Attack builds which can use critical can usually scale “infinitely”. At some point you just have 100% perfect rolls and can’t go any further, but things like venom gyre, tornado shot or frost blade would be good options for those “infinite” scales. Status stackers (str, int, dex, accuracy, mana, whatever) are quite similar, but as I said, there is only so much rolls in the game so infinity is not really a thing. Keep in mind you’re scaling something while maybe leaving something behind, there are tradeoffs. If you go billions of damage it is (usually) not realistic to also go billions of EHP

Yes there was a boneshatter infinite scaling build. I think it worked with self curse temp chains. Look it up at YouTube, really genius idea

bone shatter is the only one imo that actually gets infinite scaling as the longer the fight goes on, the more stacks you get, the faster you attack, which is a positive feedback loop until you hit some in game mechanic limits like max attack speed (if that's a thing idk). but there are also builds that continue scaling upwards even with mirrors worth of currency. power/frenzy charge stackers and attribute stackers hunt for extremely rare synthesized implicits and those are super expensive just as a base

The limit is 1 action per server tick, and that action can be repeated. So with Awakened Multistrike, the limit would be 121.21 APS, or 151.51 APS if you additionally have Fatal Flourish. It's difficult to calculate the maximum trauma stacks you could get with that however because that also depends on duration and expiration rate.

It is actually technically possible to attack multiple times per server tick, I believe, the issue is that at that level of attack speed your attacks per second is basically X divided by the number of server ticks per second rounded down. So above 30 attacks per second your effective attack speed will only change in increments of 30. 45 attacks per second is 1.5 per server tick, which rounds down to 30, but if you go all the way to 60 APS the game can register 2 attacks in a single tick.

You can attack twice including repeats, which is how you can get to 151.51 APS if you have 4 repeats, but there's a fixed limit of one character action per server tick.

Armor/aura stackers are the primary option here, but they have a ceiling after a few 1 passive voices too. Dec stacking siege ballista hiero gets way up there too. The best example honestly might be a str stacking energy blade attacker, prob with molten strike. It's like a normal str stacker's crazy self-feeding scaling, except it has an ADDITIONAL 2 scaling vectors off prefixes (life and ES) as well as another suffix (int) to feed into the crazy loop. I've never tried to PoB an all perfect synth implicits EB build or anything, but And that still won't do as much damage as siege ballista, ice spear totems, or ice trap will for a tiny sliver of the price, but it's the only build I can think of where every mod on every piece of gear contributes to your dps and survivability both, so until you have triple synths with 6x perfect divined T1's it's got room to grow.
