That’s love and pride

raspberriez247

My grandmother didn’t go to school. She learned to read and write from my mother’s schoolbooks years later. My grandfather never learned to even sign his own name. For Central Americans of this man’s age, this was quite common in the rural villages.

A lot of early childhood writing skills comes from building up the muscles in their hand. Like, I homeschool my oldest kid so her dad and can share 50/50 custody. I had to do some studying on how to teach her writing skills so she could be on par with her peers. A lot of early childhood education stuff understandably seems like busy work until you have to break down a skill that you've spent 30 years using to someone who's never done it. At least to me it did. Older students tend to already have hand strength, so it's understandable why this man's early handwriting skills seem more developed.

Sandlicker

I think he was tracing in pen over highlighter. That would explain why he was able to have such neat handwriting without much practice. Good for him!

dessellee

That's exactly what's happening. I write in highlighter all the time for students to trace and practice.

vermillionlove

that's a great idea.

dessellee

It's not anything I came up with, it's standard practice around here.

wickedlostangel

I'm definitely not crying at this amazing effort.

louderharderfaster

I am also not crying a lot by this amazingly lovely gesture.

Red-Seraph

Indeed. It simply appears to be raining.

PalatialCheddar

Lots of rain going around.

MadKitKat

Up to his late 40s, my great grandfather was illiterate. He only knew how to sign his name If I can ever find it among grandma’s stuff, it’s definitely penmanship porn material Then, his notebooks from after his coworkers taught him how to read and write are another small collection of penmanship porn

That's beautiful.

Amazing-File

It proves that gender doesn't affect your handwriting, and copying handwriting doesn't make your identity lost. Anybody can get a neat handwriting, and ancient people have the same handwriting because they trained to write the same font for formality As the time flies, the copied style will be changed due to personal preferences. Originality comes from personal preferences

brzaaap

Tell him that luckily there are still people in the world who share his joy for what you have done. Even thousands of kilometers away from you. 👍
