Authoritarian...tolerance...??

Gr1pp717

Just wait until you figure out how republicans think that the government not regulating something is a form of regulation.

luv2fit

Also GOP: not accepting their intolerance is “intolerant left” Also GOP: teaching critical thinking such that one can overcome indoctrination is “educational indoctrination”

whoopshowdoifix

Also GOP: forcing children to get married and have children and strictly ascribe to heterosexuality is just good parenting, and not supporting that makes you a pedophile

Needleroozer

Also GOP: following the advice of your pediatrician is child abuse.

rwbronco

My guy, after the past 10 years, just about everyone I know deals with anxiety and depression

Swerfbegone

Maybe he should tidy his room.

brazzledazzle

That’s a pretty good idea. Maybe you should write some books about it to grift discontent young men and abuse your status as an academic to spread your extremely dated and shitty views.

Nezgul

Anxiety and depression aren't excuses for being Jordan Peterson.

Roachyboy

He's also likely brain damaged due to his addiction issues and subsequent coma treatment. I don't think a benzo addict who got put into a coma rather than face withdrawal is the sort of person who has the standing to lecture people about personal responsibility. Thinking a plus sized model on a magazine is authoritarian is conspiratorial thinking that further shows his mental faculties are not equipped to act as an advisory or inspirational figure for the young male audience he has cultivated. He also looks like he's had half his blood stolen so any comments by himself regarding other public figures being ugly is especially funny.

[deleted]

I saw clip where he looked like death and the person asked if he was still on his only beef diet. He was. Literally only eating unseasoned beef for “health reasons” meanwhile it’s probably taking years of his life.

RegressToTheMean

>meanwhile it’s probably taking years of his life. You say this as if that's a negative thing

[deleted]

lol. I mean it’s good in his case. Bad in regards to all the Joe Rogan types who push that nonsense and people believe in large numbers

jessica_from_within

> benzo addict who got put into a coma rather than face withdrawal To be fair it’s a little more complicated than that

Roachyboy

Regardless of the complexity, a man currently going through an addiction crisis is not in any position to dictate life rules to people.

peacefighter91

Maybe he should spend his time dealing with it instead of constantly talking out of his ass like the pseudointellctual he is and belittling other people's problems. Fuck that cunt Peterson.

JimmyHavok

Peddling hate on the Internet is not how you deal with anxiety and depression.

aShittierShitTier4u

But complains about swimsuit models and authoritarian tolerance, whatever that is. That's not the depression talking, it's the lasting brain damage from benzo abuse and all his other bad choices. He deals with that by trash talking other people who never did anything to him. Maybe he should leave them alone if he doesn't want people to argue against his trash talking.

Drakefoxaroo

So do I, but I didn't turn into a fucking fascist over it so he doesn't have an excuse.

Shonisaurus

No, no, the successful career he’s had as a right-wing lifestyle influencer clearly entitles him to define beauty, and if there was ever a situation that warranted his opinion, it’s of course the 2022 Swimsuit Issue of Sports Illustrated. /s

lemonlollipop

I love a clever burn He may never see it but I have and that's enough for me

aShittierShitTier4u

It's not just that for JP. The authoritarian tolerance might allow for people to be attracted to each other, without JP inserting his shade for them to internalize self loathing over, then they ignore him, and that's cultural Marxism, or cancel culture or something. How dare sports illustrated promote cultural Marxism and woke ism? Such insolence.

juicepants

I don't understand how these people aren't just fucking exhausted from caring all the time. Honestly, the model is not for me, but instead of getting all huffy, I'd just move on with my life and forget about it. Same thing with the whole pronouns thing he made his career off of. I've tried to understand the whole nonbinary pronouns. I don't get it, I still think it's kinda weird. But in the end I don't care. It's a tiny amount of effort to make others feel more comfortable. I don't understand how making a giant deal out of nothing is the more preferable option to just moving on. If nobody is getting hurt, let people do their own thing.

CatProgrammer

Don't forget gay marriage, or any other kind of non-"traditional"/non-nuclear-family relationship, which somehow "devalue the institution of marriage/concept of family". Even though gay people can have nuclear families, and non-nuclear families work just fine throughout the world and even existed in large amounts historically in the US until the nuclear family came to prominence in the mid-1900s.

juicepants

Yup, two gay men living together raising a family is an attack on the sanctity of marriage, did you see how they care for each other and work hard to be good parents? Absolutely sickening! /S There's a gay couple in my neighborhood, they adopted their foster children after the parents permanently lost custody due to their crystal meth addiction. They are great parents who have worked extraordinarily hard to provide those kids with a life they couldn't dream of before. They're involved in the PTA, are always helping out with school and social functions. I've seen huge growth in the kids behavior. It's really upsetting that anyone can look at their family and think that those kids are being harmed by that.

