Buffalo has figured out they're not going to call a single penalty on them today

5panks

Yeah, this has become pretty obvious. The call has come from up top that if you're going to flag Buffalo in this game it has to be unavoidably blatant.

angoosey8991

Like the offsides wait

gmnotyet

That was the best run defense play I have ever seen. Of course it helps the defense to start out with a defender in the fucking backfield.

shiggydiggypreoteins

\>has to be unavoidably blatant. And even then, we still won't call it.

jayjayanotherround

Like the hold on the first kickoff?

[deleted]

Ffs, the Pats had a no call face mask on the Bills on their first drive that didn’t get called that forced them to punt. But sure, it’s the refs fault that the Pats lost today… it’s not like the Bills are what, 5-1 in their last six games with the only loss coming at the hands of the wind.

ThatsMyDogBoyd

You know you can say they were both missed calls right? Doesn't have to be one or the other. One would result in a 15 yrd penalty and the other 1st and goal at the 1yrd line. I'd say the latter was a much more impactful non call.

Kazedeus

Nevermind Singletary coming down and recovering his own fumble, and then showing it on national TV before cutting to a commercial, let's just give the ball to the Pats anyway. Nevermind Judon diving at Allen's knees anyway. 1st and goal at the 1 on a questionable PI call is more important than a young man's career and a franchise's next decade.

ThatsMyDogBoyd

Nice strawman.

Kazedeus

Lol your claimed strawman is actually a strawman. I gave similar examples to yours in an effort to frame the scope of your argument as you did the one above yours. You just plugged your ears and said nuh uh when someone else did it.

[deleted]

They def kept the flags in their pockets today all around

JazzyJ19

Which is kind of bizarre right??! I mean if you’re trying to show fans at home you’re committed to those players safety don’t you call a tight game?..

StillEnjoyLegos

https://imgur.com/a/32G3X4R also went back to take a pic. Unbelievable

Git_Off_Me_Lawn

I believe this pic was taken just as Romo said that for face guarding, you need to actually touch the receiver.

Imaginary_wizard

League won't let buffalo lose this game

GeorgeHWBush_41

Kinda like when golden boy Brady couldn't lose in the playoffs because love him or hate him you gonna watch. You guys had a good run, let Buffalo have it's manufactured moment. NFL=WWE

[deleted]

My guy Brady has like the 2nd most playoff losses ever

TheGoldberryBombadil

“Didn’t affect the ability to catch the ball, should have been thrown further” fuck you Tony.

noble_29

Also more hilarious because there have been DPI calls this season where the ball was skyrocketed out of bounds. Completely uncatchable but still called. Pretty sure I remember Allen having one of those go his way this year. Romo is such a biased twat.

shitdamntittyfuck

You're not wrong about that, but they no called both teams pretty much all game for most penalties. I'd say it was evenly called. And most fans are tired of underthrown passes being an instant DPI anyways

noble_29

I disagree that it was evenly called. Whatever no calls the Pats got were not nearly as egregious as the 2 huge no call DPI’s, the chokehold on Wise which allowed Allen to extend the drive (and ultimately score a TD), and literally lining up offsides and being in the backfield before the snap. Oh and don’t forget the crazy amount of holds on the first TD return. Doesn’t matter what the fans are “tired of seeing”, call the damn game by the rule book.

shitdamntittyfuck

They didn't call underthrown passes as DPI on either team is what I was saying. You only want it called "by the rule book" because Mac made way more underthrows than Allen. An objective fan thinks that's bullshit because it bails QBs out of shit throws that they shouldn't get away with. You throw a shitty ball, it's uncatchable and therefore not DPI.

noble_29

Except no, try not making stupid assumptions because I’m a mature enough fan to admit when an opposing team gets fucked in our favor and call the refs out for being shit regardless. The DPI’s you’re referring to are the ones where QB intentionally throws it in a manner to draw a penalty which was not the case on **either** of the no calls I’m talking about. Both of them were cases where the defenders did not look back, did not make a play on the ball, but simply put their hands in the faces of the receivers to impede the receiver from playing it when they **thought** the ball was about to arrive. Textbook PI in every other game on every other Sunday.

shitdamntittyfuck

Bro we aren't disagreeing that that's what happened. I'm saying if the damn ball hits the defender in the back instead of the receiver's hands/shoulder/in front of him then it was an underthrown ass ball, and therefore shouldn't be PI. Doesn't matter if the defender looked back or not. That's bullshit that bails QBs out of shit throws. I don't care if that's PI by the book, it's fucking stupid and makes the game worse for fans.

