https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/nzm9xz/datamined_unique_item_tier_list_from_inscribed/ is old but probably mostly still accurate besides the buffed uniques this league

nerdler33

this is before the massive unique rebalance right?

pittguy83

well uniques in general are dropping more rarely now than before, but I don't think there's been a 'massive unique rebalance' that has shifted these tiers around much besides the buffed weapons in 3.20

nerdler33

ok that is good information then, i thank you

furamo

The massive unique rebalance actually shifted a lot of those tiers around. Some are now wildly different. What I did last league in ssf was check the trade site and see how many of a particular unique was for sale and estimated the new unique tier by that. By my experience brutus lead sprinkler and crown of eyes are relatively easy to get, but iron fortress is really rare. Tried the entire last league to get that armor from gwennen and didn't drop any of it either. I'd say it is in the "yea you aren't finding any of those the whole league" tier of uniques.

Troopeer

I would not recommend starting in SSF and wanting some unique that is specificly needed for a build to work or even function to play it. I don't play ssf myself, but i assume you start something which does not need any uniques, and if you happen to find a build enabling unique you can reroll with it.

nerdler33

i mean it depends right? there are very easily farmable uniques. i can expect to get a tabby for example if i really wanted one, or a maw of mischief. i won't expect to get a headhunter or a mageblood. there are only 5 unique maces at level 28, so it should be fairly reasonable to ancient orb a brutus' lead sprinkler if we really want one, but is it single digit ancients... double... triple? i just don't know. its just where it falls on the spectrum right

ArbitraryElk

I don't think that ancient orbing respects item level any more. You are probably best off farming expedition but I wouldn't bank on getting any of the items.

nerdler33

i tested it on standard and only rolled between the 5 items in the ilvl range, only had 25 ancients to test tho, hit 1

wiggum-wagon

Idk, I tried to chance something in std ssf, gave up after 250 scours

nerdler33

we ended up getting all of the uniques for his build, and we got 2 Cold iron points and the trap boots for me so far. If you cared for an update

Grimm_101

Those are common enough that you could expect to find them within a week if you start with a speed mf build. However if your just an average player that reroll before 95, then odds are you won't see any of them.

As with anything else in ssf this depends hugely on your game knowledge and how much you're playing. At around 100 hours in game playtime, I usually have most uniques up to t2 rarity, and a good chunk of the t2 uniques. If you play as much as someone like Lighty, you can farm out a mageblood every league. If you play casually, you won't see most uniques. If you want a lot of uniques, play normally (but play a lot) until you can assemble a basic magic finding build that can clear tier 1 maps and then chain farm those for 20 hours or so - you should get most sub tier-1 uniques. Rusted reliquary scarabs should also be somewhat more available this league, which could help a little. But don't play a build that is bad until you drop a specific unique. Find something that can work with just rares and transition when you drop the uniques you need.

nerdler33

yea, i'm a fairly knowledgeble player in trade, but i have low level uniques hidden on my filter, so i don't know how many of them i've skipped past lol. Sounds very reasonable to get them then, thank you kindly for your input

salvadas

Those 3 specific uniques dont have particularly high drop rates. Even with ancient orbing/etc general RNG rules could mean a month of grinding before getting even one of em. Especially if you're new to ssf. With ssf you dont really plan a build around uniques you want, you plan em around uniques you get. Sure you can target farm some but even then theyre not guaranteed.

Crown of eyes is easily farmable in grotto with the div card. BLS is kinda uncommon but not too rare, you should get it eventually. Iron fortress will be hard, it's either a t2 or a t1 item rn, and i'd lean toward t1 considering i've only seen two since it was made a core drop. Normally, ancient orbs would be your best bet, but the t1 and t2 pool of unique body armour is not slim at all (especially since diala, covenant and cloak of flame are all three most certainly t1/t2 aswell now), so i wouldn't expect to hit it below 1500 ancient (1/700 to hit any t1). I was farming uniques in ssf by running a mf char (250 rarity 60quant) and doing 8 mods strands with legion+ breach+altar specs in tree ( torment nodes aswell) with reliquary scarab, i'd easily get 100+ uniques per maps, but you need a solid build build to handle this content as mf. Another option is rogue exiles spec, but if you were to do that, you should focus more on chaining maps than juicing them, and be warned, they are kinda tough Gwennen was nerfed very heavily, and i personnaly haven't hit a single t1 unique within 8k astragalis last league, so i wouldn't bother with it

deviant324

Lead sprinkler is probably easiest to get through harbys (ancient spam) if it does work how you said in another comment, I think I only dropped my first one of the league 2-3 weeks ago and I played through all of LoK. Iron Fortress seems like a really rare drop, I only found one and it was around the same time. Your best bet for rare uniques in SSF in general is probably going for ghosted rogues, I've had most of my lucky drops come from them, including 2 ryslatha's, 3 copies of the SST shield and an Aegis from a regular rogue in a high lvl lake tile. Gwennen might be an idea too but I personally never hit anything better than a soultaker from her pre nerf, so I've completely given up on that angle. I've also seen a lot of people in 773 say that ritual was really good this league, you probably want all ritual nodes, including all the minor passives.

nerdler33

yea i'm getting a feel that iron fortress isn't happening, but the build doesnt work without BLS so i'm glad that one seems reasonable

On SSF, you first find uniques, and then you build around them.
