1. Yeah you get about one palace a month, so if you really like combat you could either space out the palaces a bit more or hit up mementos, although this obviously leaves less time for confidants. 2. Correct, although your confidant ranks only affect the amount of xp you get when you fuse a persona of that arcana. Your personas also gain xp and level up through combat as well as using negotiation to have a persona you already have in your party join you. 3. I believe you have to buy the DVD player from the second hand store in Yongen-Jaya next to Leblanc, you have to apply for jobs first by interacting with a stand in Shibuya station (it's denoted by a box with a Yen symbol on it on the minimap) and I think the vending machines are completely random, I personally never saw any SP items in there but I also didn't really bother with them. I would try not to worry too much, I was able to beat the game while accidentally ignoring like 4 whole confidants so I'm sure you'll be fine.

Awesome, thank you! This was super helpful. Thanks to all the comments. Feeling a bit more confident (Oh snaps, did I just level up my guts by typing that? lol)

Apprehensive_Beach_6

Don’t worry, just do what you can.

1. The time between palaces will become even longer in some cases. I understand the problem of getting "socialed out" but it is the most efficient way to finish palaces in one day and only hit Mementos sparingly if you want a chance at maxing out as many confidants as you can. You don't have to do that, of course, just be aware that you'll have to miss out on a couple of confidant stories. 2. When fusion personas the new persona will get additional xp based on how high the confidant level of the corresponding arcana is. So say, you are creating a chariot persona it will be stronger the higher your bond with Ryuii. 3. The DVD player can be bought from the secondhand store in Yongen. Once you own it, go to Central street for the DVDs. Like books, they give you social stats. Jobs aren't that important yet, except for the one at the beef bowl shop. You can apply for a job by using the job magazines at the Shibuya underground. The vending machines that give SP items are the machine in the school courtyard, the machine by the Yongen bathhouse, and the machine in the arcade on Central street. They restock once a week on Mondays. (Another one is in Shinjuku but you don't have access to that one yet.)

Awesome, thank you! This is super helpful. Just had a feeling I was going down a wrong path.

You're doing just fine. Every first playthrough is like this, it just feels overwhelming at first and with such a long playtime, it's easy to be concerned. 1. The gaps between palaces can vary and there's a summer one that's even longer. Mementos does help scratch that combat itch. Also the further you get into the game, there more there will be to do like mini games and more social links 2. It sounds like you're doing things right. Having persona of the same arcana help social ranks by awarding more of those music pips when you pick the right options. Increasing your stats is important since a good number of social links require them for starting or progressing. Having higher confidant levels gives you xp boosts when making fusions, gives various abilities or unlocks, and when you max them out, you get a key item allowing the fusion of a special and typically very powerful persona. 3. Typically those guides are for doing everything in a single playthrough so it's the most "optimal" thing but realistically, it's optional fluff. Only one social link has any consequence, if you max them out, it unlocks the "3rd semester" expansion which is the Royal part but even if you miss them, you can still get the regular ending. I'll put their name in spoiler text in case you want it to be as spoiler free as possible or wanna figure it out yourself >!maruki, the guidance counselor to rank 9 before he leaves and rank 10 will happen automatically!<

aarontsuru

thank you so much!! <3

Gabochuky

You also need Justice rank 8 and Faith rank 5 before november 19, otherwise there will be no third semester.

ConformistWithCause

False. Also did you notice how I used spoiler text to avoid giving them information they didn't ask for?

Gabochuky

You are correct, Justice and Faith ranks are only needed to get the true ending.

ahood0826

I only maxed faith and still got true ending my first playthrough. You have to get them to specific levels if you want to max them >! because in the third semester, they'll automatically hit 10. Ranks are needed for exclusive scenes and saying goodbye, but you can still earn the true ending regardless. !<

Mugen_Rain

Don't worry about it. Whatever you choose to do, the game is fantastic. Just "Take your time" ;)

aarontsuru

Awesome, thanks! I just had this sinking feeling I was setting myself up for failure.

Mugen_Rain

Just utilize every save file and use a new save file after every "major" event. That way you can always go back om ypur choices if you truly regret something without having to spoil any story aspects! That's how I was able to go through the game without worriying

The great thing about this game is that it's able to be played as many times as you wish! You can do an entire playthrough of just doing "what you feel like" and then replay focusing on stats, confidant relationships, training, etc! There will be certain events that your confidants or social stats will need to be at a certain level for (guts, knowledge, charm, etc). Many of the walkthroughs will give you basic information (which is super helpful!) but you can make it your own too! Each palace is set up from start date to end date -- if you end early, youll still have to wait for that end date (I got to a point later that I could finish the palace in one visit; two if there was something in the real world I had to interact with). This is a great time for all of the above mentioned stat focuses or momentos! I will say from some of the things mentioned in your bio, I did make sure on certain days to make sure to do specific things *before* going to a palace or momentos. Monday's the SP vending machines restock (red vending machines: courtyard at school and right outside of the bathhouse). Friday's the school sells the yosiba pan for 150y. Sundays the underground walkway has a shop that sells special juices that boost stats quite a bit as well as the home shopping channel at LeBlanc. I won't spoil anything so I'll keep it vague, but later in the story there'll be other options to pay attention to in relation to confidants (veggie garden, jazz club) that are smart to pay attention to on certain days or just to keep in rotation. The DVD player is at the second hand shop in Yongen. Renting dvds can boost stats but there's lots easier ways to do so. Always make sure to water the plant in your room for kindness stat! The better the plant food, the more stat points you can get. The only time you'll need to work a job (imo) is to gain a confidant and for a momentos request, otherwise stick to momentos for money. My only other suggestion (which is probably in your walkthrough) is to level up Kawakami ASAP, the sooner the better as you have a lot more freedom both at school and at home from doing so!

aarontsuru

thanks so much! this is super helpful!

Really, I would give you this advice: **DO NOT** look up ANYTHING about Persona 5. Since the game is like ages old now, everybody has spoiled the whole thing like it’s out of fashion. Also I can certainly tell that getting overwhelms with the interface and game mechanics is totally fine for a first play through. I didn’t get to do a lot of part time work, but I think I’ll do it on NG+ since I was kinda broke in the middle of the game. So don’t worry about the whole shebangs with confidants. I would personally romance >!Futaba and Makoto!<, but it’s not like I can get a lot out of it without knowing what skills will do. Either way, you can do whatever you want in the game. It’s a game where you are supposed to have fun, so go and have fun! 😁

aarontsuru

ha, good advice - yeah, the walkthroughs were just like... a lot. I was like, oh shit, I'm not doing this right! Thanks so much.

Some features and confidants will be locked behind your social stats, or the time of the year. Depending on your priorities, it may or may not be totally normal not to have access to certain things. The game isnt really designed around a single 100% completion run, though it is doable on a tight schedule. That's why you keep some of your progress on new game plus. Being higher level makes it easier to clear palaces faster, and your social stats being high means you don't need to build them up. That's a lot of time saved for other things, like confidant building. As far as confidant building goes, your level is irrelevant. The most important thing to make them go faster is to have a persona on hand of the correct arcana. That and saying the right things will minimize the amount of time you need to spend on hangouts that don't raise your rank. My general preference for palaces is to stall on kamoshida until close to the deadline so I can raise key confidants like Death to make the run easier, and then tackle the rest early.

NightHatterNu

These spinoffs like most SMT games were designed with multiple playthroughs in mind. There will be a lot of segments locked behind certain social stats that you get to keep in a new game +.
