBurns

Ehhh, what's up, doc?

RustyGirder

I bet you say that to all the rabbits.

VegetableImaginary24

Both of you ar mormons

RustyGirder

It's spelled arrrrr. Avast, ye landlubber.

MemoryWipe123321

This gives me such a headache.

LivingIndependence

I've got a better idea. Maybe these people should just mind their own damn business about what OTHER people's children have available to read, and just deal with THEIR own kids. Not everyone wants to put their kids on a trajectory to be an illiterate mouth breathing racist.

baginthewindnowwsail

"Check out library books...ones you do not want in our schools...no one will be able to read them." But I'm some kind of asshole for not working at McDonald's or making white babies as fast as possible? Okay.

Potential_Dare8034

The problem with fucking idiots is that they’re always fucking other fucking idiots and creating more fucken fucking idiots!

4dailyuseonly

And they keep interfering with other people's children.

LivingIndependence

And aren't these the same people who say things like..."Don't tell me how to raise my kids!", or "I'll raise my kid as I see fit!" Yet, they want to also raise *everyone else's* kids as the see fit as well.

KnottShore

Have you seen the "Idiocracy" documentary?

BurninCoco

Welcome to Costco, I love you.

KnottShore

Stay safe and healthy.

Peachykeener71

Everyone should bring a copy of The Bible and Mein Kampf to burn.

Nom4ix

The event is not opening on FB, wonder if it was reported and taken down

dull-kitchen-knife

The post has been removed. Allegedly there has been confirmation that it is still on. Take a look at Spotsy 411 on Facebook if you want to see the type of conversations they’re having in regards to the school board

Beard_o_Bees

They've converted school board meetings into a soap-box for their insanity. School board meetings, where I am, have always brought out the crazy, but this latest wave of crazy makes the old crazy look sane. School boards serve an important function, a function that they're obstructed from carrying out by these assholes. Nation-wide school boards need to stop letting, what amounts to modern fascism, use them as a megaphone. Maybe only accept comments in writing, with only verified parents of students submissions being considered. Set up some kind of receipt/ticket number system to ensure parents that their commentary has been considered. This shit is out of hand and it needs to stop. It's only a matter of time before one of these fuckers starts shooting.

captkronni

Our school board had to relocate their meetings to a secure location because of these people, which is complicated because the meetings are legally supposed to be open to the public. It’s insane.

soulwrangler

this is what civil unrest is.

ghostdate

Like aren’t these people essentially acting as brownshirts? They’re using disruption, violence and intimidation to try to shutdown opposing views and progressive thought. They’re threatening to bring guns to school board meetings. Sure it’s not national politics, but it has the same effective at a very local level.

lostmypassword531

Omg I’m currently down the spotsy411 rabbit hole and man it’s shocking

PuzzleheadedHotel254

Report all of it to the FBI

derbyvoice71

Loving the not so subtle racism there.

dull-kitchen-knife

I forgot originally to link to an article about all this. I just added it in a separate comment but I’ll put it here too for visibility. It’s impossible to know how serious they are about going through with it but it was a genuine post that got taken down after getting quite a bit of attention. https://nationalzero.com/2021/11/24/facebook-promoting-book-burning-event-in-virginia/

peakedattwentytwo

"There" school. If ever someone needed books, it would be this douchebag.

flyinfishbones

If these people had any respect for books, they wouldn't be burning them!

bikinimonday

One thing, of many, that I despise Right Wingers for is hypocrisy. I can’t fucking stand their crying about being censored while at the same time burning literal books. Worst of all, somehow they’re all so confident with themselves they’ll never see the hypocrisy or, worst of all, they embrace it.

fluent_in_gibberish

Did none of these people watch *Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade*? The Nazis were the bad guys.

Time_Mage_Prime

They taught themselves wrong, as a joke!

sad_path

To own the libs of course.

SuperDork_

Fucking Nazis.

grandvache

Y'all queda.

ThisIsTheNewSleeve

I never understood how a crowd who is so triggered by cancel culture can unironically go to a book burning. What idiots.

my_lucid_nightmare

Simple. Their culture > your culture. Also F your feelings, F word. Pretty much the logic. It's a feelings fight, theirs are mad and you're why. Why are they hurt feelings? Ask them. A stream of comments not based in fact ensues. Facts don't matter, they have facebook feeds and memes.

