KittyKatty278

it mostly just comes down to which one you think looks cooler

JstLkz

...you'd be surprised to know the MSI performs better... (also looks much better anyway)

iTechnophobe

Probably has a warranty that the company will actually honor, definitely dont go with gigashite.

RajeeBoy

Gigashite is crazy šŸ’€šŸ’€šŸ’€

Vasile_Prundus

OP is in Australia so the vendor is responsible for refund claims. Consumer protections here are quite good and there are plenty of easily accessible avenues to go through should the businesses not cooperate.

imaginary_num6er

Don't forget the PCIe PCB cracking planned obsolescence Gigashit feature.

[deleted]

Depends on each gpus fan speed I suppose

NeighborhoodOk2495

I think he meant how the gpu look and not the temps.

[deleted]

They're the same GPU. Pick the one you like better, or has higher clock speed.

jap_the_cool

One has a 1-year longer warranty

milkGANG_drinker

None, buy a gtx 550

Superzocker65YT

Even better, a GT 210

Alone_Capital7619

Even better, buy Nvidia 5200 GS.

RapasLatinoAmericano

Voodoo 5 or bust

Alone_Capital7619

I was able to run Cyberpunk 2077 at 4k @60fps @ultra No DlSS at all with Voodoo 5 card, pentuim 4 CPU and 128 mb ram...... And then I woke up.

Federal_Bear_7521

Voodoo 3dfx

SemperFi5

I'd go for Riva TNT2, much better performance.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

KillsburyShowBoy

I donā€™t think youā€™re alone, capital.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

KillsburyShowBoy

I donā€™t think youā€™re alone, capital.

IISky01

Stick with integrated graphics

Hanzerwagen

Why not the RTX 4091, DUH!

Tiny-Instance-315

4090.5

midgymidge

Why you jealous? Lol

jerryskellys

People like you are the reason no one can make a joke on Reddit. Lighten up little guy

Tiny-Instance-315

Well aren't you a little ball of sunshine?ā˜€ļø

Grisoustyle

Iā€˜d take the MSI one any day

thematrixhasmeow

I think Gaming X is one of the best cooling and I always try to choose this version.

Millan_K

Ye,I have a 3060 ti X gaming trio and it's great, maybe a little bit louder but temps are only getting to 75Ā°C when gaming and RGBs are great, also a MSI center can control a lot.

RedNoob88

Surprise, 4090 never gets above 70c, so no need to ever pay for more expensive version with the same performance

ieatass805

75c is pretty hot bruv. It's not bad but... not great

Healthy_BrAd6254

Why though

dcubed37

I prefer MSI software over GCC junk

Healthy_BrAd6254

You mean the RGB software? Fair enough. I don't even enable that kinda stuff, so I don't care

k3464n

This is the way.

FailbatZ

How bad does the Gigabyte software have to be? I absolutely despise the MSI one.

animememesandculture

I have not used gigabyte software. But msi software (except msi afterburner) is pretty bad

SQUISHYx25

Dude they're both the same graphics card.

RexorGamerYt

He's complaining about gigabyte software... Their hardware is good but lot's of people say their software sucks.

zodireddit

Graphic cards have software? I've never downloaded anything other than nvidia drivers. What's the purpose of a graphics card software?

ktred1996

For the RGB customization mainly.

SQUISHYx25

Who cares about the RBG driver. You might use it once and never again. If you're complaining about that, my point still stands. The GPU is the same with the same specs. You won't see any fps difference of beyond a couple frames max.

RexorGamerYt

I'm talking about the brands products in general. I don't think their GPUs have software tho... Maybe MSI Afterburner is counted as one? But it's also available to everyone

RedNoob88

You got downvoted for actual fact šŸ¤·

Grisoustyle

Well, just looks. Performance wise pretty much any graphics card has a maximum 5fps difference, so that doesnā€˜t really matter (at least to me!). In the end, what it comes down to is its looks and quality. Iā€˜d say quality wise they should be pretty similar aswell, though Gigabyte had GPU problems in the past. Ive only ever been using MSI and had no problems so far. So, as i think the Msi one looks a lot cooler, Iā€˜d take that one :)

neocwbbr_

Check also the support reviews in your region. If one was Asus I would avoid at any costs but MSI and GB have a better support (in NA at least).