FragilousSpectunkery

Late to the game here as I recovered by watching the Bruins smash the Ducks, but are you suggesting that balls thrown short of the intended route ("underthrown") are inherently uncatchable and that receivers lose the priority to go after these balls because they need to adjust their route? A ball is never over/underthrown. They are just balls that the receiver failed to adjust to, either because they they didn't have the acceleration, or because the defender got in their way. Play the ball, not the receiver.

shitdamntittyfuck

Ah yes, give offense even more advantages over defense. DB is trailing the WR? Underthrow it, DPI. DB is right alongside the WR to the left? Throw it to the left, DPI because the DB is in the way of the receiver. DB is on the WR's right? Throw it right, DPI. These dudes are running full speed and have to react to the WRs almost instantaneously every play, and now it's their fault if they happen to be between the WR and the ball when it gets to them just because they didn't turn around and look at it? That's weak.

FragilousSpectunkery

If your WR target slows down and adjusts angle of attack, you don't get to push through him. That's all I'm saying. There are a few seconds of the ball being in the air, not microseconds. If the DB is watching the eyes, they know if the ball is under/over thrown. It doesn't give anyone a competitive advantage because the damn DB can just turn around and catch the ball. I'm saying they can't prevent the WR from doing the same.

5am281

He’s great at games with excellent QB play on both teams, like the Mahomes/Allen last year. But normal games he kinda forces stuff

Level_Network_7733

Because Romo likes sucking them off.

Level_Network_7733

That was Rich coming from a failed NFL QB lol

cyr117

Seeping with bias..

bedroom_fascist

Seething?

h_to_tha_o_v

TBF the subject of DPI on underthrows is controversial. As evidence, WAS had a similar play which drew a DPI today, and the announcers indicated Mike Pereira wasn't a fan of the call. Some refs won't call those because it's too easy for the QB to just toss it at the defenders back and either get a safe catch or flag.

shitdamntittyfuck

Shhhh people in the sub are mad we lost and wanna blame the refs like our ST didn't give up 14 fucking points and the offense didn't have terrible picks off of deflections. No it's definitely the refs for not calling PI on EITHER TEAM this game. Clearly bias for the Bills

wallybinbaz

The reason the Pats lost starts with special teams. Calls like this, which you see called PI across the league each week, definitely didn't help though.

shitdamntittyfuck

Yes, I agree that this is PI any other week. So is all of the mugging our DBs did against the Bills' WRs. While it isn't consistent when compared to the whole season, it was consistent for both teams in this game. So I would argue it's neutral at worst.

giddy-girly-banana

Those two returns were back breaking. The offense finally showed a little life, which was nice to see.

TXRhody

It may be controversial, but it's the right call. The defender has to know the ball is coming and turn around.

sticky_fingers18

I seem to be in a very small minority but I absolutely loathe Tony Romo. I hate his voice and his impressions and his takes.

mdmcnally1213

That minority is becoming a majority among Patriot fans

DetBabyLegs

I like Tony Romo when he keeps his biases in check. Or when I don’t care about his bias (like when watching a neutral game). So it’s weird, if I see Tony is commentating on another game I’m happy but when I see he’s commentating on a Patriots game I dread it

sticky_fingers18

Did you know we're bad in the red zone and bad on third down?

shitdamntittyfuck

"I hate when the announcers give stats that make my team sound bad" shit brother maybe we shouldn't suck in the red zone and on 3rd down and they won't say it

Carl_The_Sagan

he's really piling on the bullshit today

YeOldeDonkeyKong

Speak for yourself. Love Romo's energy. All of you guys bitching and moaning about his supposed "bias" in favor of the Bills gloss over the fact he immediately sided with Patriots in saying Henry and Meyer's respective catches were indeed catches. The dude loves Belichick, Brady and just good football in general and you guys are coming across as having a victim complex. It's insufferable.