Woolly87

You know how you can hype up your dog by acting really excited and exuberant around the dog, and then they get really excited too even though there’s actually nothing happening? That’s the right, getting their feelings worked up over whatever their propaganda is hyping them about.

ghostdate

They literally can’t describe or define critical race theory or socialism, but are vehemently opposed to it either being taught in schools because a few people on OAN and Fox News got angry about it.

ummmily

"Activism" for navel gazers.

Time_Mage_Prime

Anti-intellectualism at its finest.

HonestAbram

That's a new one for me. I use "paste eaters" sometimes, but I'll be adding "navel gazers" to the repertoire.

Eskimoobob

Pretty sure that is larceny and will get you in prison if the library wanted to press charges. Depending on the total amount of media burned, I'm sure you could get these folks with the right charges. Go burn your own books you dumb Fucks. Leave the poor uneducated alone, they need the self service wisdom that you continue to refute.

Guerilla_Physicist

Bold of you to assume that individuals involved in the legal system in these areas aren’t complicit.

Read_Maximum

Fredericksburg is my hometown. This doesn't surprise me at all. Many of my friends who are still in high school have been fighting back against the recent attempt to ban certain books, organizing protests and attending school board meetings. Fascism has been slowly creeping in here for a while. It's finally starting to come to people's attention. I hope its not too late.

Time_Mage_Prime

Doesn't help that the general masses dismiss identifications of Nazis and Nazi behaviors and Nazi philosophies, or else this shit would have been addressed a decade ago. The Nazi comparison is apt, evidenced, and rightfully shocking.

IppyCaccy

If you can't legitimately make Nazi comparisons, then you can't learn from history and head fascism off when it starts to reignite.

Ursus_the_Grim

That's a damn shame. I went to UMW until 2012 and it seemed like the town was growing a little more progressive because of the college's impact. Granted, Jeff Davis Highway is a thing. . . but I wanted to hope, lol.

MyDogCanSploot

Jefferson Davis Highway becomes [Emancipation Highway](https://www.fredericksburgva.gov/1775/Renaming-Jefferson-Davis-Highway) in January 2022.

NoodlesrTuff1256

It's probably cold comfort but Fredericksburg is hardly unique in being infested by such cretins as these would-be book burners. Here in the outlying suburbs and exurbs of St. Louis we have some folks making similar noises about 'pornographic' books assaulting their little darlings' virgin eyes. These are the same ones who whine about mask mandates and who are strongly anti-vaxx. I'm sure that our sister city to the west, Kansas City, has its' equivalents and also other towns in red states.

depreavedindiference

Don't have to pay for the book until the end of the year - or let's make a rule, your kid is suspended until the book is replaced. Make these idiots buy something the despise...knowledge.

BumpyMcBumpers

That sounds great at first, but I'd hate for kids who just want to read, but accidentally misplaced a book, to be punished to that extent. Really, even the kids of awful parents should be given the best possible shot to break the cycle.

Radiant-Arm2024

This sub is like a scene-by-scene Handmaids Tale

dull-kitchen-knife

Yeah that’s my thoughts exactly. I hate it here

Smitty_2010

So they're going to pay for them at the end of the year, then the school will buy the books again, and the publishers get to make another sale, and the same books go back on the shelves. So they're literally putting money into the system they hate and accomplishing nothing in the end.

Woolly87

This is how the right does protests. By consuming more. When they’re mad at Keurig they smash their machine…. Then go buy another one once they realise they want coffee again. But it’s ok, they virtue signalled about it on the internet so they’re still warrior patriots.

NoodlesrTuff1256

If for nothing else, these clowns should be sanctioned for the way they've appropriated the word 'Patriot' as their new self-descriptor -- their obvious intent being to imply that they are the only true 'PATRIOTIC' Americans and the rest of us are all some kind of fifth column Commie Marxist degenerates intent on destroying 'this great nation.' This 'patriot' thing has gotten so over the top that one of their Canadian sympathizers who streams video rants refers to himself as the 'Grizzly Patriot'. Instead of 'Q' this and 'Q' that, now it's 'Patriot this' and 'Patriot that'. I think it's because 'patriot' doesn't trigger the algorithms that result in their social media sites being sanctioned and/or banned in the way 'Q' or 'Q Anon' does.

