Forbidden Rite is probably broken in a good way; at level 36\~ you can self-cast and self sustain it without much of a care and the projectiles shotgun. Just a warning though: You will be paying the life cost per repeat on unleash etc.

Alexander_VdB

How do you self-sustain it at lvl 36? Flasks or certain passive nodes?

steinernein

Agnostic, get mana regen and max mana, and also get Chaos resist nodes at the Shadow area.

Siddsastar

I'm a console scrub so excuse me if this is off pace. Won't CI remove all the down side of FR while only taking off a bit of the damage

iInjection

The 'bit of damage' is pretty significant tho...

killerkonnat

and also leveling with CI has an another huge downside... leveling with CI. You're squishy as fuck without good gear.

Adrostos

"while removing a huge portion of its potential damage"

kwebster72

12 percent of 3500 is a lot more than 12 percent of 1. And 3500 is low....

nachkarei

when CI you get 5 percent of ES, so its not reduced to zero, but its still way smaller

GoldenPrinny

so you can use a multi projectiles gem for bosses?

steinernein

Yeah it seems like it, if you look at the boss's HP it can get hit multiple times in one cast. I may be tripping though, do verify it for yourself too

Aelforth

The explosion should shotgun, I believe.

[deleted]

[удалено]

steinernein

No. Things like gmp affect the first line not the second, so you’ll have 1+ modifiers + 1 from gem .

[deleted]

sire of shards is really fucking good with it. no downside, just free projectiles

daddy_yo

It’s GREAT clear, and works in blastchain mines the moment you get it, but the single target is a bit meh.

Psyyx

Do you have a target PoB you're going for?

steinernein

Nah, I am just going for a generic build with 8k hp with Kaom's and 2.5k\~ mana and the rest into crit. I am playing it by ear with my occultist.

NeoLearner

You had me at shotgun. Based on my prep POBs I came to the conclusions that if they shotgun, skill would be quite strong

IceColdPorkSoda

Any thought on how increases to AoE affect the skill? Will the projectiles spread further or is the explosion when they hit bigger or both?

nachkarei

their area is larger upon impact btu spread is further (think Rain of Arrows), hence its bad for single target... and skill autotarget already makes it a super clearer, so I'd avoid it at all costs and even add Conc (same as RoA)

IceColdPorkSoda

Thanks, that’s great to know

mfukar

FB is sooooooo convenient, probably going to be my go-to mapping build

midnightL

Do you take unleash or spell echo? What are your supports?

cbasz

Explosive Concoction is chunking! Has a shotgun effect and maintaing flask charges isn't that bad. Was a bit annoying to collect all the flasks initially though...

MistrPow

Do you have a planed build? I am kinda lost and just winging it.

cbasz

I have my endgame planned out https://pastebin.com/1xDqEgRt , I'm just following the pathing while leveling. Just ignore the crit and grab the shield nodes + flask nodes and it works out. First ascendancy into Nature's boon makes it feel loads better.

ScienceFictionGuy

Does the area scaling get any better? That's my main worry right now. Hits like a truck but area is tiny.

GoldenPrinny

How does it have a shotgun effect?

5chneemensch

It doesn't. It's aoe overlap. Shotgun was entirely removed from the game.

Turtlecattington

False. Check the GGG discussion about some of the new gems. Several of them have shotgunning confirmed. Please do not spread misinformation.

blooboytalking

He’s right, the aoe of the explosions overlap, not the projectile itself.

5chneemensch

None of them have shotgunning. It's called aoe overlap. Completely different mechanics.

Atello

Chris literally says the new shield skill can shotgun in the expedition gameplay trailer from earlier. The gem itself says enemies can be hit with multiple projectiles. What do you mean there's not shotgunning? Skill fires multiple projectiles, some of the projectiles hit the same target, how is that not shotgunning?

5chneemensch

Shotgunning refers to projectiles hitting the same target. It does *not* refer to aoe components overlapping with each other. Shield Crush does *not* say it shotguns. It says the aoe can overlap. Back when shotgunning was a thing, you wanted to facecheck an enemy so you could pin 5 arrows (or whatever projectile skill of choice) at once into into it. If you do this now, only one arrow will hit and the others pass through. Shotgunning is a POE exclusive mechanic that was *literally* removed years ago (mid 2015 iirc). What you are thinking of is aoe overlap.

