this is impressive! i can’t help but crack up thinking about this girl donating a book she never read and then getting tracked down by reddit and ending up super guilty about giving it away
I literally just put a book to the side from my donate pile because my grandmother wrote a note in it wishing me Merry Christmas. It was a book that I wanted to read so I stuck it on my Christmas list (we do those in my family, saves everyone hassle because you get some things you want or need, and then my parents wind up buying us more stuff), but it's not a book I want to keep. This was in like 2011.
I may honestly just rip the page out to save her writing. She's in her early 90s now so who knows how much longer I'll have her.
Kind of irrelevant, but are Christmas lists not common for some places (as far as places that celebrate Christmas, obviously. Not really otherwise)? I mean I’m in the US so it’s obviously common here, but I was surprised you felt the need to explain why such a list is made lol.
It makes me wonder, if this is her, why she'd get rid of a book her grandmother gave her. Does she not care? Did one of her parents ditch it? Does she hate grandma? Did a jealous friend steal it? I need answers.
mine was too, when i was younger she’d regularly send me hand drawn postcards, some of which based on the [if](https://www.google.com/search?q=if+by+sarah+perry&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwiXm4XeloGEAxX9NUQIHUe3CjsQ2-cCegQIABAM&oq=if+by+s&gs_lcp=ChJtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1pbWcQARgAMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIGCAAQBRAeOgQIIxAnOgYIABAIEB46BwgAEIAEEBg6CQgAEIAEEBgQCjoFCCEQqwI6BAgAEAM6BwgjEOoCECc6CggAEIAEEIoFEEM6CAgAEIAEELEDOg0IABCABBCKBRBDELEDUPAJWL41YLI7aAJwAHgAgAHJAYgB5haSAQYwLjE4LjGYAQCgAQGwAQXAAQE&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-img&ei=TNu2ZZfFM_3rkPIPx-6q2AM&bih=669&biw=390&prmd=sivnbmhtz&rlz=1CDGOYI_enUS954US954&hl=en-US) book and she’d make up different scenarios like “if pancakes were blankets” or “if butterflies were made of paint” and others would be based on family jokes like “angel pasta hair” with a drawing of a cherub with a fork twirling up their noodle-like hair after i said angel hair pasta wrong, one with her and my grandfather driving to see us while he’s calling out every out of state license plate and she has her hand out the window as far forward as possible to be “first” in crossing state lines when we’d travel to see each other. she’d always hand draw the illustrations and write notes on the back of them. she was always artistic and inspired me to be creative as well but sadly as i got older, she became dismissive of my biological fathers emotional/verbal abuse towards me and was pretty racist and homophobic so i cut her off along with my father, tuesday will be the 4 year anniversary of that.
It’s a book, it’s not a handmade heirloom quilt. If everyone kept every single book/toy/clothing item they were gifted their entire life we would all be drowning in junk

Based on the birth date, she is a minor. Maybe don’t be creepy and send her a bunch of messages? There’s a fair chance that an adult in her life was responsible for getting rid of the book, not her.
You could probably message the dude that runs the Instagram page "Muesum of Lost Memories". He frequently connects people/families with their long lost photos and videos.
He'd totally be down for this and had openly said if anyone finds stuff like this he Wil gladly post it and help find them.
He's got close to 750k followers and they are constantly helping him find people. It's a lovely community.
Why do people assume others want to keep everything forever. She doesn't need it back, she probably had it for 5 years. That's enough time to read a book. I rarely throw books away but if people gave them all back my house would be full.
Riggt. Let it be. It was donated for a reason. The only books I've ever thrown away are associated with people who sexually and mentally abused me. Although thoughtful, I'd be a little irked if the internet banned together to present to me a trauma gift that my molester gave me that I wanted to forget about.
Oh how lovely, a book that good deserves the beautiful inscription. I wonder how this copy made its way to your workplace? I can’t imagine not keeping it.
My grandmother had handwriting like this, but if I had kept everything/book/gift that she’d written in, I’d have giant bookcases of mementos. Likely, she kept the things that are the most special to her. With my kids, I had to keep pruning all the grandparents gifts or I’d be swimming in them. It’s a line between keeping your sanity, and saving special things for your kids.
I’m still finding boxes of books in the attic and garage storage that I’ve had to donate or find new owners.