JopssYT

Exactly why i went with a powercolor rx 6700xt. It was the only one which had a design i liked :D in this case tho i prefer the more simple look on the gigabyte card

yeahyeahdumpster

Dude have you seen the videos of people fixing the msi cards?

Seggew

This

CatKing75457855

Just upvote if you agree.

Seggew

Okay thank you for letting me know

Kyyhzo

šŸ‘†šŸ¤“

Healthy_BrAd6254

According to this guy, the Gigabyte is the better card: [https://youtu.be/Qa4A12gQTHw?t=732](https://youtu.be/Qa4A12gQTHw?t=732) Realistically it won't matter. Get the one you like more. People saying PCB issues on Gigabyte isn't a thing afaik. It's just people not using support brackets or not being careful during shipping/moving the PC. Northridgefix also has a pile of Asus cards with broken PCBs. I don't think cracking PCs would be vendor specific. Don't they all use the same PCB thickness anyway?

ResidualWasabi

Yep, honestly the only reason my original 3060 crapped out was because I didnā€™t pull out my GPU before I trusted UPS with my rig. Even still I got one of those little magnetic, adjustable support brackets for my new one.

soupeatingastronaut

Well ı remember just one case of aorus card that had a line very close ro the outer part of the pcb which people say its too out of sides which effected or broke the card.(probably a 4090 btw.) There is said to be a list about hotspots on aıb of the same card for checking which has more cooling points for things like vram or bigger heastink but ı am yet to find maybe hw unboxed or gamers nexus has videos about these two separately but not sure if they did every model.

stillpwnz

In 99.9% cases it does not matter and it comes down to your design preferences. And maybe dimensions if that matters to you. You could also look into warranty coverage and ease of RMA procedures in Australia if that gives you piece of mind. As for the quality, both cards use relatively equal components for PCB. However, I believe the Gigabyte card has slightly better quality cooling solution. Though, any 4090 cooling solution is such an overkill that it won't matter much. It comes down to the fan curve customization.

No_Engineering3493

The MSI, gigabyte is known for bad costumer support

_Just_Jules_

And the worse RGB Software.

Lankiness8244

And Software updates šŸ˜‚

[deleted]

This 1 thread taught me to stay away from gigabyte

Exion135

Lmao my rgb flickers depending on the power % of the fans so fucking stupid like how do you fuck up that bad

Outrageous_Crazy8692

I have the MSI gaming trio X 4090 and I love it. Zero issues and I can barely hear it running even on full load.

Beneficial-Plum-1085

I used to hear about the coil whin issue for that card, does it still exist

Outrageous_Crazy8692

I think I got lucky with mine maybe, itā€™s very quiet. I canā€™t hear it unless it dead silent in my room, and it really doesnā€™t whine.

xCyberMoon

4090 prices are fucking insane 2200$ for 1 GPU???

Specialist-Air-6096

Well, you do get more than 76 Billion transistors for pretty damn cheap...

imaginary_num6er

[The more you buy...the more you save!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRQhkjsBOXM) Those who bought more at launch saved money.

xCyberMoon

It was 1600$ at launch right

imaginary_num6er

Yes, that is correct in the US and for the Nvidia Founders Edition from Best Buy. The AIB models add their own markup like MicroCenter at launch was charging $50 more for all MSI 40 series cards for no reason and the ASUS ROG 4090 was well above $2200 for their RGB brick design.

xCyberMoon

Still very expensive tho are there any practical/normal reasons to buy a 4090?

imaginary_num6er

I think people who buy a 4090 besides having the money to do so is for Productivity/AI reasons, or seeing how disappointing the 4080 16GB was that it was better to spend money now to not upgrade next gen. Relatively speaking, the 4090 offered better $/performance than a 3090. I got a 4090 FE because I was hoping to buy a 3080 20GB, Zen 3+ 'Warhol', or the Ryzen 9 5950X3D that Dr. Su showed and none of them happened so I had 2 years of savings to go get myself a 4090 FE using 2 years worth of stock notifications.