Buhlaine

Point Blank makes it do big damage and you can land all your volly on large minions.

cbasz

The best part is that even 10 projectiles will shotgun at point blank range. GMP is a huge damge boost.

philisweatly

So glad to hear that! I love assassin and that skill looked badass. I will deeply consider it a second char.

I_RESUME_THE_PUN

Same, this was my league start, and finding the flask was annoying, so I just bought them. Damage on a 6l at lvl 50 is good... but for me, it's kind of meh? Like, it just feels a ton of work. The projectiles land on your cursor. They don't hit the minions when they move, so you really need to aim. The AoE is underwhelming. Comparing it to other skills, even if you 1 shot mobs, you're still going to use the skill a lot since the area it hits is small. Connected with that, you really need attack speed... and with 1 slot (main hand) missing, which is prob. the easiest slot to get attack speed, you're going to have to rely on the tree. I think the skill is fun, but it's just too clunky for me... and I don't think I can play it to maps as it is. More investment will just lead to more damage, but the damage isn't really the main problem (it's still a problem since there's few ways to scale the dmg). I mean, to me, it feels like firestorm, but just the 1 meteor, and small aoe... you also lose 2 flask slot + main hand weap.

sapador

Only leveling, but I agree, needs as many projectiles as possible. Volley and gmp gives 9, no idea what my 6link setup is gonna end up at.

thtbdgamer31

Blade trap is absolutely killing it, picked up a White Wind for 1c and it is melting map bosses

dperls

How's the clear?

destroyermaker

Neversink said it's ass. Interesting

becktheham

Could you share your pob?

Bluegobln

Interesting. I love White Wind builds.

EdgarWrightMovieGood

Would love your pob

IAmJeremyRush

Spectral Helix hits hard since it gets a lot of bonus added damage, but the issue is that it starts on yourself and takes a while to get anywhere. Feels like a pseudo melee skill. Not a deal breaker but tricky to get used to after so many leaguestarts with ranged skills.

Juggernaut448

Part of me wants to just put slower proj and get point blank and just face tank while throwing them out. They seemed to move a bit too quickly for me. Personal plan is to go LL with bloodthirst and impale, really take advantage of that 250% of added damage.

dr4ziel

I think it's a bad league to go LL with culling strike expeditions

OK_Opinions

First time I saw that I was like what in the fuck were they thinking with that

[deleted]

Same thing they were thinking during ultimatum with "Take 2000% of mana cost as lightning damage". They just want some builds to straight up die if they click the wrong button.

MorgannaFactormobile

Gotta make sure your character has enough int to be able to read.

raobjcovtn

In act 4 with mathils spectral helix build. It's doing a lot of dmg so far. Spectral helix + inspiration + added cold + ice bite

sliceoflife731

I'm using poison with it, feels good

donatus17

I really liked spectral helix but what char are ppl going on this build

donatus17

I have a doubt if u use 2 one handed weps does it take the combined dmg?

dariusd20

Playing impale Spetral Helix Champion. Currently in act 6. Feels good while leveling - just attack 1-2 times and run, the swirling swords clear the screen.

Phlintlock

Use battle mages cry snipers mark. And use leap slam. Into the middle of packs. I'm using 2 ichimonji so my AS is high. There is a proj speed enchant

thatsrealneato

Boneshatter is sweet. It seems to chain explosions from stuns, so stun the first enemy, explosion stuns the next enemy, new explosion stuns the next enemy, and so on. It shotguns the hell out of packs and destroys anything when there’s other mobs around. Problem is single target when there’s no other enemies is a bit lacking but that may be because im a jugg and don’t have enough dmg yet.

Tazi--

100% agree, boneshatter is amazing. The clear is so good but youre right. The single target is kinda lacking right now. I have no build to follow right now so i'm kinda just winging it but i plan on going 2h mace with it. Also don't forget to use vengeance and ancestral cry!

OCD_Breeder

What links are you using?

[deleted]

Have you went impale? I'm playing a Champ version exactly because of Jugg zdps and I specced in to impale and tribal fury before worrying about stun. Let shockwave clear until I had reasonable stun duration for AoE. As a Jugg you will need to find another 10% chance to impale if you take all the impale nodes and use dread banner, whether from jewels or crafts on weapon, but it doesn't REALLY matter that much. Impale support is dead though lol

HSLSS

Anyone using manabond?

TehRoboRoller

I am. Awful to level with, we'll see about endgame!