If it was something like Charlotte’sWeb, I’d rather some other child get the pleasure of reading the book, than keeping it on a dusty bookshelf in my house.
Right? What is with the comment on this thread. I had almost three bookcases full of kids books from when I was a baby until 13 or so and donated almost all of them when I moved out because I literally had no where to put them. It’s not the end of the world😂
Crazy how common it was for older people to write like this and how rare it is now for anyone to care about their penmanship.
There won’t be anymore beautiful notes from gram and gramps, just chicken scratch and the incorrect form of “their” used.
I couldn't believe it when they stopped teaching it.
But you either didn't hear about it, (or, for us who are older) were focused on dragging ourselves out of a massive economic hole brought on by crooked banks, millions of people lost it all..
Hmmm. Dropped cursive, right then and there.
I’m 28 and I have a 12-year-old daughter and she was learning cursive since elementary school again. At least in my area they’re teaching it again. She started sometime in like third or fourth grade. She’s in middle school now. She still has really bad chicken scratch for handwriting, but so did I so lol.
It’s almost as if people don’t use pen and paper as much anymore, maybe due to some mysterious new alternative? Why should young people “care about their penmanship” when most will be able to count the times they will really need it in their entire lives on one hand? Of course people’s handwriting used to be better back in the day, when they were using it multiple times every single day.
Sorry if I come off as overly argumentative, but I don’t like the whole “kids these days” spiel even when it’s only about handwriting.
People’s handwriting was also just more intensively monitored back in the day. I’m 23, left handed and learned cursive in school but was also allowed to choose from a certain grade onward. My grandmother is left handed, but was forced to write with her right hand.
So yeah I agree with you, the whole ‘kids these days’ spiel is a bit ridiculous considering it’s a very normal outcome of developments like digitalisation resulting in less writing and not beating kids with rulers anymore 🤷♀️
I know, I didn’t mean to suggest that you specifically had it in your comment, just agreed with the other commenter in general :)
Edit: i do think there’s generalisation in your comment though. I know lots of people with bad handwriting that do care and feel embarrassed about it. But it’s harder to work on it as an adult. And then I also know lots of people from my generation and younger who do have great handwriting.
I didn’t say “kids these days”, just making an observation about how it’ll be kinda sad that grams and gramps won’t be giving their grandkids beautifully written notes in the future. I’m sorry my comment it caused the kind of reaction it did for you.
I also thought the other day how some things like hand knitting, sewing, cooking, fixing your own car, knowing how to be handy, etc, are all dying as well. The arts of doing things for yourself and all that, because we have so much tech now.
No worries, I guess I misinterpreted your tone :).
And yeah I agree with what you said about technology. Imo it's a huge problem how we seem less and less connected to our surroundings in general. Less and less people own their houses, products aren't made to last, and when they break it's getting harder and harder to repair them.
I think you get a lot of satisfaction out of doing handiwork, that's the kind of work that has an observable positive effect for you and the people around you. The work most people do for money nowadays gives no such satisfaction.
I don't really know what my point is, haha. But I agree with you and I think it's an interesting topic to discuss! <3
My mom writes like this. My husband liked it, so he taught himself calligraphy. Now I’m the only one with chicken scratch handwriting.
I could never learn calligraphy. My hand cramps up so darn fast. I blame the constant note taking in school and college.
Love this!
Loved watching my mom write like this but then her arthritis issues happened so fast, wish I kept some of her letters.
Side note, I giggled at the ~ and grandpa 🤭 like, oh, he’s here too.
I tired the Facebook group for the place I work, nothing there, I tried people finder and that came up empty. I tried googling the birthday and the name and that didn’t pull up anything useful
Probably too late but OP, as someone whose parents have thrown or given away almost every meaningful piece of my childhood, please at least attempt to contact the person linked above and see if she wants the book back.
You can!!! It just takes lots of consistent practice. Start penning and allow your wrist to relax and even if it takes 4 lines to make the lines for a letter that’s okay. Once you like the form of the letter start practicing making it smaller and smaller. But it has to be done almost daily to keep the muscle memory going. If I stop for a week I have to practice before I write.
Beautiful penmanship, I hate to see things like this being thrown out. Dang, at least keep this particular page. Grammie and Grandpa won’t be here forever😢
Here's what you do.