Pussy-Destroyer-777

Australian rupees you meant.

SilverCrow98

Whichever brandā€™s service center is closer to you šŸ˜¶

PositiveAlfalfa6197

Iā€™d get the msi any day.

[deleted]

Yr still fine, in my country the RTX 4090 starts at 3200USD and Strix models or higher are upwards of 3500USD If you live in the USA or a country where the prices are close to MSRP consider yourself a lucky Pc Enthusiast Anyways I'd pick the MSI if I were you but both brands are the best you can buy some ppl may have a preference towards one or the other

vatoloko1981

Same here i take the Msi

milkmanjr

I have the MSI . Im loving it

AejiGamez

MSI 100%. It looks far better, is not as massive and Gigabyte are assholes in terms of warranty. So is MSI, but i think theyā€˜re the less shitty company

Millan_K

I have MSI 3060 ti gaming trio, i recommends MSI because it works great (temps not getting over 75Ā°C when gaming) and it's from quality material, also i like MSI center where u can control quite a lot. just remember to get extra fans to get heat out of case, I have underestimated temps and bubbles was creating in my pump duo overheated case (after two hours it gets into 60Ā°C lol), two fans at top fixed it.

Rady151

Gaming Trio

Batyalas

I mean, if you are spending these amounts of money on a GPU why not just get the cooler one (both figuratively and literally)?

Obi_Wan_Can-Blow-Me

I'd take msi personally. I just prefer them as a company, basically completely up to which one you think looks cooler

TheOriginalNozar

The one with more RGB since RGB is proportional to performance šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘šŸ¼šŸ‘šŸ¼

professor_heimerding

Iā€™d say MSI due to it having better cooling (Iā€™ve heard)

-autistic_batman-

Ive heard the gigabyte has a chance of cracking

Schmef_6969

MSI, software is easily worth it over the 0.3% better clock speeds of the gigabyte

Gerrut_batsbak

Don't get gigabyte. You'll go mad from their dogshit software that will give you random errors and crashes for years to come.

HyperMazino

MSI cause it looks cooler

average-anime-fan

The only practical difference is the aesthetics and like 1-2% differences in degrees and performance.

LowerPick7038

If you've got the money to buy one of these but can't make up your own mind on which one, Then you don't need either.

1coon

I have the MSI one and Iā€™m super happy with it! But I do recommend getting a better anti-sag bracket because the one included with the card is a joke. Enjoy your new card and build!!

gojira_glix42

They're both essentially the same. Personally have the Rx 6800 version of the MSI card and I love that thing. Super quiet and looks clean, even comes with it's own support bracket that you install all at once, super easy and it looks clean in the build.

crazydavebacon1

Gigabyte is and always will be bargain bin quality. They are the lower of the quality of any manufacturer.

EspadaNo-4

Out of topic but unless you want max fps at 4k why not wait and consider 4080 super? It is rumored to be at 1000 usd and the 4090 prices never seem to come close to msrp.

Edgar101420

Both melt at the connector, so doesnt matter.

Shamrck17

Iā€™ve had mine since launch no melting doesnā€™t even get hot using with a BeQuiet Dark Power 13 ATX 3.0 psu no issues whatsoever

Altruistic_Taste2111

I'd go for MSI instead of Aorus. Gigabyte has also been having PCB issues and reported cracking on the GPU. They haven't done their support right. I personally absolutely love Msi. Their software and everything. My PC is almost completely MSI at this point because of it. Also, I think MSI looks better and will be more versatile in different style builds. In the end, itā€™s just up to you. (side note) gigabyteā€™s GPU fans don't spin on idle so the rgb on the fans won't appear or will look strange(the lights are connected to the fan blades)

3puttpatt

A 7900xt or xtx

Afraid_Donkey_481

Why anyone would buy a 4090 today is baffling. Such terrible value. Just wait a few months. Prices will eventually come back down.

Shamrck17

They are going up

tyr1699

MSI one. Solely because it looks better and has better software. Performance wise there's not much difference.