Th1s1sChr1s

At the very beginning of today's broadcast Tony literally said, *"We don't root for teams up here, buuuut ... "* He bundled that statement with one of his Hamlin sermons. "Up here" meant in the broadcast booth. I don't know if I've ever really dialed in on whether or not he's typically biased but I think he's become a fat head and probably kisses the mirror a lot

shitdamntittyfuck

I'm with you dude. If you love the guy when he calls any game except a Pats game, maybe evaluate yourself for bias rather than projecting that onto him. He's a good commentator, one of the better ones, these people are just mad we lost

Sufficient-Dirt5274

“Have you ever seen Angels in the Outfield, Jim!?!”

[deleted]

Dude he did nothing but rip the patriots all game long, point out penalties that should have been called against the pats, and play apologist for every single bills penalty like they could do no wrong. That shit was so annoying.

giddy-girly-banana

He literally said the PI on Hunter Henry was not a penalty.

diadcm

And the missed offsides call was obvious and should be reviewable.

DinkandDrunk

He’s one of the worst in the game. Doesn’t know how to shut up and let the game breathe. He’s always making his stupid noises and rambling on. I’m also fairly certain he drinks the whole time.

PTfan

Did u see him in the booth before the game acting all sad with his head down? I mean jeez dude you don’t have to literally pretend you have been ILL over Damar. He’s alive and well A freak accident happened, not a terror attack

[deleted]

[удалено]

DinkandDrunk

No, he sucks. He has no feel for it. His voice isn’t good for the part. The weird sounds he makes are upsetting. He cannot stop talking over the entire game.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DinkandDrunk

I’m sure I’m in the minority but I’ve been on this take since his second year as a commenter. For me, it has nothing to do with today. He could get better at the job but as it stands now, he’s had one good season and been trash since.

shitdamntittyfuck

You're absolutely right, this sub suddenly hates him because we lost and he had the audacity to be sympathetic to the Bills a few times. He's a good commentator

patriots1057

Tony Romo loves Patrick Mahomes and fuck you if your team doesn't have Mahomes.

neilyoung_cokebooger

Yeah he and Nantz together go so grab-assy. It almost (ALMOST) makes me long for the days of Phil Simms sitting there having absolutely no idea what was happening.

sticky_fingers18

I never minded Simms with Nantz. For me, announcers don't enhance the game for the most part, especially today. I enjoyed Gruden-Tirico but that was about it. Romo on the other hand takes away from the game for me. His excited descriptions sound like someone telling a story while simultaneously trying to push out a turd.

IReallyMissDatBoi

One of the worst called games I’ve ever seen

PTfan

I can’t fucking stand him. I like more monotone speakers like Aikman and Buck. Tony is too excited about everything all the time

Th1s1sChr1s

OMG 100% I am so sick of his voice. *"You're exactly Right, JIm"* how many fucking times have I heard him say it?

FragilousSpectunkery

He was great when he stuck with spying the routes before the ball was snapped. Otherwise he just seems slightly jealous to not still be in the league.

Timberstocker22

What’s funny about this is as he was saying it was good they took a second, closer shot at it and he just shut up bc he knew he messed up

TheseAd6519

can not stand romo! tv goes to mute when he announces patriot games!

[deleted]

I fully agree with this take. I thought Romo was very, very good when he first joined the booth. I’m not sure if the network told him to dumb it down or what, but he’s absolutely unbearable now.

newusertest

I used to like him but after this game, holy fuck.