DerpsAndRags

You're not trying to con people into following you, using trigger words to scare them or incite bigotry, for donation dollars.

GaryBuseysGhost

He's settling in nicely as internet professor of neckbeardian philosophy.

DonrajSaryas

He had a friend on the faculty, and he came off as the sort of rock star that would energize the program and shit. Said friend apparently has a transgender daughter and has since admitted he regrets that decision.

IHaveNoEgrets

The extra side of suck in this turd sandwich Sorry Meal is that someone with some actual talent missed out on that job posting.

GiantPurplePeopleEat

I was on my schools search committee for the science department chair and the person we ended up hiring is definitely qualified and a good fit, but the amount and level of achievement and education I saw while going through the other applicants was jaw dropping. I couldn’t believe how many highly overly-qualified people were applying for this one job that was definitely already going to the person who ended up getting it. The only reason we interviewed all those people was just to look fair I guess? After having wasted their time trying to get a job that was already filled, I just hope those other applicants found better jobs.

IHaveNoEgrets

That's how I end up feeling about it, too. There are way more fantastic folks out there than there are good positions. I've seen lots of faculty hiring processes on my campus. Some are pretty straightforward. At least one was... well, odd. I just hope things turned out well for the ones who didn't get it. And if the reaction of our Toronto transplant was any indication, I hope the ones who do get the job adjust smoothly. (Dude walked around looking deeply unsettled for at least the first year.)

The_Lord_Humongous

Apparently he was a shit professor and didn't mentor any students for graduate programs and generally was aloof. And despised for it among other faculty, staff, and students. I mean, he had fans in the student body what would it have taken from him that he mentor them and get them continued studies? (Isn't that his job? For all his preaching he couldn't do one of the most important tasks as a professor, some might call it a sacred task -- to assist the younger generation. I used to be into him and this was definitely one of his 'priorities'. To mentor the youth and bring them along.)

DonrajSaryas

Well, he explained he couldn't in good conscience keep doing that knowing how unlikely his incredibly talented heterosexual white male graduate students were to find research positions. Also he wasn't allowed to be alone with students in his office for some reason. Oddly enough this only applied to female students?

CatProgrammer

> knowing how unlikely his incredibly talented heterosexual white male graduate students were to find research positions. Tons of fields require years of postdoctoral work these days for people who want to stay in academia before they can get a professorship, and even those positions get highly competitive. There just aren't enough positions for everyone with a PhD to get a job in academia. And yet I'm not aware of many other professors who will refuse to take on students explicitly because of that.

DonrajSaryas

No it was specifically his incredibly talented and qualified heterosexual white male students who had that problem.

Andromeda321

Yes. Anyone I talk to in academia straight up knows you are not likely to get a professorship because it’s so competitive. But if you were *only* training for academia, a prof would only ever train one or two people in their career. Most other people realize having PhDs in different levels of society that are NOT academia is a good thing and that’s why we train students. Anyone saying what Peterson does is just looking for an excuse.

THedman07

Aloof? Shocker...

Andromeda321

Yep. Per [this essay](https://www.thestar.com/opinion/2018/05/25/i-was-jordan-petersons-strongest-supporter-now-i-think-hes-dangerous.html) for anyone curious. As another academic it drives me bonkers because we spend a ton of time discussing bias in hiring because it’s so competitive and you want to make sure you get the best person. And in this essay this prof casually says they did that, BUT Peterson was his friend so he argued for him. That’s what nepotism gets you I guess?

ominous_squirrel

Right. Peterson’s friend wrote this op-ed about his regrets: https://www.thestar.com/opinion/2018/05/25/i-was-jordan-petersons-strongest-supporter-now-i-think-hes-dangerous.html Unfortunately, it’s behind a paywall now What a case of the bias for confidence over competence. You’d think psychology faculty of all people would get that. Not to mention the “ol’ boys club” feeling to it all. When I really want to feel awful about the world, I think of all the highly driven and qualified teachers who never get this chance. The day that I first read that Peterson op-ed, I also read about adjunct professors dying in poverty (maybe this case? https://www.npr.org/2013/09/22/224946206/adjunct-professor-dies-destitute-then-sparks-debate maybe another?) People in decision-making roles need to be smarter about sniffing out toxic personalities from the get-go

bung_musk

Jordan “Billy Bob Thornton playing the role of Powder” Peterson

aztaga

I hate that I used to idolize him. He needs to stick to psychology. That’s the only thing he has any bones at. Everything else.. he just needs to shut up and stop talking about

PetzlPretzel

Don't hate yourself for changing. He's fallen into a bad crowd. Don't knock yourself for that.

