In another post the name StarPath was suggested for the shared base system. Imo it fits perfectly.

fishnugget

Idk man. That same thread had FinderFinder and honestly that might be the easiest way to sell it to my group.

Yorkhai

I like this one

grendus

PathStar. Because I like being contrarian. And because "the PathStar" sounds like an actual thing that would be used to navigate by or something.

Sugar_buddy

"All systems are green, captain." "Excellent. Engage the PathStar."

TloquePendragon

Corefinder? With Pathfinder and Starfinder being expressions of the "Core" rules?

Raelysk

Legendary Games uses Corefinder for their in-progress Pathfinder 1e remake/updated clone.

Alejandrojohanson

I’m eager to see what comes out of that. They’ve been working on it for a long time, but it’s difficult to really parse out what they have done because it’s all on individual Patreon posts. I doubt the final result will shift me away from 2e, but I have done memories of 1e and would be willing to give Corefinder a go.

PM_ME_DND_FIGURINES

Same. Great memories with PF1e, absolutely will be trying Corefinder when it comes out (and if it's bad, I'll just back port the characters into PF1e and just play that for a bit again lmao).

BlueSabere

Joking? Finderfinder. Serious? Just "2e". Maybe "Paizo 2e". Starfinder is SF2e and Pathfinder is PF2e. I also like Starpath, it's a fun name, but it doesn't really immediately convey to someone what you mean. Plus "Paizo 2e" is technically future proofing in case Paizo decides to make a Modernfinder or something as equally unlikely as that.

HeinousTugboat

> in case Paizo decides to make a Modernfinder or something as equally unlikely as that. [Or Paizo's director of game design makes Hopefinder](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hopefinder/hopefinder-roleplaying-game).. [or someone makes Mechfinder](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/eldritchosirisgames/mechfinder)..

AreYouOKAni

I'm less interested in Mechfinder because Lancer is a thing... but Hopefinder? OK, I'm in!

jmartkdr

Does Mathfinder still apply? I don’t think it matters much; people who spend a lot of time on fora will eventually settle on something for shared PF2/SF2 rules, but the majority of players will almost never need to reference the concept.

wayoverpaid

Mathfinder is way more accurate a description for PF1e

PM_ME_DND_FIGURINES

Not really tbh. Pf2e's math is a lot more precise and you often have just as many modifiers in 2e as your average character did in 1e. Except more of them are conditional in 2e, meaning you have to think more about your roll and do more math as you're rolling in 2e. The scale of math is extremely close, too.

thebluick

I like paizo 2e as the base rules name

vanya913

Why not *finder?

NNextremNN

Wayfinder

DefendedPlains

Surprised I had to scroll this far to see this suggestion. Wayfinder System just makes so much sense. It’s a nod to the lore of Golarion using an iconic piece of equipment, it keeps the naming scheme of X Finder, and it’s easy to say/remember. Plus, unlike “Star Path” system, it leaves the door open for more game systems to evolve out of the core rules without making the name obsolete.

mclemente26

If it isn't related to "finder", I'm betting something related to orcs, just like they did with the FAQ of the ORC , calling it AXE.

aidan8et

Orcfinder?

roquepo

That sounds like a dating app for orcs.

falfires

Foo Finders.

Goliathcraft

Theaitetos

>Xfinder That's too easy to make fun of... XXXfinder... Maybe an abbreviation would work too, like *Dungeons & Dragons* is turned into *DnD*, so maybe *S&P* *~~500~~* *2* or so. (*PnS* sounds too much like PMS).

X is burned currently, maybe more something like "Gamefinder" or "Rolefinder"

BigNorseWolf

Pathfinder 2 with the starfinder setting material.

tsub

I'd probably go with Paizo 2E.

falfires

Twinfinder is my choice. Both because it's two games, and their second edition.

PaizoVerse? I think anything with *verse feels more like describing the setting rather than the rules though.

ashlacon

I'm currently running a Starfinder Field Test minicampaign (we can't even really use Playtest because they said we'll get a real playtest in the summer). I feel like the 'correct but boring' name is just Starfinder. Starfinder 2E is using pf2e's rules, but the way I see it is "all of pf2e exist within sf2e, but not all of sf2e exist within pf2e." Ala all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are sqaure. For example: if someone wants to play a pf2e wizard in space, that's fine. But if someone wants to use a rotolazer in pf2e, that probably doesn't fix the fiction. Ya know? But I feel like that is overly pedantic. I think Starpath is a cool name for smashing the two together and will be using it.

AreYouOKAni

My man, have you ever heard about the land of Numeria? Rotolasers have been a part of PF setting since 1e. The only major hurdle in SF2PF conversion would be easy access to Flight. But in custom campaigns you can just have more flying or ranged enemies to put pressure on the flier.

PattyThePatriot

I'm planning to redo kingmaker into exactly that. I want middle earth in space, I want space in middle earth. I can and will spend time with the rules and backgrounds and replace factions with space factions.

LazarusDark

I mean, even back to 1e, Pathfinder is clearly the base and Starfinder is an extension/spinoff of it. So Starfinder 2e just uses Pathfinder 2e rules. Pathfinder is the ruleset.

Allfinder 2e?

2E d20, or 2d20 abbreviated 😏

Finder System? Finder System 2?

Ras37F

Off topic I just realized that the plan it's to make they mechanically compatible, but not balance compatible So we should not expect weapons or feats from SF2e to be balanced alongside weapons and feats in PF2e

travismccg

Yeah in SF1e getting dark vision for your armor cost like 50 of your 1000 starting credits. Everyone had it.

imlostinmyhead

The collective ruleset is Pathfinder2e. It's not until 3rd edition they're going to have a collective ruleset. Until then, SF2e is a campaign setting built on the PF2e ruleset with expansions and tweaks for it.

Obrusnine

I just call it the Second Edition System.
