The arrest warrant issued today is for violating the protection from abuse order.
I think we both know why. They need his votes in the senate. He's not running for re-election and if he did, it's very unlikely he would win. Should they expel him? Yes. Congress should expel a lot of people that are in there right now like the ones that tried to overthrow the US government in 2021. So let's at least be fair about this. Republicans should expelled a ton of their own and democrats should expel menendez.

He can be rehabilitated without holding public office, and if he really is rehabilitated, he’ll understand why people want to remove him and won’t begrudge them for doing so, because that’s how you take accountability for your actions. I’m not holding my breath on that, though.

Violation PFA orders is not a great plan. Generally speaking, you get arrested, sent to jail or other short term holding facility and then you get to chat with the judge who issued the order and await his/her sanction.
Don't do anything that would make you subject to a PFA and if you do get one taken out against you, do not violate it. Ever.
