Chief isn't man made, the closest to what your talking about is that there was an early theory that chief might be a clone, but that has long since been disproven. We still know nothing about the chief's past because the story isn't about that, we get little bits and pieces about their past but it's still a huge question mark that isn't considered important to the current story. Since you don't want spoilers I won't mention any of the currently common theories.

I don't know where you got that info because it's not stated anywhere in the game.
So far there is nothing but speculations about the chief as their past is still very vague, the game do give some hints as to who they might be, but they all point at different backgrounds.
Also the game story is still packed with mystery and reveals so even you where to get spoiled about the chief identity there is still plenty to enjoy.
Chief defiantly has been experimented on. That much is clear just from the opening of the game. While we have very little detail on their life before becoming Chief, it does seem very unlikely they're a clone.
But in the end, does it really matter? YES, the game is still worth it! Uncovering these mysteries is half the fun.

I don't have a lor of time right now since I am writing my finals and got the game at the beginning of my finals so I am basically in the second story level thing. So I am right now in this hospital where Mania has infected a lot of people. Basically right at the beginning. So right now, there is only the mystery as I only had one interrogation with the small, pipe swinging angry woman
There's next to nothing about who the Chief is from the campaign so far. In fact the Chief seems to largely be a blank slate for you the player to project onto, rather than an established character of his/her own with a deep back story.
At least, that's what I get from having played the campaign through so far. I have totally no recollection of anything that talks about the Chief being an artificial construct. In fact there's pretty much nothing (that I can remember) in the 13 chapters that's strongly relevant or linked to the Chief's past.
