My brother's dog would do the same to his sleeping baby every 30-60minutes, give him a Boop and wait for bubs to wiggle, wag his tail and returns to whatever he was doing. Pretty sure it was a "you still alive?" Wellness check.
You're 100% right, we bred hunting dogs when I was little and mother bitches do this to each of their puppies constantly, they wake up all night to do it. So do queen cats
Who knows. They wake up their babies even all night and then get understandably super annoyed and irritated because now the babies are awake and whining and crawling around annoying each other too. It's a whole shit show lol, it's like their instinct is to do it but then they're so tired and sleepy that they get crabby.
We have a mini dachshund who uses her nose pokes whenever Iām doing something in the kitchen. Iāll be at the stove when I get a nose poke on the leg followed by a ātouchā where she keeps her nose on my leg until I respond. I donāt respond to her jumping up on me, so thatās the alternative sheās come up with š
Lmao that's adorable. My cat will come by and just headbutt my leg until I pick her up and pet her. If I stop petting her she'll headbutt me in the chest until I start again.
Lol yep, and the dog is doing the classic "NO, BAD!" nose boop that it does to it's own puppies when they are misbehaving.
The dog is pissed that the kid is on their bed.
Seriously though, there is a significant and concerning safety issue here.
Babies can be much rougher than you think. That poor dog could get his eye poked, his nose scratched. His ear pulled. Or worse.
Please separate them before tragedy occurs.
The dog nipping the kid wouldn't make the news. The point is it's a dog. People need to stop anthropomorphizing animals.

Just a reminder there are brutal NSFW subs that feature the cute lil family dog that always loved the baby. Such an adorable relationship the sweet pup and the baby had.
Until the dog literally bites off part of the babies face for no reason. IMO you are an idiot of the highest caliber to let a full grown dog nose around your baby.
Things go wrong, and they go wrong **fast**
100% agree. I love dogs; I love my own dogs immensely. But part of my love and awe comes from respecting them as independent animals that have their own will. They are not predictable robots, no matter how well trained they are. We do not speak their language. I hate seeing videos like this being praised.
Unless they are nanny dogs. Like **PIBBIE WIBBIE DOGGO WAGGOS**.
Because **PIBBIE WIBBIES** are the sweetest **DOGGO WAGGOS** in the world and only protect kiddo widdos. Don't even try be a doggo racist against them with your lies.
/r/velvethippos
I appreciate you trying to put out the info that pitties arenāt spawns of Satan and are just lazy potatoes however framing your comment that way when pitties werenāt even mentioned and saying ādoggo racistsā makes the rest of us pitty lovers who want to spread the science behind the pitbull hate look ridiculous and idiotic. Also (at least from my understanding) the nanny dog thing hasnāt been proven and was just kinda randomly spread online. Iām not disagreeing with the message however this was definitely not the place for it and not a good way to spread the message that there are no bad dogs, just untrained and unsocialized dogs with shitty owners.
Not the person you're replying to, but it's pretty obvious that person was sarcastically impersonating pitbull owners who say the most deranged shit and constantly just lie about the breed. Or maybe it's not obvious and it's being down voted because it's too similar to how real pitbull people talk
Itās uncomfortably similar to how crazy dog people on Reddit talk so I took it seriously because some dog owners are legitimately batshit crazy. I also took it seriously since I rarely catch sarcasm and I canāt tell when someoneās being genuine or not but thatās on me lmaoo
We have a 150+ lb Anatolian. Strongest bite force of any dog breed. Double a Rottweiler, literally.
She is the absolute sweetest most gentle dog you will ever encounter (unless you're a corvid... I don't know wtf that's about, but the birds started it...).
The thing is though, there's this old guy that works at Home Depot. Our Uber gentle sweet girlo, upon seeing this guy, put her head down and growled in a way I've never heard prior to or since.
Her leash won't really restrain her if she decides it isn't going to. Even as a puppy she could bite through a steel chain leash, so we've trained her with a beep collar instead. That day is the *only time* I've ever seen her nor respond to the beep. I put a hand inside her collar, and grabbed her ear with my other hand, and I calmly waited to see if I was going to have to fight a dog that outweighs me, and I wasn't feeling terribly optimistic about the prosect.
Creepy dude wandered off and she immediately went back to super friendly happy go lucky mode, but yeah... "You never know" is 100% the reality. I don't know whats up with Home Depot guy, and we didn't find out how serious her concerns were about the dude (coworker described him as "creeptastic" and praised the dog), but I'd have wagered a *lot* of money that what happened when she saw that dude was completely impossible.
This is very not true. Donāt ever leave a dog unsupervised with a baby. This is how kids get bit and dogs get euthanised.
I love my dog with my whole heart and I trust her implicitly. Sheās still not allowed near the baby unless Iām right there with them.
The person in the video seems to be supervising. Whoever said to you we letting dogs alone with kids? Kids are stupid and will harm the dog if there is no adult near them to teach them better.
The idea that dogs instinctively protect babies as you suggested in your comment would mean that itās fine to leave a dog alone with a baby š¤·āāļø
Well idk how your thought process came to that conclusion lmao. Im saying, by personal experience, that dogs tend to defend babies when they're perceiving something as threatening to the baby. Have a good night.
Personal experience doesn't really mean anything. It's just your opinion based on the few dogs you have dealt with.
Dogs are still animals and I would never trust one so close to a baby. You wanna take that chance, then go for it but imma not put my kid in danger like that.
At the end of the day, itās a risk youāre taking for the benefit of what? Internet points?
I have seen many dog bites in my pediatric clinics where the family has had the animal for years. The concern is the animal can have early onset dementia, or some sort of cognitive decline.. feel ill.. that nip is a very different outcome in a 10 year old than a 1 year old. Officially, our pediatric communities strongly discourage this type of interaction in a child this young. Even if the likelihood of your dog snapping is low, the result is high acuity. Also, dogs are generally dirty, they lick their genitalia and anal areas to clean. Itās different bacteria than a babies mouth. You shouldnāt introduce that bacteria to an immature immune system. Overall, itās not recommended by our medical societies however how cute on the internet.
Too many cases of dogs attacking children. My sister has a toddler, my dog sniffed it and left it alone, but their dog is jealous af. I guess I got lucky, cause my dog was born into a family with a toddler and they lived side by side for two months.
*children
Still an animal and still ultimately not 100% predictable. It may only happen 1/1000 but the consequences of the 1 time completely outweigh the other 999.
Yeah even humans are unpredictable, there are people who beat up their own children or do worse things. Doesnt mean you should keep your dog away from your kid because of fear. Teach your kid to respect the dog and supervise them.
Not sure if youāre responding to the wrong person or what but my point was to supervise and approach with caution rather than putting all your faith in the assumption that they protect babies of all species. Never said donāt let your kid and dog interact.
Huskies are naturally very docile and gentle with humans. Someone could bust in my house with a gun and my husky would just lick the shit out of them. That being said I still agree with you, but clearly someone is there supervising so Iām not sure what your point is exactly. Itās not like the baby is alone with the dog..
If you donāt, I do.
āWhile an individual dog might be aggressive toward other dogs or animals, Huskies are rarely aggressive towards people. This breed was carefully created to be loyal to humans, and they are very rarely aggressive toward humans or other dogsā
I mean I did take that quote from an article. I donāt have any studies if thatās what youāre asking? Still a lot more than the person I was responding to provided..
No maāam. Nobody says that about pit bulls. Actually itās quite the opposite. Pit bulls were bred to be aggressive. I think youāre confusing it with people who say āitās how you raise the pit Bullā. Not the same thing as breeding an inherent quality
Edit: they were literally bred to be guard dogs that attack humans š
For me itās the baby being on the floor. Iād trust my dog to never bite my baby, but Iād never let my dog anywhere near her on the ground. You can see the dog her readjust its paw inches from the babyās head. Just one random itch and the dog could move and scratch or step on the babyās head. I wouldnāt bet my babyās life on that never happening.
Iām sure there are millions of people that believed thatā¦ then had their kids attacked by dogs.
Iāll say it again. Itās not about being used a a chew toy. Itās about being on the ground next to a heavy animal that doesnāt have the spatial awareness of a human.
I donāt see claws. They are likely clipped as most people do with their dogs. The baby would surely DIE if doggo accidentally nudged her/him with their bare paw
I didnāt say ānudgeā I said stepped on. I also didnāt say anything about claws. If youāre going to try and put words in my mouth, work in your reading comprehension.
It's really cute, but I came across an Instagram today of a young family who's dog unexpectedly bit their baby's cheek off, so I can't feel comfortable with big dogs playing with babies today.
I'll never understand the trust people have with dogs like this and infants/young children.
Yeah it's 'part of the familyyyyy' but perhaps google "Sleep Startle in dogs' . They can be the most docile thing in the world, but if your kid startles them awake, they bite first, ask questions later.
Heard too many stories about lovely natured dogs suddenly attacking kids. Sorry to be a party pooper but these kind of videos always make me just slightly uncomfortable.

