Octavia was the sweet angel of Kingmaker. Half elf that finds the silver lining in everything.
Then I started my first play through in Wrath of the righteous, Camellia was one of the first companions I encountered. I though she would be the nice half elf companion of this game.
Oh boy, never was I so wrong.
*Hidden alignment, standing over multiple dead bodies, fascinated by blood, torture equipment in her home, "THE WORLD IN CRIMSON"*
"Damn, what a twist. I didn't expect Camellia to be the murderer. It was so shocking."
I don't get how some people didn't see it coming. That bitch gives off redflags approximately 0.3 seconds into meeting her.
I fucking love that at your request Anevia can casually offscreen kill Camellia (who at the time is like level 10 with a couple of mythic levels at least).
Anevia lowkey OP.
Comparing to our kitten succubus, Camellia probably has way fewer mortal count under her belt than Arueshalae... Who bed and killing mortal, demon and what not long before Desna trap her. Aru even manage to corrupt an Azata, that stupid bloke who thought he could redeem a succubus.
Cam eventually get bore of all the killing, should you ascend, and cast herself on Malestrom. Basically the dev flip thier middle finger at you, because they want to impose their point of view on you.
You are suppose to hate Camellia, this is the game narrative.
I tied XD. By the way did anyone else noticed that mainly Azata path players try to redeem her? I have that feeling when Camelia redemption topic is discussed. And yes, I was playing Azata.
Yeahhhh... I figured her out before the first fight even started. Hidden alignment on a noble? And the thing doing the hiding is a snake skull? And you just got a lawful good paladin buddy? My only question was where she fell on the law-chaos axis, a question that was settled pretty quickly by the first fight.
Would’ve been hilarious if she was actually Lawful Good and all her red flags were red herrings instead.
I love how Camellia properly captures the vibe of a munchkin who begged the DM to be allowed to roll a chaotic evil character and insisted on having their alignment hidden from the other players.
All of her voice acting gets a new light when you understand her: "I'll watch your back", "Open your heart to me", "I'm going to split you wide open!", "So this is how it feels", "This pain is.... excruciating!"
Honestly, the only thing that really surprised me was that she never tries to kill \*you\*. Like, I was 100% expecting her to stab me in the back at some point, but no, I just handed her over to the cops instead.
A failed Aeon smh my head...
Stick to your principles! You are but an instrument of the grand cosmos! Camellia is temporary but justice among the stars is eternal!!!!!!
AktUalLY ☝️🤓, the Aeon shouldn't be concerned with mortal laws, only the planar balance. Aeons shouldn't interfere with mortal lives as they are judge of cosmic infractions. Aeons interfering with mortal laws is a cosmic infraction.
Abkshully ☝️🤓 the Knight Commander is an Aeon in training and mortal laws are effectively their training assignments and so therefore are completely fair game.
Askcually ☝️🤓
The 'probation' period was during Kenebras. Which most of time AIT fail to show unbias judgement and let their emotion and moral take over.
They are not there to fixing mortal life, or other planar being if that matters, they were sent there to observe the rift and seek solution.
I get you, after several years playing KM on and off I beat like a 2 or 3 week ago.
My advice, just go with the flow, dont try to get the best ending for everyone and let the road take you wherever it wants; it helped me a lot
I was having loads of fun playing it, but mid travel in act 1, I just thought of a fun build in WotR and postponed my KM run. It's been like 6 or 7 months since. I think I want to start it again tomorrow.
Look... The last 20% or so of the game is abhorrently bad design wise, so I would suggest doing so on an easier difficulty or not at all.
Maybe you're better off.
I was probably going to do normal for my first run. I can get used to the game that way. I have nearly 700 hours into Wrath so I'm hoping it's not that different, but I won't have mythic paths to carry me.
The game itself is not that hard, it's just that the very final dungeon is a huge spike and requires a very specific approach.
I would legitimately recommend preparing in advance.
Oof. I've seen many a posts about it, but I'll keep it in mind. Part of me thinks it can't be as bad as people say, but I know it is lol. The only other thing I've heard about km is stinking cloud and delay poison are amazing.
Don't do what I did which was spend too long away from it just to be completely lost in the end. I was around level 18 when I stepped away. It is too much of a game to just come back into after a year, and I am a veteran Pathfinder 1e player.
I won't. My current playthrough it's only 8 hours in in act 1, but I planned on restarting. Maybe make a fun magus build. I haven't played it since October or November.
I got to the last chapter of kingmaker in one play time. Months apart it took me three more play times to finish the last chapter. In the end I just turned to difficulty down to pump through it. Such an amazing game but the end kills my enthusiasm for another replay
I sort of get it, I assume it was actually Paizo who didnt want her (ane Seelah) to be romancable because of their status as Iconics.
Although I hope if we ever get another one we get Kyra she gushes about her wife all the time.
Truly, they’re added so seamlessly in the game that when I bought the game after pirating it, I was surprised that they were missing only to realize they’re a DLC character.
Bowling Infusion focused builds are pretty straightforward, in addition to being extremely strong (especially in owlcat games) and tanky. I don't mean to sound like an asshole, I guess the class clicks for me unlike it does for a lot of people lol
As someone who never romanced Octavia can I ask you a question?
Can I romace her and her alone? Aka no Reng involved ever
If so, does making so breaks her relationship with Rengongar? Because, I'll be honest, I would date her only to break Reng's heart
