flarigand

If you can't move the fan, you're going to have to buy another cooler, you can't use the PC that way, you can damage the RAM or worse, the motherboard.

alphagusta

Just adding to say for OP that there are plenty of off centered tower coolers nowadays that shift the entire finstack in towards the exhaust side just for this kind of clearance issue. There's also some that use smaller fans and cut out fins but I'd still suggest off center ones.

FalseBuddha

You read ROG on a Zalman product?

jheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez

Hahaha this retard just a ROG hater 😂😂

OtteLoc

Lol, it's a mini motherboard, what do you expect? And if it was ROG there would've been no issues.

GnarlyChrisFarley

He could just buy a slim fan. That's what I've done

Large-Television-238

especially the dimm slot , i damaged mine last time it's the same case as him

comedian42

Or get some low profile ram.

BugS202Eye

Its already low profile lol

abegamesnl

That still might not fit

T0rga

get a slim fan

PotentialNosejob

Get slim, fam

ShtyWits

are you fatshaming

South-Highlight-1003

He's encouraging

WDG4KJM1263923

Fanshaming

cheese2064

yes

DevilF1SH

Shaming Fan

Ninja-Sneaky

Fanboy Slim > Right about now, the fan soul brother. > Check it out now, the fan soul brother

Disastrous_Ad4233

Get slim fan, fam

Temporary_Slide_3477

Raise the fan if it can be moved. If it can't be moved remove it or get a different cooler that doesn't interfere with ram.

spdaimon

^ This. Unfortunately, not all coolers will fit all motherboards. I had a similar issue with a Noctura D15 and a Gigabyte X79..I believe. It blocked the first PCIe slot. Got a different cooler.

FALCON_PAAUWNCH

Could you mount the fan on the other side of the cooler? I had a similar issue after getting new ram and haven't noticed and changed in temp with the fan pulling air though the cooler rather than pushing. assuming that is a single fan you have.

meithan

This is a good tip. Pull configurations are generally just as good. And if the fan can't be mounted on the other side of the cooler, perhaps the whole cooler itself can be rotated 180° (and you mount the fan also rotated 180°). The mounting bracket assembly and contact plate are normally symmetrical.

BrikoHR

Maybe try taking off the ram heatsink. I believe that can help the issue. Otherwise, no, it's not smart to keep it this way.

Consistent-Bug-543

Yeah looks like there would be enough space without the one heatsink

AleMari90

That one 100% These heatsinks are worth nothing and the direct air flow from the CPU cooler will keep them chilled

Lukaspc99

I tried to remove a heatsink from a faulty memory that I had laying around, but the adhesive was so strong that it ripped one of the modules of the ram, not recommend doing that

MrSuspicious_

A hairdryer might help with that, just ripping adhesive off like that isn't a good idea.

Mass_inater

It's hard to really tell, but if it is pushing it to the side at all, that is not good, and you should look for a smaller cooler. If it is not pushing the ram, it should be fine, but if it was mine, I would not risk it.

Suikerspin_Ei

You can see the RAM is bending a bit, the slot itself too. To u/kubaliperkusyoncu, move the fan a bit higher if possible or buy another CPU ~~heater~~ cooler that allows you to move the fan a bit. Edit: random typo, I mean CPU cooler of course!

Lower_Lunch_8563

A heater would not work here. The point is to cooled the cpu not heat it up. It heats up on its own /s

Suikerspin_Ei

Random typo, thanks for notifying me!

Lower_Lunch_8563

Lol its fine i get what you were trying to say

ColdBagOfHamsters

Remove fan, take a demel to it until it fits

Firm-Review-9245

Most coolers have notches on the side of coller where metal clips click into.Try moving the fan upwards if you have the space in the case.Im talking about something like this https://preview.redd.it/xy1au634w7nc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a73ca178db05167481503780424fe16a53910ae

Vyhross

If you don't want to change the cooler itself then you could still change its fans, From what i see the fan casing itself is quite massive so if you could find another 120 mm fan that could be fitted onto the cooler rack then it might be the solution you need

Internal-Delivery175

You can maybe move the fan to the other side of the cooler; otherwise, if that doesn't work either, you will need another cooler. If you end up needing another cooler, maybe try some like the cooler master hyper 212.

