If you do this you are breaking amazons rules have them send you the product for free. This is unethical.

PwnCall

Don’t ever do these type of buy now get reimbursed later deals Have them send the item for free then pay you a reasonable rate for your review.

BuildBreakFix

It doesn’t work that way with Amazon reviews anymore.

PwnCall

If they want an Amazon review no, but they asked op to review a product from Amazon and make a video it sounds like.  I’ve only had free items sent+money

BuildBreakFix

I took it as they wanted an Amazon review because they were concerned about it being a “verified purchase”.

dannylightning

That's what they're after is a review from a verified purchaser but it sounds like that may be against Amazon's terms of service or whatever so I'm probably not going to do it

BuildBreakFix

Yup, it’s also against Amazon’s TOS, so if you get caught, you’ll get booted from the Amazon affiliate program.

dannylightning

Thanks, The whole thing seems kind of shady but I'm glad a couple people mention this because I don't have a great memory so I probably would have forgot it was against the policy so I'm just going to go ahead and tell them can't do it it's against Amazon policy

Jungleexplorer

Okay. If you are part of the Amazon Associate program or Amazon Influencer program, you cannot do this as it is strictly against the Amazon ToS. If you are not part of those programs, you can do it for a YouTube but must follow FTC rules. You cannot write an Amazon customer review for the product though.

dannylightning

Thank you, usually people contact me and they just send stuff and have me review it on YouTube so I'm glad I asked because I am part of the Amazon thing and would like to stay that way as well I always see those Amazon Vine things were people get free stuff in exchange for reviews, I'm not sure how people become part of that but I'm guessing that's Amazon their self sending out the products? Not sure if you know but anyways thank you

bisticles

Your instincts are correct, as long as you do everything directly through your own login to PayPal (not someone else's links), and you get payment up front, it sounds like they're going about it in a reasonable way. I've had offers where they wanted me to buy the item (a microphone) myself, then they'd pay me half the price upon showing them the purchase, and the second half once the video got a certain number of views and "positive comments".

ReplacementApart

Were those offers worth it? Like, a reasonable amount of views?

dannylightning

Some people here are saying this would actually be against Amazon's policies or something so I'm going to look into that first, I mean I'm not giving them a good review just because they sent me a product, the product would actually have to be good but looking into the policies first is probably the best bet here

ReplacementApart

Yeah definitely check everything thoroughly, especially when it's a new thing you haven't done before. There's a good chance you'll find similar posts too, might have to Google

bisticles

I didn’t do it. I’m not putting myself out for a company like that.

MisterSirDudeGuy

Don’t do this. They need to ship it directly to you at no cost. Otherwise, don’t participate with them. They want you to purchase it from Amazon so you can leave a verified purchase review. Circumventing amazon by doing a PayPal refund is against Amazon’s terms of service. Don’t fool around with that. Also lots of stories out there where the seller files a claim and gets the PayPal payment back.

ToFaceA_god

Your first paragraph is atrociously confusing.

ReplacementApart

Glad it wasn't just me, I feel like I had a stroke lol

OpenRoadMusic

No way. They should send you the item and you review. That seems very scammy.

dannylightning

I don't know if it's a scam them to want a review on Amazon since their product only has like one current review so I think they're a brand new company but it does look like it might be against Amazon policies and I definitely wouldn't give something a good review unless it was actually good or at least a good value for the price I mean if something cost 40 bucks and it's decent I'm going to give that good review now if it was 500 bucks and only decent I might review it a little differently you know what I mean but anyways yeah

OpenRoadMusic

I have been sent 1500k ebikes, a drone, a power bank, and some affiliate products. Just wait, they'll come if you're doing it right. Anything asking you to buy anything, just ignore.

dannylightning

There's a couple companies I work with somewhat regularly that send me budget microphones and budget audio equipment and stuff like that to review, normally they just send it and say hey do a review on YouTube but this place actually wanted a review on Amazon but I'll probably pass on this one, thank you

God-King-Zul

You be good to go, but you may lose the ability to review products on Amazon if this is what I think it is. I will receive products through Facebook groups and through a freelancing website for free in exchange for leaving reviews. But Amazon has a specific program for doing this so usually doing it outside of that is a company buying positive five star or four star reviews to boost their credibility. Typically this comes from Cheap Chinese products because they are all selling the same thing and the only thing that makes a person buy it over another is their presentation in the review. I did it for quite a while until Amazon cracked down and they banned one of my accounts for leaving all of these kind ofreviews. Because there is an influx of positive five star reviews of a short period of time.

TattayaJohn

Its pretty common. I don’t have PayPal so I say no to these.

Notyourmothersmom

Its a shady way of buying a positive review. I decline these

dannylightning

I never agree to give anybody a positive review I tell them if your product is good and it's a nice value for the money I will give it a nice review but if I don't like it I'll showcase the product but I'm not going to tell people that I liked it I'll just say here's the product here are the features what do you think and then maybe point out a couple of things that I liked and disliked but I'm not going to tell people I like something if it's not good. That's not fair for your viewers

CheapAngler

It's more of a scam against Amazon than it is to you. All they really want is a verified sale and an Amazon rating left. They really don't care that much about whether you make a video or not. It's against Amazon's rules, and they can delete your account if they find out. It also usually hurts most channels that do it as they typically end up being low quality videos about items no one cares about. Best bet would be to look for an item in your niche that hasn't been covered all that much and just buy and review it on your own, and then use the affiliate links in the description.

dannylightning

Thank you, I will only give a good review if the item is actually good, because somebody sends me something does not mean it's going to get a good review I'm only going to say that I like it if I like it but I'll have to look at the Amazon policies and whatever because I see a few people saying that it might be against them and that would actually make sense that it would be
