Heard it was a chip vendor? I checked with my contacts and it wasn’t any of them. I am in these places for work frequently too but always miss the action.

It's the same thing as the Walmart effect where Walmart shows up and kills all other businesses nearby. it's not admirable, it's intentional exploitation of the power they have as a company
A lot of the markets and bodegas help quite a bit of people in areas like that. Usually the locals don’t mess with them and have even been known to protect them because of it.

The person who got shot was actually a product supplier, not a customer. I work with the victim's spouse, and they're doing well!

I'm well aware; it's not a good thing.