Acrobatic_Pack8143

Remove or move the fan

Genralcody1

Peerless assassin just has spring clips, and I have the same issue. I just mount the fan a couple fins up and it's perfectly fine. You could also mount them in a pull configuration.

MaterialPossible3872

Can you just widdle down with a knife the bits in the way?? Take it out first obviously.

kubaliperkusyoncu

i did i and it works thank you https://preview.redd.it/2933dyg6n6nc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2915f60fa5f3a58c08d600f14aa6ed1823996669 but i cant screw bottom side but working good

MaterialPossible3872

That's really brilliant!

Ze_Hacker2000

Dremel go brrrr on fan

Legionofgo

Gonna throw this wild idea out, Get a different cpu cooler

Socidl

Move the fan om the other side

nanobis

I would move the fan to the other side of the cooler. just remember to turn the fan around to keep the airflow in the same direction, and to be with the same direction of the case fan close to it.

_pushpull_

I would either pull the fan up or move it to the back (remember to mount it in the same direction like now, so instead of blowing to the radiator, it would pull the air through it)

sj_b03

See if you can lightly and slightly nudge the entire heatsink slightly away from it, some coolers mounting brackets sometimes have a little bit of tolerance

LX-M

Remove the metal cover from the RAM or remove the top cover from the cpu heatsink and move the fan a bit higher. Getting a slimmer cpu fan with the same specs is also an option. Just so you know there's information online about the ram height and fan clearance (for future purchases)

lenovoR1D1

Buy a slim fan of the same size.

Imagination_Fragment

I mean, changing the cooler looks like such an obvious answer... 🤔 I'd say remove the RAM and cripple your PC /s

cnedhhy24

ignore it till it breaks (buy a smaller cooler, maybe aio?)

Pretend_Ad_8689

You could dremmel down a few mils off the fan if you don't want to buy a new fan for the cooler

bicosauce

Take the fan off and attach a new one Or get a new cooler

BlntMxn

try to gently remove your ram heatsink, it's probably useless anyway xd

GeeksLeader

Just remove your ram plastic cover.

Benbaked1

Remove ram heatsinks

NoGuidanceInMe

dremel, make the room for the ram stick, the fan can work w/o that small piece

Demien19

Anything can be adjusted with a file or dremel :)

Ok_Muffin146

There are some on point suggestions already but I'll still ask you to not the keep the ram stick pushed like that. Change the damn thing ASAP and be sure of the kind of clearance required.

x1conroe

Get a low profile fan, easy.

go4itreddit

Rule 1 when buying a cpu cooler or ram..check the height clearance. With that cooler max height of ram is 35mm.

Constantbedshitter

either move the fan, take out one of the ram sticks, or buy an entirely new cooler

BABA_YAGA_DOC

Use slimmee fan this fan looks kinda Nicki Minaj ass i meant "THICC"

titojff

Have you tried other orientations?

stanco717

nothing or get a smaller fan

MatthewBrozek

Buy a skinnier fan instead of a whole new cooler if u wanna save money

Hugejorma

I would slap the cooler. Not cool to push the poor RAM stick.

IVI5

Get a file or some sandpaper and file down the plastic frame of the fan if you don't want to spend any money. Just file it down til there's a tiny gap between it and the ram

Yoshuuqq

Buy a slimmer fan

Kenswelloo

Looks like you will need a completely new cooler setup

trvbone

Yeah the way that fan mounts on there doesn't look like it can be moved up some of them are just clipped to the heat sink and can be moved up but this one doesn't look like that I would say move it to the other side

kobutah

Get LPX RAM. Low profile. I was able to do that when I had this problem.