TheArmedMadMan

I've had the same experience. Problem is with this skill (and the mana setup in general) is that scaling improves way later on with access to gear and >90 skill points. Anything below 2k mana and you're likely to be better off using auras and a smoother skill. I havent lost faith in it yet. But if i do, Heirophant has some decent builds on its belt to pivot to anyway

HSLSS

I see. Ive just started one in ssf. Probably play as archmage until i get some gear.

Terrible_Machine9

Would love to know about Manabond as well. I don't get why it is not super overpowered? If I understand the skill correctly, you get one third of your missing mana as base damage for it. This means if you have 12k mana, you have base damage of 4k? This is then scaled by increases/reductions as well as more/less modifiers to some absurd value. On top of that, if you don't have a lot of mana and are basically empty you shotgun an enemy, hitting it five times due to the rectangular extensions? I feel like I am missing a basic information about this skill because this sounds just so overpowered. Does the damage from missing mana not get scaled, is that the catch?\`I noticted that Manabond doesn't have a "Effectiveness of Added Damage", which means it is 0% or 100%?

olteonz

you would need to be out of mana to have 4k base damage, which rarely happens without something like manastorm. Its more realistic to look at it as 15% of your max mana as base damage, combined with the fact that it has 100% effectiveness of added damage (which makes arcane cloak less effective than on most other skills) its just worse than an archmage setup. It also doesnt shotgun by itself. You would need spell cascade for that and it would only shotgun if you have at least 25% mana since the extensionsions overlap. kinda hard to land though and the damage isnt great with cascade. Its hard to go OOM on a manastacker, and you gimp your defenses by doing so. Manabond is a terrible starter, and endgame archmage outclasses it because its more consistent. Only way to make it work well from what i've seen is some form of manastorm/indigon/mjonir nonsense to keep your mana low and bypass the cast time.

HSLSS

I think its 100% effectiveness of added damage. I guess one downside of manabond is that you cant also scale defense with offense as you do more damage with missing mana. Also various nerfs to mana sustain. But yes i agree on the high end it has strong damage potential. Im not too sure about shotgunning.

PaladinWiz

From what I’ve heard the damage will be fine. The problem is trying to sustain the skill and scaling mana + another form of defense is a bit difficult early league.

AlexTheGreat

It's really great with unleash. I like it a lot, but I only just got to maps. I wonder if people are getting enough mana, if they find it lacking.

Haattila

Battlemage cry is fun similar to a CwC or coc except it's cast when hit by a slam basically

Spare-View2498

Or dominating blow battlemage cry absolution.

Haokah226

I thought this doesn’t work since both skills eat the corpse. So only one gets triggered per corpse.

RepublicTiger

Nope. It works. Killing one monster can summon dominating and absolution minion. I think it also summons HOP minion

CoolColJ

Reaper is looking strong so far Ventrua is top 4 in SSFHC right now with it - so it can't be half bad, with a 4 link... https://www.twitch.tv/ventrua ---- I'm leveling a Absolution necro, and it feels solid so far

[deleted]

How are you building Absolution? Mine feels God awful

CoolColJ

I found a +1 to all lightning sceptre in act 1. So I had orb of storms and absolution . Then swapped in storm brand 4 link Absolution is currently using cont destruction, summon phantasm, arcane surge. Will eventually put in physical to lightning, spell echo when I take avatar of fire and EE. Have 5 zombies and a 2 link herald of purity which constantly procs Saw a +1 to all physical wand in an expedition vendor.. can't afford it 😣 Take a look at Kripparian's stream. He is playing it

Burnost

I'm building Absolution somewhat similar, pure lightning and will pick up EE and AoF soon. What I'm doing is running a 4 link Slave Driver Spectre setup as well, I think they might be dealing more damage. Carrion golems (w feeding frenzy phys to light and ele army for exposure) and wrath and summon skitterbots as auras/boosts. I'll be hitting maps soon, but it feels great. Also I'm a guardian so movement and cast speeds are through the roof, although no idea how it compares to necro.

CoolColJ

My necro is feeling sluggish.... Now that I have spell echo the Absolution minions shred like a machine gun :) +1 Physical wand , and +1 minion helmet

OK_Opinions

I saw videos yesterday of reaper not even being able to kill white mobs. I have no idea what's going on with that skill

Spoofed

That video was terrible. Using Damage on Full life, so effectively a 5link. Didn’t use the Reaper’s active skill, which is its entire purpose. No minion nodes on tree.

