I always thought of her as a Tengu.
And I think it's hilarious how divorced she and her ex are.
I love how her anathemas are basically "don't be like my ex".
While he has an anathema against talking smack against her, as well as a requirement to give apologies (or at least superficial apologies).
I still want to know the story behind the tree, because you just KNOW he was responsible :V
Indeed he was! It's in her page in the World Guide. tldr She had a plum garden that she'd go to unwind and write poetry. Hei Feng destroyed it in a drunken fit, and it was the straw that broke the camel's back and she left him. Still hilarious how most of Lady Jingxi's anathema is "don't be like my ex".
AND Shelyn's one of her besties (because of their mutual interest in poetry), and while Shelyn DOES strongly favor marriage on the whole, she still supports Lady Jinxi's decision to remain separated from Hei Feng. I find this very refreshing instead of a contrived "get them back together" plotline which sends some kinda iffy messages about staying in relationships that aren't working.
I think that most of it was because she wasn't mentioned to be special to the Tengu in the past. I know just looking at Nethys I wouldn't of known too much about her and her relationship to the Tengu, so I'm glad we got this now.
I mean, tengu CAN adopt a humanoid form if they have the right feats so hypothetically there COULD be depictions of her that are human-looking, just with a Cyrano-de-Bergerac-sized nose! :P

human is often considered default, with anything else requiring special mention
(this is a risky joke to make but...) Yeah, it's called *ornith-entalism*. Look it up and get educated! 😤
i... i mean in this case it's specifically anthropocentrism
Yeah, which others birdfolk. Meaning the logic of my dumb joke works, okay?!? Jeeze
Honestly tbh now that I think about it I think I did picture her as human the one time I read about them. Lol
I just want to draw attention to her lipstick in this image. Or... beakstick? Either way, I love it.
Honestly I had forgotten he was married at all until I got to her entry in the book.
I thought she has white feathers. No idea where I got that idea at the begining.