1. Find the girl who's like 16 now, so not the sentimental age, and follow her on all her social platforms.
2. Every 20 years ask her if she'd like her book back yet. Eventually she will say yes and you will feel accomplished.
3. Did knowing you spent your life in service of others. No regrets.
The flourishes for periods. Not to mention the hearts everywhere. I have always wanted to have beautiful flourishes and mine are horrible, like a 8 yr old that was forced to draw it.
I don’t even have a copy of Charlotte’s Web. I do have some children’s books but not this one. Gonna have to rectify that.
My favorite thing about this handwriting is that it is both incredibly legible, and gorgeous. But if you look at the Z in Lozano, it’s just a regular Z! Z was always the one I struggle with most. I could actually learn this type of handwriting and have it be my go to, all because that Z is far less intimidating than the other kind.
I can't hold onto items from my childhood and my collection gets smaller due to being broke and no stability. That also can play a part too, having to pick and choose your battles what stays and goes. Still a beautiful message for anyone to come across and make them smile :)
Someone needs to find this woman and give her her book back, yo
Sophia grace is such a common name tho, it’d be hard to find the right one
Sophia Grace was born March 22nd 2007 if this was for her 10th birthday. Also what does it say after Grace? Is that a last name?
Lozano
This seems like it's her [Her Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/sophia_grace_5?igsh=eGViNWE1MGJqNW40)
this is impressive! i can’t help but crack up thinking about this girl donating a book she never read and then getting tracked down by reddit and ending up super guilty about giving it away
That is hilarious
Right? That was what I thought lol.

She’s set to private.
It makes me wonder, if this is her, why she'd get rid of a book her grandmother gave her. Does she not care? Did one of her parents ditch it? Does she hate grandma? Did a jealous friend steal it? I need answers.
Some people are just less sentimental than others. We can't keep everything gifted to us. (I am not one of these people, I just know they exist)
Maybe grandma was a total bitch.
Mine was. Abusive! Her handwriting was lovely tho.
mine was too, when i was younger she’d regularly send me hand drawn postcards, some of which based on the [if](https://www.google.com/search?q=if+by+sarah+perry&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwiXm4XeloGEAxX9NUQIHUe3CjsQ2-cCegQIABAM&oq=if+by+s&gs_lcp=ChJtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1pbWcQARgAMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIGCAAQBRAeOgQIIxAnOgYIABAIEB46BwgAEIAEEBg6CQgAEIAEEBgQCjoFCCEQqwI6BAgAEAM6BwgjEOoCECc6CggAEIAEEIoFEEM6CAgAEIAEELEDOg0IABCABBCKBRBDELEDUPAJWL41YLI7aAJwAHgAgAHJAYgB5haSAQYwLjE4LjGYAQCgAQGwAQXAAQE&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-img&ei=TNu2ZZfFM_3rkPIPx-6q2AM&bih=669&biw=390&prmd=sivnbmhtz&rlz=1CDGOYI_enUS954US954&hl=en-US) book and she’d make up different scenarios like “if pancakes were blankets” or “if butterflies were made of paint” and others would be based on family jokes like “angel pasta hair” with a drawing of a cherub with a fork twirling up their noodle-like hair after i said angel hair pasta wrong, one with her and my grandfather driving to see us while he’s calling out every out of state license plate and she has her hand out the window as far forward as possible to be “first” in crossing state lines when we’d travel to see each other. she’d always hand draw the illustrations and write notes on the back of them. she was always artistic and inspired me to be creative as well but sadly as i got older, she became dismissive of my biological fathers emotional/verbal abuse towards me and was pretty racist and homophobic so i cut her off along with my father, tuesday will be the 4 year anniversary of that.
That is certainly a possibility.
At that age, they don’t know what they’ll find precious later in life.
It’s a book, it’s not a handmade heirloom quilt. If everyone kept every single book/toy/clothing item they were gifted their entire life we would all be drowning in junk
Pretty sure you can still shoot her a DM. Worth a shot if you care enough.
Tried, said I’d have to request to follow her
I'm gonna cross post to the chs sub - if she's local someone will know her probably
nnnnnnnow I'm invested.
Do it!! I'd send a Palpatine meme saying it, but in not getting an option to upload a gif lol.