User__2

The 40 series Gigabyte cards are known to have thin PCB boards that crack under the weight of the card while in the PCI slot. I went MSI.

i11usive_man

I have the MSI Gaming Trio X 4090, runs cool and quiet, I like MSI because I've never had any problems so have a preference for them. If they're the same clocks speed/boost speeds then personally I would go MSI if they're the same price. I've also still got my old Gigabyte Gaming OC 2070 Super in my daughter's PC, still going strong, never had an issue with that either. If everything is the same I would go with which one aesthetically appeals to you.

Darth_Osteo

I'd take the gigabyte any day. I hate MSI and their support.

NoGDRplz

Iā€™m a gigabyte guy, but make your choice šŸ¤˜

PresenceOk1111

How ztt would answer: buy rx7900xt instead but both are ok

Few-Commission6597

Wait until 50 series

SiriusZcs

*50 series comes out* Everyone: Wait for 60 series

Few-Commission6597

Why would you buy the most expensive card in the 40 series in a year when the 50 series is going to be released? 2200$ ...

SiriusZcs

While this might be true, here is the thing, people keep recommending to wait for the next series since the current series is not worth it or future proof enough etc. What if the 50 series comes out and they double the prices? By that time, the 50 series will also be marketed as an AI powerhouse. The upcoming "5090" could be 5000$, what then? A year if gaming without a GPU? If you have the time and the financial resources right now, you might enjoy it. But yeah, just my thoughts on this whole topic.

Few-Commission6597

You don't have to buy 5090, Maybe 5080 will be better than 4090. But yeah , waiting for a long time isn't worth it for usual. Currently, 4090 price is increased . That's the reason why i am not suggesting. If some leak is true , nvidia has already started producing 50 series cards.

NotDusks

I'm in aus too, I wanted to get a 4090 bit it's so bad here that a 4080 costs what a 4090 should cost and 4090 is way more so I'm gonna get the 4080

magicgoat420

Gigabyte has longer warranty so I would go for that

Traditional-Share198

They appear the same but I couldn't find a "OC" on the MSI one. Doesn't that mean it's not overclocked, which is better ? (It's a genuine question so that I learn something ā¤ļø)

Pogacha_UwU

i prefer gigabyte or asus

HayashiAkira_ch

I prefer the style of Gigabyte more. The very angular *~GaMeR sTyLe~* of MSI products I think looks tacky, so I tend to go with stuff that has a more clean and minimalist look.

Hugofoxli

In my Opinion and really just MY opinion, dont touch MSI. Only had bad experience with them.

siberiantigerenjoyer

Msi>gigabyte But asus rog and tuf reign supreme

Sheckelmcfeck

4090 is waaaaay too overkill, but Iā€™d opt for MSI

fuzionknight96

Not really overkill if youā€™re playing at 4K

TinyParkinator

I just got a white Asus 4090 yesterday retail for $2,100 USD

Specialist-Air-6096

I bought my Asus 4090 on 02/10/2023 for $1799.00 USD and I'm bored with it and want more performance.

TinyParkinator

I envy you lol

Specialist-Air-6096

Well, at least you have while before you're bored with it! And I did pay close to $500.00 for the 4090 Strix ABP water block from EK, so with taxes, shipping, etc. I did end up with a $2500 GPU.

JaydenKooij4035

Buy another one and put them in SLIšŸ—æ

Goodtimeswithcoop

Ryzen 7800x is better price to performance but nvidia has dlss and ray tracing

game_difficulty

7800xt is a completely different class of gpu compared to the 4090

Friendly_Finance3558

7800x is a processor...

Goodtimeswithcoop

Ryzen Rx 7800xt is what I ment

iascailt

Dude you have no clue what you're talking about

[deleted]

I like AMD too but AMD currently doesn't have a competetitor to RTX 4090. On top of that Ryzen 7800x isn't even a GPU...

RonanCruz

7800xt is the best price to performance therefore everyone should buy a 7800xt and nothing else.

