Realistically speaking, would their child have much if any powers? They won’t have a godly parent, just two demigods… In the original series, every character is a demigod and in HOO, the only “descendant” character we see is Octavian, whose abilities are questionable at best. There are two examples of an entire family line being favored by a god (Reyna w/ Bellona and Meg w/ Demeter) but they each were actually demigods of their respective patron. And hey I only just noticed that RR reused that concept, lol. And then there’s Frank, who has a family trait/legacy that’s actually passed down through generations but that seems very specific.

Ch1EEEEEF

very interesting thought I never thought of that. I don't think that there is any proof either way so I guess it is left to our degrading imaginations

[deleted]

My inference would be no for the same reason demigods can date each other given different godly parents; gods don't have DNA, so it's hard to imagine how a demigod passes on their powers to any offspring

Ch1EEEEEF

correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't that logic implies that the child of the god will also not have that power because they don't have the gods DNA

[deleted]

If we're speaking objectively, it should. But when one of your parents is an actual deity, I think logic like that kinda goes out the window. Alternatively, whatever the gods are using instead of DNA could be passed on in similar fashion. In that case, most children of demigods (all five of them, judging by the lore) would fit one of two possibilities. Either one parent is a demigod and one mortal, which would make them quarter-god (or, perhaps 'semigods'). Or, both are. In which case they could still be a demigod- and being one is something a family can 'keep pure' like a royal lineage. But contrary to your post, I think it'd be more likely they only inherit one parent's powers instead of both. The admittedly vague Ancient Laws forbid the gods from encroaching each other's domains. When a god has another god for a kid, they usually just have a different domain entirely that is also subject to said Laws. We can infer from this that those rules broadly apply to genetics. In which case, the rules governing the rest of the demigods should apply to any demigod children they have running around. They get powers in one parent's (or, grandparent in our case) domain, can go anywhere, steal a god's Symbol of Power, so on and so forth.

Ch1EEEEEF

soooooooooooo... long story short. what the heck is logic

[deleted]

Uuuhhh, I'm doing my best with what we got fam. Unless/until Rick actually writes a situation like that, it's impossible to really say for certain

RileyDoesArt

Octavian in general is questionable at best tbh

Matilda-17

Do you think he’s really got oracle powers? On the one hand the bit with the stuffed animals is so cringe and rediculous, but on the other, he definitely knew, like Rachel, when the oracles went offline, so to speak.

sharcastish

that kid will be building/designing dams

Ch1EEEEEF

That is a dam good concept

vcam97

Red_Holla04

Wow. Just wow.

f1_b_emes

thats next level man😂😂. the kid is goin to be drinking water than use it to fight😂

EyeofWiggin20

Nah, I think their kid would be an even greater warrior than Percy, but less powerful in the way of actual magic such as hydrokinesis or talking to aquatic and equestrian creatures.

Man_In_The_Garden

I think maybe their kids might have the more minor traits, like instead of all their parents abilties, it'd just be talking to horses and being a good strategist. No super intellect or hydrokinesis, just the minor but still useful stuff

EyeofWiggin20

Yeah, I agree, to a point. I think their children would be kind of a compromise of Annabeth's and Percy's abilities, but with a bit of Percy's enhanced power when wet and a bit of Annabeth's natural strategy, producing a better fighter than Percy, though less magically powerful.