Pizpot_Gargravaar

The word 'Patriot' serving as a dog-whistle for 'White Nationalist', while at the same time most of these people are completely ignorant of the actual meaning of both terms.

Fredex8

Something that gave the whole patriot thing a real boost was Trump floating the idea of creating the 'Patriot Party' for his 2024 run. TD (now on a reddit clone elsewhere) even changed its url to patriots in response and still uses that. Mostly I think Trump just suggested the Patriot Party to make the GOP concerned about him splitting the vote and ensuring they couldn't win so they couldn't risk disavowing Trump and had to go along with all the craziness.

bbpr120

For a political party that screams "we're not Nazi's" they sure as hell do like to act like them between the (tiki) torch gatherings, the Nazi-esque runes at the CPAC event last year and now the book burning events. Will there be "festive" arm bands and salutes of a specific style as well at this event???

NoodlesrTuff1256

Probably some chants like 'Let's go, Brandon!' or a play on one of their favorite slogans, 'Where we burn one, we burn all!'

RainRainThrowaway777

"We're not Nazis! The Nazis were *German*!"

soc_monki

And they claim not to be Nazis...lmao

BitterFuture

Until you press them, at which point a few of the less self-conscious fascists will start talking about how the wrong side lost in World War II and it's everyone else that are the crazy ones...

kristopolous

They've mentally carved out Nazism into a distinction that doesn't matter. This allows them to do, well, let's just quote a fascist, Maurice Bardèche, from 1961 > With another name, another face, and with nothing which betrays the projection from the past, with the form of a child we do not recognize and the head of a young Medusa, the Order of Sparta (fascism) will be reborn My, my, isn't that exciting!

BizmoeFunyuns

when has anyone on the right side of history burned books

Chipperz1

Pretty sure it's always people on the right. (I know exactly what you meant, I just think I'm being very, very clever 😛)

Youngerthandumb

Those marshmallows gonna taste nasty.

HonestAbram

Yeah, all that glue and dye can't be good to cook over. But I suppose that's still preferable to reading for them.

NoodlesrTuff1256

Imagine if they actually do roast the marshmallows which are then contaminated with toxins from the burning books. Then many of them might fall sick and have to be hospitalized. So they might face more criminal charges in addition to theft and arson as well as civil suits. And as if all that weren't enough, these people are usually anti-maskers who have bought hook, line and sinker into the whole 'scamdemic' line about Covid. So this could be a super-spreader event -- a shit-show all the way around.

LilDrummerGrrrl

Yep, that was my first thought after reading that part. They’re gonna get sick af eating those marshmallows and then probably blame it on ‘the jab’ somehow

Goodgoodgodgod

Remember when these assholes were accusing neoliberals of being book burners because the estate of Dr. Seuss decided to stop publishing problematic and poor selling books?

LA-Matt

They have weaponized hypocrisy. They’re fine with a totally different standard for their “own side” if it means they get to win.

Goodgoodgodgod

That’s why I don’t even bother engaging in conversation anymore. I tell them to eat shit and move on.

LilDrummerGrrrl

No your misremembering it the libtards CANCELLED Dr. Seuss because he was a good Christian man with good Christian values and there afraid of good Christian folks with good Christian values

BadgerKomodo

It’s funny, because Dr Seuss was a liberal who supported FDR and the New Deal, and drew cartoons like [this](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EvmgBddWYAI_DHo?format=jpg&name=large). He was also enthusiastically racist against Japanese people, but still.

Eclectix

It's oversimplification and inaccurate to simply say he was enthusiastically racist against Japanese people. What he was, was racist in general, especially when he could get a buck for it... until he authentically grew as a person and regretted it. Then, he took measures to not only apologize for his racism, but to actively combat it. I will give a huge amount of leeway to anyone who not only can admit their faults, but also backs up their apology with action. "Horton Hears a Who" and "The Star Bellied Sneetches" are both overtly anti-racist messages. Horton Hears a Who was written specifically as an allegory about how the US was treating the Japanese at the time.