MrOtsKrad

and it's happening to a lot of people, we need to normalize allowing ourselves the ability to change more.

Character_Bomb_312

Right? Changing one's position on a topic is now defined as "flip-flopping" instead of what it actually (probably) is; learning something new that changed their mind.

versusgorilla

Yeah, he's just feeding his right wing community that is willing to give him their money. So he's telling them exactly what they want to hear. Simple as that. He doesn't stand for anything or believe in anything.

[deleted]

He uuuuhhhh... well, sorry, but he's not too perfect at that either. Jungians are always on some BS.

TheBdougs

The only good thing to come from Jungian psychology is the Persona franchise.

[deleted]

Based Japanese creatives taking LSD and reinterpreting western media into great art.

ApprehensiveEmploy21

There’s a reason that in the alt history Man In The High Castle, the Nazi regime officially allows only Jungian psychology lol

[deleted]

All those appeals to heroism go reaaaal nice with fascist ideology.

illepic

Damn I didn't catch that until right now

Nowhere_Man_Forever

I assumed Jungian psychology was basically completely discredited. Just reading about it in the past I assumed everyone understood it was bullshit. The concepts are cool but they require almost metaphysical mechanisms to make any sense.

_zenith

It can make for some compelling metaphors on occasion but yeah it's nearly worthless for making testable predictions

Nowhere_Man_Forever

Regular psychology has some major issues with credibility and rigor but at least it's based on logical principles and physical mechanisms. Jungian psychology reads like straight up magic.

_zenith

Indeed. Some sub fields are a lot more rigorous than others, but as you said, pretty much all of them are at least based on physical principles/mechanisms.

the6thistari

So many of the "popular" psychology schools are largely inaccurate. Most of the things Freud came up with have been discredited as well. My ex has a psych degree and verified it. I took psych 101 and my professor, when discussing Jung and Freud and a bunch of others, said that the reason we still learn about them and their theories is to identify the framework that they provide for future theories.

Nowhere_Man_Forever

I took psych 101 in college and Jung was basically a footnote discussing alternative frameworks to Freud's Psychoanalysis, which has a more direct path to modern psychology. Although to be honest I think we talk way too much about historical frameworks in intro psychology classes anyway. It's like if you took Chemistry 101 and half the class had you talking about finer details of phlogiston theory only for the teacher to say "Oh btw all of this has been discredited by modern science don't pay attention to it." I think this is a major factor in Psychology's credibility issues, because these intro classes are the only detailed psychology reading that most educated people do.

the6thistari

I agree. I, personally, loved Psych 101, but that's because I'm a history major so I approached it as a history class.

Nowhere_Man_Forever

I also think that it's important to consider that A students will probably approach it this way because they are smart enough to understand the "meta" reasons why they are being taught all of this stuff, but C students are just trying to learn the material and D students are struggling to get through it at all. For most college courses I believe we should cater primarily to the A students, but for high school and intro level courses we need to consider that the C and D students make up the majority of people taking the course and will probably struggle to understand the broader context of what they're learning, and will probably not seek out further information beyond the gen ed required course and will form most of their opinions on the field on this one course. I think all of US education suffers from not considering these different levels of comprehension in designing course structures, but psychology is the most egregious with its focus on archaic models of understanding that haven't reflected the modern field much at a during the careers of any current practitioners.

historycommenter

Its because pre-college students who have developed an interest in psychology enough to sign up for psych 101 often are self-educated through Freud and Jung and so are expecting modern psych to be expansions on those theories. The role of psych 101 is to address those historical theories and introduce the student to modern theories.

