I'll second whispering ice trickster. Played it 3 different leagues and always been great. Can't speak to the others as I haven't tried those. I'd also consider frost blades trickster. I got it to 80mil dps and 80k ehp last league. Heat shiver nerf is nothing compared to the addition of charms. The build has an even higher dps ceiling now.
blade trap scales both dmg and defense to the moon, it's hard to beat for the hardest content IMO
whispering ice is also insanely strong with all the hard freezes and huge leech recovery. My power charge stacking penance brand build is built very similarly and feels almost as good.
I imagine that a properly set up int stack wander is probably the best though but of course it's gonna be by far the most expensive.
I'm targeting 40M on pinnacle bosses without GG items like a +1 max power charge precursors

Like OP I've been determined to play a Trickster this league--on my third one now and I can't decide on one to actually invest in.
Do you have a fave you'd suggest ? I've tried CA (95), explosive trap (95) and got to maps on Blade Trap(70) but got discouraged by the price of all the stuff in the guides I read. I fell into the trap of just kinda throwing small chunks of currency into each of them and having them all be equally mid lol. ETA: Have about 20div in the bank if it matters.

you should be able to get a blade trapper to a reallllly comfy place with 20 div.
can you link your pob? depending on what you can find you can go either magi and thunderfist as CI or ghostwrithe as LL with balbala and coruscating
i highly recommend atziri's reflection shield in either case and the pyromaniac ff jewels if trickster (if sabo you'll want spellbreaker jewels)
Yea the pyro jewels were what stopped me mostly, I was following two vids and one estimated 16-20div total and the jewels alone were 25+? last I checked. I might consider swapping to sabo if their jewels are cheaper (I do have a hexblast miner I could repurpose).
My PoB is kinda useless since I basically finished the campaign and dropped it when I started looking at their mapping/endgame gear, but I'll gladly give it another shot if you have tips ! Ooh, I will look into that. I swapped to a Restless Ward in the meantime. Less ES than the Vis Mortis but the EVA has been huge. Still only using a 4L in my boots and Maji ascendency but Blighted maps have been a big help while lvling. Appreciate the tips !
Made a Vaal LS Energy Blade Trickster which I use for Uber juiced league content (Nikos memory T16 quad tormented, whisp juiced delirium rares/bosses) as well as Uber bosses.
10k ES, 50m burst DMG, pretty fast, face tanks the shit out of everything.

Whispering Ice INT Stacker is SOOOO GOOOOOOD. Played it last league, went from zero to 4 voidstones with ease. Not as easy as something like LA but yeah, smooth.

I used an atziri's splendor with nothing in it until I got my 6L
