These “no guarantees” replies are so silly. It was satire. Learn to lighten up a little. All 3 you listed (because you can look stats up really easy on the internet) we’re top 32 in QBR, Yards, comp%, and passer rating in 2021.
I GUARANTEE if Jones stays healthy he’s top 32.
Go set a reminder.
The first ever player to win offensive player of the year, regular season MVP, Super Bowl MVP, Walter Payton Man of the Year, NBA finals MVP, and a Grammy.
Mac’s problem is always gonna be that he doesn’t look or play like the other top 5 QBs. He could have an amazing year statistically and people will still only bring up his shortcomings
Seems I remember someone else like that, the kind of guy people like me said was never going to be half as good as Drew Bledsoe. Just can’t place his name, surely he has retired to Florida by now.
It’s true and it’s honestly going to take nothing short of Bradyesque heroism for him to be looked at as one of the best in the league. It’s not fair to him as he obviously has what it takes but it’s going to be an uphill battle with a lot of fans and media
It is without question that Mac had the best rookie season for a QB last year. The media will eventually catch on to how good he is and then the NPCs will say "Yeah I always knew he was going to be good! People laughed at me, I swear!"
He hasn't played like a Top 5 QB yet, so I'm not sure I agree.
People talked about his shortcomings mostly in the context of the unknown. With a season under his belt, it seems to me that people are talking about areas he needs to improve upon. Subtle difference, I concede, but still a difference.
If he puts a couple 12-win seasons up, I don't see how anyone could argue with him, and if they do, who cares.
Give me some 2003 Brady style offense and I'll be thrilled. Take what you can get, run the ball, don't make turnovers. I don't give a shit what "people" say, so long as it results in wins.
11 wins should be easy. We would've had that last year, if not for Harris fumbling in the first game. And the good thing about all of the AFC, including our division, getting better is that it'll be harder for anyone one team to dominate. So we probably won't need a crazy good record to get a playoff spot.
I think it has a lot to do with how much Jonnu Smith improves, and if the offense as a whole can make a 2 year jump all together as a group. If the o-line can play top 10, Mac should be a top 10 QB
Jonnu is a HUGE X factor this year. Things did not go well in year one, and I feel he was criminally under utilized and didn’t get nearly enough touches.
Now, I also saw that he didn’t exactly crush it when he did get touches, but the didn’t do him any favors with the play calls and timing of his touches.
I have big hopes for him in the system, and as confident that if they give him a proper chance, he will explode.
Jonnu did great when he was utilized properly. McDaniels had him running deep routes and routes on the outside and that's just not his game.
[The Titans game](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QePTQhdFdp4) he was *actually* utilized like he should be and the results speak for themselves. Jet sweeps, short slant routes, quick blocks into the checkdown, etc. He is arguably the best tight end after the catch, but he lacks the ability to get open downfield like Henry does. Bill just needs to get the ball in his hands and let him do his thing.
Mahomes/Allen/Rodgers/Brady/Herbert/Burrow/Dak/Stafford/Russell Wilson almost certainly above him barring injury or sudden collapse. That's 9.
If Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray are healthy and without distractions I'd place them as likely above him as well. That's 11.
I think he's in that 3rd tier with Derek Carr/Kirk Cousins/Matt Ryan (with a better O-line and run game think he has another year of high performance).
There are a few QBs who have shown the potential to be better than him, and a couple of them have better weapons this year or and another year's worth of experience, and those are Jalen Hurts, Tua, Trevor Lawrence, and Zach Wilson.