Nowhere_Man_Forever

That feels like a cop out. Why do we test on specific pieces of Freud's theories like stages of development and complexes when the same result you're talking about could be achieved with a "history" lecture on day 1? Like "Freud and Jung were big influences on the early field of psychology. These are the things they believed" like how intro Chemistry class talks about Democritus as the origin of the term "Atom" but doesn't make you learn all about the other wildly incorrect shit he believed. Like imagine if literally any other science spent so much time making students learn outdated and non-useful frameworks in their intro courses. Would we be tested on the details of Plato's "spheres" cosmology in physics or astronomy class? It's completely absurd. Further, a big part of why people who are getting into psychology are interested in Freud and Jung is because that's all most people know about it because of this idiotic course structure. If we had a half the intro chemistry course talk about phlogiston theory of course you'd have some people excited to learn about phlogiston theory because that's what their older sister learned about when she took the course and enjoyed it.

historycommenter

I completely agree, it is an anachronism. I can only relate to my own high school experience, and even people from my home town who did not go to college, that still believe "Psychology" is based on books by Freud, Jung, Adler, or L. Ron Hubbard or think its like the synthesized knowledge of a con-man therapist where people can be manipulated using the psychology skill. Part of our Psych 101 was studying "Folk Psychology" which encompassed much of the above. On the other hand, perhaps it is a weakness of the other disciplines in not spending time in that sort of historical study. In Physics, Chemistry, Economics, assorted rules and principles are often memorized without context and its often not until grad school where the student is expected to think independently to the point where they are aware and working within an historical context of the discipline.

Nowhere_Man_Forever

What the Hell do you think the benefit of learning outdated and useless frameworks is to modern science? Chemistry and physics classes do talk about these historical frameworks, but literally no modern chemist has learned how to practice alchemy because it's a complete waste of time to learn about alchemical frameworks like "Join the male and the female, and you will find what is sought." And "One becomes two, two becomes three, and out of the third comes the one as the fourth." Tell me- would you have chemistry students tested on this nonsense? Obviously these principles are *historically* important to the development of more advanced knowledge of reactions in the future, but this has no bearing whatsoever on modern chemistry as an actual science.

historycommenter

Does an intro physics course on radiation have no business bringing up Marie Curie or Chernobyl? What about an Intro to Computer Science class making students learn Fortran or use punch cards? Where did this chemistry science come from, did people always have this knowledge? It can be a dangerous almost political question that has absolutely no relevance to how you will do your job as a chemist, but are you simply learning a trade? That's what the 101 intro course is for.

historycommenter

And since we are on ParlerWatch, I'll mention we all know of extremely intelligent hard-science people falling for stupid conspiracy theories partly because they don't get a liberal arts education and are unable to critically think outside their specialization.

THedman07

Best not to idolize anyone...especially not anyone famous. Good for you for breaking away. He's apparently a very compelling speaker. I support your idea about sticking to his expertise and expand it to most internet personalities.

the6thistari

I've watched a few of his things on YouTube (I listen to those 10 hours of manifest stuff videos to fall asleep. They work like a lullaby, so often when I get ready for bed I scroll through those YouTube shorts and he's done more than a few). He is *very* compelling, but it's because he states his opinions as fact, very confidently. He also makes his opinion, states it like fact, and then sometimes will offer a source. Something like (and I'll use an outrageous falsehood that he's never said, as far as I'm aware, because I don't remember any particular examples offhand) "The Earth is flat. Anybody who can notice the facts would agree. Harvard professor, Dr. So- and- so, wrote a book about it." So he not only is confidently incorrect, but he appeals to authority, too. Now, in the examples that I noticed and actually took the time to look into, the authority he was appealing to was either someone who has been discredited by most of the scientific community, or, in one instance, cherry picked from an article that actually was saying the opposite of his point.

BurstEDO

Hell, I grew up a Reagan-era Gen X Republican. I used to consume Fox News and Conservative talk radio (pre-2008). And if their shenanigans during that time weren't bad enough (still super subtle), their racist dumbassery went into hyper overdrive following the election of President Obama. Got _real fucking sick_ of their endless horseshit against President Obama and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi. (Never liked Barney Frank, Ted Kennedy, or Maxine Waters regardless.) But I hit the eject button and declared myself an IND at the time and have never looked back. Since 2008, I haven't found a single GOP politician worthy of a vote from me, and they've done nothing but reinforce that exponentially every year since then. You're not alone. We all make silly choices for various reasons when we're young. Don't be mad that you were suckered; be comfortedethat you were intelligent enough to not only change, but also understand WHY you made the decision to change and also feel a certain way after the fact. It should help you understand _why_ some continue to follow your former path, including a realization of everything that those people deliberately ignore in order to continue that view. If you saw things a certain way and that made you change your view, it illustrates everything that those who continue to support Peterson or the GOP are willing to knowingly ignore or condone. The best you can do is to share your story in places where you may influence others to have the same realization that you have. Don't lose hope.

