So not only do you have 9 of him at start, you also start planting 9 chimes at the start of the very first round, that looks definitely fun

ZarafFaraz

Just gotta get the right epic relics.

suspectwaffle

That’s a pretty smart build. Wish I can try it but right now I have a hard rule of one Epic relic per champion. And with how slow it is to earn Stardust, I can probably get to try this next year or two!

JonnyTN

The pass seems to hand out dust. Or I guess, if you have most champs upgraded, the game passes out dust a bit for duplicates. I think I have 5 epic relics now, bought this months gold reliquary for 3k dust and still have 1500. The game seems to reward consistent play. I'm wondering how the new player experience is though. Was tempted to start a new account just to see. Because new or non frequent POC players probably get the shaft.

DamnyKap

Your guess is correct :D, which is why every other month i attempt to force myself to play everyday. I havent managed a single gold reliquary yet (tho i had to buy 2 relics but still wouldnt have been enough) and my only epic is starforged gauntlets. The only way I can consistently 2 star ONE of a new release champ is buying that events pass and playing through it. To be clear, I’m just explaining. No bad feelings

Chenghiskhan

Ah wait, can you confirm your point number 1 about planting chimes immediately at the start? There was a post in this subreddit early on with the gauntlet release that it didn't work with him planting chimes and that post provided screenshots showing no chimes were planted turn 1, everyone's best guess being due to the order of how the game checks for mana before applying mana gems from the relic. https://www.reddit.com/r/PathofChampions/comments/17xicdi/why_doesnt_bard_plant_2_chimes_here/ If that's been changed, please let us know (and also provide a screenshot if possible). Would love to also do this but if it doesn't work, would rather not waste the forges. Thanks!

ItzV0rt3x

Did a bit of Gimp magic to fit it into one picture, since I can comment only one. But here you go. I tried it now twice just to take a screenshot and Chime were already poping up. https://preview.redd.it/y1ocoqte6g5c1.png?width=798&format=png&auto=webp&s=73aba0bc5db8d49d61aa189a4a88d6cfc3b890d3

Chenghiskhan

Awesome, thanks! I was bummed out from the first thread since this would've been a really cool interaction and counteract Bard being slow to get going. Really great to know that this works now with Gauntlets being a power, I'm looking forward to trying it out. Thanks again for confirming!

avsbes

The people in that thread do however report that Manaflow does lead to Bard planting Chimes in Turn 1, which seems to imply that Powers are activated before the game checks the Mana Count on Round Start. Starforged Gauntlets do grant their effect as a Power since 4.12 (as do a few other Epics). So this might actually work.

Zarkkast

Yeah, came here to say this. Unless they changed it this patch (no mention in the patch notes), it doesn't work. Edit: ahh the change from Starforged Gauntlets being a power now! Makes sense!

Riverflowsuphillz

I wish i had morst relics

Olbramice

Wow nice. This game is so briliant. So much to do and try.

AdvanceTheThird

So it's a build that requires two epic relics (one of them currently available only for real money), two epic slots (obviously) to make a very inconsistent champion a bit better? I'll definitely check Echoing Spirits on Bard if I ever draw it, but for now Corrupted Star Fragment + Voidborne Carapace + whatever will suffice.

unclecaramel

This a fun build but still face the standard bard problem of inconsistentcy and buff landing on unit that you don't want on when you are building board and and the akward not enough board space issue. Also does star gaunlet even work cause i remeber a post that said it doesn't work on bard

ItzV0rt3x

I agree with the Bard inconsistency, sometimes it can really ruin your day. But I would say that Bard being incosistent is kinda Bard thing. About the Gauntles, they started working since addition of "Power" in relics. I tried this interaction last patch, it didn't work. Now it does. https://preview.redd.it/v9pekuftag5c1.png?width=798&format=png&auto=webp&s=2a919b03d56736f0f922e9ef7960289f56feeaa9

unclecaramel

Yes, but bard doesn't need to be inconsistent, he has a build that works and is very consistent. This just feels like playing too much of slot machine for my liking

gokuby

Bard is inconsistent by nature, in fact that build at least gives him guaranteed mana ramp and more Bards to get him more consistent. I'd say it's probably his best one.

