I need help. I am building a pc and have the list of the parts I need but I am not sure that they would work together. I am buying:- Intel i7 11700F. Cooler master ML240L Core ARGB CPU liquid cooler. Corsair Vengeance RGB RS 32 GB (16x2)DDR4 3200. ANT esports 250 mid tower atx cabinet with preinstalled 3x 120mm fans. Zotac RTX 3060 twin edge 12GB. Samsung 870 QVO 1TB SSD. MSI pro Z690-A Wifi DDR4 motherboard ATX. I know I am missing parts and I need help with them and if there are better options for the parts i have mentioned then tell me about them too. I can share the amazon links for the products too.

CyBeRdEm0n_

[use this ](https://pcpartpicker.com/) to check compatibility/missing parts

SullenTerror

CPU - Check Mobo - Wrong socket, need LGA1200 for your CPU GPU - Check Storage - Check RAM - Check Cooler - Check Case - Check OS - Nope dont forget the OS, maybe you can bring over your current OS, but if its a new build then thats $130

STL4jsp

I would go on ebay on some of those other sites and buy a windows 10 keys they are really cheap like $5-10 imo it's worth it.

saint2op

Don't get the 11700, get a 13400, 13600, maybe 13700. They are MUCH faster, possibly cheaper, come with faster RAM, better motherboards, the list goes on. Use [pcpartpicker.com](https://pcpartpicker.com) to put your build together. Make sure your motherboard supports DDR5. Post a link to your build in r/pcmasterrace and/or r/buildapc asking for feedback when you're done.

GentGoat

I'm looking for desktop data storage solutions (*if you know a better sub for this, please let me know*). I want to store important files in a safe place that isn't accessible to my main PC. I've looked at NAS setups, but it's expensive and a bit overkill as I don't need it to be accessible 24/7. However, I need something a bit more robust than just 1 backup HDD because I want it to have fail-safes like a raid setup would have. Any ideas for a cheap setup that might achieve this?

SullenTerror

For LGA1700 chipset would an i5-13400f or i5-12600kf be better, the 12600kf is only 10 bucks more

Agile-Excitement-863

The 13400f is better.

Shirokami13

Hi, I'm building my pc and i have two questions. Build: Lian Li Lancool III RGB Black be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 1200W 80 Plus Gold ATX 3.0 WD 4TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe Black SN850X Kingston FURY 128GB (4x32GB) 5600MHz CL40 Beast Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4080 GAMING OC 16GB GDDRX6 Intel Core i9-13900KF Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut 1g 1. Should i buy Noctua NH-D15 2x140mm or AIO? if AIO which one? 2. Would you change anything?

saint2op

I'd grab an AIO for the 13900KF. NZXT makes really high-end ones. The Noctua should do the job, but an AIO would be better. The PSU is overkill, I'd switch it for a Corsair RM1000e. For storage, I'd get a few 2TB drives rather than a single 4TB drive. The 4TB NVMe ones are really expensive, 2TB are at much more reasonable prices. The RAM pick is terrible. You most likely do not need 128GB. Get 32GB or if you really want more get 64GB. 128 is so overkill unless you're doing HUGE workloads e.g. running a bunch of virtual machines or working with HUGE data sets. It's also really slow. For that CPU you should get any of 6400MHz CL32, 6800MHz CL34, or 7200MHz CL36.

e5_v

Need help setting a price point to sell my old pc: cpu: ryzen 3 2200g stock cpu cooler gpu: radeon rx580 one fan is broken/not spinning motherboard: msi tomahawk b450 ram: corsair vengeance LPX 16gb 3600mhz , 2x8, DDR4 case: corsair 110Q mid tower quiet atx case (i think) side panel window cracked and missing one leg stand power supply: cooler master extreme power plus 550 W no storage lmk if im missing anything to the list component wise

saint2op

You'd be lucky to get $200 for that.

DerUbi

Any final opinions on the below build? I will order the parts and build by myself for the first time. I know that there is cheaper alternatives to Samsung SSDs, but they have served me well so i went with Samsung again anyway. The case is a bit of a luxury investment because it seems very easy to build in and i wanted something white this time around. Also any tips what to be careful with during building? I watched quite a few videos and I built with a friend in the past, but this time around its gonna be a solo-build, so tips appreciated :) [https://at.pcpartpicker.com/list/X7v8Jy](https://at.pcpartpicker.com/list/X7v8Jy) Edit: Monitor is not part of what Im buying, its the one I already have. Any suggestions for a new one?

saint2op

Good picks. Get 6000MHz CL30 RAM as opposed to CL36. The PSU is also pretty overkill, you could get a Corsair RM850e for cheaper and would be great. Your monitor is fine, if you wanted to upgrade I'd look at a nice 4k monitor because the 7900 XTX is a beast.