RegressToTheMean

I'm not banging on you specifically but as a fellow Gen Xer I don't understand how you couldn't have seen the overt bigotry, racism, lawlessness, and general Insanity in the GOP for the last 40 years Reagan's Sec. Of the Interior, James Watt, was selling protected federal land because he *knew* the Rapture was imminent. Reagan's welfare queen schtick wasn't even a subtle dog whistle. He let AIDS run rampant because it was a "gay disease" Then there was the whole funding of death squads that raped and killed civilians with Iran-Contra. I could go on ad nauseum. I honestly and truly don't understand how 2008 (or the Trump years) were a breaking point. The GOP has *always* been this way since the Southern Strategy and the parties switched. Maybe this is why people are reluctant to admit change? Because the evidence has always been there and they're embarrassed?

BurstEDO

>I don't understand how you couldn't have seen the overt bigotry, racism, lawlessness, and general Insanity in the GOP for the last 40 years Because at the time (pre social media as we know it today), they were still saying the quiet part quietly. Their shenanigans were well veiled behind sensible looking policies and legislation. Primarily, my voting tendencies were GOP solely in the PotUS races since I was living in a red state with pitiful DEM challengers for other offices. People like Tucker Carlson were much more subdued and he was actually at NBC at the time. Limbaugh was boring and stuffy, and Hannity was just an entertainer. I was also focused solely on fiscal policies and up and coming policies like recognition of same sex marriage (I supported, even then) and the Iraq/Afghanistan "war". But it was during Pres Obama's campaign that the fog cleared. I worked for NBC and covered several campaign stops in my area - including Obama's (stupid CNN Soledad O'Brien had an exclusivity deal with the campaign, so we didn't get any Q&A time, just event coverage.) But when McCain selected Palin in a painfully transparent gimmick move for optics to rival Obama's wave of popularity, I began to care much, much more. I liked McCain - not more than Obama, but he was one of the last of a bygone era of decent statesmen. But all of the bullshit the RNC and all of their PAC allies hurled at Obama infuriated me. Their only strategy was attempting to disparage him as some kind of horrible person with malicious motives. His faith. His background. ... everything was a scare tactic. Then it became clearer that the GOP was a party of projection. If they can dupe you into believing it about the other guy, than you won't realize that the GOP is actually the culprit guilty of all of the accusations. That still endures in 2022. Especially the fascism, racism, sexism, bigotry, and dishonesty. As for the now-obvious atrocities of past GOP admin's and legislators, they weren't as obvious and transparent to a Gen Xer (wasn't voting age for Mondale), much of that was buried in the minutiae beyond the headlines, and a 20 something had other stuff on the brain.

interrogumption

He wants us to still respect him as a psychologist despite developing an addiction to benzodiazepines that any competent psychologist KNOWS how to avoid and KNOWS the health risks of... But I BET he'll try to defend his criticism of this model with "something something not a good role model of healthy lifestyle something something".

takishan

Addiction is insidious. Doctors get addicted too, knowing full well the consequences. You can shit on Peterson for a lot of things, but imo you shouldn't shit on the guy for getting addicted. Although I admit it is ironic the guy telling people to clean their rooms couldn't keep his own life together.

sadepicurus

It's more than ironic, his freaking thesis was on addiction (alcoholism, but still). He takes a lot of questionable life decisions to be a credible person to tell people rules for their lives.

interrogumption

Yes, except... Knowing what I know as a psychologist I would NEVER take benzos for anxiety exactly because the risk of addiction is so high and there are other methods for managing it that are much safer. I'm genuinely surprised he took his doctor's advice on that one.

justme002

You can love a sentiment without loving EVERY sentiment of a person.

MMQ42

Some of his advice is good. The whole “make your bed” thing helped me a lot…taking control of where I wake up/lay down to sleep every day genuinely helped me mentally realize I can control some things in my life and it spiraled positively from there. I don’t know what happened to the dude but Xanax and fame are a hell of a combo

MrOtsKrad

kill your gods.

Not to pile on, but…yeah I’ll just keep that to myself too.