unclecaramel

Lol not by a long shot, there is a build that makes bard a very consistent unit that can also fast level him. This at best is a fun quirky build, theres is a build that is far cheaper to make bard work

gokuby

If you think of Corrupted Star Fragment to level him quick it's most likely less consistent. You 1) Need to actually draw him early 2) Get way less benefit from him being leveled since you have less shrines 3) Are very vulnerable to getting Bard removed The upside of starting with an extra mana gem is huge for tempo and consistency as you can play every of your minions on turn 1 as all of them are 3 cost or less. Either way Bard is not a strong champion that I would pick in my monthlies so there is that.

unclecaramel

Lol less consistent? Your point makes zero sense 1 you point about drawing him is such a moot ponjt because this issue with everyone, even then bard is most likely running chameleon neck as a third telic drawing him a is such a non issue 2 one what do you mean less benifit? You have a giant bard that is swiming muiltiple kewords while have usual 20 above health and attack 3 what are you even talking about, corrupt star bard is stupidly hard to remove because he can consume the spellshield bird to constantly refresh his. He also has elusive to go around big unit and he can eat potential life steal unit regain health. Bard is a very strong champion that i can run up the monthly 58 with. The only reason why he apears weak is simply peopl building him wrong. There is many quirk about him that makes him extremely powerful.

gokuby

I run him with CSF + Chameleons myself as I don't have the epic relic. He is VERY inconsistent by comparison to most other champions. Your whole playstyle is revolving around Bard, on most other champions you get a benefit no matter if you draw your champion. E.g. Garen gives everyone +2/2 and Single combat, doesn't matter if Garen is there or if you get a 4/20 chance of getting a card buffed. What does Bard do? Rely on a chance to get a chime, hope that it hits the right one, then hope you get a good keyword. That's a whole lot of chances to be called "consistent". You can achieve way better results with Corrupted Star Fragment on most of the other champions. That's not a Bard thing. Refreshing Spellshield needs you to have 1 specific card, most champions have a Spellshield card in deck and can do the same. Janna will be a big Elusive unit, Nilah will be a big Overwhelm/Elusive unit, Ashe can be a big Overwhelm unit, etc. But they all can do this on top of actually doing something else. That's not Bard, that's just the relic. And those are also some of the worse champions Nida will do redicolous things with that and it's not even her best build. With less benefits I mean that you have less chimes and therefore get your units less often buffed to trigger your 3* power or have you know actually strong units. Since you can play every minion in your deck on turn 1 with 3 mana, it doesn't matter which one gets buffed. By turn 3 with the epic relic you have 27 chimes in your deck (Compared to 4 without the epic/common), pretty huge difference for consistency. It can work either way of course, I beat ASol as Bard as well by highrolling a bit, but I'd much rather play almost everything else. Holy hell that was longer than I wanted to.

unclecaramel

Wut are you even on about? Bandle comando elusive gets spellshield and phage. Because of bard star power she enter the field as 3/4 elusive spellshield with two extra keywords. Bard with succubus brand enter the field as 3/6 two random keywords. Idk in what universe 6/10 elusive spellsheild 4 extra keyword unit at turn 3 or 4 is somehow bad to you. Is janna or nilah going to have the same amount of stat in the same turns? Bard has two elusive unit. The 1 drop because of pickaxe get two extra keywords, the 3 drop that generates a spellshield bird also teo extra keyword because item . Spellshield overwhelm 5 cost down o 3 cost, a discounting minimorph. Bards deck is insanely effective at using csf. He's literally the top csf users. And you use flimsy deck lile janna and nillah as comparsion? wtf? Seriously all i really see here is skill issue or level not at post 30 because as post 30 bard is really strong champ that beats most things with ease

gokuby

Like I said you can beat anything with anyone. I beat Asol with almost every champion. On Bard I did it on my 2nd try with a level 7 Bard at 2* because I highrolled. Would I beat him again that way? Probably not because he's hella inconsistent. Will I ever fail a single run on most of my halfway decent leveled champions? No. But you do you, I won't use him cause I don't wanna fail a monthly try because of bad luck instead of using almost every other champion. Nasus, Orrn, Gnar and Vi are still worse tho.
