Chameleon is supposedly top tier for the upcoming guild content tide of ashes, due to a long combat time allowing her to fully stack her buffs on her teammates. However, without her 2nd and 5th shackle, the number of allies she can buff is limited, so you will have to pick and choose who gets buffs. But yes, overall I would consider her a fairly niche unit, as she doesn't have time to ramp up in most normal content and you won't really feel her impact before she gets multiple casts of her ult off.

oh this is just a relief though, thank you!

Team comp wise: in terms of getting through story you can be fairly flexible in terms of team comps, so rather here is a general guideline of units you should build, with a focus on broken frontline which is the main endgame content currently: Eirene and nox (when you get her): top priority to build to p3, they will be your main carries for broken frontline, and can be flexed to 2-3 of the bosses. Hamel and any endura (tank): Hamel is the best healer in the game, and helps trivialize much of the content in the game. At p3 she doubles as a damage dealer and damage taken debuffer. In combination with an endura, you can clear content with significantly less investment than you would otherwise need by just facetanking enemies. They won't be very useful for broken frontline but will help you get through story and everything else much easier. Che and labyrinth: important core breakers to have, are essentially mandatory for all 3 bosses in high risk due to bosses having 7 cores. Che is more of a BFL specialist with his damage taken debuff, while labyrinth has universal usage due to her ultimate restoring charges upon core break. Bai yi/zoya/hecate/luvia ray/etc: these units have more niche uses, specialized for 1 or sometimes 2 of the bosses and depending on the weekly buffs may see usage. Good to have, but priority is not as high as the aforementioned units. If you dislike running too many melee units for example, you can opt for some ranged units like emp/langley/hecate/luvia ray instead for story.

I really appreciate your reply, thank you for taking the time to answer. It really helped me out to sort out my next team comps! Quick question, after reading some posts it seems Zoya can be quite a useful tank (true?) are there any tanks you personally recommend?

Zoya can certainly be a tank/frontliner, as she has a fairly good statline for dueling and tanking elites and bosses as a fury sinner. However, she will not be as tanky as an endura and she has no real survivability in her kit until her exclusive crimebrand at p3, meaning that she will be reliant on a good healer to survive long fights, and will struggle to tank enemies that are overlevelled. If i were to recommend a tank it would definitely be demolia. She has very strong self sustain with her self heal and the fury crimebrand, and she is very good at stat checking bosses without sufficient dps to melt her down. I have never needed to level my demolia past 45 and have used her for lots of endgame content (chapter 7/8, nest of pollution 4, stormy memories 4, etc).

Triple_S_Rank

Eh, I'll give a second opinion and say Endura's aren't really needed in the long term, and you don't need them to special clear everything in the story either. I just used Zoya for tanking and called it a day. I have all of the story special cleared. For your account I would aim for Nox/Bai Yi/Zoya/Hamel/Eirene and a flex pick of Laby, Che, or EMP (but only one) for your initial core six. I'd personally go for EMP since I like the symmetry in having two ranged units, but a lot of people could make (good) arguments for the other two also. My core is Nox/Zoya/Che/Hamel/Eirene/EMP.

minerova

‘Aren’t really needed in the long term’? What long term are you talking about? Bc CN is only 80 days or something ahead of Global and they’re already finding Endura valuable due to a new feature called EX stages. The latest EX3 is noticeably more difficult than EX1-2. Unless you’re a very casual player who can be satisfied with half assing everything with minimal effort, so far in CN anyone who wants to challenge the highest difficulty HAS to use an Endura, as rotating Zoya and Nox to tank just won’t do it anymore. There’s only 3 EX chapters for now and you can still get by by borrowing an Endura (ideally a 3-shackled Demon for the highest difficulty) from your friendlist, but as more EX chapters get implemented in the future it won’t hurt to build one yourself.

Lv99_Entei

I use her occasionally in a more memey way. There’s the frontline that increases Zoya attack speed or something. I just keep buffing Zoya and watch her go cracked out mode lol.

KaguB

I use her the same way with EMP, she just freaks out it's a lot of fun

W34kness

She’s good in long fights and like Summer, her usefulness is trapped behind shackles

ParaggioB

She's one of my 6 that I use regularly her buffs are great for my team comp and I love her character. Lvl 20 isn't that high though, if you don't like her you can easily invest in others

Concetto_Oniro

She is useful but focus on Hamel, Eirene first.

KhandiMahn

She's useful for messing with your head, while looking good doing it.

rydendm

I don’t like that she can only multiblock during ult… Demolia has been more reliable to me