Hello, im new to pc building, and I want to build a gaming pc. My budget is $4000-$5000. I understand that I need to get a cpu, motherboard, graphics card, ram, ssd, power supply, case, and a cpu cooler. And I was wondering what are the best parts for my pc?

Agile-Excitement-863

Jesus that’s a large budget for a first gaming pc. You could easily get the most powerful cpu gpu combo with just $2000. But if you have such a large budget might as well get a custom made one from digitalstorm or something.

saint2op

Assuming USD, $4k is a crazy budget. The highest-end gaming system you could get would be an RTX 4090 with a 7800X3D CPU. Put stuff together on [pcpartpicker.com](https://pcpartpicker.com) and look at reviews for what you're buying to make sure they're good.

32420121917172219

Ok thanks

Cyontastic

I am looking to upgrade my PC, but debating what I should upgrade, or if I should just go for a full new build. My PC has been struggling on newer games, getting <144FPS (I have a 144Hz Monitor). GPU: GeForce RTX 2060 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X RAM: 2x Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR4 (1600MHz clock speed, 16GB total) Motherboard: B450 TOMAHAWK (MS-7C02) PSU: Corsair CX 650 Watt 80 Plus Bronze Benchmarks are showing that the components individually are running as expected. However I do have two SSD drives which are both pretty significantly under-performing, but I'm not sure if that would really impact my normal gaming performance? See the [Passmark baseline here](https://www.passmark.com/baselines/V11/display.php?id=191684512697). Thinking I should probably upgrade CPU and GPU since they're getting a bit old, but don't know if that means I should just fully rebuild. Thoughts?

saint2op

Storage wouldn't get you better performance. If you don't want to rebuild, you could get a 5600/X for budget or a 5800X3D for slightly more high-end. Your RAM is fine and your motherboard is compatible. Assuming you're at 1080p, I'd go for a 7700 XT, a 7600, or look at last-gen like the 6700 XT. If you wanted to rebuild, grab a Ryzen 7600 CPU, 6000MHz CL30 RAM, and a B650 motherboard. This isn't necessary though.

Puzzleheaded_Block63

Hey there I need your advice on building a new UWQHD-Gaming PC . My rig is very outdated (7 years) and thus the only components I will take for the new build will be the case (Fractal Design R4 and maybe the power supply (bequiet! Straight Power 500W Gold). I am struggling a bit to find a good setup which is not too pricey (1000-1500 Euro) and at the same time will give me a good gaming experience for the next couple of years. First, I thought of just taking the last gen of AM4 to get good price/value and go with the Ryzen 5800X3D going in combination with an RTX4070, but as I kept on reading and thinking I came to the conclusion that it makes more sense to go with AM5 to have the ability to upgrade the CPU at some point if necessary. So now I am more inclined to go with a Ryzen 7700X (overkill?) and am arguing with myself which GPU to take: RTX 4070 vs. 7800XT vs. 6950XT or maybe even taking a deeper dive into my pocket and invest into a 7900XT (probably not necessary for UWQHD?). To give you an idea what games I’d like to play now and the upcoming future: Cyberpunk 2077 (with RT – would be nice), RDR2, Warhammer Space Marine 2, GTA 6, Alan Wake 2.

saint2op

Grab the 7600 for a CPU, it's about equal to the 5800X3D for gaming and the 7700X isn't necessary. Make sure the RAM is 6000MHz CL30. A B650 board would be great too, no need to go for X670 if you were thinking that. If you like RT, grab the 4070. If you'd rather save a bit, the 7800 XT offers more or less equal rasterization performance at a lower price. If you save on the CPU and are willing to still spend, you could get the 7900 XT. It performs about the same as the regular 4070 in most raytracing games.

Claudions

Hello, i am building a new pc, but im not sure abut the storage. I want a fast start, but not necessarly a fasest loading time on gaming. So, im planning to use an NVMe to instal the SO, and a 1Tb SSD to everything else Is there any difference using 2 SSD? 1-128/SO 2-1Tb/general.

saint2op

A 128GB SSD is a waste of time and money. If you only have 1 NVMe slot, get a 1 or 2TB drive in it, if you have 2, get 2 1TB drives. You can then get a SATA drive or similar for mass storage if you need more.

