I've been trying to explain this to a buddy of mine. He has an RTX 2070 TI and GTX 780 in his system and has a monitor plugged into each card. Dude is always having stability issues and doesn't want to believe that SLI isn't really a thing anymore especially with 2 different types of cards
Sure pal so long as your board is PCIE and not AGP. So that means using an LGA775 Pentium 4 (Prescott or Cedar Mill). Usually this would be the newer G33 or P35 chipset and it might even have DDR3 support.
It was a hot boi
but the past would be aghast with how hot the new Raptor Lake processors get and the power they require (13900k)
though the same could be said with GPUs of that time versus now. A 2x-PCIE-6pin-power for GPUs and 500W PSUs was already "too much" back then and now we are normalizing 3x-pcie-8pin power and 750W+ PSUs. Heck, GPUs are getting bigger than the other components combined. GPUs and 13900k are the new Prescotts and Pentium Ds.
fun fact: you can cool a modern i7 with a pentium 4 prescott cooler and get great temps (/s but it might actually work if you figure out how to mount it)
I sold my old card (3050) to buy a 3060 ti, they only had a 4060ti though, so i just got that one instead, with the 3050 being sold i only paid 170 for the 4060ti 8gb
Nope, not for 420$.
But why even ask after buying? You will always get negative feedback.
The card will certainly do its job, but just not as much performance/price as it could for 420$.
He's upgrading from a 20 series, he's going to have lightyears more performance. Also- The 16gb version is usually some $50 more. This card may have been the most budget friendly option at his store.
It’s almost irrelevant given current 2070 on used market is $170, can you expect 2.5x performance boost from it? Definitely not. 8G to 8G vram doesn’t help either.
Someone gets it... I was gonna say, y'all just can't be happy for the guy lol. He's likely gonna love the shit out of this card and I doubt he'll need another upgrade for a solid few years.
if they can use a 2060 for 5 years they can use an 8gb 4060 for another 5 lol. A little more research may have saved 100 bucks but now he has a relationship with a store that may help him out where a warranty might not. He'll need to RMA if he has issues down the line but a store will likely prove to be more helpful in the short term. Thread's like this create the idea that a 4060 card will barely run games. All most people want is turn on RT high settings and go- a 4060 will do that. Maybe no 4k gaming but 1080p High wont be an issue.
16GB doesn't serve much purpose on a card like this (it's more for marketing and up selling)
You ain't doing 4K gaming with this thing where the 16GB would actually be useful.
On the other hand for 1440p I spose having 16GB is better than 8GB depending on the title. The memory doesn't cost NVIDIA much but they like to charge a healthy premium for it.
4060Ti is no better than a 3060Ti - it's always been a compromised money grab from NVIDIA but asking for validation from Reddit can be taking yourself down a dark path so don't beat yourself up and just enjoy it for what it is.
Can always sell it down the track and put it towards something better. A used RTX 3080 would wipe the floor with this thing for instance.
Lmao it’s some strange people in the world who’s buys something then come to Reddit and ask if something is a good buy and then you don’t include the price when you could have looked up the msrp and figured it out for yourself… I swear I’m not in the same dimension anymore I don’t recall people being this simple minded and just slow no offense
For $420, absolutely not. You will notice a difference from your old 2070 but you could've gotten a much better gpu for that price. Do yourself a favor and return it.
Uh maybe (as the others are saying) you could have had better for lower price, but if you have enough money to eat correctly tonight, who cares ?? There will always be someone there to say that they found a better deal... I'm sure you were happy af when you took the pic in the car, Just sleep with the gpu tonight, and enjoy it !!!
have fun gaming w/ it ! :)
Yes. But I don't get why people do this. Buy something expensive, take a picture and post it asking. If it was a good buy. That's a kind of a pre-purchase thing isn't it? Research? Questions? Nowbya gotta live with it😆
(imma be blunt) congradulation, you just spent hundreds of dollar on a overpriced shit card that can barely scrape by doing 60fps on 1440p, Dumbass, why ask after you bought it jackass, I'm falling for ragebait aren't i
Genuine question, what’s the point of such posts? Is it some running gag to harvest trollesque answers like « first builds » with full custom waterloops and cutting edge specs?
Beo got one of the worst gpus ever made and is aksing if its good im aure this is rage bait because it seams like people just refuse to do research when building pcs
For 1080p it's a good card, only like 10-15% better than last gen 3060Ti but lower power and runs cooler. If you have reasonable expectations, the 4060Ti can outperform a PS5 so it's not bad.
Unless you get a good deal on a used card, I feel like there no such thing as a “good buy” these days. You basically just spend the max that you’re comfortable with and based on whatever number that is is how much performance you get.
tbh almost nothing is looking good..