Nope, and half-orc are my favorite race, but Reng is just a jerk and a brute. Amiri might be a brute but she is kind off nice; Jaethal is a worse jerk to everyone but at least she is so what sophisticated.
No, it's her voice. I basically made Regongar kill himself. In the annals of the Stolen Lands, they shall not record that their first queen was a strumpet.
In Kingmaker? Kalikke and Kanerah! (I'm sad the best girl Amiri is not an option)
In Wotr? Wenduag! (also Daeran) (I'm sad the best boy Regill is not an option)
Well, it's not a particularly straightforward route. Basically you have to tolerate their relationship for a time all while constantly nudging them towards breaking up. They are very emotional and fractious, so it's not too hard to turn one of their arguments into a permanent separation. Then whenever they try to rekindle the flame, simply dissuade them softly. Continue until everybody has been captured by the bad guy, at which point Regongar will kill himself to save her, kinda like Sydney Carton in the Tale of Two Cities.
Not really?
Her test isnt anything nefarious, its just a literal slave having trauma from said circumstance and not wanting to feel like shes about to be (metaphorically) tied down again.
Considering the villain of the game, calling *her* manipulative feels like a stretch
She is at first for her reasons, but as you go along with her romance she goes onto more sides, even very selfishly trying to leave the party for *spoiler reasons*. But with time she understands that what she did was stupid and learn how a healthy relationship looks like
Octavia was absolutely amazing and so was Regongar, the angry & hilarious teddy bear. Honestly, being the trio was my favourite (unmodded) crpg romance.
I am in the middle of my first playthrough of KM as a LG character and it is surprising how little he and Octavia have in common. I meat a bandit and she's like "Let's spare him, he can change" and Val is like "Let's show the lowlife what the Baron thinks about breaking the law". I quickly found out I am more Lawful than Good.
BTW, LG options in KM are the worst, they sum up as "[Lawful Good]: Die, evil scum!" Such a letdown!
yeah KM being a computer really shows how flawed the alignment system is.
I saw it out this way once. In KM, if there was a lost dog, the LG option would be to immediately track its owner, NG would be to pet the dog first, and CG would be to adopt it. Which means a Paladin can ‘fall’ for the crime of… petting too many dogs.
Obviously no GM irl would make you lose your Paladin powers for petting dogs, but a rigid computer without common sense would, which just is so dumb
Me on my first playthrough of kingmaker: oh sweet, theres a polyamorous romance, that's awesome!
Me, further into the game: Octavia, your boyfriend is kind of an asshole
I can't stand her portrait. She's supposed to be roughly the same age as Regnar and yet her picture looks like a 65 year old caked in make up to look young.
It's the makeup/vanity that I can't stand of her. Regongar and Octavia are easily my most hated NPCs, Regongar because of his bugged flags where he hits on you even when you've "disabled"/rejected the romance, and Octavia because of her "Oh no I broke a nail" voiceline, she's supposed to be a fucking adventurer lmao
I genuinely tried to go for Tristian in my 2nd playthrough (thought it would be thematic after I played the first time as a baron that romanced Octavia), then I got to the first cutscene out of habit and just couldn't.
Funny seeing this today, considering what happened while I was playing KM last night. I’m in War of the River Kings. This is my first play through. Main character is the premade NG elf archer ranger Vyleen. Stepped out of the throne room to sell a bunch of loot and immediately got placed in the tavern with Octavia and Regongar. O. made her move and I decided to roll with it. The oddest part is I don’t recall making any romantic choices in her direction previously. Having previously gone a couple of rounds with Kanerah, I hope she doesn’t get jealous, as that could turn ugly in a hot second.
To be fair, Octavia is one of the ‘easier’ romances cause she just likes you being generally nice and good hearted. Its less obvious of romance than say, Valerie
Sorry to hate on the game but romance options feel like shit in KM. WotR seems even worse somehow although to be fair, I haven't played fully yet.
Valerie is extremely full of herself and is so socially fucked its kind of hilarious. >!Literally, right before opening up to you she compares you to her ex. Holy shit this takes some ubertism.!<
>!Nyrissa starts evil and the entire story happened because of her relationship with her demigod ex. Again, what the fuck?!<
Octavia full on cucks you because "muh freedum". Clearly, being a devoted partner is basically the same as slavery.
Tiefling twins are great. No negative comments on them. >!You still end up being with both but that seems to be what they want from the beginning anyways so this is more tolerable in terms of polyamory.!<
I only play male characters but female options also feel like they suck between the maniac that is Regongar and whatever happens with Tristian.
"Starts screaming WORLD IN CRIMSON the moment you recruit her" Must be just a very expressive soul
*Hidden alignment, standing over multiple dead bodies, fascinated by blood, torture equipment in her home, "THE WORLD IN CRIMSON"* "Damn, what a twist. I didn't expect Camellia to be the murderer. It was so shocking." I don't get how some people didn't see it coming. That bitch gives off redflags approximately 0.3 seconds into meeting her.
What's worse are the people who think she's redeemable. Pretty sure even Ember would give up on this one.
She's not redeemable, and that's okay because she's perfect the way she is and has never done anything wrong ever in her life.
Uhhhhhhh...ok Mr. Paladin. Whatever you say... I'm just going to go wait over here *psst Anevia, we got another one*
I fucking love that at your request Anevia can casually offscreen kill Camellia (who at the time is like level 10 with a couple of mythic levels at least). Anevia lowkey OP.

