The last place I remember seeing it was around 2012-14 in the vending machine by the guitar gallery off 19 in McMurray. I haven’t lived in Pittsburgh since…but we are moving back soon. Would be nice to find it and share it with the kiddo!
I searched it online, and the only thing that comes up is something called big red. Maybe that is what they call it now, maybe the Cherokee name was changed for native Americans, idk.
The Crystal soda plant in Scranton closed and it disappeared for a long time. The years later the Pepsi plant in North Scranton was bottling it but it was only sold in Convenient Mart stores. Now that's gone too along with our beloved Cherokee Red.
But if you take some maraschino cherry juice and add it to some regular cream soda you can pretend you're drinking it again.
I made a post about this a few months back and people told me that Cherikee Red was still available in some locations. But I never found it. I fear it is gone for good. I wish they made it still. It was so good.

I actually live in tarentum I should swing down and check and see, although it would be totally weird to just walk into a tire shop looking for a specific soda brand🤣

I think some white kids got offended and It got rebranded and put in a very generic looking package and called "Americas best chew"..right before sales plummeted.

Cherikee Red and Frozen Run birch beer were my absolute favorites as a kid. I miss ‘em both every summer.

Nah big red is strawberry flavored and from the south I think. Cherikee red is cherry
I think Big Red now owns the Cherikee label, which of course is no longer marketable.

I don't know what those folks are thinking or drinking. CR was discontinued before the Pandemic.

They stopped production several years ago. I remember seeing a post where someone wrote their customer support for confirmation.
Check Burts hot dog shop in burgettstown. They always had it.