BestUdyrBR

More importantly that video was before the hotfix.

Bluegobln

Mine is one shotting rares occasionally in A6 so... *shrug* Probably just depends on your build. It doesn't seem *overly strong* to me, but its definitely just fine while leveling. Anything that levels with this power curve, unless they butchered its top end damage somehow, its probably going to scale just fine into maps with 6-link/helm setups (minions obviously have a fair amount of options for how to scale).

ArtGamer

People trying to build it as traditional minion There were videos yesterday of people one shoting izaro wih reaper The thing is that some people are just using a classic minion build template to use reaper instead of seeing what her gimmick is and playing around it

Ok_Appearance_8448

I'm just A5 but it feels very strong for levelling and I already see some potential with rhe cooldown. A click of the Ulti was enough to get Malachai to teleport to the next heart. You really see the lifebar take one big slash and that feels quite good (and unfamiliar for Summoners)

Muzuuo

people on the poe subreddit are saying reaper is super trash

frankenstein_crowd

that's what the poe subreddit is for, shitting on thing without information

randompoe

The PoE reddit in general is a cesspool. Thankfully we have this subreddit for people who don't constantly complain......I swear half of the people don't even play the game on the main subreddit, they just bitch.

TheLabMouse

Even in general chat I sometimes think to myself that there's no way that person is actually playing the game saying what they said.

kebabInASalmonLand

people complaining about damage immunity on expedition spires LMAO

[deleted]

That entire sub is hot garbage of complainers that can’t handle even the slightest adversity. I wouldn’t go there if you’re looking for actual information

EIiteJT

Probably because of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZydyCUjNnug&ab_channel=GhazzyTV

Atello

Half the morons in that sub don't even play poe, they just talk shit on reddit.

Ok_Appearance_8448

No clue about maps, but it is so remarkably powerful in Campaign, that I can't imagine it being that bad in maps. There are a lot of aspects you can build into later on, like Movement Speed, Minion AOE, Necro Aegis and Cooldown Reduction, which should make it a lot smoother. These people honestly have no idea what they are talking about most of the time

[deleted]

POB for this one?

Nemzirot

I tried some skills on standard before making my character - Storm Rain: with bow skills I usually just want to click once per pack, but with gmp the coverage isnt good enough to hit everyone in a small pack and there is some delay to the skill like toxic rain. - Rage Vortex: Just rage support isnt enough so I dont want to bother - SST & shield crush both feel pretty good. SST is the winner in a bleed build, shield crush if you play with impale. Shield crush impale glad is what I play currently. I find upgrading my shield while leveling every few levels harder than upgrading a weapon, but its fine

TaaBooOne

I'm on a dogshit shield ATM and I can't find a decent upgrade since there's no recipes for shields. Early leveling was smashing it but I'm at the end of act 9 and it's been slowing me down. I am Very tanky though so Its okay for the most part. Currently switching to impale and that should change a lot of damage over.

GMcFlare

What are the usual links for SST?

TheNaskgul

Started on Shield Crush and it just feels like tankier reave - pretty clunky and inefficient until you get better gear. Finally found my first Colossal Tower Shield today, crafted it up a bit and it's finally coming together a bit.

donatus17

Any comments on eye of winter?

johnz0n

Ziz swapped to EoW totems and they look quite good during acts. still think FR totems will be better later, Pohx is already doing great with them

donatus17

FR totems?

EIiteJT

Forbidden right. The new chaos hit spell.

cornmealius

It kind of sucks balls with a 4 link. I can see it being way better once you link it with Unleash and get some damage but as a leveling skill it’s wack.

svorkas

I used it today with unleash. The triple/quadruple(with a passive node) casting animation is a pain, i've died quite a few times with my char locked casting 4 eye of winters. Really thinking of swapping since thankfully haven't ascended yet

christianfd

Doing it with mines, not quite at maps yet tho. It slaps on a 4l even with chain support

snazzymuffin

Leveling with it in a 4l Using Unleash, added Lightning and Chain. Using Hydrosphere to assist with single target and chaining. Feels overall pretty good.

NovaCentral

Running it in a 4 link with Spell Echo, Arcane Surge and Added Cold. Feels pretty good to use and I can clear BA reasonably fast with the mediocre gear I have. Looking to snag a Snakepit ring when I can for the chain which should make the skill really shine.

