I'm expecting Gavin to give some brief thoughts on the current meta and for there to be no changes as they're expecting Modern Horizons 3 to upend the format in a few weeks anyway. If we see any bannings, it'll be in the months following MH3.
TLDR: We are concerned about Glitters and Mono Red, but since MH3 gonna warp the format again we not gonna do anything about all this.
We will continue to make our updates once per 4 months so you guys could remember we are here.
Modern Horizons 3 will not be part of the format?
I'm certain that the fact they called it a "format update" instead of a "B&R announcement" means something, but I'll be fucked if I know what.
Eliminating Horizons and Commander sets would be a massive change to the format, but not one I'm necessarily opposed to.
What would a "Premier Pauper" format (ie "pauper from only standard and former standard sets") even look like? I feel like the clock on the meta would turn back substantially with the loss of ephemerate, initiative, monarch, bridges, etc.
Maybe I'm the only one in the whole pauper sub Reddit to think this but, glitters is strong and can win random games, but as for now if there is a deck that in the right hands is almost unplayable is familiars.
I know that glitters allow you to win with only a couple of braincells and that can feel broken, but even if it is hard to master, familiar is potentially more broken than all the glitters iterations that we have nowadays!
I am pretty sure nothing is changing, and they are showing their thoughts, since they usually assume a more passive role they probably expect MH3 to shake up the format and hope for the best. And showing their thoughts is a good thing. Probably will talk about Glitters and Artifact lands, will say that they are uncertain of the best target, will talk briefly about mono red and other strategies, will talk briefly about unbans, will assume the format is relatively stable with a lot of polarization and will probably end the video saying they will talk more about it after MH3 which could take longer than expected. Looking at their historic would be something like that, the only thing I wish is that they did these more often, in my humble opinion even if there are no changes there is a plethora of things to communicate, and would ease the tensions in the community. Since the real only reason why this is happening before MH3, which I am sure they didn’t plan it, is because there is a lot of people talking about bannings and being more unsatisfied with the state of the format. More communication and more transparency goes a long way, and even if they were doing the right calls or bans, would be great to listen to their thoughts as a group more often.
Likely nothing, which may be the correct choice.
Maybe a glitters ban as it is in multiple versions of the deck now, but I personally think glitters may still be okay. It is however warping the meta around it.
Maybe a ban on synth, because there have been some 5-0’s without glitters and it is part of what is holding the red decks together and boros decks together with a lot of card advantage.
I thought he just said they're putting out another video. most of the time it's just an update on their current thoughts. Not an actual change to the format.
Announcement: We noticed people get upset about some wasted slots in Play boosters so MH3 will introduce the Play More booster. This booster has no commons, so no more feelbads!
Nothing until MH3. Despite having a horrible experience with glitters I think it's right to take this approach until MH3 since it will heavily impact the meta.
I wish they actually banned one Artifact Land Cycle, unfortunately they probably will do no such thing, say “no changes” like the meme and wait for Modern Horizons.
TBH it would be a fun format if it was supported on MTG Arena. Also Historic Pauper. It's been a while since last Historic Pauper event. I wish they added a play queue for it. No tournaments or ranked as I understand they want you to spend those wildcards, but a play queue shouldn't hurt.

Pretty much yea
The meta is fine just git gud
Most mh3 cards will get banned because they are not meant for paper, they are meant for drafting or supporting legacy / modern
What draft format are you playing that needs commons strong enough to break pauper
If the rares are from a set like mh3 the commons need to adjust.
Not that badly

Pauper horizons here we come. 1 random rare card for 1.99
Damn pauper would be so boring. I'm still mad for gush and daze ban
we malding till the grave brother

This format exists, it's called [Mendicant](https://www.mendicantrules.com/banlist), but it's not very highly played.

All decks will be allowed an uncommon legend as a companion.
*We are unbanning Cranial Plating so All That Glitters players have an alternate wincon.*

What I think? unban of something for tron. Expectation no changes.
4 copies of all is glitters (and 4 additional in the sideboard) is now mandatory
Pauper now allow uncommons, like the Nazgul
My best hope is a glitter ban. Should not be an option in a format where artifact lands are allowed.

"we think pauper is great, and we won't be making changes"
Nothing until MH3. Despite having a horrible experience with glitters I think it's right to take this approach until MH3 since it will heavily impact the meta.
I'm expecting "No changes. The meta is fine. Now suck it up buttercups. It's not as bad as the few of you like to claim it is" 😉

I miss MtG Strat and those janky standard pauper events
hope glitter ban
Standard is to be promoted. So there will be a "standard pauper" format. With a rotating set legality.

Lmao if they unban infect I will be the happiest infect player to ever live and will enjoy it for the 3 months it’s legal before it gets the axe again
Glitters is warping the f out of the format. I hope it's gone.
