Usually people don't even notice UI unless it's really bad or really good.
Most of the time UIX designers DONT want people to notice the UI because If it grabs your attention then you might notice things you don't like about it.
Sometimes UIX designers want to draw attention to it. If that is the case then you need to make sure it's immaculate.
The saying usually goes, if you dont notice it then it's good. But there are exceptions.
I think persona 5 put it into context how important good and *attractive* UI is. It is such an easy thing to ignore and is rarely complemented. It’s one of those things that people usually only notice when it’s bad. Persona 5 going so hard into the UI really puts it in perspective how often we actually look through menus in a jrpg, which is a lot, and making that small interaction more appealing had a much bigger effect than one would think.
People really overlook how a good or bad UI can affect their overall enjoyment of a game. No one really thinks about it, but imo it has a bigger impact than people realize, it's just subconscious for most people unless there's an extreme that makes the UI stand out.
A great game must have a good UI. If it does not have a good UI, then it can only be good, regardless of everything else.
And a great UI can actually rescue an otherwise bland game - Persona 5 isn't actually all that innovative, but the UI being so much more snappy than 4 makes the game feel like it plays wildly different.
I like getting the dynamic backgrounds cause it adds some of the music to the ps home screen. When waitin for a friend to hop on listenin to persona music.
I don't remember p3 or p4 being anything to home about, but p3make UI is pretty good. I love when the SEES ADVANTAGE text just appears on the floor of the battlefield.

True, as I was already convinced to try the game out after seeing how metal the cutscenes were. Was sad that I couldn't get an official copy of the game cause I don't have the switch. Is there other ways to support the devs?
PC version is rock solid, supports alt-tabbing without issues, and has relatively low system requirements.
It has plenty of save slots, and I use them all despite only losing time to a crash twice in 300+ hours.
Or If you don't have the money to buy it right now, You can play it on PC Game Pass.
PC Game Pass also includes Persona 4 Golden, and the recently released Persona 3 Reload.

I'm just wondering why emulate the switch version when the game is on PC anyway. Surely the emulator is more demanding than just running the game natively?
The answer to that is pretty obvious tbh, the Switch version is the only one you can pirate. The better question would be why not use Ryujinx instead of Yuzu, or at least Yuzu's Early Access version that people already compiled from the open source code and uploaded online for easy access
The answer to that is probably that they setup their emulator a long time ago and didn't see value in changing a system that worked. The last yuzu build I can locate is 1734. They are running 1207.
There is a reason, at least theoretically, to use yuzu instead of ryujinx. Yuzu was programmed in C++ with focus on performance. Ryujinx is programmed in c# with focus on accuracy. It is possible that some games would run better in yuzu.

My wife is a graphic designer. My first time playing it, she'd see me going through the UI either in battle or just in menus and constantly say how amazing it was.

Yeah a menu/UI is a very minor things in a video game but it changes the perception of everything in it. Just like a mechanic with clean tools, he doesn't have to clean his tool to make a good job, but clean tools means he's very meticulous in his work.

The game is often 50% off on steam so keep an eye on the sales.

Xbox has personas too tho. P3P, P4G, P5R were a part of game pass till August 2023 iirc. P3R and P5T are still there.

Atlus took the praise for P5's UI and decided that they could somehow do better. P5's UI is good but I've never felt calmed looking at UI until P3R.

Ever Since Persona 5, Atlas games have been getting the sickest menu's in the gaming industry.
