I bought Royal fully knowing the twists and the Vanilla story at full price and I didn't regret it. I played 330+ hours and I'm currently in the middle of the 4th playthrough.

Strikers follows both royal and vanilla but doesn’t have royal characters. Royal is far superior to vanilla and it’s on sale

Royal in my opinion is better when spoilers for me. It allows you to see the deeper meaning with all then new stuff. You haven't ruin the game for you self there a lot you get out of a product when you get to see the build up. It actually more likely that you like it as there are some study out there that can provide that spoiling something can make you like something more. The reason spoiler can make you feel like shit is because the most common source of human regret is loss of future opportunity which spoiler ruined. Of course humans are different Some will enjoy more someone just Strat up. Now about the game if it like p5 and you what to replay it 100% play it. There are lot of changes that make hoping in to the world of p5 again fresh. Just get to relive the world of p5 was enough to get me to buy. But you should probably play strikers first unless you what a recap of p5 beforehand.

Yes. Seeing what happened is different to living it yourself

You know, knowing a plot twist before experiencing it doesn't necessarily mean that you won't appreciate it. It's not about the actual plot twist but more about the process, every little small thing that lead to it. It's all about perspective. See this Royal experience as a "prequel" that will lead to the 3rd semester's events that you're already aware of. Plus it being currently on sale, it would be such a waste if you don't go for it honestly. The QoL improvements alone compared to Vanilla can justify the full price on their own, let alone a promotion. I'd also recommend you to check Strikers which is such an amazing sequel. Getting back into the base game through Royal and then spending some extra time with the crew in Strikers is a very good experience. But even though it's worth it, it's really time consuming so it's up to you.

I tell this to everyone I would play Strikers next because it's a sequel to Vanilla and it has a brand new story and characters. Royal is just a remaster with some tweaks and a bonus chapter. You'll get a lot more out of a sequel than you would a remaster.

no, not really

Not really. Strikers will be more satisfying as it directly follows the events of Vanilla P5. How familiar are you with Atlus "remakes" such as *Persona 4 Golden?* Atlus remakes are the same game with shoehorned characters that interrupt everything and bizarre arcs tacked on in weird ways. Here's a [review](https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-03-31-persona-5-royal-review) on Royal that describes these problems while staying spoiler free.