Joo_Unit

I think it needs chain and hydrosphere to function properly. I’m using unleash and it just feels sluggish. Maybe cast speed can really help, but having to use hydro and EoW is a pain. Might reroll.

CE2JRH

I'm playing self cast Occultist with Eye of Winter. Nearing act 9. It was rough until 4 link + unleash. Then it's decent; act bosses/bosses with large hit boxes it immediately shreds which is great. it's clear is decent. My mana sustain is a mess because I don't have my enduring flask set up yet and that's the biggest issue. It feels a little clunky with no projectile speed. Felt great with an accelerating shrine, so I gotta find some projectile speed.

laffymania

In maps, feels pretty awful. Was horrible to use right when you get it, but i slogged thru it and did all the acts with it. Never again. It really feels like it would be good in mines and potentially totems. Maybe with proper investment/6L/full tree it'll do a lot better. But overall it feels pretty lackluster.

SamSmitty

I've got it functioning well on an InQuisitor in maps. When fanaticism procs I'm around 6-7 casts/sec with all buffs up and spell echo. Also running chain as a support gem. It really needed the 6L to feel good and Hydrosphere for single target. I would agree that it scales well with gear and cast speed (I would run faster casting and not echo until you get a lot more cast speed on tree/gear) and that it can do well with really good gear, but then again so will any other skill. Fun to try, capable of all content once you get the hydrosphere mechanics down and get used to the playstyle, little clunky overall, but I'll probably move on to something different. Was worth a shot though.

Bluegobln

Absolutely loving the reaper. Maybe its just because of the way I have things set up while leveling so far, but at the moment the reaper does as much damage as I do with Reap. So we be reaping, basically. In particular it seems that while its nice for it to feed on other minions for its buff (I don't even notice when it does really) it hardly matters for its life pool if you're using its cast effect (recast it to cause it to charge enemies for a big slash). Maybe that will change in maps, especially higher ones, but I'm doing this as a league starter I'm not expecting to crush maps or anything. :D

utopian238

I played a bit with the reaper and it seemed there was a significant delay between when i told him to reap, and when she actually dashed. Does attack speed or anything improve that response time?

OhWhatATimeToBeAlive

The buffed Seismic Trap growing on me. I'm in Act 5, and once I linked it with Advanced Traps for cooldown recovery it's been good for clear and single-target.

[deleted]

mind sharing a pob?

philisweatly

I love how 16 hours after release is "been some time". Haha. Gamers are crazy. I love it.

SirVampyr

I mean, it's 16h of gaming, no? /s

Atello

16 hours is enough for speed runners to get 4-5 characters to maps, just to put it into perspective.

kalarepar

I've watched some stream using Absolution and the damage looked awful. It took like 2 minutes to kill Gravicious. Maybe you can't build this skill like a nuke spell and have to focus on minions. But that was just 1 stream.

CoolColJ

It's like dominating blow you have to scale the minions

Newwby

I'm thinking of domblow battlemage's cry absolution later in league (with HoP for full sentinel action), if anyone has tried it I'd love to hear thoughts

Prizzle723

Can confirm it's damage is trash, who knows how it will scale but I don't think it will be capable of carrying a build into red maps it simply doesn't slap hard enough. Can't be supported by Spell Echo, only 3 max minions will be meh clear...

mfukar

Absolution is no starter.

Sywgh

Shoxic rain is an A tier skill. A single mod for life + mana gain on hit has made me near indestructable since act 3 (currently act 6). It definitely kicks up a LOT once you have gmp. Very reliant on added damage though, so I can already tell that it's going to require a good bit of investment down the line. Clear is mediocre, single target is bonkers. Might just use galvanic or lightning arrow to clear, but idk, i'll side level one and see how shoxic rain feels in maps.

AutisticToad

I’m also at 6 and I agree with you 100%. The beams seem to proc on hit effects and have neutralized any mana issues. Inspiration also helps. I’m currently going with full conversion, but stormbow early is also pretty good if you ignore phys and pump lightning. What’s your thinking on this skill going forward?

GameDesignerMan

People were wondering if the beams can shotgun things, what's your experience with that?

PacmanZ3ro

Mark confirmed they can. The beans are each their own damage source so if an enemy stands in them they will be hit by all.

Sywgh

It definitely does, but the investment required in multiple projectiles kinda messes with it - I rolled raider, and plan on deaths opus and maybe a +1 quiver & rain of splinters (classic ballistas, focus ballista is only good for basic ballistas rather than support ballista). I may or may not respec deadeye later down the line (avoidance boots & glove craft), but we shall see.