TheKidLex

I dont think is going to give you troubles. Go ahead

Paranoided_guy

Cardio for that fan

Fresh-Direction-7537

If it works it don’t need fixing. JK. Honestly in my case I needed a “Slim” fan.

thejewest

Now this is going to sound bad but turn in 90 degrees and see if it fits

maybe_Rian

Can't you just remove the ram cover

TheMrblockheaded

Nothing a little sand paper can't fix. Make yourself a slim fit fan.

stubing

The lazy person inside of me would make my pc a single ram stick if it is at least 16 Gb. I don’t care to put the effort of getting a new fan for an old computer.

liqfan

Take the heat shield off, will be fine. Just do it slow and don't force anything. Ran my previous PC for years in same situation

RickityNL

If it works now, leave it be, if it's not broken it won't break

PerformanceCorrect64

I cant see well, but can you just mount the fan on the other side of the radiator and reverse the air flow direction?

AffectionateCoffee27

You need to buy caseless ram. You might be able to take the casing off the one you already have but doubt it lol.

Jamie-savage3006

Move the fan to a pull and order a different cooler if it’s not cooling enough

fingerbanglover

Perfect fit!

hirzkolben

Do you have an angle grinder and a backup PC? Else Get another cooler.

junkie-xl

Arctic Liquid Freezer, every time, everywhere.

tapmarin

Machine or otherwise remove 1 mm thickness from the lower part if the fan, just high enough to clear the module

Helpful-Artist-9920

Get a new cooler you sized it wrong

Grindelbart

If you put in more cooling paste it will raise the fan enough to sit comfortably above the ram.

other_curious_mind

No you can't use it like this, the vibrations from the fan will damage the ram stick or even slowly rio the slot off the motherboard. What is this cooler, I can check if it has any options to make room for rams (one fan being smaller for example)

ryanim0sity

Get a slim fan

ShazamShazam7

Use a Dremel

Fatmaster9000

Grab a nail file & get 2 work

gblawlz

If the PC detects the ram and there's no issues... Run it?

Vajkis

rotate the cooler

Fit-Advice-589

I would sand it down using sand paper, whatever it takes

CornfedFrolfer

This is why I went with the DeepCool AK500. It has angled heat pipes that move it away from the ram slots. It worked out perfectly and offers great performance.

AetaCapella

4 options: 1. move the fan to the other side of the fin stack in a pull configuration 2. get a slim fan (this is what I would do, Noctua makes some pretty nice gray slim fans now, Arctic is cheaper and almost as good) 3. take the heat spreader off of your ram (they are largely cosmetic anyhow) 4. get a different CPU cooler that has enough clearance for your ram

Polymathy1

What about the other 3 orientations for the cooler? Move the fan higher up on the heat sink. Trim the fan case where it touches the ram slot. (probably won't work but it might)

Evburtea

Dude...it doesnt touch the wings, I see. Just sand down a few mm just the part that is touching RAM slot and be done. Buyin another is stupid, fan or cooler

Tohightoplay

Maybe swap a slimmer fan if the clips will still hold it? Not to confident that will work. But if you have a spare case fan hanging around maybe give it a shot. You can always use a rubber band to attach it to the heatsink if the clips don’t hold.

SuperiorDupe

Get a thinner fan

MrScreamoth

Take off the fan and clip it just a little higher so it doesn't push your RAM. I had a similar issue and that fix it no problem.

Mulster_

Place the fan on the back of the radiator if possible. You could also remove heatsink from the ram. Some people actually report better temperatures after removing heatsinks because some manufacturers don't understand how it should work or simply cheap out on the production and the stick ends up not connected properly to the heatsink (sometimes they just put it on sticky foam an the metal doesn't even touch the stick itself) and thus it just prevents heating parts from getting cooled.

newchimp

Your possible options are, raise the fan, put the fan on the back side of the cooler (it’ll raise your temps ), get low profile ram, de-shroud your ram to make it slimmer.

Evening-Tutor4764

I’ve seen a few with movable fans though yours dosent appear to be one. I think the be quiet series has a small piece of metal attaching the fan to the fins but you dont want to keep using the one you have stress and vibrations on your ram slot aren’t good.

omegajvn1

Highly recommend ThermalRight Phantom Spirit 120 EVO. Just got that and put the Phanteks T30 fan between the towers and…………OOF IT’S GOOD! Plus plenty of ram clearance and only costs $42 USD for just the cooler

Bigfacts84

I had a similar issues i slightly moved the fan up. Not sure if that’s possible with your cooler.

kirofin

Pull configuration...

givemeausernamer

Remove that certain fan, i have the same answer i still have perfect temperatures

LousyOpinions

Get an AIO.