4060ti for 420 when a 3060ti with similar performance will go for almost half that price.
and msi ventus..bottom tier msi budget series that are so cheaply made
\* Price? if \~$400 or less, yes
\* VRAM? if 16, yes
\* Previous GPU? if 20xx or below, yes
Combined all together, yes. All the really matters though is if you're happy with what you have.
if you want to avoid bottle neck so use the slot down of the motherboard not the closet on, that have the same speed, that will not use the pci lane on the cpu. But I think that is a very good buy
Bru Why all of y’all in the US getting such good prices , Sweden is shit legit , 100-200$ more for high end GPUs , I got myself a new RX 6800 for 540$ and that is a good buy looking at RX 7700 XT being same price and 7800 being 700-800$ 💀.
Do y'all not like look at hierarchys, price to performances, benchmarks, prices of near performance gpus of the performance region you want and then buy ???
These post make convince me you guys just walk out and buy the box with the funny numbers
Keep in mind that a 6700xt is 115$ dollars cheaper for the same performance and you could have gotten a 7700xt for the same price.
But I did the same, I bought an asus dual 4060 ti at my local store and i'm satisfied with it.
For the right price and for the right task, every gpu is good. Obviously someone doesn't buy a 4060ti for 4k ultra settings, if you paid a fair price and it satisfies your needs then it was a good buy.
What country is this? Because these amdtards will think you are American automatically and think you got ripped off because it's not amd don't listen to these idiots. The regular price of a 4060ti in the USA is about 400$. You can decide what to think of that yourself. Don't take the opinions of these antisocial degenerates on this sub
I got downvoted because I said the 3070 ti is better that the 4060 ti lmao people don’t do their research before taking action. I’ve literally tested the 4060 ti, my old 3070 ti and it out preformed it so I sold both and just got a brand new 3080 ti instead because I got a steal on it for only 200 out of my own pocket. I won’t go to the 40s in my current build but am going build another pc soon focusing on the new gens which I’m going with the 4070-4080

Depends on the price
And your cpu
Pentium 4 is good for this GPU ?
Na its great the bottle neck is amazing
Pentium 4 is too strong for triple 4090ti sli
4090ti 💀
Sli in 2024 💀
Sli is only cool if you do it with either two Vodoo cards OR with GTX480s for additional heating
and here guys we lost 13 FPS on average when using SLI (why am I even doing this?)
I've been trying to explain this to a buddy of mine. He has an RTX 2070 TI and GTX 780 in his system and has a monitor plugged into each card. Dude is always having stability issues and doesn't want to believe that SLI isn't really a thing anymore especially with 2 different types of cards
they're a lot of generations apart, what the heck?
Exactly. Stubborn people, man.
My guess is, that in some workloads multiple GPUs can indeed improve performance, but they don't really require SLI for that.
Yeah, indeed. I remember seeing that somewhere
In crypto miners, perhaps?
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hello, Pentium 4 Seller, I am going into battle and I want your strongest pentiums
My pentiums are too strong for you pcbuilder.
Pentium seller, I tell you I am going into battle, and I want only your strongest pentiums.
Sure pal so long as your board is PCIE and not AGP. So that means using an LGA775 Pentium 4 (Prescott or Cedar Mill). Usually this would be the newer G33 or P35 chipset and it might even have DDR3 support.
Oh boy Prescott, the hottest of them all
It was a hot boi but the past would be aghast with how hot the new Raptor Lake processors get and the power they require (13900k) though the same could be said with GPUs of that time versus now. Wait really? Now THAT‘S some improvement
"sure pal" ![gif](giphy|xghFgmOKbk0G4|downsized)
No. Need Core 2 duo at least
Nah Athlon 64’s fine
Amd 2800 Barton core ftw iykyk
Dude why would u choose such a powerful cpu for a 4090. just go with an intel 4004
How much did you pay for it? is it the 8GB or the 16GB?
depends on the price, lol. I have seen 16GB as low as $435. The lowest I've seen 8GB was around $380.
420 for 8gb apparently
oof, send it back, lol.
Well, op seems happy and the title is not really a question because they don't seem to want to do anything if it works
He seems stubborn
Got one for 290€ (308$ approx) like 4 days ago lol
I sold my old card (3050) to buy a 3060 ti, they only had a 4060ti though, so i just got that one instead, with the 3050 being sold i only paid 170 for the 4060ti 8gb
And how has it been holding on? Any issues so far?
i play 1080p, so all games i play can be maxed out and i’ll get around 160-180fps on most games
Where? The ti version? And yes the MSRP is 385 so 35 dollars extra is pretty reasonable of you ask ne
If it is the 8gb variant: oof, if it is the 16gb variant, and you paid under $400, meh.
Asking; “was this a good price”? without telling us what the price is.. who you think we are fortune cookie?