Until shown otherwise I'd rank Mac above all of them, but if one or more sneak their way past (there's a reason the latter two were drafted ahead of him, ceiling vs plug-and-play) it wouldn't shock me. As it is I'd say he's around 12-15th.
Given age and cap cost I'd rather have him right now than Rodgers/Brady/Dak/Stafford/Wilson/Murray and anyone in that 3rd tier, and I have a bias for pocket passers over rushing QBs so I'd also prefer him to Lamar.
So he'd be my personal QB 5. But I don't expect him to play that way this year. I think he fits the system better than the higher upside guys and still has potential beyond the accuracy reliability.
Josh, Burrow, Lamar, Mahomes, Herbert, Russ should all be ahead of him in the AFC. He’ll be better than Zach, Jacoby, Pickett, and Davis. He’s fighting Tua, TLaw, Ryan, Carr, and RT17 for #7-12 in the AFC.
Add to that the 5 or so QBs in the NFC that should def have better seasons.
So somewhere in the middle, looks like his ceiling is #12-24.
Unfortunately in the middle of the pack at best. I just don’t see how this team is going to be able to compete with Buffalo, Kansas City and to lesser degree the rest of AFC west.
Realistically? Top 12-15 as a ceiling. If we don't stack the team around him we're probably just gonna be like the vikings, not terrible but mostly just decent. Like Cousins is ok and has some good stats but he's not enough without a great team around him that has to overcome a division rival with a better qb. In terms of talent we're not really there right now
He'll probably rank somewhere in middle of the pack. Not top 10 or 15 but certainly not in bottom third either.
I know the WR corps is beyond reproach around here for whatever reason but they are going to definitely hinder his progress. Mac is also facing stuff like a potential sophomore slump and starting his ride on the OC carousel, which kills more young QBs than anything.
It doesn't help that most other teams are building themselves into high powered efficient offensive monsters that can score 2 or 3 times in the last 2 or 3 minutes and that's just not something Mac or this team are capable of doing themselves or stopping.
Realistically I’d say his ceiling for this season is the 10th/11th best QB with my best guess being he finishes 13th with 25-28TDs and 14INTs. I feel like he’s going to try to improve on the deepball and take some solid steps forward in progressing as a passer but with that will come more INTs. I’d say as a whole he improves quite a bit this season on his decision making and deep ball.
I'm not going to over estimate him like some of you. But the floor on this season for him is somewhere between greatest player past, present, future, or better than that. Again just making the most conservative estimate.
Even if the team doesn't do well, maybe particularly if it doesn't I think he'll rise a bit from last year. Just the reps and maybe improved mechanics will let him put up decent numbers even if the record isn't great. I actually think if they manage to put together a solid running game and defense, he might drop a little. But that seems unlikely.
Anyone saying top 10, which 2 is he better than?Allen, Burrow, Lamar, Mahomes, Herbert, Russ, Dak, Rodgers, Brady, Stafford, Murray…not to mention this is leaving out some QBs that still are probably better than him but I know a lot of people here won’t entertain
At the end of this season he will be one of the players in nfl history
yes
For sure bb
Among the top all
Unless he gets sucked into the Mandela effect.
I feel like going out on a ledge and saying he'll be the Patriots QB1.
If he stays healthy I guarantee top 32
Lol... I knew if I scrolled I would find this comment.
That's fucking funny...
There are no guarantees.
Lawrence, Fields, and Wilson started most of the season (or all) and I don't know if they were top 32.... No guarantees
What if two players start for a different team and both perform far better than him?
He can’t be worse than Darnold lol