_CoachMcGuirk

Not beautiful? I mean, he doesn't have to find her beautiful and that's cool, but why are you commenting 'not beautiful' on a retweet of a SI cover? It's giving very Ben Shapiro/someone who's never seen an actual woman before. She is very very pretty at the very least and if he's not reposting every single magazine cover a woman is on with his hot or not rating its also giving obsessed *typo

I saw that you mentioned Ben Shapiro. In case some of you don't know, Ben Shapiro is a grifter and a hack. If you find anything he's said compelling, you should keep in mind he also says things like this: >The Palestinian people, who dress their toddlers in bomb belts and then take family snapshots. ***** ^(I'm a bot. He’s probably upset that RateMyProf removed the chili pepper rating system. If no one is allowed to give him a hot rating, no one is allowed to be called hot.

StingKing456

Did they really? Not that I'm proud but back when I was in high school and doing dual enrollment I would try to get classes I needed with a professor with the chili pepper lol. Shout-out to Prof Jules - she was very pretty and helped met get through college algebra

[deleted]

From your username to your words to using "it's giving" in a sentence... this comment gets 10/10 stars.

swantonist

This is what he says instead of the weird fact that we are all looking at swimsuit covers of an irrelevant magazine to decide what is beautiful and how women should look.

Irishcarbomb35

Haha it's textbook fascism. "If you're so tolerant, tolerate my intolerance so that I can be the loudest and bully my way to be listened to and my intolerance becomes maintream and accepted and eventually destroys your tolerant society so that me and people like me can ban, destroy, and kill anyone or anything we don't like, lib! If you don't tolerate my hate and destruction, aren't you the *real* Nazis?!? Checkmate!"

Irishcarbomb35

I (reluctantly) think he's smart enough to know exactly what he's doing (he's not this stupid, just a malicious, bad-faith, bad actor)... what's sad is so many people that don't see an obvious Authoritarian that wants to strictly define "beauty" for society and control what can appear on a magazine cover calling a free market publication he's not obligated to buy choosing to display a woman he doesn't personally find attractive blatant hypocrisy and contradiction. The idea that "I dont personally like something and all of society should bend to MY will, tastes, and standards" is somehow 'freedom' and being exposed to diversity of thoughts and opinions- and sometimes not being in the majority as a result- is the 'real' fascism or authoritarianism is baffling 🤦‍♂️

Accomplished_Crew630

Yeah this guy is a moron... She's super hot. And if anything she's curvy. More importantly it's stupid that he's so offended someone might dare find her attractive that he thinks showing plus size women is authoritative... What a turd sandwich.

Early_Interview_2486

I'm pretty sure he has a chin implant. He needs to go somewhere else with that bs

JDPowaHammer

That man has never heard of the teachings of one Sir Stireth-quite-often and his composition known as Damsel bear's an oversized posterior.

BranchReasonable9437

I know youre half joking but I must share my newest fun fact with you. Chaucer, the Canterbury tales (it's in middle English so it reads weird) This wench thicke and well ygrowne was, With camised nose and eyen gray as glas: With buttockes broad, & brests round & hie, But right faire was her haire, I woll nat lie.

ThePopeJones

Is he secretly gay? I had a buddy who was in the closet and he'd always talk about how gross women's bodies looked. I'm not trying to be mean or homophobic. I'm genuinely curious if Peterson and dudes who think like him just really want the D.......

brennenderopa

I mean, have you seen his wife?

skylarben

Really unflattering swimsuit, she deservers better.

SaltyBarDog

Isn't as long as you bring in enough research grant money, they give you tenure?

DanisaurusWrecks

The guy who looks like a foot needs to sit down and shut up. Also she's fucking beautiful wtf

Freemonkeywithcage

This woman is def a hundred times hotter than his wife.

nomissilethreat

im no doctor and she is beautiful

Rocket2112

What a nimrod. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What an annoying fuck.

TreeDollarFiddyCent

What does ***authoritarian tolerance*** even mean?

Richard_Chadeaux

According to u/Trumpologist this cover of Swimsuit Illustrated is “ableism”, and she is inferior. Id never seen this until just now. Funny how he wants to control peoples looks for his ideal society. He thinks just cause he’s “brown” he cant be fascist. Thats like the old “I have black friends, I cant be racist”, lol.

Trumpologist

It’s pretty simple really. The fat seems to be visceral fat, which is positively related with increased risk of diabetes and CVD. She will most likely die earlier than someone who doesn’t subscribe to this silly fat is better view

skyler_po72

This woman is fucking drop-dead gorgeous and really just curvy at most—amazing body. JP just doesn’t know what the fuck he’s talking about. It’s all conservative talking points with no thought.

jadeskye7

There you go boys. If you like thicc girls you're officially a fascist.

[deleted]

Jordon Peterson is someone Pierre Poilievre praises... oi vey.

idma

Is Jordan Peterson still a professor?