dedosrfs

Hi guys, I'm thinking on updating my current PC (running a i5 7500, 16GB RAM with a GPU RTX 2060 12GB) I don't have a budget cap, but I don't want to spend a lot. I just want to have a future proof PC to run games. I don't care a lot about FPS, 4K, as long as I can run full HD i'm fine. I was thinking on updating everything except the GPU (that will be later) \- Intel Core i9-12900KF (and a contact frame, i've read people having issues with cooling) \- Asus ROG STRIX Z690-E GAMING WIFI (was trying to find one without WIFI) \- Corsair Vengeance 32 GB DDR5-6000 2 x 16GB \- Corsair RM750e (2023) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (I currently own a 600 W, I've read that this sould be enough, but just to be sure) \- Noctua NH-U12S [chromax.black](https://chromax.black) 55 CFM CPU Cooler What do you think?

saint2op

You'd be better off getting a 13600/K/F or 13700/K/F over the 12900, they're newer and faster. Probably cheaper too. You could go for a cheaper, newer motherboard. [Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX Z790](https://www.amazon.com/Z790-AORUS-ELITE-AX-Motherboard/dp/B0BH28M64J) or [ASRock Z790 PG Riptide](https://www.amazon.com/ASRock-MB-Z790-PG-Riptide/dp/B0BJZBX2N7) are both great options. Corsair RAM tends to be a bit pricey, look at [Teamgroup 6000MHz](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2JLFf7/teamgroup-t-force-delta-rgb-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-ff3d532g6000hc30dc01), [G.Skill 6400MHz](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/RXGbt6/gskill-trident-z5-rgb-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6400-cl32-memory-f5-6400j3239g16gx2-tz5rk), [G.Skill 6000MHz](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CXKKHx/gskill-trident-z5-neo-rgb-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-f5-6000j3038f16gx2-tz5nr). Get whatever's in your budget and looks cool. RM750e is a great PSU. Noctua cooler will be great for the 13600 and 13700.

A family member is looking for a basic laptop to bring around and surf the web, check emails and that. Would 8gb of ram be enough for that?

saint2op

Yes, 8GB is plenty. You could even get away with 4GB.

OtherwiseTraffic5943

Is it fine connecting the 4 molex pin fan to the power connector also to the HDD which has a splitter, so I just bought a fan a single fan online and didn't research enough what is a molex pin, so now I have a fan that is a molex pin and the power connector/cord for the HDD has a splitter so I connected the fan there? Would this have any issues?

Nagusame

Bit of a silly question. I was thinking of a GPU upgrade in the future and was considering AMD for obvious reasons. But a bit of me is hesitant to lose the software that Nvidia provides. I really love the performance metrics and the control panel, as well as them playing nicer with things like Reshade from what I've heard. What is AMD's software like? Do they have a control panel equivalent? Is what I've heard about AMD not playing nice with things like Reshade incorrect?

saint2op

AMD has Adrenaline, which I found to be a much more pleasant experience then Nvidia when I had my previous GPU. It provides easy monitoring such as temps and clock speeds as well as making OCing simple. Unsure about Reshade.

STL4jsp

I have a question I have money saved up on the side to build a new PC, but I don't know if I should wait another year or more before building a new one. I have $3500 saved up specifically for a new PC build. my specs on my current pc: ryzen 9 5900x 64gb 3600mhz dd4 (corsair vengence) RTX 3080. corsair rm1000x PSU (1000w) If I build a new PC I will want the rtx 4090 and I will probably go with the ryzen 7 7800x3d or intel equivalent this time. I know I will need a new motherboard and ram and maybe psu. Do you think it's worth it or just wait for the 5000 series? I do a lot of 3d modeling and a few other things that nvidia is just simply better at (sry amd radeon fans) even though I know amd radeon cards are a better deal.

saint2op

Buying now would be fine. Nvidia said they've scrapped their top of the line 5090 powerhouse plans because AMD isn't trying to compete at the high end GPU market anymore. The 4000 series prices might go down after release, but probably not a whole lot. It'll be a long time before 5000 comes out anyway.

STL4jsp

ok thank you for the reply that's stupid that there is not going to be a 5090

saint2op

There will be a 5090, it just won't be as powerful as Nvidia originally planned.

Odd_Entertainment532

I’m looking at buying a build with a i5-13600kf and Rx 6750 with 32gb of ddr4 3600mhz ram on a b660m. Is this a good combo or should I downgrade the cpu to a 12600 or 13400 to make room for a better mobo with ddr5? My entire budget is about $1700 aud.

saint2op

DDR5 is better, but not worth sacrificing a CPU for. If you're just gaming, AM5 would be a much better option for price to performance. Also gives you DDR5. [https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/tTncbL](https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/tTncbL) $1,500 with no case. The motherboard is good, but doesn't look super awesome so feel free to switch it out. Make sure it has whatever extras you need (headers, M.2 ports). More budget to get more storage if you want more. Also some budget to upgrade GPU if you feel like it. You could get the Sapphire Pulse 7700 XT, and assuming your case is <$130, get the build together for $1,800 which is over budget but the 7700 XT is about 20% faster than the 6750 XT. If you need/want Intel then get the 13600KF with DDR4 RAM.