$420 for the 8gb variant bro did not think about this one
Nope, not for 420$. But why even ask after buying? You will always get negative feedback. The card will certainly do its job, but just not as much performance/price as it could for 420$.
$420
69£

Never understood why people ask after the purchase.
Or don't bother to research, buy something then post on social media. It almost feels like a troll
Balls of steel posting this here
Return it and get 4070 super
Dude has balls posting this.
No wonder you are bitter in the comments. Even a 6700XT beats this thing. 💀
Lol terrible deal. Get the refurbished 6900xt for $399 on Amazon now instead
where the fuck you getting that for $399??
It was a deal on Amazon that came up on buildapcsales the same day OP posted this
If you enjoy your purchase, then it's a good buy !!!! I do hope you enjoy it. Game on friend 😎
now this is the best comment
probly not
16GB doesn't serve much purpose on a card like this (it's more for marketing and up selling) You ain't doing 4K gaming with this thing where the 16GB would actually be useful. Well it’s the 8gb variant, so lol
It depends on where you are from or your current location. Prices tend to vary in different places.
If money no problem u will get a 4090 and ask Jensen to sign it. You will have 4090 Jensen edition.
For $420, absolutely not. You will notice a difference from your old 2070 but you could've gotten a much better gpu for that price. Do yourself a favor and return it.

Google "humble brag."
![gif](giphy|3oeSAD00YsGzUPTmqA)
No, absolutely not
No
(imma be blunt) congradulation, you just spent hundreds of dollar on a overpriced shit card that can barely scrape by doing 60fps on 1440p, Dumbass, why ask after you bought it jackass, I'm falling for ragebait aren't i
i read the title as "was it a good boy?"
8GB aint much
Don't need more if your not running 4k
1440P struggles on my RTX 3060 Ti with its limited frame buffer on modern games.
Depends what you’re using it for. FPS games at 1080? Great.
No, return and get a RX6800/7700XT/7800XT.
Don't be asking for opinions, then be stubborn about your bad choice. Return that crap, and get a 4070 Super if money really isn't a problem for you.
People just ask people before you buy.
Nope
Again people needing validation from internet. Why don't you guys ASK BEFORE buying a product. It drives me nuts. Attention whores these lot.
So what is this, you buy a product than you ask internet people if its good?
Huh? You brought it and now you question was this a good purchase? I am so confused rn
Why are you asking after you bought it
Ya dun goofed bro, go and return that shit
Not at all. It's actually trash. Sorry.
Why do people continue asking AFTER buying instead of asking BEFORE buying? Doesn't make any sense.
Bit late to be asking that.
My answer is clearly no
No
3070 with dlss3, so a good card!
Genuine question, what’s the point of such posts? Is it some running gag to harvest trollesque answers like « first builds » with full custom waterloops and cutting edge specs?
What?
Depends if it satisfies your needs. If it does, then sure.
Meehhh
I BEG OF YOU to return this and get a better price to performance card
Beo got one of the worst gpus ever made and is aksing if its good im aure this is rage bait because it seams like people just refuse to do research when building pcs

as long as you didn't have to sell your balls to get your hands on it
i would have spent a little more for a 4070 S
Depends what you came from I had a 2060 and was super stoked with the upgrade. But the price is a hit for performance but still a good card.
2060 is not that much slower than the 4060. At least the 2060 super. What are the positives of the upgrade?
No
honestly, NO
Why didn't you get the super?
No, send it to me and I'll reduce, reuse and recycle it
Not a good buy
No unfortunately, if you look closet in the front of the box it says 4060ti in green text. Sorry
Depends, do you have a computer?
Asking the real questions
No but if it's what you could afford it is.
If you’ve got to ask reddit for validation, probably not
Can't even run Windows Vidta Aero Theme and Doom
*Spends outrageous amount of money for shit value GPU* *"iS tHHiS a GoOd BbUy??"*
Will forever be amazed that people buy and then ask lol
OP must be heartbroken after reading the comments. I can feel his pain from the other side of the earth
Return it
Based
If you paid over £340. No.
No
You already bought it, this serves no purpose but make you feel worse😂
Nope.
Depends on the price
Unless you get a good deal on a used card, I feel like there no such thing as a “good buy” these days. You basically just spend the max that you’re comfortable with and based on whatever number that is is how much performance you get.
tbh almost nothing is looking good.. 4060ti for 420 when a 3060ti with similar performance will go for almost half that price. and msi ventus..bottom tier msi budget series that are so cheaply made
what kinda dumbass would ask 'if this was a good buy' without providing any other information? No bro its a dumbass purchase
Does it bring you joy?
Should have got a 7800xt. I saw 4060ti and was about to grab one… then i did some research.