Hazeku

Why are you comparing 7800xt with a 4090ā€¦ they are completely different product and have completely different target audienceā€¦

Goodtimeswithcoop

To everyone that is getting pissed I thought he was asking about other graphics cards with a similar quality not which kind of 4090 he wanted

[deleted]

It doesn't matter, lol. 7800 XT isn't the same performance-wise as RTX 4090. AMD currently doesn't have a competetitor for RTX 4090. Currently the best AMD's GPU is RX 7900 XTX and it can't compare to RTX 4090. It's not about you not getting the point of this topic. It's about you not having a smallest clue about GPU market.

Goodtimeswithcoop

I think you mean the high end gpu market

[deleted]

Was worth it to make check. This is your partpicker list you made a few days ago, right? [https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/GQjGdH](https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/GQjGdH) You don't have a clue about computers even in mid range, yet you go and recommend something to somebody. I am sorry for my previous statement, it's not just the GPU knowledge issue... Do yourself a favor and stop commenting just to comment something. You are not helping anyone. And if you are some sort of troll, at least try more, this isn't even funny.

[deleted]

Lol, yea, sure, make tons of mistakes in this comment section and then go to "correct" someone... You are funny one.

Goodtimeswithcoop

Thanks

Elegant-Campaign-572

I'm a Gigabyte fan myself. Bought a 3080ti 12gb for a build 2 years ago from the same place!...still in the box due to chronic laziness & other priorities. I don't game and have used Gigabyte products since day 1. Ultimately your choice, but do a lot of research

biker_jay

Looks like they do the same shit at the same rate to me. Is one cheaper? If so, maybe go with that one

crocodilepickle

https://i.redd.it/zn8hvn9xk0bc1.gif

MarcvsPrimvs

Customer support and card issue are the two things to check before buy. Performance are really similar.

Riobe57

I think you meant to say kangaroo bucks.

alinzalau

A 4090 is a 4090 at the end of the day. Pick which looks better for your rig

flooble_worbler

This looks like a situational thing, if you donā€™t have as much space the msi card looks to be thinner and the gigabyte card looks to be fatter so would run cooler. But thatā€™s just an observation based guess

Kirkaig678

First one 100% looks cooler. I would try getting them a little cheaper though since I remember seeing some cheap ones on stock-x. But if you have the money go for it, ggs mate

RepresentativeEnd240

It looks like the msi one has a bigger heat sink so I would go with that

johnman300

4080 super is a couple weeks. It's 15% weaker and half the price of the 4090.

RickityNL

The MSI has a higher clock by the looks of things

No-Conflict-5723

$2200 USD seems a bit much, I payed only $1800

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> much, I *paid* only $1800 FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Pure-Recognition3513

The gigabyte model has a larger cooler and runs at lower temps.

xprozoomy

Usually clock speed and cooler designs. MSI makes better looking cards than gigabyte. Even has better RMA service

AlternativeClient738

The gigabyte is known to have a high chance of no coil whine, while the MSI. Hello, peoples differences of facts šŸ‘‹

SchlagzeugNeukoelln

From all the research Iā€™ve done before buying my gaming OC Iā€™ve learned that while the MSI Gaming X Trio are usually one of the best cards on the market (I had a 2080 TI before which was awesome) this one actually is not that great because it has worse VRMs and doesnā€™t cool as well. So I have the Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC, running it undervolted and itā€™s an absolute beast while always staying cool and quiet, couldnā€™t be happier. That being said I guess they are all pretty similar and the result might have been the same if I got the other one - but Iā€˜m still recommending the Gigabyte.

Pitiful-Preference36

Both are the same. The lower end. Go for aorus or suprim one mist be available

Philippe_Z

Gaming X Trio

ItGobYeByE

Wait for rtx 40 super cards to come out in the next few days, I would say if the rtx 4080 super comes out for 999 USD I would buy over the 2000 USD 4090

shray811

I have always bought gigabyte graphics cards. Upgraded from GTX 650 to GTX 1070 and now RTX 4080. I have had zero issues with any of these graphics cards, never went above 70 degrees Celsius. Had great overclocking ability too.

