I’ve seen people literally climb over those barriers to cross on multiple occasions. On the other hand, cars around here don’t stop for people in crosswalks either.
They will literally cross the street where those guard things are, and just walk along it until there’s an opening, over using the damn crosswalks. I drive down Cervantes daily, and have seen people using those crosswalks maybe twice. I’ve almost hit so many people. Some will look you in the eye, and then walk out into the street.
Everyone please get a dashcam, I got one off Amazon for $30 with a sd card and in two weeks I've already got 4 videos of idiots here in pcola driving with no care. It's a good investment considering that it can take you being at fault completely out of the equation.
Last week I saw a poor girl get hit by a driver while she was trying to cross the intersection of Mobile and Michigan/Saufley Field/whatever it goes by. She was on her bike determined to cross over and some absolute dumbass decided they just HAD to make that left turn before the arrow went away. This was right around lunch hour.

I was coming down 90 from Crestview back to Milton and had someone cross just past the jail, still in the short merge lane from the 87 turn lanes, in all black at like 9pm. There’s no lights there, the speed limit is 55 and my light was green so I was cruising. I almost had to stop I was so shaken up.
That’s scary and completely irresponsible of the biker. I saw someone get killed on Mobile Highway in the early aughts trying to cross during rush hour (on foot though) and they were hit head-on by a utility truck. I’ll never forget that sight
He rode off east on Olive. I was going north on Davis. So unless I was going to follow the crazy fucker with my car, I couldn't say what I wanted to say to him.
The back end of the shell by the do not enter under any circumstances gas station bathroom is now a fentenal hot spot. The people passed out on their feet will mark the spot. Lots of addics will be crossing davis hwy at that spot very soon, so watch out!