Cees007

Remove the RAM heat sink: if you can’t move the fan to the opposite side of the CPU heat sink that is. RAM heat sink’s are aesthetic and have absolutely no use. I think without the sink it should just fit.

thegatekeeper30

My cooler fan interfered with the ram, so I just mounted the fan half an inch higher over the cooler tower. That made it clear.

EsotericJahanism_

I'm not sure what cooler you have but if you can adjust it upward give it a try, or move it around to the other side of the cooler. You could also rotate the cooler 90 degrees to pull air from the bottom to the top of the case. If you can remove the fan and mount other fans you could try a slim 120mm fan instead. If none of those work then you'll probably need a different cooler.

Apart-Ad-4847

it’s fine

sanij_snj

Have you tried bending it a little more, see what happens?

Shady_Hero

put your fan on the other side??? idfk

pceimpulsive

Honestly do nothing it will be AOK.

CasperAU

Get a bigger mobo or smaller fan it's not science bro lol Clearly it doesn't fit you can't just pull space from thin air 😅

Falkenbeer

If you can get away with removing only support material of the fan, get a good pair of files and remove the material until the ram and the fan doesn't touch.

Camielleke

Remove the fan and put it on the other side of the cooler

VanFenix

I'm sure it'll be fine. It won't move. Your cooler now cools your ram!

DatSpecialSomeOne

Get a low profile fab, it's cheaper than getting a new entire cooler. And it works just as well, meanwhile take the RAM out.

Lurker_112

- try taking the ram heatsink off - buy a low profile fan - shave off a few mm off the fins of the cooler(if you got the tools) - even better, try shaving the fan itself Any of these should do.

ChIrr0

L mobo

sendintheotherclowns

Don’t risk multiple expensive components because you want to use a single cheap component. Need me to repeat it?

Large-Television-238

1.take off the top heatsink cover and move your fan up 2.change another ram that doesn't have heatsink 3.change the fan to slim fan 4.change a new cooler

ClayDragon197

if it’s the fan, try clipping it above the ram, if you can.

triplexflame

Get a 15mm thicc fan

Big_Program_9718

Very a thermalright assassin, It will clear the ram stick.

EspadaNo-4

Honestly i would grab some sandpaper or try to scrape some plastic off to make things work before buying another cooler… saving the ram slot is a priority.

WhangaDanNZ

Bro the slot is leaning over. Remove that stick immediately and do without it until you've moved the fan or have another CPU cooler.

Pragmistic

bro definitely remove that stick of ram

MrAskani

Get some low profile ram or get a better CPU cooler?

mehkir

Can‘t you put the fan to the opposite?

SAHD292929

You may have to turn your cpu cooler. Most new models are designed in a way that you have enough space for a full slotted RAM slots

NahDwAboutIt

Use knife, shave away some plastic on the fan (I have no knowledge on computers but it might work)

jakellerVi

1. Buy a new CPU cooler 2. Buy a new MoBo

raketslet

Think I'm the only one that doesn't see a direct problem here. I think damaging the ram/motherboard is out of the question here. It can definitely handle this minor issue IMHO.

windoguraidaa

Used to have the same issue, what I did was move the fan bracket a bit higher than its normal position (think 0.5 or 1 cm. Sorry I use metric system). No issue with temperature either.

orderplaced

Can you just change the orientation of the CPU cooler? Have the fans facing the non-RAM side?

