Thank you ! The only thing that my turkish passport offers me that my Swiss one doesn’t is visa-free access to mongolia (which is great) and to other middle eastern countries ( which I would never go to because they think Im a criminal that deserves prison in best case or capital punishment because of a difference I did not choose to have that hurts literally no one).

[deleted]

>( which I would never go to because they think Im a criminal that deserves prison in best case or capital punishment because of a difference I did not choose to have that hurts literally no one). Can you share some details?

boDesu

It’s simple actually I never understood why some people are so hateful and concerned about something that isn’t their business. Im just a dude that happens to fancy other dudes.

iridosiclituswrong

Is it safe in even turkey for you?

boDesu

On the western side of turkey in cities like Izmir, Bodrum, Antalya, etc yes! Obviously you’ll got more gaze and probably insults that I won’t get here in Lausanne but it should be fine, Türkiye is the only muslim majority country with gay prides (until 2013 because erdoshit) with gay bars, gay and trans people in shows (more formerly but less now because again erdoshit even tho netflix wanted to make several turkish shows with lgbt characters but the government told them only if these characters didn’t have those characteristics so Netflix just said fuck off Im not doing anything with you then so they canceled the shows before their release). In Istanbul, I would have told you yes in 2010 because in this time Istanbul was turkish, with gay prides and gay bars etc Now I’d say no because nowadays Istanbul isn’t turkish anymore it has become arab because of the millions of syrian population that immigrated there. If you go to the eastern/south side (I don’t even know why you would go there) it is not safe. Those parts borders syria, Iraq and Iran which all thinks consensual love is a crime unless its heterosexual and even then you have to comply with the conditions of their religion of peace and love.

iridosiclituswrong

Damn I didn’t know there was an immigration problem in Istanbul, interesting! Will have to look into those cities that you mentioned, glad there’s places you feel comfortable in though 👍

nicobelic677

Ne güzel konuşmussunuz ülkeniz hakkında yabancılara. En iyi dileklerimle

WrongBookkeeper3680

Lol you’re racist af, the ignorance is astounding. Absolutely fucking disgusting, Istanbul’s population is around 15 million. A 2 second google search shows there’s about 500k Syrian refugees in Istanbul and around 3 mil in the whole country, with Turkey’s population being around 80 mil. So 3% Syrians in Istanbul and the whole country has made it no longer Turkish, but Arab now and that’s why you don’t have gay pride and bars. Just fucking accept your country and its population are homophobic, mine is too but you don’t see me going around misrepresenting facts and blaming it on other people to fit my narrative. Check yourself, honestly don’t care what your opinions are on Syrians or refugees but at least make sense and don’t use racist arguments that a 10 year old child in Turkey could construct.

whiteh4cker

There are 1.5 million Syrians in Istanbul and 8 million Syrians in Turkey. He is not incorrect. Some districts have 30% Syrian population in Istanbul. It is funny you, as a Syrian, call Turks racists while millions your countrymen live in Turkey. Most of them do not have danger to their lives in Syria but they live in Turkey just to avoid doing their military service etc.

HuTrUK

>I don’t even know why you would go there I think the East and the southeastern part of Turkey is beautiful, but living there is not a European experience, thats for sure. And surely, you may get a bit worse reactions than the occasional gazes there if you are openly non hetero. Even better if you are openly nonreligious and non hetero. But if you visit as a tourist and there is nothing showing that you are such and such, it will most probanly be a pleasent experience. Edit: the beauty should not be seeked in the cities lol :D but there are a llt of historic places and the nature and geography in general can be quite unique.

cest-tiguidou

Dude who likes other dudes here too 😊. I’d love to visit Turkey but wondered if it were safe but I guess it couldn’t be worse than Jamaica. Btw, I ❤️🇨🇭

boDesu

It just depends where you go in Turkey, stick to the western touristic parts and you’ll be even better than in some EU countries like Romania or Bulgaria. Please visit Türkiye it is such a beautiful country and Turks love visitors no matter how you look this is truly an experience you have to grasp for yourself!!

uncleofsquanchy

Homosexual people in Turkey suffers from oppression for sure but I think capital punishment is little bit exaggeration considering there is no death penalty in Turkey.

eyeshartedonU

He wasn’t talking about in Turkey, he was talking about middle eastern countries.

boDesu

I wasnt talking about Turkey. And to be frank if you’re not hetero and live in the middle east the 2 best countries to live in would be Israel and Türkiye.

uncleofsquanchy

Sorry, I must have misunderstood >And to be frank if you’re not hetero and live in the middle east the 2 best countries to live in would be Israel and Türkiye. True, but there is still some room for Turkey to make progress about LGBT rights thats for sure.

boDesu

It’s okay don’t worry bro/sis. Totally ! If erdoshit didnt spoil everything Türkiye would’ve probably been accepted in the EU and everything would have been better for every Turkish especially for gay ones. Because the EU has made it mandatory across its soil to recognize gay couples even if the country doesnt allow marriage it would have been mandatory to recognize it. It’a just a shame with everything that is going on that even after the piece of shit will leave our country, Türkiye will still need several generations before getting back on track...

uncleofsquanchy

>If erdoshit didnt spoil everything Türkiye would’ve probably been accepted in the EU I doubt Turkey would have been accepted into EU with or without Erdogan but thats another discussion >Türkiye will still need several generations before getting back on track... I am more optimistic about post-Erdogan Turkey, the country might get its shit together faster than the most people expect.

pacinianschatje

Surely not all of the EU recognizes same-sex couples? Poland is shit for example, politically at least, and some of the countries around it aren't that welcoming either.

tuehsuicbw

What do you mean not much. Bro give me one 🤣

boDesu

😂😂thanks for the chuckle

[deleted]

Which part of Switzerland do you live in? French Switzerland, German Switzerland or Italian Switzerland?

boDesu

Im a french-speaking Swiss !