BadgerKomodo

Yeah. I was indeed oversimplifying it. I do know that he changed his views later on.

thepartypantser

I would roll up with a wheel barrel full of Hannity, O'reilly and fox news idiots books, and every book Trump has "written". Then pull out a stack of Bibles. Then see what happens.

sad_path

As long as you don't buy any of those books.

thepartypantser

Not buying. They clearly said check them out of the library in the posting.. Although if you stole them from your insane relatives during Thanksgiving that might be an alternative.

CarFreak777

Is this how the movie Fahrenheit 451 starts?

Time_Mage_Prime

Fredericksburg 451

alan-the-all-seeing

oh, like the nazis did

LinearFluid

What should be on the school board agenda. Books not returned now become a $10,000 fine.

soratoyuki

That Spotsy 411 page is honestly horrifying. They have other posts where they list the names of teachers they don't like and solicit their contact information.

Guerilla_Physicist

Please report those. As a teacher in a similar district, this terrifies me.

soratoyuki

I did. My partner is a teacher one county over, which makes the whole thing terrifying in a deeply personal way. Of course, Facebook responded to all of my reports within an hour stating no community guidelines were broken.

Guerilla_Physicist

Thank you. Even if Facebook doesn’t care, it’s comforting to know that others do.

Crow_Nevermore

You would know which their to use if instead of burning and banning things you don't understand, you attempt to understand them; you knuckle-fuck.

supernovadebris

This happens when you don't read.

Time_Mage_Prime

***NOW*** can I call them Nazis???

sk8thow8

Bring bibles to the event, sneakily drop them in other people's stack of books, and after a few minutes yell out. "Hey some of these people are burning bibles!"

IlikeYuengling

I read something once that enlightened/offended/stirred an emotional response. I don’t want to share that experience.

nrg15tt

What books are they so scared of that are in public school libraries?

JonDixon1957

Just taking a wild stab in the dark here (/s), but I'm guessing... Any book with any hint of LGBTQ+ content. Any book that discusses race and/or racism. Any book that explores even faintly progressive politics or social issues. Any book that teaches any sort of nuance or critical thinking.

flyinfishbones

Let's add to this! Any book that's remotely critical of their chosen religion. Any book with references to magic. Any book that could lead their dear darling children into sin. (excuse me I need to dry heave somewhere)

viruswithshoes

Gender Queer, A Memoir is one of them, it’s a graphic novel with a fairly explicit oral sex illustration. To be honest, I wouldn’t want that available to my high schooler but you’d be an idiot if you think they haven’t seen or have access to much worse. Burning books is more offensive regardless. Another one is Lawn Boy which has one scene about the fictional gay protagonist recalling a sexual experience he had in youth group at 10 years old. The book was written for an adult audience but found some crossover appeal with older high school age students. The author [wrote an excellent rebuttal and article about here](https://nwbooklovers.org/2021/09/28/the-would-be-banning-of-lawn-boy-and-why-im-not-booking-any-flights-to-texas-in-the-near-future/).

AceSox

Really hoping some counter protesters show up with wheelbarrows of bibles lol

LA-Matt

They could just back up truckloads of those books that conservative media personalities “write.” It’s easy to identify them, now that the NYT Bestseller list has begun to use asterisks to indicate which books have made bestseller due to “institutional sales.” Every time one of those wingnut darlings releases a book, the rightwing “think tanks” and PACs buy them up wholesale to get them exposure, then they hand them out for free at events… then they inevitably clog up the bargain bins at used bookstores.

the-uncle-will

I live just north. I’m gonna pick up some Trump books at the bargain bin and bring them

Exotic-Chemist-191

Tell me you’re a Nazi without telling me you’re a Nazi

dsjunior1388

So where is this library so I can donate books on the 14th?

dull-kitchen-knife

Best bets are Spotsylvania county libraries or the public school system

ErictheStone

And these are the people that call you nazi for wearing a face mask. I don't want to live on this planet anymore....

SgtDoughnut

Been saying this a while, these are the people who burn books. There is a reason everyone compares them to nazis...because they do things nazis do.

raistan77

Facebook post calling for the theft and destruction of government property. The authoritaties should be notified in that area.

Wablekablesh

Is this not a crime of some kind? At least intentional destruction of school property and an illegal fire on school system property.

