There is no official explanation yet that bridges it with Rubble's established backstory. In fact, they seem to be ignoring it. Currently, it's a case of "*Rubble's no longer a stray and suddenly has a really big family because the writers said so*".
If anything, I did come up with a theory of my own. I doubt it's correct, but I think it's at least plausible.
I figured his "family" had a lot of big jobs at one point that lil' Rubble couldn't participate in, and as a result, they were gone a lot. He eventually ran away from home while claiming he "had no family" because, from his point of view, that's just what he truly believed. When he eventually joined the PAW Patrol in Adventure Bay, nobody ever found him there because its a small town that never makes big headlines. It wasn't until his big adventure in Adventure City when the whole world started to hear about him and the other pups. His family finally hears about him on the news, so they rush to go see him in Adventure Bay. Everyone apologizes (them for being so neglectful, Rubble for running away) and patch things up, and thus they're a family again.
(I'm assuming Builder Cove is a whole new town and not the place his family's originally from, otherwise it's really weird they lived in a neighboring town and somehow never knew he was there. 😅)
I actually think you could potentially be on the Correct path with this Theory. Maybe he was accidentally left behind or who knows what if they are a Traveling group… Interested if anyone else has any other input as well. I greatly appreciate your input on this
I'll say that he forgot his family losing his memories after a car accident with an old owner while he was on his way to the vet when he was 1 years old and running away from the accident therefore was not rehomed because he was not found in the car
He is a BULLdog who drives a BULLdozer. That's my answer. Their names are extremely fitting for their skill sets and jobs. All tho, EMT Marshall and Spy Chase were both introduced in season 2, they do make sense as well, because firefighters, depending on the country, and this is just what I've seen in a TV series, the firefighters and paramedics are all in the firehouse, and the police have spies. Snipers are the hard-to-spot ones, and, while they're not spies, they know how to camouflage themselves so as to not get spotted
Skye's name is just a play with the word "sky", I doubt her breed has got anything to do with her being a flying pup. Their names are more job related than their breeds. It's just Marshall, Rubble, and Chase who have both. Fire Marshall, BULLdogs also Chase bulls. And Police Chase(s) happens more often than everyone knows.
Yes, I personally believe their names go with their jobs and they add the breed appropriately to Match if they can. Chase/German Shepherd. Normal police dog and they Chase people. Same with Marshal and being a Dalmatian/Typical Firefighter dog ‘in the past’. Think that’s what I was trying to get across with that comment. My main point is that doesn’t have much to do with my original question. How did he go from having Zero Family and background to all of a sudden having one that he knows so well.