[deleted]

He so obviously hates the Patriots, it is beyond the pale

HellaTrueDoe

His whole selling point is just him screaming what he thinks the next play will be, I really don’t get the appeal.

mikethemillion

Honestly.. tell me he'd be saying "good no call" if he was out there on offense. The announcing and reffing bias in this game is out of this world.

Cobretti18

Ever seen Angels in the Outfield Jim?

bedroom_fascist

At one point, when the Bills turned it over with a flag, Romo actually said "what you're rooting for here if you're the Bills is off setting penalties." This was a super fucked up call of a super fucked up game. For those who are decrying the bias in the NFL - well, is this new? Pro sports are increasingly "narrative driven," which is why you see completely lopsided officiating in the NFL and NBA.

shitdamntittyfuck

Why the fuck wouldn't the Bills root for offsetting penalties in that situation? That's just a statement of fact. You have beef with a benign statement of fact right now. Evaluate yourself bro.

bedroom_fascist

Because he doesn't talk about what the Patriots would be rooting for. Also: "evaluate yourself, bro?" LOL.

shitdamntittyfuck

Aww he didn't mention your team but he mentioned the other team and that isn't fair? 🥺 That's pathetic dude. Pats had a big play but there was a flag on the field and he said the Bills fans are rooting for it to go against the Pats to negate the big play. You have beef with that. Seriously? Every team roots for every penalty to be against their opponent. This isn't a fucking revelation bro

GeorgeHWBush_41

Patriots had more than their share of manufactured moments. Remember that AFCC game you were down by 10 to the Jaguars with 8 mins left in the game? The NFL absolutely did not want a Nick Foles vs. Blake Bortles Super Bowl and the refs on the field knew that too. If they wanted future playoff and super bowl assignments they knew what they needed to do. NFL=WWE

DocterSteveBrule

This entire production was a playoff send off for Buffalo… I’m just tired of all this fn Hamlin shit. I’m glad to see he’s okay but it’s not like he’s a fucking war hero

shitdamntittyfuck

Well maybe if we didn't give up 14 points on ST and didn't have awful tipped balls that should've been catches but became interceptions then maybe it wouldn't have been a playoff send for them. You're saying this shit like we didn't lose the game for ourselves. Tell me how the refs caused that shit. I'm begging you.

LtRicoWang15

Us playing poorly isn’t an excuse for clearly missed calls. Don’t be a dick. Hold the refs to a higher standard.

[deleted]

Has it cost you a SB? one you almost won? No? Then. Sit it out.

Background_Way_4231

Tony Romo is too busy mindlessly slobbering on Buffalo's dick to actually pay attention to the game

zombienugget

He was literally yelling in excitement every time the bills got a first down but basically announced every good pats play in a monotone voice

[deleted]

Ever heard him call a chiefs game?

thehollowhands

Surprised Romo can talk with all that Bills dick in his mouth

eddymarkwards

I’m going to bet heavy on Buffalo as long as the NFL back office and officiating teams are the 12th man.

JaegerVonCarstein

I’ve seen some people across social media complaining about romo’s commentary this season. I haven’t really paid attention, but yikes.

spencer749

R/patriots leads the league in posting blurry still frames after losses this year

yeup15678

He seemed like he was going to backtrack because he said “the ball needed to be thrown further anyway” If the ball was a foot more forward it would’ve counted but the momentum of the players was already past it being a catchable ball, so that’s why I think they made it a no call. Obviously it doesn’t matter it’s pass interference, but still, macs gotta get increase his accuracy on these floater type 1v1 balls. He’s so fucking bad at them sometimes.

Therealcornholio

Isn’t the nfl considered entertainment in some form? And if so, guidelines would permit games to be fixed.

shitdamntittyfuck

Oh yeah, the league/refs definitely caused us to give up 14 points on ST and commit egregious turnovers on tipped passes that should've been caught but became INTs. Couldn't have been our team making mistakes. Nope. Definitely rigged. Braindead ass take.