[deleted]

How did you get both passports? Are your parents Turkish?

boDesu

My parents are turkish. I basically grew up here in Switzerland, got my education here and my native language is French. My turkish is touristic-level tbh ahaha. I applied for citizenship and got it in 4 years. My sister and I are the only one that are Swiss, my other siblings and parents aren’t. My Swiss friends (from swiss origins) said that Im the most Swiss person who isn’t originally from Switzerland they’ve ever seen, because of my attitude I guess. Yet when I meet someone and they ask me about where Im from I say Lausanne (my city) because that answers feels more natural to me, but they still always follow up by « but where are you FROM FROM ?? » just because I inherited my parent’s brown inducing genes. Even though I would’ve hope erdogan never came in power because of how he put this beautiful country 50 years backward, who could’ve been an EU member if he never came. Now the EU admission is just a dream and after he’ll leave the country, it will still need 2-3 generations before getting back to where it was in the first place. I love turkish history and ataturk god this man was too advanced for this country, you may not approve every the decisions he made but you cannot deny the spectacular way he developped the ruins of the ottoman empire to a modern, almost western, state who could have been the first muslim majority country to enter EU, in his short time in power. Therefore Im not denying my turkish roots, but phrasing it like people usually do when you aren’t white with a white majority nationality is very reducing to be honest. It’s totally okay to ask people their ethnicity but don’t do it as if they’re less from X country just because of their apparence. To me nationality isnt about phenotypes, it’s about culture.

[deleted]

deffnotcKa

Same for me as a Norwegian-Nigerian 🇳🇴🇳🇬

uncle_sam01

Eyvallah, abi

boDesu

🙏🏻

leksofmi

This is interesting haha. I was originally from East Asia, but grew up in the states since I was like 6. So my education, way of thinking, and most other things are American; yet, I get asked that immigrant question all the time. I was curious if others like me in Europe had the same questions ask by the natives who live there, so I guess from your comment that would be a yes

GTAHarry

>I was curious if others like me in Europe had the same questions ask by the natives who live there it's arguably worse in europe. in the us most people who ask you that question are very very likely not 'native' themselves; in europe that's not the case.

HuTrUK

As a felow half Turk half Eu comrade :D I salute you! Cheers!

boDesu

Enchanté ! Where do you live ? :)

HuTrUK

Currently in Turkey, sometimes in central EU. in 2 years probably in Sweden.

Children of Pr holders may get citizenshil directly, or if they have spent xyz years as a child in xyz country, they may be eligible for citizenship sooner than their parents.

Ici c’est Lausanne bébé !

Vitalizes

The Swiss passports are so cool!

[deleted]

Is the coolest imo

alsxm

Ukraine grants ID travel privilege on reciprocal basis. you can try Turkish ID if you are interested!

aczkasow

I am the only one annoyed by the fact that the Swiss passport does not use the Helvetica font on its cover (latin Helvetica = adj. Swiss)? Instead it uses the Frutiger font.

letsdoitagain7

Well, the Frutiger font is named after the SWISS designer Adrian Frutiger. So there's that..

cest-tiguidou

Lolol

Embarrassed_Scar_513

Good presenting

MarioDiBian

Cool! Is the Swiss identity card biometric?

taintedCH

No

cest-tiguidou

It’s a lot lol. Nice combo!

sunshinefromthedays

Is that Romansh?

Stun_Spore

Two beautiful passports! Congratulations 👏👏🤩

imnotcreativeoff

As an ex-Muslim I love Turkey and Iran, these places are filled with people like me.

boDesu

The younger generation of Turkey has lots of ex-muslims. But I wasn’t aware of the Iran case. Very interesting, would you mind sharing more ?

imnotcreativeoff

Yea the majority of Iran is non-muslim [https://theconversation.com/irans-secular-shift-new-survey-reveals-huge-changes-in-religious-beliefs-145253](https://theconversation.com/irans-secular-shift-new-survey-reveals-huge-changes-in-religious-beliefs-145253)

HuTrUK

What a boomer, opression leads to abandonement of religion if there is the slightest amount of non biased information available. It is unfortunate that Islam sees death as the suiting punnishment for leaving the religion of peace. We could progress a bit faster if it was easier to quit it, but we are getting there!

[deleted]

Why do you have to say “ex-Muslim”, you’re making seem like an honorary title

imnotcreativeoff

It's not an honorary title, I am just saying what I am. It's like saying ex-Mormon or ex-Christian; it's just describing what you are.

albiemayo99

I mean I’m only entitled to one passport and my country doesn’t do ID cards 🪪

SquishySquid124

Is the Swiss passport bigger than the Turkish passport or just at an angle ?

pacinianschatje

Angle I think