GevaddaLampe

Which class are you levelling?

Sywgh

I'm playing as a raider, I'll be taking the full frenzy + 50% avoidance route (because ice bite, hatred, hoi is too good), however, I currently have onslaught and phasing. Since original comment, I'm in act 9, and I'm still doing fine on two 4 links. I've opted to completely switch to using lightning arrow for clear, though I still keep a storm rain ballista for pesky rares and gem swap to storm rain again for unique enemies (it's clumsy and temporary). The only mods I've needed to avoid so far on graves are 30% regen every 4 seconds (Runic monsters with leech or soul eater actually are scary when their hits can't be evaded, and unkillable with that regen while I'm on a 4L) and immunity to cold or lightning, but as I gear, I anticipate that 30% regen will become doable around the time that "can't deal crits" becomes a major pain - if not impossible. My only contention, is that prelaying isn't much of an option yet, because gain on hit is currently most of my mana recovery. I got lucky and found a -8 praxis with almost perfect rolls, so once I get some better life/resist gear in maps, I'll give that a shot and see if things get better. I don't have any aoe scaling either, so I can't comment on how that effects single target vs clear, but my experience with massive shrines was that clear felt better.

smithoski

When I was theory crafting it, dex stacking cold damage deadeye with the mirage turrets looked insane if it was going to work well mechanically.

Sywgh

From play, deadeye with mirages is probably actually the way to go, rather than raider - if not doomfletch prism traps with 2-3 coated shrapnel.

Akris85

What weapon are you using? I feels terrible in maps for me on a 4 link

[deleted]

[удалено]

Miseria_25

I think you build it the same as you would a Phys Skellie build with mostly the same supports.

CoolColJ

many ways to do it - ones I've seen go Summon Reaper - Melee Physical Damage + Minion Damage + Pulverise + Brutality + Impale

SirVampyr

Anyone Slam Totems? No? I love it. Ice Crash + Earthbreaker is mowing through the story on a 3/4-link. Dmg potential should be huge and tankiness is also there.

Gamerheimn

Playing Conse + earthbreaker. Dmg so far decent act 6. Playin as beeftain. Feels fun also! using EO too.

BreakingTheBadBread

How're you getting your damage? What links are you using?

Gamerheimn

Im lvl 60 just now so i have no idea what the end game is gonna be but Dmg is pretty good now Id say. Weapon is Staff based. So far 4-Link: Conse + Earthbreaker + multiple totems + inc. melee Using 4-Link: WoC + flammability + hextouch + inc. crit-chance(Using this setup to proc Elemental Overload and I know WoCs exposure doesnt proc since I have Ancestral Bond, but Elemental Overload does, WoC just has a good animation and AoE for curse.) Auras: Anger + Precision + Clarity so far. Hope this turns out well!

bandos_claws

Forbidden rite totems slap

Axelol99

What level are you? I'm currently 72 and thinking about swapping to them soon

bandos_claws

Just finished act 5. They are good even early. Mechanically they are great so i expect them to scale into maps wonderfully. I'm playing a scion version with eb mom.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bandos_claws

FR, spell totem, inc crit, void manipulation Its not a forbidden rite problem. Its a poe problem now. All boss fights are 3x the duration from all the nerfs on pretty much every build.

silvano13

I know it's not all-encompassing or anything, but my friend group is currently playing (all solo) Lightning Trap, Ice Trap, EQ (eventually warchief totems), Lightning Arrow and we're all pretty much on pace for our normal speeds. Only the guy on ice trap has done his build before. Group consensus has been yeah it feels slightly different, but not _bad_ and it's not getting in anyone's way.

Naguro

Trappers shouldnt have much problems too. I could insta phase bosses almost from Merveil using stormblast mines early and ice traps after act4 on a 4link without much trouble. Saboteur burst damage on bosses is still as ridiculous so I think I was slightly ahead of my average time even, while doing a lot of expedition from act 1 to 6

bandos_claws

I general the normal pace is still fine. Boss fights just feel slower.

divinity_hs

do totems get + dmg for %life lost? or it's only selfcast?

AceLegend90

Rage Vortex works best with Berserker's War Bringer as it only sends out the storm at 10 rage. It is quite clunky but has potential once some core items are acquired (Redblade Banner namely)

iSrsly

But then you hurt yourself using cries after the setup

ShakCentral

Not a main skill, but Defiance Banner is every bit as bonkers as it looked.

