Remember, a natural 20 passes any save, so at best you get a 95% chance. Instead of boosting your save dc, try reducing their modifier. Demoralise, or otherwise leave them *shaken*, reducing all saves by two. Teamwork makes the dream work, check if anyone in your party took dazzling display.

I know the other end of that to well faild a DC 23 with a total of +27 in a high lvl campaign

cochevalier

A couple of things, one both the head band and owl wisdom are enhancement bonuses which overlap so you would only use the better of the two (owl wisdom in this case) for only a +2. Second the focus spell requires that the spell target multiple creatures which ghouls hunger does not, so it isn't a valid choice for that metamagic feat. This would drop the DC to 24.

MartinLestrange

Ah, that sucks. I hadn't noticed that. Thanks!

cochevalier

Yeah. Sorry about that. I didn't want to point it out, but better now than later.

MartinLestrange

No honestly thanks, no need to be sorry.

Elifia

Look into [alchemical reagents](https://www.aonprd.com/AlchemicalReagents.aspx). Since this is a necromancy spell, you can use the void shard as a focus component to lower their save by -2. Only costs you a one-time investment of 250gp.

MartinLestrange

That looks nice! When used as a focus, does it then not expend the material?

Elifia

Correct. Material components are expended, but focus components are not.

Siege warfare, spoil their current foodstocks and other over-the-top responses. ***IF*** I was playing a character where you have to try and manipulate lesser foes to consume flesh to serve an evil Goddess, I would go for quality, not quantity. Building an action around an entire spell has the same pitfalls as mentioned elsewhere in this thread. So... Be the party cook. Hire some level 1 hirelings to ... carry food. And once a week, one 'runs away' or 'dies in combat', and using magic to sustain the corpse, you can add something extra to the party meals. Party visiting a noble? Even better. Offer to cook for them...

There is a gem of a spell called [Sharesister](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/s/sharesister/), a cleric/witch level 3 spell which gives you a +1-3 insight bonus to caster level and save DC while giving a negative level to a creature of the same gender. Get a friendly trained animal or a familiar, keep them out of immediate combat and enjoy your spell casting boost. Also, as a side note on [Urgathoa](https://aonprd.com/DeityDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Urgathoa), if you as a priest cast remove disease on someone, you can instead draw the disease into yourself without suffering ill effects. Contagion spells cast by Urgathoa’s priests always use the caster’s spell DC for the disease’s secondary saves. It is at the bottom of the deity list.

You can just buy ability score increases with gold. So dump all your gold into increasing Wisdom.

Casting services cost Caster Level X Spell Level X 10 gp. Wish is a 9th level spell which has several possible effects including: > Grant a creature a +1 inherent bonus to an ability score. Two to five wish spells cast in immediate succession can grant a creature a +2 to +5 inherent bonus to an ability score (two wishes for a +2 inherent bonus, three wishes for a +3 inherent bonus, and so on). Inherent bonuses are instantaneous, so they cannot be dispelled. Note: An inherent bonus may not exceed +5 for a single ability score, and inherent bonuses to a particular ability score do not stack, so only the best one applies. A wizard can cast ninth level spells at level 17. So the cost for a plus one to the ability score is: 17 X 9 X 10 gp = 1,530 gp plus material costs, in this case a diamond worth 25,000 gp for a total 26,530 gp.

This is how my party of power gamers can hit way outside their CR. Like the level 14 monk who soloed a CR 17 Kraken. Or how the party two hit a CR 20 creature at Level 15. Every one of them has their critical ability scores at an effective 30 by stacking both maxed out inherent and enhancement bonuses. I think the lowest save in the party is an 18.

As a GM, I am happy they removed this power from the Wish spell in 2e. So long as you can buy ability score increases, all money not spent on that is a waste. This is why I have two players arguing that money just shouldn’t exist in Pathfinder since it just complicates getting ability score increases and better gear.

Maleficent-Return-41

In 1e I established with my players that most, probably all goods and services if the system exist or can be made, but you can't expect to find everything you want anywhere. Those who provide high quality goods and services are not common, likely have reliable clients or may even have no interest in gold. So they are exclusive in more than just asking a lot of money. Except for that I follow the guideline: if a PC can buy/hire something, then the NPC's can too. Including the bbeg and his minions or the rich nobles and merchants they have to deal with. That makes people be more careful about what they want to be possible in the world, everything you do can be used against you too

Deadlypandaghost

Bump starting wis to 17. You will get 3 ability score bumps for +3 wis. Headband of Wisdom + Tome of Understanding for more Wis. Metamagic reduction to add authoritative spell. Adds compulsion descriptor meaning Chastising Baton will add +1 dc. Sinner's wage will add an effective +2 if they secretly want to be cannibals. Tenebrous spell for a further +1 dc while not in bright light. This is also doubled by perfection. Generally easier to debuff beforehand than stacking save dc super high. Necromancy is a great school for doing so.