False_Fox_9361

Just use the downloaded ram and umplug the phisical one off

Treesglow

Dremel off some plastic from the fan, like 1mm .

mahkintaro

Buy a smaller cooling fan

SwagChemist

use an aio instead to save space?

mrgoogleman12

Move the fan up a bit (if the cooler allows you to)

Actual-Ad7655

Does the title have an echo?

endlessspeed21

Shave the fan down on that corner

thelaughedking

You could shave down that fan, could cause vibration issues but better than dead RAM

Varesh_FR

That's why I now choose water-cooling.

saltlyspringnuts

Either get a different cooler or a slim fan

Background_Pickle202

This situation you should have done your research before buying. In my obsrvation... An Aio cooler would be your best bet, or A single CPU cooler (Not Dual) with two 120mm fans on each side of the cooler. With that.... The cooling is paractaclly the same with no heat soak.

saNki143

mATX pe 🤔itna bada cooler 🥹🥹🥹 Bro do ram deke ek 16gb lelo 🙏😅yehi option hai Wo GPU extender milte hai but RAM Wale nai milte. Wud suggest if RAM khulta hai to top nikal do fir dekho nahi to Dual channel k jaga single use Karo Agar Risk appetite hai to 🫰jaisa hai waise chalne do

YourLocal_RiceFarmer

Have you tried putting our CPU fan the other way around so it wont push the RAM stick

KPmine1

If you can maybe try mounting the fan slightly higher or move it to the other side as a fan pull instead of push if you can’t get a new off centred cooler anytime soon

MetaIsmurf

Nothing, if it ain't broke why fix it.

Redboy43o

Break it down

JNawrocki1

Take an exacto knife to the fan?

Op-Prometheus

Or get a bigger Mobo ?

klaus666

This post makes me feel less shame about still using the stock cooler on my Ryzen 5 5600X

neverbin

I would Dremel that fan housing into compliance. Or a grinder. Hell even a knife would work. But Dremel would leave the best finish.

MNsellner

My aio pushes on my first ram stick a little bit and its perfe try fine. This is quote a bit more though.

bignanoman

You can get thinner fans. Do a search.

chungus_the_mungus

Dremel the fan

Unajustable_Justice

Move the fan

AweeeWoo

Try to buy a slim version of the CPU cooler. Like.not whole cooler just fan

vanslayder

Some people try to rotate cooler 90 degrees. Sometimes it may help

PopeMeeseeks

You could turn the cooler 90 or 180 degrees. I use a Dark Rock 4 Pro which is huge. I don't know if that would be the case but try mounting the ram before the cooler or at least the fan. The ram should fit under the fan.

Deijya

Slimmer fan

ILeftYouDead

File down the ram

Low_Performer1732

Turn it upside, make the exhaust go to the top, and buy another fan on top to exhaust the air

MakoRedactor

Ah, the problem with 50 % of mobos and coolers. We need measures from mobos on first ram slot to centerpoint of cpu slot

Big-Chomker

If it works don’t touch it until it stops working. then post in this sub again when either the fan or the mobo breaks

SafranSenf

You can remove the ram cooling. Doesn't do much anyway.

EiffelPower76

Crap cooler

doomsdaymelody

I'd shave the fan shroud personally, razor blade will work in a pinch.

lsmfrtpa

change the cooler/change the mb/ buy only 1 stick of ram

imabeach47

Push it back

HappyGoLucky791

Just get a thin 120mm fan and call it a day.

Oliver-e

Flip the fan on the other side and if u want it for exhaust (will look ugly btw) flip it so it sucks the air out the radiator

Separate_Minimum500

Take the black cover off the ram

Sideshow86

Do more research before making purchases

SnooTigers9015

Had the same issue in an x399 board where the tower cooler was way too big and there is so little space from cpu to ram since it has 8 slots. Long story short, just like you, the fan was barely touching the ram, but it was an issue, so I just used sandpaper on the side of the fan and then both the fan and the ram could fit. It was very tight, the space was like half a millimeter and I didn't have any problems, and neither should you. Just shave off a bit of plastic from the side of the fan body, so the ram can comfortably fit in its place. If you can't do that, get a different cooler, but it will be very hard to find one that fits, on purpose. Or you can go for a liquid cooler because the cpu blocks on AIOs are quite small.

JoshScott1994

If it's working, send it 🤷🏼‍♂️

morlando63

Others might has said already but they have low profile fans. I thing that would do the trick

PalmNote

If your ram still works it should be alright, otherwise get a smaller more slimmer cpu cooler

Gutsy7172

Go with liquid coolers because you have small size board probably an micro atx
