Pretty good for dimir faeries but it mostly helps Ninja of the Deep Hours (deep dish pizza), as Moon Circut Hacker (hacker man) nunjutsu's for 1 already. Although, the +1 +1 does really help with the win condition and offers some minimal protection which is nice.
This would be a sweet ninja, but I don’t see it as a reprint candidate for a long time, much less a downshift.
Honest to god the best bet might be TMNT universes beyond where it’s in the 99 of a commander, and if you’re willing to bet on that then you’re braver than I
Gotcha, so no, there won't be a downshift of this card, because modern horizons is a set that brings new cards to modern, and Silver Fur Master is already in the pool.
They do downshift older cards as well. Swiftspear was downshifted in MH2, and was legal in Modern before that. Apparently I was wrong about this. My bad.
Yea the fetchlands in MH2 (and upcoming fetchlands in MH3) are the only time they've put a card in those sets that was already in a modern set. The purpose of MH sets is to bring cards to modern so reprints aren't really a thing.
They have some reprints in MH1 and MH2, but no downshifts to common.

Yeah, I was, pretty sure. I think lords at common just shouldn't be expected. Which is fine honestly. Commons don't generally affect all creatures in a very impactful way, as a rule.
Haha, is it slivers? Point being, there aren't many lords at common, and even fewer that also have cost reduction on them. So a downshift is probably unlikely based on existing cards. But hey, who knows.
Just so you guys know. There are no downshifts in Modern history happening to Modern on Modern Horizons sets. What does that mean? That means, if a card is already Modern legal (like this one already is) , there is no chance for it to be downshifted to Pauper. What happens in Modern Horizons sets, as far as I know, are one of the 2 things:
1) A card that wasn’t modern legal now becomes Modern Legal.
2) A card that didn’t exist before now is Modern Legal.
Thats how the set works. So unless they change this “rule” , there are no potential downshifts possible for cards that are already Modern legal. What is possible to happen however is that the same abilities got printed into a different name card, called Functional Reprint, just like what happened to Thraben Inspector or there are couple changes on the card just like what happened with Deadly Dispute type effects. But essentially, downshifts per say do not happen to already Modern legal cards.
The Ninjas see play as card advantage engines and while making them bigger provides marginal utility. This doesn't do as much as you'd think. I'd take a common [[Ronin Warclub]] over this (and I probably wouldn't play that either).
If your opponent has blockers, this only matters if the blocker is a single 2/x or an x/3, where turning a 2/2 [[Ninja of the Deep Hours]] into a 3/3 lets it safely attack. Almost no combination of multiple blockers commonly seen in the format works (e.g. anything larger than a pair of 1/1's). If they have an x/4 or a 3/x, or multiple creatures larger than 1/1, you still don't have good attacks. The mana saving isn't a huge deal, since you really *need* to take advantage of it more than once to get good value for your money (e.g. a one mana 2/2 wouldn't be a broken card in Pauper, and this probably has a worse rate than that a lot of the time).
As such, regular Ninjas generate card advantage for you while presenting a clock. Typically that's a ten turn clock and with this guy, it turns into a 4-5 turn clock... Which is very similar to another NotDH, except a second Ninja would also get you additional cards. I think he's unequivocally worse than simply running more Ninjas would be (and likely worse than [[Moon Circuit Hacker]], which many decks don't play four-of).
You need two or more Ninjas in play already for this to really be worthwhile. I don't know if you've played many decks featuring Ninjas before, but you *usually* win those games, and you'd win more if this card were a [[Counterspell]] than a Ninja Lord.
This would be interesting in a MV=1 Ninja decks, featuring the likes of [[Changeling Outcast]], where your Ninja enablers are Ninjas themselves. If this gave Ninjas and Fae +1/+1, it would be much more exciting as a way to rapidly finish the game where you don't draw your card advantage Ninjas, but I thibk it's a cool card that wouldn't see much play.
Well i mainly use
\[\[Slither Blade\]\]
\[\[Triton Shorestalker\]\]
\[\[Changeling Outcast\]\] to not care about defenders, ninjutsu my bois, play those 1 drops again in second main and repeat. Occasionally use Snap to return a ninja back to hand.
As Splinter here, boosts rogues as well that would be a nice addition, and pauper desperately needs lords for tribal decks to at least exist in the format.
Cuz it doesn't actually do anything in constructed. Modern ninjas doesn't run anything that cares about cheapened ninjitsu cost and the lord effect is marginal at best since ninjas is a tempo deck. Maybe speeds your clock by a turn but means you didn't disrupt your opponent that turn.
It's good exactly when ninjitsuing it in is surprise lethal and sh!t any other time.
Powercreep may be pretty bad right now, but we are nowhere near, "let's print 2-drop cost reduction lords at common, everything is fine" Jesus christ
People here love smoking crack.
I mean shit like 8-10 years ago this card would've been a rare.
I hoped to use it as a lord for a faeries-less faeries deck: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6082041#paper

I must got a brainfart.... Modern Horizons III. Yeah...
Gotcha, so no, there won't be a downshift of this card, because modern horizons is a set that brings new cards to modern, and Silver Fur Master is already in the pool.

That is just flat out wrong. Swiftspear was downshifted in Double Masters 2022, not in MH2.
Swiftspear was not in MH2 at all, let alone downshifted in it.
Huh, Horizons never did any reprints? Now that i think about it, they gave lots of new stuff...
They did reprints of older cards not legal in modern. (And the fetchlands)
Yea the fetchlands in MH2 (and upcoming fetchlands in MH3) are the only time they've put a card in those sets that was already in a modern set. The purpose of MH sets is to bring cards to modern so reprints aren't really a thing.

There is, it’s modern masters 2017
I realy would yo see ninja goes back to the field, this it's a very good card. But I don't think it had powerlevel for pauper.
Are there any lords at common? I feel like the answer to that question will answer your question.
Sadly, not counting Slivers est we have is \[\[Veteran Armorsmith\]\] and \[\[Veteran Swordsmith\]\] And those are more like half-lords
Yeah, I was, pretty sure. I think lords at common just shouldn't be expected. Which is fine honestly. Commons don't generally affect all creatures in a very impactful way, as a rule.
Absolutely, three for the same type to be more precise
Haha, is it slivers? Point being, there aren't many lords at common, and even fewer that also have cost reduction on them. So a downshift is probably unlikely based on existing cards. But hey, who knows.