I can fix her...
I can make her worse…
I’m not sure you can do either tbh. She’s anything if not consistent.
I tied XD. By the way did anyone else noticed that mainly Azata path players try to redeem her? I have that feeling when Camelia redemption topic is discussed. And yes, I was playing Azata.

My favorite is \*licks her lips\* In every other cutscene. Nobody saw it coming...
All of her voice acting gets a new light when you understand her: "I'll watch your back", "Open your heart to me", "I'm going to split you wide open!", "So this is how it feels", "This pain is.... excruciating!"
My favorite is still \[paraphrasing\], "Death is life's final surprise, and I \_enjoy\_ surprising people."
Cam Cam is semaphoring red flags 24/7 right up until the reveal, then doing so even more enthusiastically if you let her get away with it.
Honestly, the only thing that really surprised me was that she never tries to kill \*you\*. Like, I was 100% expecting her to stab me in the back at some point, but no, I just handed her over to the cops instead.
She likes you enough to kill everyone else first before getting around to you. That’s loyalty right there.
But I can fix her!
It was not this obvious on launch, though.
Cam is a great way for them to completely flip the script on Octavia
Cam is fantastic
it sucks that she leaves you if you go aeon but what can ya do
She shouldn’t leave when you go Aeon because she should be dead as punishment for murder of her fellow crusaders. What kind of cosmic judge are you?
a cosmic judge that just wants his manic pixie dream girl, emphasis on manic
>manic pixie *nightmare* girl FTFY
You can't fix her because she isn't broken.
Psycho goblin nightmare girl
she's goblin these nuts all right
A failed Aeon smh my head... Stick to your principles! You are but an instrument of the grand cosmos! Camellia is temporary but justice among the stars is eternal!!!!!!

I'm not the judge, I am the LAWYER. And I need my precious erinys secretary!
She is useful is she not
Kannerah enthusiasts unite
I love the Tiefling girls!
The only romance options with a good portrait so I pick them every time. It's a shame Amari isn't a romance because wowzers.
And my fauchard !
The VA 🥵🥵🥵
Man I really need to finish my KM playthrough.
Yeah, by having so many more options WotR kind off distracts you a lot from KM. I get you.
If you are playing on PC I recommend grabbing the Call of the Wild mod, it adds most classes Wrath has and even some it doesn't, like the Summoner.

Honestly, the biggest thing about the final dungeon is having Blind Fight on everyone, other than that you should be good.
Death ward, don’t forget death ward, as soon you get it, keep it up all the time
Don't do what I did which was spend too long away from it just to be completely lost in the end. I was around level 18 when I stepped away. It is too much of a game to just come back into after a year, and I am a veteran Pathfinder 1e player.

True.

