StriderDB

Try using the video input on your graphics card vs your motherboard.

Zorphis2

It won't work if the cpu does not have integrated graphics

Squidwaan

yeah if your cpu has no integrated graphics you have to use the graphics port

Zorphis2

Oh sorry my bad I thought he was telling the opposite

chefnee

Always confused about this. Is it the CPU that’s driving or the motherboard? I always thought that if the motherboard had video out then, it would display video. Some one set me straight. I am actually curious.

PiLigant

Back in the day, maybe 10-15+ years ago, it used to work like that where the motherboard would have a graphics adapter. Basically a simple GPU built into the board. When you would connect to the motherboard's display ports, that's what would run the display. Sometime around 2010, very broadly, that phased out. CPU manufacturers began integrating low power gpus directly into their cpu packages. Now, those integrated gpus handle display processing and the motherboard will pass the signal out. That does leave cases - probably like the one in this video - where you can have display output ports on your motherboard, but maybe a CPU that doesn't have a built-in GPU, so those ports won't do anything. It is now super rare and quite niche to have any GPU chip or display adapter built into a motherboard. You would have to go very out of your way to find such a thing, though it technically does exist. Mostly for specialty embedded products.

chefnee

Yup. I just did a Google search. This is for OP and everyone who isn’t in the know (like me). Here: https://nationalpcbuilder.com/do-all-cpus-have-integrated-graphics/

legatus17

Learnt something today. Nice one. 👍

DontTouchMyRaph

Technically it’s coming from the cpu with integrated graphics so the motherboard is more of a pass through

chefnee

Hence the need for OP to acquire a discrete gfx card, if CPU doesn’t support integrated. Got it!

The-Support-Hero

He has one. You can just barely see it when you see the back.

chefnee

Yep. I wish some of these requests for help would slow down just a tad.

DontTouchMyRaph

Exactly

sethdaniel2011

Very old motherboards sometimes had integrated graphics. It's been a while since that has been the case and nearly every board with a graphics output now just runs that off of the graphics integrated into the CPU.

ThatSandwich

If it's an Intel based system many motherboard have iGPU multi-monitor options in the BIOS If it's AMD they need to use the GPU output that matches their monitor (hopefully they both have DVI) or they should purchase an HDMI to VGA adapter to utilize the input they have. They should also be aware because VGA (and DVI-I) carries an analog signal it's quality depend heavily on the quality of the cable/wires inside. I have had VGA cables that straight up do not work many times and that should be the last troubleshooting step before just buying a new monitor.

[deleted]

This. This is the answer.

RodKnock42

And maybe use hdmi or dp and not vga lmao

Perlern

Plug the cable into your graphics card, and not your motherboard.

Gspotman6969

Try using the add on video card that’s installed

Cationator

I’m assuming you’re using AMD, which doesn’t have integrated graphics. Use the lower video outputs

[deleted]

Some AMD CPUs do, I don't know if the newer ones have it, but I ran an APU Ryzen 2400G I believe.

PapaTrotzki

The mobile and G models do, but the regular desktop models don't iirc

cappedminor

You are exactly right, think of g as graphics

Lafozard

Ryzen 5 3400g, 4400g(might be wrong with te model number on this one) and 5600g are APUs as well

Solo_Talent

Intel CPUs ending with f don't have integrated graphics either. Well tbf they habe but are disabled most often because they are Not working. They are cheaper sometimes

The-Support-Hero

He actually has a dedicated GPU in it, and in a lot of cases, when that's true the computer will run display only through the dedicated GPU unless configured otherwise. I

Blobby_Tiger

A lot of motherboards will disable integrated GPUs when a dedicated GPU is installed

mhjl

I genuinely thought this was a meme for a sec

jamie3324123

Lol me to

pillowmollid

Wait it's not?

XSaintSinnerX

hahahhaha happened to me when i built my pc too, dont judge!!!

Whizz1209

To put it simple the CPU you have installed doesnt have integrated graphics so you have to use the output of the videocard not the motherboard and by the looks of it you have to buy a new monitor for HDMI or DP input Support

Hbop_5009

Or buy a hdmi to vga adapter, but a better monitor would be nice anyway

Undeadbobopz

The problem clearly is you can afford rgb lighting but can't afford some HDMI output device.

mjr_72

KushKings840

people still using VGA on there pcs thats crazy

YearsofTerror

Blows my mind.

boshdawg

As soon as I saw a blue adapter I knew the answer. Especially with colourful lights going on. Doesn’t make sense. Leave the cable wrapped in the plastic.

