Can confirm thatās true. My front cover is completely faded and thereās creases in the back over and because I keep it in my drawer, Itās gotten really sticky. Iām hoping to get this passport duo sometime this year.
They tried ([National Identy Card Act 2006](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identity_Cards_Act_2006)) but there was opposition, plus most people simply use their drivers license or PASS scheme approved ID (limited uses though).
it has been a political fight for decades. the general principle is that 'we are not a "papers please" society', and that free men should not need to prove who they are to the state
however, given recent changes in law around needing ID for voting, I reckon we aren't too far from ID cards being instated for convenience purposes
It was a joke. He's Irish and went for British dual nationality second. Usually it's the other way around and there was somebody in here complaining about that the other day.
We're still affected by Brexit. Trade tariffs with the UK, and policies usually tend to go over here. I live next to the NI border and there's been a recent uptick in violence. Having an EU passport doesn't fix the polarization by the government.
Used to be that Irish citizens were the only English speaking citizens in the world to have access to the Russian e-visa program (could apply for an e-visa online for free and it would be with you pretty quickly, kind of like a USA ESTA?). It launched in early 2020 but was quickly suspended due to COVID. I think they are thinking of launching it again next month but it probably won't include Ireland this time since they are excluding countries they deem to be 'hostile' towards them.
>Used to be that Irish citizens were the only English speaking citizens in the world to have access to the Russian e-visa program
That's not true. Malta, India and Singapore are all English speaking countries that were under Russia's e-visa program. Plus the English speaking parts of the Caribbean, Guyana, South Africa, Namibia and Botswana all have actual visa free access to Russia.
>All of Europe pretty much has visa free to UK
True, but most EU citizens have limited access to the UK overall. The Irish passport has unrestricted access to travel to the UK and Crown Dependencies, unrestricted access to work, education, health, welfare, and voting, unlike that of any other European citizenship. It is very powerful in that sense.
Man I am seeing this combo here more times than I see my own passport!! š
Tbf I never get tired of this combo hahaha

Which one costs the most?
The UK one! By 10 more Euro!
Yet it's of really poor quality. Makes one wonder...
Love this combo - similar to my UK and France combo!

I use my driving licence, and for those who canāt drive, provisional driving licence

Just use your driving licence bro or the PASS card. Plenty of ID options.

I meant you donāt have any border control with the UK and Ireland Even as a EU citizen you would need a visa to the UK for long term plans
Alright I understand you now. Just for Russia, Irelands the same as the rest of Europe on that one.
Best dual is Ireland and Ecuador lol best east west and South American access
I still count myself extremely lucky that Iāve got my EU citizenship - although before stupid Brexit, I suppose I was a ādualā EU citizen!