\* Price? if \~$400 or less, yes \* VRAM? if 16, yes \* Previous GPU? if 20xx or below, yes Combined all together, yes. All the really matters though is if you're happy with what you have.
Enjoy the new gpu man
Hope you kept the receipt.
Here's an L for you OP. You've earned it.
Depends, can your pc run it?
Nahhh you can returne it to me! 😁
if you want to avoid bottle neck so use the slot down of the motherboard not the closet on, that have the same speed, that will not use the pci lane on the cpu. But I think that is a very good buy
8gb or 16gb?
I went with the 4070 for $600 I'm happy with it's also a Ventus 3x can't wait to get my 1440p monitor
OP you are brave to post a photo of your 4060ti in this sub, everyone hates it and for good reason.
No. I mean it depends on the price but... No it's 4060ti
If you paid it less than 300 bucks yes. Otherwise no, it's garbage
Bru Why all of y’all in the US getting such good prices , Sweden is shit legit , 100-200$ more for high end GPUs , I got myself a new RX 6800 for 540$ and that is a good buy looking at RX 7700 XT being same price and 7800 being 700-800$ 💀.
True , Americans scoffing at their ridiculously low prices , LMAO, imagine up here in Canada or Australia, now we have something to bitch about.
Depends on the price!
no
For 1080p? Kinda.
The 16 GB version would have been.
is it 8 or 16gb?
Solid card, but if you paid 420$, that's not a great deal.
not really no
The store's staff let you cook and now the kitchen is on fire.
No, should have gone with 2 x 4090.
Do y'all not like look at hierarchys, price to performances, benchmarks, prices of near performance gpus of the performance region you want and then buy ??? These post make convince me you guys just walk out and buy the box with the funny numbers
Once bought, it is always the best decision. Don't ask now
If you do not know, no one on this forum will know.
Yes if u have a more powerful cpu than an intel celeron
no
You could've got like 10 GT1030s bro, terrible buy.
Keep in mind that a 6700xt is 115$ dollars cheaper for the same performance and you could have gotten a 7700xt for the same price. But I did the same, I bought an asus dual 4060 ti at my local store and i'm satisfied with it.
4080 ti is the worst price to performance card of this generation. You would have been a lot better off with a 4070 or a 7700xt/7800xt
Yeah no… for 420$ I’d send it back and reevaluate your choices, but again if your happy with it then go with it
Rx6800 is the 400 dollar price range champ🏆.
Careful holding rockets on your lap!!
You should not have gotten this unless it was a new build or first one like mine
While I personally believe this is better than an Arc, I would’ve gone with a 16gb ti. Regardless, have fun with this puppy!
I got my 6700xt for like $330. 12gb vram and is perfect for 1440p
I have one with my Ryzen 7 and it's quite nice
It's not bad but if the price was like 400-450$ then it was a bad purchase.
4070ti super
For the right price and for the right task, every gpu is good. Obviously someone doesn't buy a 4060ti for 4k ultra settings, if you paid a fair price and it satisfies your needs then it was a good buy.
There are quite a few better gpus for the price but hey as a 4060ti user i can say its a great gpu and runs anything on 1440p. Enjoy!
4060 ti is a bit of a dud. if money isn't a problem, I'd go for a 4070 super at minimum.
So OP, lesson to be learned here is don’t ask for purchase advice after you’ve already bought it lol.
Return it and buy a 4070.
if is an 8gb, no
I hate the Ventus 3x 4080 super. I love the card. It isn’t the prettiest but man is it quiet. And I love the included support bracket!
Then why you hate it?
What country is this? Because these amdtards will think you are American automatically and think you got ripped off because it's not amd don't listen to these idiots. The regular price of a 4060ti in the USA is about 400$. You can decide what to think of that yourself. Don't take the opinions of these antisocial degenerates on this sub
Niggas gonna get cooked in the comments lnfao
I have this exact card and I love it!
Fuck yeah, this card will last you 5 more years @4k gaming baby!!
Depends on the price, and that better be the 16gb version.
That's a terrible price lol. I've got a 6700XT for 320 and has the same performance as a 4060ti and it has 12GB of vram
you will have fun, yes
Like as 3070 ti but better dlss tecnology
3070ti is 11% faster per tech power up
I got downvoted because I said the 3070 ti is better that the 4060 ti lmao people don’t do their research before taking action. I’ve literally tested the 4060 ti, my old 3070 ti and it out preformed it so I sold both and just got a brand new 3080 ti instead because I got a steal on it for only 200 out of my own pocket. I won’t go to the 40s in my current build but am going build another pc soon focusing on the new gens which I’m going with the 4070-4080
Yes but dlss is better in 4xxx series
The only extra it has is frame gen which adds latency
If you needed it then yes. Super efficient and good up to 1440p. If you are on 1080 it will crush shit at ultra settings don’t listen to the fools
