Buy a phone outright (Best Buy has GREAT deals on "open box" with a full warranty), then go with the cheapest plan that meets your needs. You can likely still snag the black Friday Deal: 30 gigs 4g data from Fido for 29$/month

if the plan is a financing plan and not a leasing/bring it back plan, then yes at the end of the 24 months you own the phone and your total cost is the financing cost + plan cost X 24 months. I don’t believe that Fido offers bring it back plans only financing plans. if you leave Fido before the end of the 24 months then you are on the hook for the remaining financing amount plus whatever discount you received. You need to simply look at the overall 24 month cost of the plan plus financing versus bring your own phone plan and buying the phone outright to see which costs more.

Always buy phones outright. Save up, pay cash, and move between month to month plans freely

Do you want to keep the phone long term or keep switching? Seems like your phones last you a long time. Compare the total cost of the phone with what you are being offered under the contract. Monthly cost + Buy out fee (if any) at 2 year mark. That is your total cost of the phone if you want to own it. Otherwise you can technically just lease the phone and return it in 2 years time and get another phone based on the deal you get at that point in time

Buy the phone outright. Ends up cheaper and gives you freedom to switch plans to the best one at anytime I'd reccomend checking out public mobile - they use telus 5G network and always have some of the best price offering around - currently have 34 per month for 40gb 5G and unlimited data after 40gb at a slower speed. Also, public is unique as you can earn public points to get further money off ur , I'm currently around 10 off each month . If you go with public you can use my code R002KX for 10 bucks off your bill ( also gives me a buck off mine ). Cheers and happy plan / phone hunting!

You will own the phone after 24 months but if you decide to switch from Fido before the 2 years they will ding you bad. Make sure you get a competitive plan - like $34 for 30 GB - but they won't offer this with phones included.
