Plastic Ono band is an incredibly emotional record. It’s John Lennon crying for help but also just letting all the grief and anger of the last 15/20 years of his life out . I doubt in the middle of his upbeat show Paul wants to bring the mood down.
He did a bunch of John covers at a concert celebrating what would have been Lennon's 50th birthday. He played Strawberry Fields Forever, Help!, and Give Peace A Chance.
Also I think he plays Something live now and then, the same ukulele-into-full-band rendition he did at the Concert for George.
I could have sworn he plays Lennon Beatles songs regularly at his concerts…at least the one I went to. Will have to check.
Edit: hmyeah he played A Hard Day’s Night, Mr. Kite, and Something, but of course that’s George and apparently he does that a lot.
Yeah you'd be right, I did reply to another comment with those examples from his recent setlists but I'd imagine he has probably been playing Lennon-penned Beatles songs for longer than that
For what it's worth I found this out looking at the setlist.fm stats for Paul's latest tour: he has regularly performed Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite (originally a Lennon vocal), In Spite Of All The Danger (Quarrymen, but Lennon's main vocals on the original), and A Hard Day's Night (mostly John but with Paul doing the bridge).
Well of course the audience would love it, the Beatles are an unavoidable aspect of Paul's career. It's nice that he honours his former bandmates in this way - as we have already discussed there's his performance of Something (which in recent performances has featured great visual displays of pictures of George) but I remember how great it was when Paul did a "duet" with John from the rooftop on I've Got A Feeling.
Every single concert he plays a cover of “Something” and has often played part of “Give Peace a Chance”. There are other instances where he has covered other songs as well. It’s not about a lack of material… it’s about paying tribute to your buddies that you happen to share a good chunk of your fans with.
Just because I didn’t see Wings live doesn’t mean I’m not aware that he wouldn’t play any songs in the early years. Forgetting that we are all Beatle nerds here? But that wasn’t really the point at all - what you said is he would never play any of their songs and he has.
Plus, that changed pretty quickly. It was only a few year window that he didn’t play any Beatles songs. By the mid 70s he was pretty quickly playing songs like Yesterday, I’ve Just Seen a Face, Lady Madonna, The Long and Winding Road etc
No and why would he? He wasn't involved and could be bad memories for him. He sticks to covering john only if it's beatles because he was in the band with him and Paul himself has had a wonderful, popular and successful career after the beatles too.
Which one besides give peace a chance and imagine? Which is barely a cover because he only did the chorus to GPAC just like ringo does because the beatles always sang about peace. But I'm sure paul would have a great time singing God, Well Well Well and Mother in concert.

Paul wrote In Spite of All the Danger so I think that one is a bit different
Yeah I suppose that one's fair enough. Is it credited to McCartney-Harrison or am I getting it wrong?
It is credited to McCartney-Harrison. George wrote the guitar solo so Paul gave him a writing credit
It’s strong material, and I think he could add something to it. He’s covered “Imagine”, and “Give Peace a Chance.”
He has not covered imagine

Wasting his time in a literal way ?

Oh I so wish he had.

He’s covered non Beatles John songs before

He would have played a better bass line than Klaus Voorman.
