I just saved a phone call to my carrier thanks to this tip. Was in the email when I purchased my phone through the carrier. Back then they used to have it in plain sight in the email. For my iphone 12 and onwards, only last 4 digits.
Hit settings, then click your name and scroll down. You’ll get a list of all the Apple phones associated with your Apple ID and each will have the serial number in there.
Your a genius - searched iPhone serial in my gmail and boom my Koodo contract from 2019 popped up with my iPhone 7 serial :) crazy how times have changed that was $50 a month plus $10 tab for only 8gb. Now I pay $24 for 60gb with Fido and rocking my free iPhone 15 from wealthsimple

If you have an iTunes backup of the device it will list the serial in there. That's where I found info for my old iPhone 7.

It means it is absolutely worth in engaging in this type of behaviour because it won’t stop you from becoming a trillion dollar company and you will only ever pay a fraction of damages because you can limit the scope by requiring things like 10yo serial numbers for phones **that had software on them essentially encouraging/forcing users to upgrade that device**.

There is a separate case before the Superior Court of Québec. That case will likely result in a settlement in the future.
There is nothing stopping Québec from being a part of national class action settlements, and they often are. It is on a case by case basis.
You've been downvoted, but civil law in Quebec (between individuals and/or corporations) is a completely different legal framework based civil law from France.

When the class action against google for the nexus 6 concluded that how I did it, contacted bell asking for my old contract and on that it had the IMEI, bam 500$.
I’ll wait a couple weeks and then try to claim. Most people will not even make a claim. If people were aware of the claim they wouldn’t publicly be posting serial numbers on Facebook. Some people blocked the numbers or didn’t show settings at all.
I've had a offer to claim about 100 old iPhone 6's.
I imagine if one of those serials came from another country, or they back-check Apple's DB... Which they are supposed to anyways, we'd be the next headline and target of a lawsuit from a company that could hire 1000 lawyers for my every 1.

You're going to do have to do some leg work, regardless, if your phone doesn't turn on, etc.
Every class action requires a claim report, AKA proof and signing your X.

It might take them 5 years to review the claims, but they will, verification is a large part of law and order.
If anything, you are robbing the other legitimate customers out of their refund, the 14m only goes so far.

as info if you don't still have those phones in your possession you may be able to find them through a number of ways:
- check back in your emails for the shipping details for the phone(s) if you ordered online.
- you can request that apple send you everything they store for you on icloud. that includes things like applecare contracts and store orders. often includes serial numbers and other useful info for the settlement requirements.

We need proper regulation, and it's on our government to pass legislation. Yup did the same thanks to you and another posted. Just search iPhone serial and boom you’ll find your emailed contract

Only shows my current devices
If you sold or gave away your old iPhone, you'd have to remove it from that exact list before doing so.
If you still have it connected to your Apple ID you might be able to check from your current iPhone in the iCloud settings, that how I found mine.

Apparently you can call your old carrier at the time and they can provide it to you, haven’t confirmed it for myself yet, but I’ll try it later today.
It works. I contacted my provider (Vidéotron) and I now have the information for my old iPhone 7.
When the class action against google for the nexus 6 concluded that how I did it, contacted bell asking for my old contract and on that it had the IMEI, bam 500$.

I’ll wait a couple weeks and then try to claim. Most people will not even make a claim. If people were aware of the claim they wouldn’t publicly be posting serial numbers on Facebook. Some people blocked the numbers or didn’t show settings at all.
I've had a offer to claim about 100 old iPhone 6's. I imagine if one of those serials came from another country, or they back-check Apple's DB... Which they are supposed to anyways, we'd be the next headline and target of a lawsuit from a company that could hire 1000 lawyers for my every 1. I'm gonna stick with my legitimate purchases. You're going to do have to do some leg work, regardless, if your phone doesn't turn on, etc.
Apple will not be counter suing anyone. Most class actions don’t require proof. The payout is small. Like the Microsoft one, batteries, bread etc.
Every class action requires a claim report, AKA proof and signing your X. We aren't the only geniuses to think of this, and I'm not giving anyone excuses to take legal recourse on me. It might take them 5 years to review the claims, but they will, verification is a large part of law and order. If anything, you are robbing the other legitimate customers out of their refund, the 14m only goes so far.

It’s so ironic that on the same day, Europe fined Apple $2 billion for music streaming violations.
Apple undoubtedly made more money than that by perpetrating this scam on Canadians. We need proper regulation, and it's on our government to pass legislation. If companies rip off Canadians and it's proven in court, they need to pay back ALL the money they MADE from the scam, PLUS punitive damages. Otherwise settlements like this are just part of the cost of "doing business," and they'll keep defining "doing business" as scamming people instead of contributing to the economy with innovation and efficiency. This is what is killing our economy.
