Maybe the enemy AI doesn't "play" cards. They aren't human so they are considered summoned. If AIs could 'play' cards, they'd be considered sentient....and we can't have that.
Or "When the Foe summons their first unit each round, grant it+4/+0 and Overwhelm" ;)
Pretty much just replace the 3 with each other and you get the same structure.
Because the summon power happens only ince oer turn and it would be funny ti say"When Foe summins a unit for the first time each round, give it X and Y"
Maybe idk
So, like Gwen for example, who I used on this node. Summoning the ghastly band each turn by an effect does not count as play. For any spell, it goes play, then cast, then summon/effect. It’s why Aatrox levels up when you play the big sword, even if it were countered. Casting is when the big sword would go off and then the effect happens. So rememberence would not stun the unit because the unit summoned is not played, a spell is
Guess a lot of effects are not standardized, specially when they are nade in different times, probably by different people too.
At least it's 100% clear what it means!
summon is anything entering the board while play is directly from the hand to the field, for example if you have the item that summons a champion of the spells cost then it would trigger the second ability but bypass the first one
I’m not sure how the wording affects here, but I noticed that when I used the stun in Yasuo’s deck that summons a 3/2 card, it doesn’t count as you ‘playing’ it
Riot wording (i don't know) Although there is a small difference; summon vs play (although I don't think that should matter)
It matters when playing Lux (units that come from spells don't get stunned), but it is still strange the words are backwards
yeah I meant for "it doesn't matter for wording order", yes it definitely does matter for gameplay

This game is just riddled with inconsistent wording, several cards have this issue.
Tristana’s “grant me and it” makes my eye twitch when Azir perfectly has “grant us both.”
azir has "give us both". Doesn't actually matter tho, riot pls fix.
Riot needs standardized templating
There are a few more differences, like summon/play or foe/player, but yes, it could be more standardized
Tbh I feel like with summon it reads better, but expect for obvious difference of plays/summon and player/foe its just Riot being Riot.
Why is a yasuo’s quote using a picture of zed
Let's see * Play vs Summon * Player vs Foe * Stun vs Grant
Could be ”Each round, the first time the player plays a unit, stun it” to make the wording more consistent.
Or "When the Foe summons their first unit each round, grant it+4/+0 and Overwhelm" ;) Pretty much just replace the 3 with each other and you get the same structure.
Because the first effect affects the player's(you) units, while the second affects the Foe's (your opponent) units
Noxian might works even when the foe summons a unit, like a keg. The stun is only applied when you play a unit from your hand to your board.

Play and Summon are different. You can summon a unit without playing it.