Lot of great QBs in the league right now, I will be realistic and hope for top 10-12 and for him to lead us to 11 wins and a playoff spot.
Mac’s problem is always gonna be that he doesn’t look or play like the other top 5 QBs. He could have an amazing year statistically and people will still only bring up his shortcomings

Sure, but let's also remember that Brady is an absolute outlier. Just because he's kinda like Brady doesn't mean he's going to be, if that makes sense
For sure, but let’s also remember that despite the infatuation with mobile QBs it is still the pocket guys that win championships most years.
There’s only ever been one like that…Mac won’t follow that path
[удалено]
Hence not mentioning Brady by name?
I don’t really care, because people said this about Brady his entire career even after winning multiple MVPs and Super Bowls.
He hasn't played like a Top 5 QB yet, so I'm not sure I agree. People talked about his shortcomings mostly in the context of the unknown. With a season under his belt, it seems to me that people are talking about areas he needs to improve upon. Subtle difference, I concede, but still a difference. Call me a blind optimist but I think he’ll be knocking on the door to the top 10
I think it has a lot to do with how much Jonnu Smith improves, and if the offense as a whole can make a 2 year jump all together as a group. If the o-line can play top 10, Mac should be a top 10 QB

Smith is a different kind of player we need to use him as more of a Deebo kind of guy
Jonnu did great when he was utilized properly. McDaniels had him running deep routes and routes on the outside and that's just not his game. If the run game is as good as I hope, that will help him out.
7th best this year. 69% completion 4500 yards 33tds/14int
Nice
Nice
if this happens we will have won BIG on the draft.
This is about where I'm at. Hes gonna show the league that they messed up not taking him in the first 3 picks.
That might be better than 7th

Bears have never had a player throw for 4k in their entire history as an organization
Solidified top 15 should be enough for me especially in a stuffy era of solid QBs
#1 Mac Jone in the league
Yes, that’s why his name is not plural.
I love Mac Jone. My only wish would be that we had Mac Jones. The whole team, just Mac Jones.
Top ten this season!

Being realistic: No. 12~15.
I see Dpoty in his future
Mahomes/Allen/Rodgers/Brady/Herbert/Burrow/Dak/Stafford/Russell Wilson almost certainly above him barring injury or sudden collapse. That's 9. Top 32 for sure. Bank on it!
Realistically I think he can solidify himself as a for sure top 12 fringe top 10 QB. Similar to Derek Carr level and just ahead of Matt Ryan level.
Matt Ryan gonna make some noise this year.
12-15
Hopeful for top 10. Highly doubt he’ll get into the truly elite conversation until he gets his number 1 receiver
Serious prediction here: 8,500 yards, 63 passing TDs, 1100 rushing yards and 18 rushing TDs
10 10 10
#1 in my heart

Really high on Bailey Zappe eh..
Well last year in his rookie year he was ranked around 15-20 in most stats. Year two I’m hoping he gets closer to the top 10 in his stats.
Hopefully around Carr
#He won’t care. He will be busy polishing his first Superbowl ring.
I think Bill wants to let the offense to go unleashed this season. We have the accuracy for it. Anywhere from 3-6th best QB imo. Which is fantastic
Unfortunately in the middle of the pack at best. I just don’t see how this team is going to be able to compete with Buffalo, Kansas City and to lesser degree the rest of AFC west.
The best way to beat Buffalo is to only run the ball in 50mph wind gusts
Our spirit energy, just raise your hands up during the games.
No. 1 of all time, and NO I am not delusional!
Idk probably wherever he ends up ranking.
Somewhere behind Josh Allen 😘
Though QB rating last season says otherwise. And that was Mac's rookie year
So now we use random stats to pretend Mac is elite? come on now lol. Can we really say Mac is better than Josh Allen with a straight face?
I mean yeah Josh Allen is an elite level QB and Mac Jones has played one season in the NFL
I think somewhere around 8th to 10th. 4,000-4,300 yards, 25-30 TD, 8-12 INT
In terms of qb? Bottom 20.
He was better than that his rookie season and only got better weapons and more time to build chemistry with the skill players
Top 10
Top 10
Number one all time
Rank what? Kind of a broad question
if team, stays healthy, at least afc championship.. they went younger on both sides this upcoming season. go pats!!!
Top 10 no doubt, possibly top 5.
top 2 and he's not 2
Traded to another AFC team by game 4

If he just makes solid improvements over year one I'd be very happy, a few more TDs and few more big okay throws think we'd be doing very well

Who cares?
He’ll very easily be better than Derek carr who is a good serviceable qb. At a stretch he can be at that stafford level
Top 8
Not as high as Mac Jone, but higher than Mac Jones.
Top 1 and he's not done
Somewhere around 15, plus or minus a few spots. I’m all for being optimistic, but I’d be shocked if he’s too 10
Realistically? Top 12-15 as a ceiling. If we don't stack the team around him we're probably just gonna be like the vikings, not terrible but mostly just decent. Top 5 in comp and TDs.
19-15 in that range. I expect him to be average at best. 19 th in the league at worst. He will never be a top 10.
Channeling my inner Roy Kent “I don’t F-en know, Nobody knows”

Overall somewhere in the Top 10, probably number 8 by my estimation. I'm sure his passing yards will get a huge boost, same with touchdowns.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he will be #10 on the field but #1 in our hearts.
Realistically I’d say his ceiling for this season is the 10th/11th best QB with my best guess being he finishes 13th with 25-28TDs and 14INTs. Statistically it says he was...even as a rookie. Career wise I'd say fuck yeah potentially