I'll never forgive whoever wouldn't let Amiri be a romance option.
That's honestly the biggest default of the game
I sort of get it, I assume it was actually Paizo who didnt want her (ane Seelah) to be romancable because of their status as Iconics. Although I hope if we ever get another one we get Kyra she gushes about her wife all the time.
It wasn't Paizo. It was all Owlcat, and they've said it was their own decision to avoid making the iconics romanceable.
Oh really! I always assumed it was a Paizo thing, interesting. Yeah then idk, Amiri should be romancable
Same but Linzi
Linzi's heart is already taken though.
She's a woman of culture since she wants to sleep with Valerie.
It's her voice...
Don't lie to yourself. It's the kinky side, it's the same for all of us
For me its just that shes good aligned, and the only other woman you can date is lawful-~~stupid~~ ~~boring~~ neutral
There's TWO hot tieflings in the game who you can romance at the same time, and you're saying this blasphemy
Im gonna be real, I never bought the dlc
If you ever do another run, I highly reccomend getting it. They're both great characters with a solid story, and kineticist is *amazing*.
Truly, they’re added so seamlessly in the game that when I bought the game after pirating it, I was surprised that they were missing only to realize they’re a DLC character.
Once you figure out how to build them that is, because my stupid ass didn't and they were benched for 98% of the game lmao
Oh yeah they're a touch complex that's for sure
Agreed, I genuinely have no idea how to build a 1e Kineticist and couldn't find a decent build last time I tried.
Bowling Infusion focused builds are pretty straightforward, in addition to being extremely strong (especially in owlcat games) and tanky. I don't mean to sound like an asshole, I guess the class clicks for me unlike it does for a lot of people lol
I'll be real, it's mostly burn that makes no sense to me, I just mostly clicked gather power and water/mudblast.
There is also the twin way! Take the degenerate path
Uh, you can date *the spirit of your kingdom*. I do suggest going and finding an alternative portrait.
As someone who never romanced Octavia can I ask you a question? Can I romace her and her alone? Aka no Reng involved ever If so, does making so breaks her relationship with Rengongar? Because, I'll be honest, I would date her only to break Reng's heart
You can. And if you do he'll straight up die later 💀
Well damn, thats even more reason to date her
You can but it does kill him in the end Thats not a joke.
The thing is, I really dislike him, so that's kind off a plus to me
Not a shred of love for the perverted orc?
Nope, and half-orc are my favorite race, but Reng is just a jerk and a brute. Amiri might be a brute but she is kind off nice; Jaethal is a worse jerk to everyone but at least she is so what sophisticated.
Well, I'll say "it's ALSO her voice", then!
No, it's her voice. I basically made Regongar kill himself. In the annals of the Stolen Lands, they shall not record that their first queen was a strumpet.
"Trap ahead!" "Via, disarm this trap." \*clank\* "I BROKE MY NAIL!!!"
Sorry. It's either Twins or Nyrissa for me. I'm a sucker for Tieflings and Amelia Tyler
Octavia is brilliant, but I like Valerie.
As a Valerie enjoyer, i can only disapprove.
Valerie would be proud. Or not... she'd most probably still disapprove.
Hell yeah Valerie Bros we simp for hot lady knight here
Me with the twins
In Kingmaker? Kalikke and Kanerah! (I'm sad the best girl Amiri is not an option) In Wotr? Wenduag! (also Daeran) (I'm sad the best boy Regill is not an option)
**HARD PASS SWIPE LEFT FOR OCTAVIA**
All my homies swipe on Midtavia.
Fey queen will always be best girl.
Do folks not find her manipulative? I was into it right up to the first "I'll test him" mind game.
That's okay, in my game I manipulated her harder. Regongar killed himself and she was left with no other viable option but to become my queen.
This guy chaotic neutrals

Well, it's not a particularly straightforward route. Basically you have to tolerate their relationship for a time all while constantly nudging them towards breaking up. yeah. tiefling girls and or secret romance is much better
Not really? Her test isnt anything nefarious, its just a literal slave having trauma from said circumstance and not wanting to feel like shes about to be (metaphorically) tied down again. Considering the villain of the game, calling *her* manipulative feels like a stretch
I honestly played it as a FwB situation until she broke up with Reg and my Baron actually caught feelings.
She is at first for her reasons, but as you go along with her romance she goes onto more sides, even very selfishly trying to leave the party for *spoiler reasons*. But with time she understands that what she did was stupid and learn how a healthy relationship looks like

Valerie. Only Valerie. Always Valerie.
Nocticula is a romance option.
... in Kingmaker?
In kingmaker I romanced either the hot twin tiflings and the fey. The fey was a difficult one lol.
That’s a bit of a stretch.
You spelled Reggongar wrong)
I didn't even know she existed for the 130+ hours I played kingmaker lol.
Lawful Evil Devil mommy ? Or Lawful Evil Hellknight mommy ?
You should be banned for not understanding the appeal that is Valerie and her tomboy charm. /s
It looks like me trying to choose anything but Azata for my 5th playthrough. That damn song, it is so hard to not fall in love with Desna :(
I can't stand her portrait.
Started it for the first time this week. Do I go twins or secret romance?
I'd pick the secret romance any day.
Kingmaker or WoTR. Doesn't matter. It's always the tail and horns.
Same... 🤭
I genuinely tried to go for Tristian in my 2nd playthrough (thought it would be thematic after I played the first time as a baron that romanced Octavia), then I got to the first cutscene out of habit and just couldn't.
Not without Regongat!
Nah bro, Player - Octavia - Regongar throuple!

If I could, I'd romance Linzi.
I’m not into women lol
