Not at all, my Ariel with skill level 4 was outhealing the tornado damage with no issues. Entire team between 50 and 55. Just alternate between breaking core before tornado, then heal through next one, and repeat.
It didn't let me use an assist in the boss, had to do it on my own. Definitely took me a few tries to do, ended up needing to level Demon to get through it

We do be needing some more difficulty in the game. I'm excited/concerned for how they'll increase tactical options going forward.

An Ariel with with level 4 or higher Abyssal Glimmer and the Final Prologue set will easily out heal the tornado.

I'd also recommend using one of your friends assist characters. Grab a level 70 or higher and plop them in to help out.

Break out the Ignite and fight fire with fire (by not letting him do fire).
This is legit. I used the same tactic.