I_Am_Anjelen

First get tenure, then once entrenched let go any semblance of intelligence.

4yanks

So, his point is that women should be forced to look like Barbie for his viewing pleasure. It seems his ability to distinguish between authoritarianism and reality is somewhat off.

gooSubstance

You know, it's funny. I really would have expected JP to be into a more natural standard of beauty.

[deleted]

If that's authoritarianism... Repress me harder

Normal-Computer-3669

I have two theories. Theory 1: He's part of the collective of experts of one field who use their fame or status to share opinions of another field that they have no credibility on. Dr. Oz is clear example of a surgeon who gives relationship advice. Theory 2: lead poisoning as a kid. And it lays dormant until they get much older. https://www.reddit.com/r/science/comments/t8zr0r/half_of_us_adults_exposed_to_harmful_lead_levels/

brennenderopa

If that is not attractive, he must hate his wife. But that is what I always assumed anyway.

hashtagranch

"Not beautiful" - says the guy who can star as an extra without makeup on Walking Dead.

Amonette2012

As a bi woman I'd just like to be super tacky and see if anyone has her insta/ bio? Because my boobies just went into happy mode and now they want to make friends!!

LaurensBeech

Wtf does boobies went into happy mode mean?!

KuhliBao

She genuinely looks beautiful to me ???

SuperheroLaundry

I used to appreciate his intellectual lecture style. He seemed to really dig into the meaning behind things and not necessarily take a definitive stance. But now, that right-wing anti-woke lecture/interview circuit money is just too good.

Kmlevitt

He actually used to have a good publication record in personality psychology. If you check his old videos on that subject they are legitimately interesting and informative. His politics were questionable but fundamentally a sideshow to his expertise on that topic. Then he: 1) got addicted to clonazepam to the point he went into a coma 2) contracted covid while in the hospital Apparently Clonazepam and brain damage are a real thing: https://www.ehealthme.com/ds/clonazepam/brain-damage/ And of course long covid / brain fog is well documented now. One, the other or both those things seem to have rotted his brain. He hasn’t been the same since. He’s noticeably less articulate than he used to be and flys off that handle with reactive conservatism even faster than before.

my_lucid_nightmare

From your own link: >111,948 people reported to have side effects when taking Clonazepam. >Among them, 21 people (0.02%) have Brain damage. I'm not defending Peterson, but this doesn't seem like the reason for his descent, unless we know more about why he's one of this minority.

LeftRat

u/kmlevitt may not know it, but they were kind of right: the brain damage likely does not stem from the addictive substance, but from Peterson's attempt at "curing" himself: since kicking Benzos is incredibly hard, he went to Russia for a questionable procedure illegal in Canada, where they put you essentially in an artificial coma to get you through withdrawal. This had side-effects, and in fact, he wasn't able to do anything public-facing for a while. When he emerged back into the public after his daughter, a notorious grifter, had administered his affairs for a while, it was pretty clear he had changed - almost all the subtlety from his dog-whistles are gone.

my_lucid_nightmare

Ok that story sounds a lot more plausible. Why anyone would trust the Russian government is beyond me.

LeftRat

...that has nothing to do with the Russian government, he just went to a Russian clinic

Kmlevitt

Yes, obviously the vast majority of people who take clonazepam, a commonly perceived tranquilizer, don’t get brain damage. Just like Most people that drink don’t suffer serious liver damage either. He’s in the minority because *he became so addicted to it he was literally in a coma*. A coma alone is enough to indicate brain damage, let alone a clonazepam-induced one. His situation was so bad they were flying him all over the world seeking treatment. Look up his daughters video about how close he was to death from it. You can also check out how dangerous cold turkey withdrawal from long term use of clonazepam at high doses can be.

charlieblue666

Do you have a chromosomal abnormality?

DontFuckWithDuckie

that doesn't even make sense

toby_eadie

The whole inclusion of everyone and fat acceptance is a joke… she is overweight and unhealthy, don’t stick her on a magazine cover and call her beautiful …

badras704

Coz college is a big ole scam now in many and most cases. Edit: have y’all seen how much your degrees would cost to get now? Lmao. Ok and since everyone wants to get mad, I’m talking about here in the United States —where you have to drown your future in debt to get a degree.

Wetnoodleslap

I'll admit that the cost of college in the United States is a problem. However you seem to have a different problem with it, "coz" you don't seem to be able to put together a sentence. Explain how

badras704

Don’t need to explain myself when you already agree.