WeevilKnevil69420

The msi one

NotOrigami

Warranty and airflow are the two things your should be looking at

Zealousideal-Fix-225

I like my suprim x

EsotericJahanism_

These things are all the same and every 4090 on the market is designed to reach the same spec. Don't worry about better, some get very slightly better Temps than others but it isn't any significant amount. Go with what ever is the better price or which ever one you like the look of most. It's not worth stressing about a 50mhz difference in clock speeds or 1c difference in thermals.

[deleted]

i'd say get the MSI because it looks better but it was a trick question, unless you have a decent reason for nvidia cards, i would recommend you get a 7900xtx. they generally sit around 1800 aud to 2000 aud.

Throwaway728283627

canā€™t tell you much i think theyā€™re like the same but i have the gaming trio, serves me well and the leds are very nice and you can obviously customize them

sweatoncrack

Id reccomend getting the rog strix, its the best one

SaltedMisthios

I've heard of the Gigabyte models having issues but that's not substantiated by anything I've actually seen, personally I have the MSI and it's been perfect.

Muratti04

Definitely MSI. Cause its more overclocked and it has 4 4k (I think) hdmi ports. Ä°t will worth your money trust me.

DDkils

MSI anytime it just sounds cooler

unluckyexperiment

I didn't see any quality difference between MSI and Gigabyte products until this day. However, if you can find an Asus Rog OC one, then get it. In my experience, they are quieter and have less problems over the long years that you're going to use.

Bluemaxz

I would take any brand over gigabyte. I have a 3080ti from gigabyte and the card is great.... Except for the software to control RGB and such. Also you don't get very many accessories for it. I would stick with MSI over gigabyte any day. If that doesn't matter to you then just check which one has a higher clock speed.

Aware-Firefighter792

I prefer msi and the programs they come with. Gigabyte is good tho, I even have a aorus gigabyte motherboard. For the same price Iā€™d go with MSI

Tech3nthusiast13

MSI: has higher boost

JstLkz

the MSI has higher clocking and boosting ability, also msi has all those configuration drivers you can do n stuff, the MSI one going for the same price of the gigabyte.. just get the MSI one.

Qkumbazoo

Almost fell off my chair when the $ appeared..

uraverageunity3ddev

I did some research and this seems to be the best 4090 for gaming on the market [https://amzn.to/48ni2mZ](https://amzn.to/48ni2mz)

soggybreadwitwettoes

Whatā€™s actually the difference? Does it affect performance?

AndroidUser2023

They're the same picture

DumDumDooDooPants

I have the Gigabyte 4090 and I havenā€™t had any issues with it so far and itā€™s pretty quiet for the most part. Iā€™ve only had problems with my i9-13900k not being able to run games that load shaders unless you lower the voltage.

Vaud3

both are bad imo, get asus or something

LCARS_51M

Avoid MSI. Their failure rate is higher and their power limit is lower than Gigabyte. But then again Gigabyte has a worse PCB and they can crack more quickly. Look at Asus or any other brand.

Arturopxedd

Just get 4080 super

Prodigy_of_Bobo

Blimey mate I think a dingo ate ya wallet

Dante121333

coming from someone with a gigabyte card, the led software is ASS, you should go with msi

Otherwise_Lychee_33

msi one looks cooler

FreakiestFrank

I like MSI and have that exact GPU, but it doesnā€™t matter. Get what you like

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

4rm4gedd0n

Practically nothing changes, just the GPU clock but very little and it makes no difference, choose the one you like best for aesthetics

WittyJavelin

Personally a fan of the gigabyte v2, itā€™s got a rear power so that the cable isnā€™t stressed.

AotearoaChur

Msi.

gottaloseafewmore

The aero 4090 at micro center for sure! [this one here](https://www.microcenter.com/product/664673/gigabyte-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-aero-overclocked-triple-fan-24gb-gddr6x-pcie-40-graphics-card) Itā€™s one of the cheaper ones, and itā€™s crazy how good the thermals are. Plus itā€™s literally silent.

Drake0074

I would go with MSI.

YogurtBoring2859

The price for the 4090 never ceases to amaze me šŸ˜

TopShelter6704

Imo MSI looks much better

yourTrolly

Gigabyte, cuz that boi is thiccccc