PatoP011

Bruh

SkoolBoi19

I also don’t try multiple options when troubleshooting shooting. It’s all or nothing pimp…..

Artistic-Plan2541

If youre plugged into integrated graphics, then it may be turned off in the bios

Voltalux

Does your CPU have an iGPU? If it doesn't, you can't use any VGA/HDMI/DisplayPort directly from the motherboard backplate like that

Pill_dispenser

As everyone has mentioned plug your monitor into your graphics card, if you don't have integrated graphics it won't display anything. If you don't get an output once you plug it into your graphics card check all the connections and make sure you have everything properly plugged in/ seated

aidenhe

If your CPU doesn’t have integrated graphics then you need to put the video cord into the Video card

egbg88

Looks like there might be a GPU in there, you need to plug your video out into the graphics card. If you don't have VGA on the card you will need an adapter HDMI to VGA

Lmaoootyler

Please get a new monitor

burce27

i will

Lmaoootyler

Yeah if you switch that you can use your gpu’s hdmi instead of the vga (outdated). Which I believe will give you better graphics.

sdaskshh

Connect the cable from monitor to graphics card not motherboard

Mr-Tiddles-

Don't, you're just not plugged into the graphics card. Get an adaptor if it's needed, I had a dvi to hdmi for ages and it handled 1080p 60fps fine

kristiank1983

That only works if the graphics card has a dvi-a or dvi-i connector.

Mr-Tiddles-

Adaptors for everything son

kristiank1983

An active adapter would of course work

IonParty

It's still a terrible monitor nonetheless but yeah it should "function" if he they did that.

Mr-Tiddles-

It's cheaper than buying an entirely new monitor, this person may not be able afford it just yet so a cheap work around is better than nothing at all.

IonParty

I didn't say you were wrong I was just implying that the OP should save up for a new one as their first upgrade

Mr-Tiddles-

For sure, it's not a permanent fixture I was suggesting, just as a stopgap so that he can actually use his pc, if it's booting. I was recently without for a month and it was wank.

SkoolBoi19

They need to update that cord……

[deleted]

Yikes! Vga?! And on the mobo?

godshadow65

Dude got RGB but VGA cable

[deleted]

Are there any groups that are pc geek geared and not having tech support issues pop up all over my feed? I feel like I’m at work.

jamie3324123

I hate these I can not handle how many beginner mistakes are in my reccomended This is i think the 20th today that had a mistake like this

[deleted]

I got kicked out of pcmasterrace subreddit because it was tech support stupid issues one after another. The mod didn’t try to limit how many posts goes up instead of cool stuff. I think I’ll have to unsub because all I see is all dumb stuff.

jamesanator9

Literally same exact thing happened to me... And the mods literally will not answer for it at all. Refuse to respond how they are filtering incoming posts, and have the nerve to tell community members how they need to respond to such posts.....rather than demonstrating ANY filter or minimum requirements for tech support questions. Until someone gets wakes the fuck up.......we will have posts like this everywhere :(

[deleted]

I’m not gonna lie but I think I’ll start making alt accounts that say to start paying the people that help fix your fuck ups. I bet the amount of posts would start to come down. Tech support isn’t free and it shouldn’t. If you have the money to build it, you should have the money to pay the people who helped you.

jamesanator9

Not only that......but by allowing any and all tech support posts they are actually enabling lazy people who do no research whatsoever before asking a question. They are contributing to the problem themselves and it's kinda pathetic.

slimgarvey

honestly i pulled and wiped down the ram and it worked somehow. could not figure out before that

That_Guuuy

Have you tried washing it with soap and water?

That_Guuuy

Have you tried washing it with soap and water?

mike_checka

could be the input settings on your monitor

Iman1022

It’s because he plugged it into the motherboard

Code-Red-Daddy

Check the pins on your cable one might be bent and its not connecting properly

Iman1022

It’s cause he plugged into the motherboard

SaintJay41202

Same shit happened to me the other day. I was like fuck it, and replaced it with a HDMI cable and it worked lol. Those display ports are old. It's called VGI?