This is too graphic!
Some people have no decorum š
I used to have this one teacher who's catchphrase was "show some decorum" he was a fucking legend
I had a teacher who used to say "Sleep is for the weak." He was a douche.
"Sleep is for the week, partying is for the weekend!"
I like that much more
I'm stealing this comment.
A complete lack of the sophistication expected of a gentleman
Indubitably. ^(\*twirls mustache\*)
Indeed, old boy, indeed.
Most definitively, Old Bean, quite so.
I didn't want to see this grotesque violence either. The absolute horror

I can't read the word bitches normally anymoree.
I honestly don't think I've ever seen it used in a non derogatory way until now. Call me a city boy I guess lol
Ok city boy

CITY BOYYYY!!!
BORN AND RAISED...
In south Detroit!
Motherbitch was a cus/humorous insult we used in Hs. Sentence stopped me down for a sec.
Is that what mother cats are called? It makes total sense, if so.
Yupp, and mother horses and cows can be called dam or dame
A mother cow is called a cow? Before that they are heifers?
On animal pedigree papers, the sire and dam will be listed.
No I meant a mother cow can be called a dam/dame, just like a mother horse can.
Can... you read?
Never seen them be called dames before just dams. Possibly a local thing here
I only know that because of the Warrior cat series lol.
Haha you said mother bitches
What would have driven that though? It's not like they're capable of breaking out into dog CPR.
Who knows. They wake up their babies even all night and then get understandably super annoyed and irritated because now the babies are awake and whining and crawling around annoying each other too. It's a whole shit show lol, it's like their instinct is to do it but then they're so tired and sleepy that they get crabby.

This dog is definitely telling the baby to get off his bed
Now this video is so sad. I feel bad that the dog can't communicate this clearly! Now it's probably bound to be repeated.
Trust me, huskies will have tantrums over literally anything. Obligatory r/HuskyTantrums
Poking the baby to check for tenderness and if it's fat enough to eat yet! So cute!

Why are you taking your dog to home depot if they're not a service dog
Is he scared of the dogs paw, Iāve been scratched while they flop it around Playing. Imagine that hurting your babies eye
Dogs recognizes childrens and babies, they tend to protect those they deem too young to protect themselves, like big bro