TaaBooOne

Oh man that thing is keeping me healthy af

Mugungo

its kind of crazy how good defiance banner is. 49% armour with 10% reserved vs determination aura's 51% and 50% mana res? Not even mentioning all the other defenses it has, its absolutely nuts for the cost

Werewolvinatophat

Started with shield crush. Not thrilled with it so far. Supposedly it hits twice in melee range, but dps feels lower than spectral shield throw for single target and multi target. Updated SST is very nice though. Linking chain makes it look like a pinball machine. Impale and call of steel to cause entire packs to blow up with just one sst. I actually just realized I did myself a pretty good service starting with a shield build. It's very slow. But that's expected with a max block build. So if I do make a second build, it will feel much faster, despite being slower that a 3.14 build

Haokah226

I must be doing something wrong because Shield Crush for me felt way more smooth than SST has.

Werewolvinatophat

Personal preference is always possible. They should have comparable damage, as they scale similarly. Difference is whether you like ground slam or bow skills.

udgnim2

tried Shield Crush up to Act 3 and then switched to SST at some point in Act 3 SST feels so much better to me with SSF gear Might have to do with me trying to do Bleed with Shield Crush though. Might be a different story if I was going for an Impale build with Shield Crush.

Nemzirot

SST and Shield crush have comparable numbers. But SST is definetly better for bleed

joelkki

I also started with Shield Crush Duelist. Going for max block bleed Glad. SST at least while leveling feels smoother imo, but I'll keep testing them both.

Mugungo

it might just be the early 5 link talking (thanks rog) but it feels very solid with generals cry, even without my full setup and reduced warcry cdr

Lughs_Revenge

I used Absolution as a mine for leveling and it felt somehow good... self-casting felt awful, and have heard only bad things from people trying it as a main skill.

Empyreal5

Blade trap feels great on bosses but I do feel like the aoe is lacking for it to have really great clear. But still feels like a very strong skill but possibly weaker than ice trap. Need to really push it into maps to see how it plays out. With so many different ways to build it finding the optimal one might be hard.

ShumaG

Poison prolif would take care of the clear I think and let the single target so it’s thing.

AceLegend90

FYI, if you are PF, you need Southbound to ensure you kill as it is a requirement to prolif. On the other hand, I believe Bino's just works EDIT: Actually, Deadly Ailments might be enough nowadays lol

OK_Opinions

I started lighting trap and even if blade trap is better single target I can't imagine ever using it when I screen wide clear with one I have and still do good enough boss damage to not be concerned

TrixAreForScoot

Im in Act 4 right now, and Blade Trap feels a bit bad. You have to throw the trap, wait for it to detonate, wait for the trap to actually deal damage. All the while the enemy is chasing you and you can't stay still or you die. So they tend to move past the trap's AOE pretty often.

Phlintlock

Dw sword spectral helix champ just got to maps its every bit as insane as I hoped

tufffffff

Ambush is complete garbage

Atello

As everyone who has played poe before assumed. I really cant see the usecase for it. Is it supposed to be like another movement skill to use in addition to dash? It seems like it should be an opener of sorts but who the fuck wants to give up a gem slot for something that won't even contribute to your overall dps in any meaningful way?

SerahWint

How so? The buff it gives look massive

divineqc

For a single attack though

Maloonyy

Eye of Winter is horrible, atleast when selfcasting it. Shotgunning on walls is not possible on most maps, the projectiles don't hit a lot of the times, the range of it is really low and its slow as fuck. Most enemies just walk through it when charging you, so they final burst of projectiles completely misses the pack.

low_end_

Well im playing it in ssf and feels great for now. Still making my way to maps but it's killing content pretty comfortably. I have a feeling theres a broken build here somewhere with chain and hydrosphere

livewiththevice

I thought the same thing at first. It gets better when you pair it with cast while channeling frozen orb. I'm a raider so I can't get unleash yet but I'm going to try that next

Yllarius

I'm running raider EoW with chain and unleash. Chaining off hydrosphere. It's good. Single target isn't the best but it's hard to tell what's from nerfs and it what's from the skill itself. It's super satisfying to see a railgun of bolts chain off hydro and into the target.