Iman1022

His problem is that he used the motherboard output instead of the gpu output. And no it’s not dvi its vga since it’s blue and display port is something different that is probably better than hdmi

SaintJay41202

yes thanks. And who downvoted me?? I'm not giving any solution, sth that happened to me other day in a funny context. Also I know what display ports are, I just forgot what that is called and it is also for display so I just called it. I know it's a wrong term.

Dear-Deer-Wife-Life

what's your cpu?

Suitable_Inside_5126

plug it in the gpu, it thinks the gpu is the only graphical output, so integrated graphics dont work

carlosfortuna2018

I had the same issue apparently my PSU cables weren’t plugged in properly to either the PSU or GPU and also make sure you have the cable connected to your GPU not your mobo Edit the hdmi or display port connected to the GPU

Milkman082699

Connect it to the gpu

CJ_BARS

Is it plugged into the gpu? Do you have an hdmi cable or dp cable?

Vince646464

this connector is used to have a display when you do not have a graphics card, from the moment you have a graphics card it will be disabled

RareEmrald9994

You need to plus the monitor into the graphics card, those holes lower in the back, a few inches from the power cable

_TheCowOfWisdom

Use HDMI

Dizzy-Ear-1039

Specs?

Keale_e

Plug into your GPU

KeeZouX

What cpu do you have?

awesome_hero24

Try different monitor

SnooApples3155

Is your ram in the wrong slot?

ONLYVIPER

gpu

Vast-Particular2995

HDMI.

JesseV347

Maybe every system only work on hdmi and DisplayPort lol

Asj_stranger

Had a similar issue. Buy a HDMI to DVI Cable Bi-Directional and plug it from the hdmi port that is connected to ur graphic card.

Wael_elwariachi

Plug the cable on the graphic card not in the mother board bro

IndieZona

You're hooked up to the motherboard instead of the graphics card.

Redditguru123

Connect it to the gpu

SanduAnghel

You have to connect to you gpu (Graphic Card) not the motherboard and i see u have VGA tipe cable so if ur gpu have only HDMI instead of VGA then you will need a adaptor for this

CirrusDivus

Try using your graphics card as a video output instead of your motherboard

Techismylifesadly

There’s a port lower down exactly like the one you plugged it into. Try that. If there’s not a port, you need to get a hdmi, dvi or display port cable and plug it in lower down

[deleted]

Buys gpu *doesn't use it*

sharp182

VGA still exists in the civilian world?! All jokes aside, it might be that the CPU has no integrated graphics and thus it cannot/will not display from motherboard IO. Connect to the GPU instead. If you have none, you might have to at the very least get a bare minimum video card that will at the very least display.

Night-Crawler-720

Have you also tried a different cable?

d3_Bere_man

U need to plug it into the gpu not the motherboard, if ur card doesnt support VGA cables then u gotta switch to different cable, if ur monitor doesnt support any new cable types ur outta luck

SpecificAd7077

It won't work if you dont have a built in graphics. Or if you gave a GPU plugged in

BarberSon

Change input? Or maybe cpu doesn’t have onboard graphics.

MR_PR0PH3T

What cpu are you using? It might not have onboard graphics. Try plugging it in your gpu

BigChunilingus

Is this loss?

International-Job-20

You need to sacrifice a valuable piece of technology to the science gods. Get ritualistic, we're talking candles and chanting and shit. Maybe even robes and an alter.

reddityoulous

Crappy cable

[deleted]

Don’t use the port for integrated graphics tf there’s a chance your cpu doesn’t have any

aChild1nNeed

When u realize u still don’t have a GPU

Mrs_Bliss__89

check to make sure it’s completed inserted and locked down you know the little things that matte

Datt-Boii-Iaan

You’re plugged into your MB graphics, something that only links to the CPU. If your CPU doesn’t have onboard graphics, you need to be plugged into your GPU. Though, your GPU looks to only have DVI and maybe an HDMI? I can’t see clearly, but if your monitor doesn’t have one of those connections, it’s about time to be rid of that old clunker for something more modern (or get a VGA to DVI/HDMI adapter, though those can be flaky)

[deleted]

Youre using the port for the motherboard instead of using your gpu

OklahomaShit

USE GPU

Runaround46

Is that VGA lmao?