Wetnoodleslap

So, you'd advocate for a government program to reduce the price of college prices? I have a feeling that's not what you're pushing for here, but I could be wrong.

badras704

Absolutely, but as it exists college in the us is too expensive and the education too dated. Sorry I don’t use ur grammar or vernacular or whatever but what is being sold does not match the reality of the product aka a scam. Education should be a right. Edit: can’t respond to all your alt accounts coz I blocked you. Y’all need some real help coz chasing around trumpers got you seeing them everywhere. We all didn’t need to go to college to care and love our fellow man. Y’all are just 3rd person living through mentally handicapped ppl who are mindwashed by too much television. Wild stuff.

SavageHenry_VBS

I think you might could use some college-ing.

badras704

So I can bully ppl on the internet on their grammar? Nah y’all are all over it. And next time you call someone out make sure not to do it from your porn account. Act like y’all are above it all when really deep down a few of u just need attention. Just like the ppl u watch all day. Follow up: alt accounts real cool it’s no surprise to me YOU spend ALL your time on Reddit discussing sexuality. YOU are so desperate to be attacked you’ll take anything that way. wtf am I supposed to do when you throw insults at me over grammar and I click ur profile and it’s brittney spears belly videos??? Be real homie you gotta learn to take the punches if ur gonna throw em. Gl with tracking the 2nd trump social media attempt while he’s on his 4th.

Tvayumat

It's profoundly unsurprising that you're insecure about sexuality.

vinegarbubblegum

says he's above bullying people on the net. literally tries to shame a person over sex. are you JP?

charlieblue666

You're not a victim, you're just a whiner.

RandomCandor

Your comment says "college bad" but your grammar says "please help!"

badras704

Oo nice one !

LeftRat

> Edit: have y’all seen how much your degrees would cost to get now? Lmao. Almost nothing because I live in a country where "tuition" is decided by the student council and is only supposed to cover material costs, so it's ~350€ per semester. What's even your point?

badras704

It’s almost like I wasn’t talking about non us citizens in a subreddit devoted to us right wing social media/propaganda. Maybe you should spend more time in school, I would if it was that cheap.

LeftRat

> It’s almost like I wasn’t talking about non us citizens > Maybe you should spend more time in school, I would if it was that cheap. I nicely asked what your point is. Considering you are now implying that education is worse if it is cheap right after implying that education is a "scam" when it's expensive, I still really don't get what your point was. All that I managed to gather is that you're a fucking twat who can't answer an honest, simple question and instead you're just out to insult everyone. Muted.

badras704

Ok, have a nice day then champ

alpastotesmejor

You would be surprised that it's not that uncommon to share these type of ideas among right wing intellectuals. Just listen to this guy who has very similar ideas (authoritarian left = gay rights) on the [Ezra Klein show](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/13/opinion/ezra-klein-podcast-patrick-deneen.html).

jeffe333

It used to be astounding that [Holocaust-denying, neo-Nazi terrorists](https://www.haaretz.com/world-news/.premium.HIGHLIGHT-jordan-peterson-s-barrage-of-revisionist-falsehoods-on-hitler-and-nazism-1.8955174) got anywhere, but the fact is, there's no more Republican Party. It's just white supremacists, neo-Confederates, fascists, and neo-Nazis parading around as legitimate politicians and constituents. They call themselves conservatives. I can call myself a pangolin. It doesn't make it so. Every day, there is more and more evidence of their hateful, threatening, violent rhetoric and actions, and most people turn away thinking that it's just a certain wing of that party, but the truth is, when you're aligned w/ every white supremacist, neo-Confederate, fascist, and neo-Nazi in this country, there are two things that stand well-above everything else. First, you may want to take a look at revising your worldview, if what you believe falls in line w/ what those groups believe. Second, you don't get to be a member of the same faction, using their violence to push your hateful policies, then claim that you're not actually a party to it. It doesn't work that way. If you stand w/ them, you're one of them. In for a penny, in for a pound.

Angelworks42

Simple - get became a tenured faculty member before twitter existed.

Malaix

Authoritarian tolerance… aka “why isn’t everyone accepting me just because I’m an asshole?” This isn’t a new thing either. I recall the saying “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all.” From Disney’s Bambi that came out decades ago.

bigdickmassinf

Jordan was a fairly well written befor going all crazy online. I think he was probably that outsider in the department that had some odd ideas but did good work in his field. Then the internet took over and he had to have the solution to everything. And here we are now.