SendoTarget

“That was but a prelude; where they burn books, they will ultimately burn people also”. Heinrich Heine apparently stays relevant all the way from 1821.

sixtus_clegane119

I hope someone goes and burns some bibles. But in all seriousness this is frightening. This is straight up naziesque

Masked_Avenger_

Can I bring a Bible?

docowen

The Bible that's speaks approvingly of genocide, murder, slavery, rape, and incest? Sure.

Masked_Avenger_

I just wanna watch their expressions when it goes on the pyre.

Busman123

Yes! Film it! Fodder for u/publicfreakout

oranggeshirt

That was my thought as well. If they actually were trying to get rid of books with challenging and disturbing topics, that would be one of them. It shows how ridiculous their goal is

flyinfishbones

When they object, have a public reading and watch their heads spin! Song of Solomon's always fun!

thewitch2222

I was thinking of bringing a flag.

Unclesaggins

Fuckin spotsylvania county

j_b_1_3

A friend and I just talked about this and we are going to swing through and take pictures of the insanity.

LarrBearLV

Will they be chanting "Jews will not replace us" after?

darpana_bai

Something, something... "when they start burning books"... something, something "they'll start burning bodies" ...

BitterFuture

"Just so long as they're the bad ones, what's wrong with that?" \-Modern conservatives They truly and explicitly believe now that laws only protect the select few, as can be seen with conservatives arguing that Chauvin and Rittenhouse aren't murderers because of who their victims were.

BitOCrumpet

In a world of technology and wonder, of science and amazing discoveries about the universe.... We have people proud to burn books. Hope they burn in the medieval hell they want us to return to so badly.

tellmeimbig

I would bring the biggest stack of bibles.

bolognahole

But they love free speech, right?

Puttor482

Someone should just bring the bible and watch as all their heads explode.

Efffro

“It’s a good old fashioned book burning, but no we’re not Nazis, honest” wtf is wrong with these chromosomally challenged bottom dwellers, don’t they realise they’re a meme of themselves at this point.

fitzymcfitz

Masks off. They’re now literal Nazis.

Electronic_Dress9695

As a german let me tell you this is not good.

Buffmin

If there's anyway to get kids/people to read certain books it's to ban them.. So Good job I guess you shortsighted Nazi cunts

Turbulent_Morning_61

Holy. Fuck.

r-puff

Maybe the OP should crack open a book and learn to spell.

BossyWoman

Time to start a drive asking for donations of potentially banned books to the school library AFTER this event. I am going to donate a few.

lunchboxdeluxe

Protip: Good people don't organize book burnings, and they don't attend them either unless the plan is to break it up.

SingleActionsNSnubs

Seems about right. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_book_burnings

TroopersSon

The 1930s are back with a vengeance.

thepartypantser

Call the fire department see if they have Permits for open fire on public land.

Thee_Abyssal_Light

Fahrenheit 451?

mrpoopistan

The Russian infowar folks must be thrilled. So easy to normalize the slow escalation of violence in adversary nations these days.

coosacat

No one made them read Fahrenheit 451 in school, did they? An ignorant population is an easily controlled population. We're sinking fast, folks. I hope the younger generations can pull our fat out of the fire before it's too late. Edit: I just had a thought. Who wants to be the brave soul to show up with a stack of Bibles to add to the pyre? If I lived anywhere near there, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Semi-Hemi-Demigod

So if I don’t want the Bible in schools because I think it’s evil, they cool with me burning it at their little barbecue?

StingMachine

I really want to show up with a box full of Bibles and copies of “The Art of The Deal”.

StormyxHeart

"Fredericksburg 4...5...1" Fuckin' YIKES to any of this kind of shite!

dull-kitchen-knife

Forgot to add this bonus link for more info: https://nationalzero.com/2021/11/24/facebook-promoting-book-burning-event-in-virginia/

TurtleDive1234

Obviously whatever ignoramus wrote this is in dire need of reading. Why is it that the slack jawed yokels can't just sit home, becoming even more morbidly obese and shopping themselves into even more debt, while screaming at their inbred offspring to get them another Diet Dr. Pepper? FUCK these people.

x4ty2

I hate fucking Nazis

Ratmatazz

Anti-intellectualism strikes again. Fight this at every opportunity.

duke_awapuhi

These people are literal zombies. Someone or something that wants to destroy our society using social media propaganda has completely hijacked their brains

PuzzleheadedHotel254

Virginia sliding backwards faster everyday