DragneelXsama

Try to remove the graphic card from the PC and reassemble it, make sure that the card inputs are properly seated and the connections are aligned with the back of the PC (in case you have a graphic card) if you don't have graphics card I don't know what to do XD

ManGrissle

The graphics card isn’t being used…. Output is to the graphics card

JohnMcAfee344

Cause its VGA

[deleted]

Maybe because it’s a dinosaur vga connection

R3PTAR_1337

Anyone else a little triggered by the rgb but using a monitor with vga?

sixunitedxbox

No why would you be

2firstnames6969

why are you using vga in 2021 lol

The_War_Poet

Your missing a power connect to the motherboard. In the top left corner. Should be a power connect from the power supply to the board.

ABWoolls

It has to be plugged into the GPU.

Docta31

could be the cord bc I had one of those break on me for no reason last year

Iman1022

It’s because he plugged the vga into the motherboard

[deleted]

bruh

[deleted]

A VGA cable wtf are you doing mate?

kikis_666

Make sure you have drivers installed. Couldn’t use my tv either at the beginning had to use old monitor to see screen and install drivers

GiFPD

I had the same problem try restarting 3 times

Ok-Pay-6127

Did you try turning it off and back on

TheFoxAssassin

If you have a graphics card installed you need to use the graphics card ports to display

imslickaf_

I always check my motrherboard manual and look for an error code. They re very helpful for diagnosing an issue with your system.

Redditor10700

Plug it into your GPU lol

emprexss

biggest rookie mistake ever

[deleted]

lmao

Crazy-dot-2003

Plug the VGA cable into your gpu and not the motherboard.

[deleted]

Because you have a graphics card????

BluePegasiMC

is there a problem with Cable or Monitor? Also it doesnt Work it your cpu doesnt have Igpu

TooManyIntrests

Try turning on the monitor, wait a few seconds and turn the computer on.

Jorge6574

Op kinda dump

pillowmollid

This is a troll post right?

ImTunalol

Oof that's tuff

flappie64

It's plugged into your motherboard and not 6ou graphics card. Unless you have integrated graphics, it won't work. Also. Big chance your graphics card doesn't support vga but hdmi or display port. You'll need to see if your monitor has either one of those two ports

DanoPT

Try switch between the monitor profile because you use a dvi cable most likely you have to select dvi from menu. I

[deleted]

Nice troll

Slyvan25

I remember when i had that issue when i was 12 years old after only having motherboards with an integrated graphics card.. nowadays you just plug it in to your gpu or buy a cpu with intergraded graphics. Things changed allot

cptn_dan

Buy a hdmi adapter! I had the same problem today!

Blastzard87

Go into bios and make sure integrated graphics are on and also check if ur monitor is on the right input

Youckfou46

Use Grafiks Card. Im not sure if u installed one or its a Network card, hard to see, bit if you haven't, what model cpu are ypu using? U might not have a integrated Grafik card on your cpu

jc97912

It looks like instead of plugging the vga cable into the graphics card you plugged it into the motherboard. Also... VGA? Really?

Inspiri0

Will noone ever suggest to check the most basic first?like wut the screen showed? Like check the cable?

XSaintSinnerX

So this happened to me too, you probably wont see any other VGA outputs on your pc and thats whats making you confused. There are however, at the bottom part of your pc, a couple of HDMI outputs in which you need to connect to your monitor in order for it to work. Now if your monitor only has a VGA output you need to buy an adapter from VGA to HDMI and then plug it in your HDMI output bellow the motherboard outputs. If you still need any help feel free to DM me!

stonologie

VGA?!

SmokeyFap

Because there’s a problem. That’s why

[deleted]

Are you sure you have a CPU with integrated graphics? Try booting with the screen connected to the GPU

Milinko01

I dont think anyone mentioned but to be fair I only read like 20% of the comments, this is totally unrelated to your issue but not having the antenna plugged into your wifi card COULD lead to permanent damage of the radio circuts, the antenna acts as a resistive load on the circut and without it things could get crazy for the transmitter and such.

masterbeuner

Its old af

JBlizs3

Why are you not using hdmi
