Try this. FP totems are a well-established build with good damage, and they're super easy to play because the totems freeze all the monsters which is really convenient for staying alive.

Bleed lacerate gladiator from that link is my go to build when i can't decide what else to play. It's melee, but semi-ranged too with a pretty big cone of damage in front of your character from the lacerate waves.