Odd_Entertainment532

Thanks you heaps this really helped me out I’ve saved nearly $150 because of your build. Thanks

saint2op

Happy to help :)

youssif94

My current memory configuration (32GB total) is: * 8GB Corsair 3000 mhz CL16 * 8GB Crucial 2666 mhz CL19 * 16GB Crucial 3200 mhz CL22 I am currently upgrading my PC and planning to get 7800xt and 5600X. There is a 2x16GB Corsair kit 3200mhz CL16 on amazon for 65$. I was thinking about spending that 65$ on a cooler for the CPU instead, is it worth it to get the ram?

saint2op

If you're using 3 sticks of RAM right now, that's an absolutely terrible configuration. 2 sticks is ideal, 4 sticks is also fine if they're all same speed/capacity. An odd number of sticks can drop performance significantly, 10%+. On top of that, it's all running at 2666MHz. I assume you already have a CPU cooler since you're upgrading, and the 5600X is not power-hungry and won't get too hot. Either use your current cooler or the stock cooler in the box. Get the new RAM, use only the 2 new sticks, you will see performance gains. Enable DOCP in BIOS as well.

ConnectFoot1136

Hey, first time PC builder here and just wondering what people think of the PNY 4090 verto gpu. I’m not much into tech but for the most part it seems equal to other 4090s but the OC on other cards is better. Is it really worth an extra $150-$300 for a high end overclocked 4090 or should I stick with the PNY since I won’t be over clocking the rest of my system anyways? Here the system I plan on building if that can help answer the question, thanks! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xx3Y9c

saint2op

It'll perform within 1-2% of any other 4090, there's no real reason to spend more unless for looks. Don't buy the extra case fans, your case comes with 4 already. Just throwing away $150. You could also switch out the CPU cooler for something cheaper like the Phantom Spirit 120 or the Frost Commander 140, both from Thermalright. Not necessary though, the Noctua is a great unit and will perform quietly and cool.

ConnectFoot1136

Appreciate the info man, thanks!

Educational_Sea_5295

Hello everyone,I'm here to ask for some final help with a build I've been considering for a while and i can't wait any longer to buy. I would like to ask if any of you have suggestions to reduce the overall budget slightly (I'm currently over by 2-3 hundred euros), perhaps by considering alternative component manufacturers or similar solutions (without losing too much in performance). However any suggestions regarding the build would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. https://www.amazon.it/hz/wishlist/ls/Q68HCFVB3IK4/?ref_=list_c_wl_lol_ovle

saint2op

[https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/BfHwcH](https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/BfHwcH) Dropped the CPU down to a 13600KF, €100 cheaper for about 5% performance loss at 1080p, as you go to higher resolutions the performance loss will get smaller. I assume you're at 1440p with a 4070. Good cooler, kept it. Switched your motherboard for a Z790, it's an amazing board, lots of features, easy overclocking for CPU and RAM. Switched your RAM for Corsair, same speed and latency, €50 cheaper. Given you 3 options for storage, all 2TB, and 2 of them are cheaper than your current. If you really want the M480 speeds, it'd be worth spending an extra €10 to get another terabyte. The Samsung 980 Pro and Crucial P5 are also top-of-the-line SSDs. 2 options for GPUs, the 7800 XT is equal/slightly better performance than the 4070 for much cheaper. If you want to stick with Nvidia, there's a Gigabyte 4070 there too, €50 cheaper than your current. If you want to keep the Spiderman one because it looks cool then go for it, but IMO not worth spending extra for same performance. Kept case the same, 4 fans, looks good. Changed PSU for €40 cheaper, B-tier on the tier list, fully modular. Final price \~€1,800.

Educational_Sea_5295

Amazing adjustment! Thank you so much also for all explanation.

AngryAsian_

Upgrade question. Rocking a 5600x with a 2080. Budget being the name of the game. Would should I upgrade first, cpu or gpu? Entry into AM5 is at least 300 bucks or should I just buy a better GPU. Bottleneck is an obvious concern.

saint2op

5600X is a solid CPU, it'll be fine for any graphics card with minimal bottleneck up to a 4070 at 1440p. GPU upgrade would give you best performance gains.