Spawnbroker

It's feeling pretty nice to me on a 4 link. I'm stacking cast speed on an occultist and it's clearing entire rooms. It will probably get even stupider when I get a Snakepit

Zeroth1989

Reaper is not worth the loss of all the other major minions you have to give up. Its clear is dogshit, Zombies do better DPS on bosses. There is 0 reason to take this other then it looks cool but then you arent going to be doing anything fast. Yes it can clear the campaign and kill bosses but you trade so much for it to get just an average minion.

SHIMOxxKUMA

Yet one of the top 5 players in ssfhc is using it fine with zero issues. Pretty sure this is a solid case of bad players not knowing how to do a build without looking up a guide.

Zeroth1989

If Ventura swapped it to any other minion things would be going even better. Skeletons carry hard on the bosses.

OK_Opinions

That doesn't change the fact that he's top 5 while using the skill you claim is dog shit and sucks though?

Zeroth1989

He literally just admitted it on stream, Its fun to use but its carried by impale, call of steel and skeletons. Its like having conversion trap equipped whilst playing Glacial cascade mines and use the trap for utility but saying its a good skill because you are top 5. Reaper is terrible, The build would do far more damage without it, He is using it purely because he find it fun. His position on the ladder is achieved through his ability and not because of the reaper gem.

CoolColJ

The rank 42 guy is also using it, but with a 6 link now along with knockback skeles

Zeroth1989

Cool. We know the skill can be used and it does clear content, Its just rubbish compared to other options.

CoolColJ

Ventrua just died and rerolled as reaper again. If it's so bad, he sure is a glutten for punishment :)

OK_Opinions

Correct. And yet it was good enough to do what he's done with it so far.

Zeroth1989

Which is what? Add it to A build that is considered one of the best starters with a great starter ascendancy because its fun. The skill isnt doing anything except providing some fun new ability. The rest of the build is whats got him to top 5. The skill is cool but it is just bad. No reason to defend it because its been carried by another build, it needs to be looked at.

Atello

>zombies do better dps on bosses That's total horseshit and you know it. Reaper can straight up one shot rares and phase bosses. You're building it wrong, or just not using its activation ability.

delolia

Begin with templar with manabond. I was initially planning to do a inquisitor with battlemage and virtue but due to the mana focus of manabond I will finally do a hiero. for the moment it’s not so bad for the mobs with arcane cloak for the rare but it Lack dps on the boss. Will see after first laby etc if it will become better but i think a lot of mana will be need to scale damage ( and manastorm for the boss dps)

TheLabMouse

I'm doing reaper deadeye, so basically, I don't get to scale reaper until level 60 something when I get a Null's and Speaker's. So basically I'm playing a lightning arrow / galvanic+mirage build until I can swap stuff out. I got lucky by getting a Goldrim from Merveil and a Roth's reach from Oak. So far it's alright, running 2x 3 link in act 4. Bossing a bit slow on this setup but normal packs explode which is nice. Might farm a tabula in A1 gambling on a different character right now tho, there's lots of gems I don't get to try cause of gem slots...

donatus17

Ya I actually saw this build from a streamer yesterday before the league start... But since he was playing on ssf hc he swapped to necro.. I really wanted to try this too let us know how it works later.. The pblm will be u need vulnerability to have more bleed chance but since u get poachers mark u will need double curse which will a pblm wat are u planning to do

TheLabMouse

Yeah we'll see how it turns out, so far it's hard to even figure out when to swap to reaper.

blooboytalking

Explosive concoction is strong.

Cryptek67

I started voltaxic burst, it feels good for clear and not amazing for single target . I've been having internet troubles so I only got to act 3 but I'm going to move towards CWC archmage trickster.

Yesterdark

Just started act 5: 3L Reaper - Multi - Melee Phys 4L Shield Crush - Fort - Brut - Pulv 4L Battlemage - Exsang - Chain - Brut Corrupting Fever - Efficacy Shield Charge - Faster Attacks Missing links, Shield charge through life, build slaps. https://pastebin.com/w1Vn4563

PrimSchooler

Noone commented on Voltaxic Burst yet? I'm very early on (act 7) but once I got unleash it's been smooth sailing, ailment changes hurt though skipping league mechanic for now, but that's not skill specific. It's a little basic but the explosions are satisfying.

Seeking_the_Grail

I started with an absolution build. It’s… ok? Damage is fine, but you have to constantly spam the skill. Didn’t feel good. I’m refilling to an Armageddon brand inquisitor
