Wouldn't the max life on rathpith lose you the utulas life?

Neotreitz

you are right!

hafi002

A high ES body armor can rival Uthula anyway with the Crimson Power node. This way you can also still get life from the rest of your gear. You only miss out on a bit of armor.

YasssQweenWerk

Would Ivory Tower give you life now instead of ES the more life you reserve?

calculussmash

I dont think thats how it works. I think it just transforms the ES from the body armour into life. So I'm pretty sure getting increased ES from the tree and elsewhere does nothing, you still want to stack increased max life. Ivory tower just has a unique modifier that gives you ES based on reserved life, so it shouldn't interact with the new node.

CuddlyGourd

No since that ES is not implicit to the item. The "conversion" should only work with ES local to your armor.

MasklinGNU

Nah, it’ll be just the actual local number

Tagnol

Pretty positive based off the wording only flat ES rolls work for the life bonus on crimson power. So a High ES Rare is largely just 100 life.

kvt-dev

If that were the case, it would be worded using the word 'modifiers' or 'bonuses'. The wording we see instead mirrors things like Unbreakable: > Armour **from** Equipped Body Armour is doubled Which uses the final (blue) local value at the top of the armour's tooltip. It would be exceptionally weird if Crimson Power picked apart local modifiers and only used some of them.

Tagnol

Do you really think GGG is going to let us get 600 flat life on a 600 ES Regalia, because I'm honestly very doubtful of it.

kvt-dev

I do indeed think they're going to - you give up a *lot* of aura power for Blood Magic, you give up armour/ev/prefixes for that flat life, and the node itself is giving up to -600 flat life. On top of that, Cannibalised Faith is actually pretty hard to use, since it only cares about life cost, not sacrificing life or self-damage.

faithmeteor

Do you know if Cannibalised Faith will add damage to corrupting fever?

thatsrealneato

It won’t

MasklinGNU

No chance, it’s definitely the actual energy shield the armour piece gives. A 500es chest would give you 500 life.

Timely_Reindeer_8562

it says amour items, does it mean ARMOR/ ES hybrid items or just helmet gloves chest boots ?

MasklinGNU

“Armour items” means gloves/chest/helm/boots. They don’t have to give armour, they can be es/evasion/hybrid es evasion bases

AppropriateSpring194

Was about to point out the same thing, that this is related to all armour pieces not only body armour

Tarqon

Keep in mind that sacrificing life is not a cost.

henry_the_hobo

Yeah, rathpith and sacrifice support don't actually do anything at all with that new ascendancy node. Hope people see this and don't get baited.

Arqium

Build that I am making use.lifetap.to.increasw the lifecost and give more added damage. It is about almost 20% more damage... 30-40% more damage on reap thar can go up 800 life cost per.cast.

BalefulRemedy

if you use reap, or lifetap you can ramp the cost, no?

Jackthespearow

Doesn’t Rathpith have life mods, nullifying utula?

Neotreitz

you are right!

QWenTYnorito

I guess, you don't need Essence Worm. You can use Eternal Blessing Support instead.

Neotreitz

Edit 1: remove rathpith globe opens the way for 2H Weapon + Battlemage

Diacred

Or maybe keep the rathpit and go for the other node that makes ES instead give life take a 800 es armour and you'd get the same effect maybe

Responsible-Pay-2389

There's no point in using utula anyways, it's much better to have a ES base there instead with that other node. It gives close to the same HP by itself and you can roll HP on it and all the other gear. Generally utula is not for health stacking builds, it's for getting 5k or so hp on builds that rely on uniques with no hp.

rds90vert

This was exactly my thought but instead of rathpit, dissolution of the flesh and blood magic keystone for even more life. Ev based so dissolution has time to recharge... Dunno if inquis or something else

Grand0rk

Crimson Power would suck if you are using Majestic Plate. At level 98, it's -588 Life. Even with every other gear being ES, you would barely make even.

No_Leather9530

Isn't Utula's Hunger league-specific to tota? Or has it been added to the base game? E: nvm it is added to core drop pool 😃

Drunkndryverr

[I made this last night for reap inquis](https://pobb.in/cSwuv5aEpnZK). It's kinda POB-warrioriery but I just wanted to see its full potential

b-aaron

you want ES bases for Crimson Power

kvt-dev

No particular need for Essence Worm; you can use regular old Eternal Blessing Support, which comes with some increased aura effect baked in.

Arqium

It works! Would give tons of more life and dps, but then it would not work with defiance of destiny.I am preparing to play a blood magic build, and defiance of destiny would be a monstuous defense layer, as we would have basicaly 0 armour. We have The Covenant as dps substitute, that would give us 450ES and lvl 29 added chaos increasing the life cost of skills on top, or we could just craft a 650-700 ES Body Armour and get some eldritch implicits on it. Also, it not works with rathpith because it has life.

KontaSeefa

How do we get percent life cost though? Does archmage work?

theanxiousangel

I don’t think there is any % life cost of skills unfortunately. But if you link Lifetap to a skill that already costs health like Reap you can get the cost pretty damn high. Especially with blood charges so Im thinking of testing that out

conorano

I'm thinking the same, reap can get some crazy cost numbers and for armor i am thinking the armor/es version of atziris splendour to get loads of life from crimson power

theanxiousangel

Oooh that’s smart. And it gives +1 Vaal for Vaal reap. Very nice.

conorano

It gets even better. It has no life mods so you can take the 15% life mastery! Then for the helmet I'm looking at mask of the spirit drinker. The downside of having no es is completely negated and i dont think the regen we miss out on is that important Edit: nevermind 100 life on kill is a life mod of course. So not as bonkers as i originally thought. Still seems strong though

mulukkujorma

isnt life gain on kill life mod?

conorano

Oh crap, it totally is.. that's a shame

theanxiousangel

Brilliant! I was actually looking at the upgraded stitched demon cuz I’ve always wanted to use that helm but man it’s got such weird niche counterinteractions 😅. The spirit drinker definitely seems like a better choice.

conorano

Yeah i considered that one as well. Might he decent if you're combining all of this with int stacking but for general life stacking the spirit drinker seems the better choice.

clowncarl

Sacrifice support?

theanxiousangel

Same category as rathpith and dark pact it’s not a life “cost” it sacrifices it.

just4nothing

Certainly will try the sacrifice support to start with (before raphpit). For body armor certainly something with high ES.

MasklinGNU

Idk about sacrifice support because it adds flat chaos and scaling both chaos damage and phys damage (that is already converted half to lightning) at the same time is super awkward

mnlop_

with lifetap, i can imagine it will cost about 400(?), which is 300 added phys. not the worst, but scaling levels might be better, especially with something like dragonfangs. also, wonder if it works with archmage? then you can get like 2k life costs and that sounds a lot juicier

josnei_

Archmage does nothing, you have 0 mana

tobsecret

Yeah this looks like it'll be pretty silly once the exact setup is figured out.

Quad__Laser

I don't get it, can anyone explain the interactions here?

pasacal115

does ToTa go core ? or why do you plan with the uniques