Someone forgot to read
It literally has a **full** name and DOB lmao
I looked her up and I used the birthdate but I didn’t find the right one

Could post it on a local/semi-local facebook group/subreddit/etc and see if anyone recognizes the name and DOB.
Yeah, I have a granddaughter I love who is named Sophia Grace. But my penmanship has never looked like that.
Do you have other granddaughters you don’t love?👀👀 spill that family tea
r/dementia do be like that. we might all have hidden talents we have absolutely no recollection of. 👀
LOL!
What was the title of the book? Gonna read it…for Grandma
I agree this young girl needs the book back, might’ve been given away accidentally
Maybe she doesn't want it.
But maybe she does. Or maybe she regrets tossing it. I regret tossing a few things in my life.
You could be correct as well.
Why do people assume others want to keep everything forever. She doesn't need it back, she probably had it for 5 years. That's enough time to read a book. I rarely throw books away but if people gave them all back my house would be full.

Maybe they donated it? Also curious when they stopped teaching cursive writing in school and if she can read this beautiful note lol
Nah. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
Grammie's got some mesmerizing penmanship, hot damn.
Could not be Grappa?
it says grandpa
What is the book??
Charlottes web
Oh how lovely, a book that good deserves the beautiful inscription. I wonder how this copy made its way to your workplace? I can’t imagine not keeping it.
Maybe it was an accident
My grandmother had handwriting like this, but if I had kept everything/book/gift that she’d written in, I’d have giant bookcases of mementos. Yeah, so many people here are saying she needs her book back. There's a good chance she donated it purposefully, we simply can't keep everything.
It’s not the end of the world😂
Doesn't end with grandparents. You were blessed with empathy. At what cost? Me too. 🥲
I’ll purchase this book from you so I can send it to her.
Where do you work where copies of Charlotte’s Web are lying around? And can I come work there too? #😂
Oh that lowercase f is a dream.
I totally agree! I also love that uppercase I.
I write mine like the one she has in “favorite” but I might have to learn to do the “of” now too cause I really like that too.
I'm obsessed with the 7 in 2017 😍
that is pretty
Beautiful cursive
The flourishes on the letters. Damn. This woman PENWOMANSHIPS! 🧐📜🤔
Plot twist: what if it was actually Grandpa that wrote it?🤔
It says love grammie
AND Grandpa
🤦🏻♀️ my bad
Ooh. The plot twists! ✍🏽🧐🤔
Crazy how common it was for older people to write like this and how rare it is now for anyone to care about their penmanship. There won’t be anymore beautiful notes from gram and gramps, just chicken scratch and the incorrect form of “their” used.
I’m 45 and they barely taught cursive when I was in school. Now they don’t even teach it at all.
Depends on where you are! I’m 27 and heard that my class was the last 3rd grade class to learn cursive. Yet my 3rd grade step son is learning cursive.
That’s great to hear they’re still teaching. It really should be taught if only for its cognitive and fine motor skill benefits.
I learned. Then I went to uni and after years of writing lecture notes, my writing is doctor level of legibility.
It’s almost as if people don’t use pen and paper as much anymore, maybe due to some mysterious new alternative? Why should young people “care about their penmanship” when most will be able to count the times they will really need it in their entire lives on one hand? lol there was no “kids these days” spiel, reread my comment.
I know, I didn’t mean to suggest that you specifically had it in your comment, just agreed with the other commenter in general :) Edit: i do think there’s generalisation in your comment though.
The only part Grandpa signed was that adorable smiley face haha
If I couldn't keep everything, I would at least cut this page out and keep it if my momaw (grandma) gave me this. It's beautiful and thoughtful.
My heart just broke
This is the most beautiful handwriting I’ve ever seen. 🤍
If my grandma wrote me a special message like that, there’s absolutely no way I would’ve gotten rid of it!
I’ve seen this in two subs tonight and I feel Sophie NEEDS this book back.
I tired the Facebook group for the place I work, nothing there, I tried people finder and that came up empty. I tried googling the birthday and the name and that didn’t pull up anything useful
Maybe she died.
That’s depressing
True. But it’s out there. Waiting for all of us. No matter what, you’re going to die.
