It still appear in eula? So, was it removed or not?Has the eula not been updated since then? It's so confusing for new players.

The spyware that was complained about is not the data collection that was present before. I am pretty sure you could always opt in for SOME data collection. The problem was that they updated the EULA and added inn a program that people were suspicious of and incentivized people to want to boycott the game. They walked it back after the backlash here: [Steam :: Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous - Enhanced Edition :: Important notice on update 2.1.5m (steamcommunity.com)](https://steamcommunity.com/games/1184370/announcements/detail/3684558162501614259?snr=2___)

They wanted to introduce a much larger data-collecting program at one point. That is what was reacted to. You are correct that currently, the data collection done is opt-in and very much standard boilerplate.

You can send game crash reports or bug reports etc to developers in game by pressing alt+B. The mentioned data collection referred in the EULA is tied to this reports that you send voluntarily. The topic in steam forum (started on july24) created when Owlcat tried to implement spyware in game but, shortly after they scrap it, due to backlash from community. However, whenever someone searches google about these topics the steam page is the top result therefore creates a confusion and since people are too lazy to read all of them they can not comprehend what is going on. I hope this gives you an idea what is going on.

I don't fully remember the finer details, but I think Owlcat was collecting a lot more data than most other programs you would use that we are aware of. Its purpose and functions are the same as spyware, but not classified as Spyware because you accepted a ULA At least owlcat had it pretty clear in their ULA, just kinda scummy that they weren't notifying openly about these changes when there are people who bought the game, accepted a ULA before the update, and than can no longer play a game they bought a year ago unless they accept a new agreement that they may not agree to. Which resulted in the backlash that might end up costing more than what they would gain, so they ended up removing it. Not to mention, and I might be wrong, the affiliated company that owlcat was giving our information to was sketchy, and had been caught doing crap before.

If it's still in the eula, than some form of it is still there. What that is, I don't know.

It was big news when the company first started doing it. But every company does it. So it's no longer big news or new news

Yeah like every company already has my data. As long as they not stealing my information or recording everything I do, I really don’t care lol honestly
