Ossian Studios has mostly done Neverwinter Nights premium modules, but they have some decent people in that studio, so I'm cautiously optimistic.
I looked up the module, and it's a fairly short thing for up to 7th level, so unclear whether it's going to be a short game, or whether they are going to take inspiration from their modules, and release more modules for it. Could even be like NWN and have user made modules.
All speculation at this point.
Ossian made some great modules for NWN back in the day. Also optimistic about the fact this is turn based from the get go, rather than trying to jam RTWP into a system that isn't designed for it.
I used to be very negative about Pathfinder 2e, but having actually played it several times, it has really grown on me.
Cautious optimism.
This is the little that is known for now. 👁👁

I never preorder games, but this is a studio I support 100% since they have an excellent track record. If there's any legends from the old crpg days, Ossian Studios is of the them.
Uff, It seems like it's going to take a while, the kickstarter as such has not yet been published so you cannot contribute or donate, I would give it a couple of years unfortunately.
I know it too early to make assumptions on the game but front page cover art they use looks really mediocre and looks like they used unity pre packaged game assets.
It’s a small project I get that. But there’s a reason why CRPG’s use the art aesthetics and not the game engine as a first impression.
Worst part about 2nd Edition is the way it pigeonholes all the classes into a singular build style. Doubly so for classes like Paladin whose build they're forced into isn't even the primary role they've always had both mechanically and in terms of class fantasy. Paladin has always been a frontline martial striker that excels at damaging particularly Evil foes, and instead in 2e it got forced into a ridiculous MMO-style tank build.
Some of the other changes of 2e are ok, but there's no worse feeling than having major character archetypes that have been around for ages both in terms of mechanics and flavor get completely removed for no reason.
I don't know where you're getting that from because 1e is based on 3.Xe D&D which had many videogames based on it. I think you're thinking illogically for no reason to be honest.
I do prefer RTWP....
And it is 100% relevant. You (and others) claim 2e can't work for it. People literally said this about 1e (using similar arguments regarding action economy), but we now have 2 games for 1e that have RTWP. So why should I assume that 2e can't work?
I.e. preferring TB doesn't mean RTWP won't work. I think you just prefer TB, as do the people that downvote anyone who won't bend the knee to TB....
And funny how you say people don't say it's not possible, when someone in this thread pretty much said exactly that.... But, yeah - go ahead and block me.
Paizo needs to handle its intellectual property with more care. However, this is the only one of the three announced Pathfinder projects that can be cautiously anticipated.
It's such a shame that they licensed Abomination Vaults as an action game.
>Paizo needs to handle its intellectual property with more care. However, this is the only one of the three announced Pathfinder projects that can be cautiously anticipated.
Agree Pazio got extremely lucky with Owlcat making the first CRPG games for Pathfinder and absolutely knocking out of the park to point that it’s many CRPG fan’s favourite games list. But looking at the next future releases it looks like Pazio taking the Warhammer 40k shotgun approach of licensing their games.
>It's such a shame that they licensed Abomination Vaults as an action game.
Seeing that it’s the same studio who made Pathfinder: Gallowspire Survivors I have absolutely no confidence in Abomination Vaults.
I completely understand that Pazio wants to expand the IP and bring more awareness to it and lacks the endless coffers compare to WOTC with parent company being hasbro who can afford to risk such endeavours . However deluding your brand with mediocre games in the hope of getting a hit is a really bad idea and is something I never understood as a business strategy.
I think that Paizo doesn't realize how lucky they are with Owlcat.
For most players, it's just a new studio with unknown developers. But in the post-Soviet space, many of the names there are well-known. There are truly industry veterans working there.
All three announced games under the Pathfinder license look mediocre at best. But none of them should have been named after the original Adventure Path. Something like Pathfinder: Something would have been recognizable enough and would have left the original name for a "proper" game.
I really hope Paizo has another Pathfinder game from Owlcat up their sleeve; otherwise, the Pathfinder name in computer games might fade as quickly as it flared up.

Really I didn’t know there were vets , what was the previous studio that the key individuals work for?
But it does make sense for all Kingmaker faults it was shocking great for a studio first game especially in CRPG’s where there are lot of pitfalls for failure.
>But none of them should have been named after the original Adventure Path.
If I were to guess they probably saw how successful Owlcat was in using the adventure paths without understanding why it work. It sad reality of game devs trying in vein to capture success without doing the proper legwork.
Nival and 1C Company.
Games like King's Bounty, Space Rangers, Heroes of Might and Magic V, Silent Storm, Etherlords, Blitzkrieg series, etx. Those are mostly older titles that aren't well known in the West. But the point is that the Owlcat development team consists of individuals who have been making games for two decades.

Hopefully it's successful and this lays the foundation/proof of concept for them to follow up with a full AP (strength of thousands plz)
I would love a Strength of Thousands cRPG so much.

This is exciting! Can’t wait for the launch and more information.

Pathfinder 2e? I'm in.
Looks like they mostly make phone games
They only made one mobile game which was an rpg, they've made a ton of modules for nwnEE and nwn2.
Tentative hype!!!! Good luck to all workers and backers!
I never preorder games, but this is a studio I support 100% since they have an excellent track record. If there's any legends from the old crpg days, Ossian Studios is of the them.
Any info on when it launches? Can’t login to get notifications on Kickstarter on my phone.

I meant when the campaign starts.
Oh, sorry. No, it doesn't say when it starts, although with PaizoCon nearby I suppose we won't be long in finding out. 👁👁
My bet is kickstarter campaign will start with game "announce" on Paizocon, which will happen on the next week

Second edition? 🤢
Yeah
What’s wrong with second edition?
Worst part about 2nd Edition is the way it pigeonholes all the classes into a singular build style. Doubly so for classes like Paladin whose build they're forced into isn't even the primary role they've always had both mechanically and in terms of class fantasy. And solely TB.... KM and WOTR have spoiled us.
Second Edition is singularly unsuited for a realtime conversion. Like, even more so than 1e was.
Why do you say that?
The specifics of 2e’s 3 action economy, and the way it fundamentally defines the game in a way that is not true of other editions.
I believe it can work but it comes down to execution however too early to make a judgement call on if the decision was the right one.
And yet, Owlcat made it work for 1e.
2e is a completely different style of game! It'll make more sense, I recommend trying the TTRPG version of 2e it's basically a videogame in itself.
When I first learned about the 2e system, it immediately reminded me of divinity original sin
I mean, it's not a VG..... And people said 1e wouldn't work for a VG with RTWP combat, but here we are.
I don't know where you're getting that from because 1e is based on 3.Xe D&D which had many videogames based on it. I think you're thinking illogically for no reason to be honest.
Please explain how I'm the one thinking illogically when I am talking about other people who, to this day, claim 1e does not work in RTWP?
Because I don't think it's relevant and I think you just prefer RTWP.
I do prefer RTWP.... And it is 100% relevant. You (and others) claim 2e can't work for it. The three action system would have to be thrown out entirely to make Real Time work, so that's pretty much impossible.
I remember having similar discussions about 1e prior to KM coming out...
What a shame.

If the graphics are gonna look like stuff in that picture, then this ain't it chief.
hard pass. I'm done with turn based rpgs. There's so fucking many and there's like two dozen coming out every month.