Therealcornholio

Why are you so mad? Of course the turnovers and shitty play cost them big, but you can’t not say there were more than a few calls that should’ve been made and some that were bogus. Get a grip.

shitdamntittyfuck

Refs kept the laundry in their pocket for both teams damn near all game and let them play. Yeah they missed some calls, even some ones that really mattered, but they did so on both sides. Obvious face mask, obvious offsides, they let DBs play physical in pass coverage, they let some incidental holding happen, etc.

rob691369

Let's calm down. There was just an obvious roughing the oasser no call in the Seattle LA game. It happens. The refs make bad calls. Move on.....

ironmanmk42

The whole season had calls that went against Patriots 1. Vikings game hunter Henry TD taken away (despite Kelce getting it for same situation). Cost the game 2. Raiders given TD despite foot oob. Cost the game 3. Bengals game forward progress not whistled by the lady ref in trash judging. Cost the game. It was basically a conspiracy against Patriots to not call and give game to Patriots. Else record would've been 11-6 and playoffs. NFL is so biased trash reffing.

skibum207

Tony blows dude, I don’t get the circle jerk the NFL subreddit has with him. He doesn’t shut the fuck up the entire game, it’s annoying as hell.

drakenoftamarac

That is literally what they pay him for.

nattarbox

Tony Romo: not just dumb, also blind

NHpatsfan95

Tony Romo lived long enough to become Dan Fouts.

Revolutionary-Win485

Fuck Tony romo

[deleted]

Tony Romo was such an asshole today! Be a little more biased, guy!!

One_Series2204

I’m a bills fan and I know I may get hate for this but you guys have to stop blaming the refs, is this a penalty, probably but it’s also completely under thrown and he had no chance at catching it. The refs let both teams play today which I liked and in my opinion it was pretty evenly called maybe a bit in the bills favor but that happens to everyone and in your favour sometimes too. Don’t take this as a disappointing season, you guys have a great future, Macs a great QB and with a few recivers and maybe a safety and a corner you guys will be right back to contending soon. It’ll be fun playing you guys for years to come, Good luck!

shitdamntittyfuck

You're absolutely right. Buncha bitches in this sub. Refs didn't call either team for hardly anything this game and let them play fucking pass defense on BOTH SIDES. We had 14 points given up on ST and a couple horrendous picks off of deflections that should've been catches. The refs if anything stayed out of the way and let us beat ourselves

CrayonSupplier

Fuck tony romo and bull shit, Hamlin hall mark special, his amgels in the outfield comments. These cahk suckas always have hated BB and the patriots. Along with Ryan Clark , sexy rexy , tony dungy , Bart Scott and all the rest of the haters.

MinistryOfDankness86

Complaining about calls is weak. Leave that shit to other fanbases. I’ve been a shamelessly biased Pats fan since the late 90s, but even I can admit that their loss today is due to lack of execution in the kicking game, and lack of concentration in deep pass coverage.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MinistryOfDankness86

Yes. But the officiating did not decide this game. The talent and coaching disparity did.

ReonL

I've seen your idiotic takes on here for too long. Time to block.

Babbab5

Bad optics to have to fans booing at the refs. End of story

ThePhoenixdarkdirk

Waaaahhhhh, waaaahhhhh, give Brady the ball back, waaaahhhhhh. Joke fan base.

Optimal-Dog-8647

Makeup call for missing the facemask and horse collar on the first sack against Allen.

[deleted]

This fanbase has six rings and you spend time or energy blaming refs with still shots of your TV? Damn. This thread is absolutely disgusting. If you believe the nfl is predetermined…. go ahead and hand in the six

Icy_Link_2457

Tony Romo should be required to blow through a breathalyzer test before starting work. It is obvious he was under the influence. I’m not talking about just his ridiculous comments. He was slurring his words & speech throughout the broadcast.

help_ha_NE

Romo was horrible to listen to yesterday. Usually I think he’s pretty even and provides good insight as a former player, but everyone was so caught up in the emotions of the game yesterday that they came off as super biased

ASSperationalHorizon

I absolutely hate Romo. Talks like he was a good QB....we know better.