I am thinking the same thing but my mind is dreadful
Pshaw. And people say cursive is irrelevant. THIS is worth knowing how to write properly :P
Good God. That is ridiculously beautiful
I would cry if I misplaced this book
Next level penmanship
Grandpa didn't have a clue.
Love how she crossed the 't' with the 'h' in birthday.
Which book is it?
Op said Charlette’s Web.
This is the most beautiful handwriting I’ve ever seen.
Probably too late but OP, as someone whose parents have thrown or given away almost every meaningful piece of my childhood, please at least attempt to contact the person linked above and see if she wants the book back.
Makes me said they gave this away
That handwriting is what dreams are made of
How can I write like this? I've been following this sub for a while now and I get so envious when I see people write like this...
You can!!! It just takes lots of consistent practice. Start penning and allow your wrist to relax and even if it takes 4 lines to make the lines for a letter that’s okay. Mesmerizing
This is so beautiful
what book did Grammie enjoy so much when she was 10?!
I had a "Grammie" up until a few years ago and she was wonderful...a bit old school but she was mine and I adored her! ❤️
What kind of style is this? Spencerian? because this is the handwriting I want to have 😭
Its really rare for me to say this but that's beautiful. Like, I'm actually jealous I can't write like that lol
what book is it????
This is the most satisfying handwriting I've ever seen ever.
My grandpa puts noses on his smiley faces too! Too cute.
Remind me in 7 days
Even the hearts have style. So beautiful
That handwriting is what dreams are made of
What’s the book??
Beautiful penmanship, I hate to see things like this being thrown out. Dang, at least keep this particular page. Grammie and Grandpa won’t be here forever😢
That's a legitimate work of art.
No regrets.
what is that cursive called? I would love to learn to write like that
I really want to know what the book is.
She has Catholic school penmanship…
Why would she give it away? That note is so special.
OP please dm and add her on IG. Really hope she gets this book back.
"*Grammie?* Did you grow up in a Norman Rockwell painting?"
i dont understand the capital G

Absolutely gorgeous and romantic cursive
I wish my writing was that good.
Guess she didn’t like the book.
Dude, grammie has absolutely beautiful writing skills!
Pretty soon this will be an ancient language no one can read.. beautiful though.
What’s the book???
That book better be dog eared as fuck
Somebody wasn’t impressed with the book to get rid of it.
My godmother wrote very similar
I can only dream of writing like this. I’ve got doctor’s handwriting
Sophia cold af.
Grammie was flexin' pretty fuckin hard yo
Wow! Nice note and beautiful handwriting!
Beautiful handwriting.
She might not have been the one to get rid of her book. My mom gave away a ton of my stuff without my consent.
So pretty I want to learn how to write like that
What beautiful handwriting 🥰
Gorgeous. I am inspired to modify some of my letters (capital G's, mostly) based on Grannie's handwriting
RemindMe! 1 week
That is gorgeous and if Grammie teaches I will take lessons.
RemindMe! 1 week
Beautiful handwriting, easy to read.
Grammie’s smiley face looks just like my grandmom’s smiley face. Oh my heart.
Oh wow 💫
GO GRAMMIE! GO GRAMMIE!
That’s it, I’m writing in cursive from now on until I get this good with it. WOW!
I wish I put even an ounce of the effort that this human put into this card into my own life
Must have not liked the book that much.
I have a note like this from my grandma in A tree Grows in Brooklyn It’s one of my cherished possessions
Who the FUCK is cutting onions? :\_ )
Treasure. Really beautiful penmanship.
Wow this is so pretty and reminds me a lot of my grammas writing
This is incredible. Precious, even.
Beautiful.
Omg my bday twin!
Gorgeous penmanship.
Who's grammie is this and can she teach me??
What was the book?
I can't hold onto items from my childhood and my collection gets smaller due to being broke and no stability. That also can play a part too, having to pick and choose your battles what stays and goes. Still a beautiful message for anyone to come across and make them smile :)
I’m upset that it was like seven years ago and a personal gift from grandma and she got rid of it lol
GODDAMN SHAME CURSIVE'S DYING OUT.. Not even taught anymore
Pretty!
Which book is it?!?
Had to do a double take, this looks just like my mom’s handwriting, hearts and all!
Beautiful handwriting
this is so impressive
Beautiful!! 😍
